Staff
I recently moved to Columbus from the other side of the country. I knew noone and the staff has been nothing but helpful since I moved in. They were very welcoming and responded quickly to my needs. Even the small inconvieneces seemed to be on the top of their list. For example, my stove burners were not laying completely flat, something that isnt a concern to most people, and the maintenance staff had it fixed within a day. I have grown up with rental properties in my family, and I understand that some issues are greater than others. I know that the more dire situations need to be fixed before mine, and feel as if their priorities are extremely sound. I the staff at Britt David apartments meets and exceeds my expectations. While it may take a day to fix something, it is unrealistic for a tenant to expect the employees to drop everything for YOUR concern, possibly neglecting the needs of others. Many individuals don't understand this and will therefore be unhappy with every apartment they are in. Britt David is a wonderful place to live.

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is rediculous!!! Crappy appliances, my 2 BR apartment energy bill runs me between 120-170. I am moving out within the next couple of weeks and they are nickle and diming me for ALL of the money that I have. The staff is unfriendly, they don't let you talk to them personally, the maintenance team SUCKS!! They didn't even have my apartment finished when I moved in!! My ice maker didn't work, it took them 3 months to finally replace the ice maker, I had to wait for 4 weeks to get my dishwasher fixed (btw these things were broken when I moved in!). They think their 2br apartments are worth 740, I would pay the 50$ / month extra to live in Greystone!! They require a 60 day notice to get out of the apartment, I mean, what potential employer is going to want to wait for 2 months for you to start?? I am HAPPY to be leaving and I would NEVER EVER come back here or recommend them to any friends or family members. My friend moved here for a job, and I even told her not to move here! I have been a faithful payer of rent and only was late 1x, the next day I got an email stating if you don't pay us we will take legal action against you. REALLY????? They will charge you 40$ if you leave your trash outside your apartment, without any written warning. And now that I am moving out, they have given me a list of things to complete to make the appartment "up to their standards" and it's pretty much saying if you don't clean this, we'll charge you this much, if you don't do this we'll charge you this much. It's REDICULOUS! I do not complain a lot but I felt that this apartment needed to hear what their faithful tenants think of their apartment complex. I would NEVER come back. I also call this place the "------" of north Columbus.

This place is a disaster!
So much for a gated community because the gates are ALWAYS broken. The one pool is too small to accommodate as many residents who live here. The maintenance guys have no clue as to what they are doing and it takes forever to have something fixed when you put an order in. The property manager is rude and will not help you with anything. The other people in the leasing office either is too stupid to know what is going on, or too rude to help. The one dumpster is usually overflowing or broken. People don't pick up after their dogs so you step in crap if you take your dog out at night because of poor lighting aroung the dog areas. The appliances are cheap in the apartments and break easily. There is a foundation problem in the building I am in. There is a huge crack in the ceiling in the breezeway and a huge crack in the wall inside my apartment. The paint job looks like a kid did it instead of a professional. The carpet is cheap. I've had problems with alot of people who've lived in the building I am in. There have been partiers, drug dealers, stupid teenagers, loud music, and people who I don't know banging on my door for no reason at 2:00 am. On Christmas Eve I had a neighbor's friend fall into my door at almost 4:00 am because he was drunk. When I opened the door, my neighbor just stood there laughing. When I mention problems about a neighbor, NOTHING is done. I can't even park in front of my building anymore because neighbors constantly have friends over who take the parking spots in front. Reconsider before moving here. I've warned you. Please make the right decision and not let these fools get your money.

WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX I HAVE ENCOUNTERED!!!
This place is ridiculous, maintenance problems left & right, gated community but the gates are ALWAYS open, the trash dumpsite is overflowing at times, office personnel are not curteous and do NOT care to solve any issues, that is if anyone is in the office! Paper thin walls and the construction is shot. Neighbors are inconsiderate with loud music and yelling. The so called security officer is always 45 minutes away. The laundry room change machine is always out of order, parking is out of hand. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Shop around you will not be happy here!!! To the person who reveiwed "I do not see where all these bad reviews are coming from" I can guarantee you work here!!!

Not worth the $$$$
I knew this property was of no competition to many other communities in this area when I elected to live here, but because they originally offered a great discount on rent I felt that the reduced cost would pacify me. Upon my lease renewal I was informed that the property would no longer honor the discount thus producing a $100.00 rent increase (definitely not worth it). I feel that an increase like this must be warranted i.e. upgrades that are much needed such as cleaning of common entry areas, fixing the worthless gates and pot holes, repairing old pipes so that the water doesn't run brown when I attempt to take a bath, repair very old appliances, and the list goes on.

Awful place to live
I would not recommend Brittwood to any one. Please stay away. Very poor building structure, material and installations. Insulations are a total nightmare. I have been staying here only because of its vicinity to my kid's school. But I would be out of here now. Enough is enough. In winter, we were having horrible time with the gas heater. Old and worn out. Awful smell used to come out of it whenever we turned it on. We had to keep calling the office on and on and after 3 months or so, they replaced it. In summer, the A/C would not work. The ceilings are not properly insulated. I have to keep the ceiling fans on as well as the A/C at around 65. Have been paying extremely high electric bill because of that. Maintenance is a total nightmare. Those guys out there don't even know what they do. The office staff are unfriendly and irritating. Making multiple trips to the office to get a simple maintenance done is a norm here. There is a laundry onsite, but most of washers/dryers are out of order and coin vending machine is a joke. There are a bunch of hooligans who stay here and they make so much noise outside in the middle of the night, not to mention cars with noisy engines in the community. Lawns are filthy and poorly maintained, even the stairs and corridors. Filthy !! Oh ! they would ask for $100 deposit to install a dish TV. Pathetic money mongers. Bunch of morons.

My wife and I have lived at Brittwood this past year and have loved it!!! We don't know where all of these bad reviews are coming from, especially about management. It seems that the management team has done a fine job to us. We feel safe living there and the price is very fair. It seems that if you are an intellegent, honest, and responsible human being, then living here will be fine. We are average hard working people and are very pleased with Brittwood.

BRITTWOOD CHARGED ME $2,400!
This place is a f'ing joke! The staff is a bunch of morons that don't know jacksh*t. The gate is broken 95% of the time. The apartment grounds are decent at that. I got a job in Charleston, SC and I didn't quite make the 2 month deadline to "inform" them of moving out, BUT I had no idea I would get the job offer. Sorry Brittwood I can't see 2 months into the future. If I could I would be a rich man! I tried to be reasonable with them and work out some sort of deal, but they tacked on soooooo many bs fines AND TOOK MY DEPOSIT! My apartment was in good shape I didn't really mess anything up, but they come up with charges to eat up your deposit. They would not work with me WHAT SO EVER and even became threatening. Now they are billing me $2,400 I am currently looking into my rights as a renter. Don't let these thieves steal your money too!

Horrible!!
PLEASE listen to everyone on here, wish we did!! The people in the office are worthless! They just want their money and don't care about you. The gate maybe worked a month out of the 7 1/2 months we lived there. The staff in the office would try to hit on my husband...how pathetic!! I was sooo glad that my husband hot orders so we could move. I had an issue with the staff the day that I moved the rest of our stuff out, I asked if one of the maintenance guys could help move a dresser out because I couldn't get it down the stairs by myself, and guess what?? They were all busy (4 guys) putting up 1 ceiling fan and couldn't help me. I just needed one of them for 30 sec! My husband had already left because he had to work, so I had to sit and wait 2 hours for a neighbor to come home to help me! ALSO we had to pay a security deposit. We moved out about a month ago and STILL haven't received it back. I have been calling and they have been giving me the run around. When you move in they want your money before you move but when you move out, they don't want to give you yours back! When we move back to the area in a few months and I still don't have it I am going there and raising HELL!!!

Money Hungry
I lived in Brittwood from April 2008 to February 2009 and had to break my lease due to me buying a house. They gave me the run around about how much the penalty would be for breaking a lease. One person told me I had to pay over $1600 while another employee to told me I would just have to pay $660 (what a difference)! In between that time, I'd started the process of closing on my house and the sellers agreed to pay $1000 of the $1600. At any rate, by the time I cleared up the real cost of the final payment to Brittwood, I'd already had a $1000 check in my hand. To make a long story short, I moved out of the apartment and received my final inspection. The inspector commented on how emaculate and clean the apartment was and needless to say, but I passed my inspection with flying colors. She told me the final payment cost and I handed the $1000 check to her. She then stated that the refund should take about 30-45 days to receive and worst case two months. I waited and waited until the two month point came (I went with the worst case scenario), and I called to check on the status of my refund. The clerks seemed liked they were attempting to find out about my refund, but returned to the phone just to say that it is not ready and check back after three months. No problem. I call back after three months and clerk proceeded to say it may take four months...by that time I was upset and wanted to talk to a manager. I called daily for about a week and for some reason, the mangager was always out of the office. When I finally spoke to a manager, I told her what was going on and she stated that the check was mailed off and said to call the corporate office. After speaking with them, I learned that my information had just been sent to them a few days ago. Wow! I wonder how long were they going to hold my info? Perhaps they thought I'd forgotten about it. The moral of this story is to try to avoid this apartment complex. If this is your absolute last option, be very vigilant about getting infomation in writing stating the exact time you will receive your security deposit, refund, etc. and have a clerk or manager sign and date the document. Also, become friendly with the corporate office to keep up with the paper trail. As a Soldier in the U.S. Army, I feel I should not have to go through so much to get what is owed to me. I am writing this review to save you all for future references.

Stephanie sucks!
I also had a horrible experience with Stephanie. If you ever do get into an argument with her, hold your ground and keep going to the office to argue with her until she does what she said she would. I caught her in several lies and when I confronted her about them, she said she wasn't lying... Even when I laid out the evidence in front of her, she still denied lying even though I had proof. I also tried to contact the corporate office and never had my phone calls returned. Not a bad apartment for the money but the neighbors are loud and inconsiderate and I too would recommend not moving in unless Stephanie was gone!

IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER OPTIONS - GO NOW AND GO THERE FAST!!!! STEPHANIE IS NOT AN ASSET FOR BRITTWOOD OR THE COMPANY WRITING HER CHECKS! REALLY SHE'S JUST IN THE WRONG BIZ - TRY DATA ENTRY!!! Not too bad - not good
The Staff are incompetent, they seem like nice people but are not trained at all, the owner of this property is a fool for hiring staff without training. The one guy who worked here was able to fix the problems the other staff caused for me, however he quit and now I'm already looking for another place to move. It is not a gated community - sure it has a gate, but it is open 99 out of 100 days (broken) Nice landscaping, pool, gym. Residents are mostly young, loud individuals who like to rev their engines up in the parking lot and play out music at random times, often past 3am. NOTE: There IS a new property manager, so all the bad reviews below about the previous one you don't have to worry, she seems nice, not always apologetic about their mistakes, but not near what other people's reviews are stating. Overall, its not a nightmare to live here, but it's no paradise. If your used to apartment living you'll be fine, if not then you might not be able to tolerate it.

Brittwood Apartments - Alleged Thieves and Liars
My experience with Brittwood Apartments has been a nightmarish proverbial plane crash - it began bad, and promptly became much worse. My initial distaste for these clowns began when I came "home" from work one day to find that the pest control people had paid me a visit. Normally I would be pleased to find that the property managers were being proactive in ridding my abode of potential pests. However I was quite displeased to find that all my clothes and personal belongings and also my bed linens were sprayed with pesticides. And then there is the matter of the particularly poor maintenance service which performs slipshod work and produces faulty temporary repairs at best. And now I arrive at the much awaited for climax - allegedly the property manager has no regard for the law - all she cares about is getting her money, whether it be through legal or illegal means. I believe that during the previous month the property manager violated Public 108-189: The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act of 2003. The property manager made it quite clear that she had no regard for the law as she stated: "I don't care what that law says - I'm the property manager - I do what I want." How professional... Bottom line up front - The Brittwood Apartments property managers are alleged thieves and liars and will steal from you any way they can.

Bad Bad Bad
Brittwood apartments are the worst apartments I've ever lived in. Roaches everywhere and the management does nothing about them. I had a huge roach problem and they let me out of my lease because of it. They had someone new moving in 7 days after I moved out and you know they didn't do anything about the bugs. I hope no one rents from them again.

I lived there in 2000 - They are charging me!
I successfully completed a year lease with Brittwood in 2000. I was never advised of any additional charges after moving. I now have on my credit report a bill for $865 from Brittwood Apartments. Please be careful with them and their lease agreements. I mean I had a few rats and some roaches come from neighbors apartments, but the experience was fine and the maintenance was great. The $865 bill on my credit report stinks, however.

Regretting our move to Brittwood Apartments
I was in shock while reading some of these other reviews on this site. I wished that I would have known about this site before the actual move. My roommate and I have only been living in Brittwood since June 2007. The comments on this site are all very true, and I have only learned that from experience. Yes, "most" of the staff will treat you like you are their best friend, and show their professionalism before you physically make your move. But beware, once you have signed your papers and moved in, it is all downhill from there. Some examples of exactly why we have totally regretted moving to Brittwood are as follows: 1 - At times we are not able to park anywhere near the building we live in, we have to park 4 or 5 buildings down the apartment community, and sometimes farther. Especially when we have just gone grocery shopping and we have to carry all of our groceries in, that's a lot of walking back and forth just to carry in your groceries. 2 - We have very disturbing neighbors who rev up their Harley Davidson motorcycles really late at night, which not only is against the apartments policy, but very disrespectful to their neighbors when they are trying to sleep and you are just wanting to keep the peace. Yeah, we have complained to the staff, but the main thing they can do is send letters out to the building you live in about the issues. Then, the disturbance will come to a stop for about a week or two, and then it's back to the same old crap. 3 Not only do the disturbing neighbors rev their bikes late at night but they yell and laugh at the top of their lungs. No, not even in their apartment, OUTSIDE so that everybody can hear them. When you sign your lease, they promise you up and down that things like that are not tolerable. HAHAHA! Yeah right! All they do, as I mentioned, is send them a letter. Yeah, a letter. Ooooohhhh! We were told that after so many complaints, fines and such would put into place for the people making the racket. Yeah, either these annoying people have money to throw up into the air or that promise is all BS. 4. The pool: Honestly, for the size of this apartment community the one pool they offer is ridiculous! It s tiny, only goes up to 5 feet and is usually extremely packed. And then, it gets green every two weeks! It s disgusting! Yeah, very sucky situation. I would think they can use three (even two would be better) pools because of the number of people that reside here. But no, they re actually building more apartments so that the population will be even heavier (and greedy Thayer Properties can get their money-hungry hands on more cash). Once our lease is up we will definitely be moving out of here. WE ARE VERY DISGUSTED! WE HAVE COMPLETELY HAD IT! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR! STAY FAR AWAY FROM BRITTWOOD (OR ANY THAYER PROPERTIES APARTMENT! STAY FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR AWAY! YOU WILL HATE IT!)

Finally found a place to call home!!
When I walked into the office I felt like I was being welcomed home by the courteous and professional leasing staff. My apartment was perfect and ready as promised. I was personally escorted to my apartment and really given the royal treatment. I would reccomend Brittwood to any and everyone, not only because of the excellent referral bonuses I can earn ($300 each!!), but because it is just a perfect place to call home.
