Have been here for about 2.5 years now and started off with it being called Idlewylde. While my first year was okay, the second year here in a different apartment layout has not been so great. The other reviews are right, the fitness center and other areas have been closed for several months and just re-opened. The gym looks better than the last one. However, the gates have probably only worked for 2 times since living here all this time. It SEEMS like they are working on getting the gates fixed, but, I'm sure I won't be here to see that when my lease ends this summer. The apartments are nice (well my floor plan is-- the extended balcony), but the vibes around this place is horrible. The parking for my building SUCKS! Like, they crowd all these ppl in 4 story buildings and only provide about 10 parking spaces. I reallllllllllly hate that I'm not going to renew my lease with this new management and "changes", but lately the bad has been out weighing the good. The rates for water are SICK. There are major differences every month and I am sure my rent will continue to increase as it has since being here. The issues with the packages are frustrating too as it took them a few weeks to inform the postal service of the apartment split from Astor Place. I make it a point to never interact with the staff because they are full of no information n rude. I will surely miss the space and structure of my apartment when I move, but I won't miss the extra stress that management adds when I leave in a few months. Rent here with extreme caution.

I will start off by saying, I do not usually review anything whether it be good or bad. But I have taken an exception this time only because I feel this property has gotten a bad name in the past. I have lived here for 2 years now and I have seen lots of changes, some good, some bad. As of recent the property manager has changed and that is a good thing, the attitude in the office is completely different than it was 2 months ago. I was set to turn in my notice to move out because of some recent events that have taken place on the property and because they are forcing residents to do occupied renovation. These were the two main reason I wanted to leave, BUT after speaking with the office and the construction project manager, not only did they convince me to do the occupied renovation but also talked me into resigning my lease for another 12 months. I was very concerned when it came to the construction process, I'm not one to let people in my private space while I am not home, BUT again this concern was soon set at ease as well. I met with the project manager and he had a very detailed schedule as to what would be happening in my unit each day,and for the most part they stuck to that schedule. We had a couple of bumps in the road but if I had a problem I was able to call the office or the project manager himself and the problem was quickly taken care of. So in all I feel everyone reviewing this complex needs to take a step back and look at what the new management has actually done at this complex.

I've lived in this complex since 2009. It is very likely that I will not move elsewhere until I am ready to buy a home. It has a great location- very close to the interstate but, also away from the abundance of traffic. Everything I need and love is close by, malls, restaurants, banks etc. I have been in a total of 4 different apartments. At this point, I am in a new renovated 3 bedroom. It is very awesome. I have children so I love having hardwood floors in the common areas. The only issue I have after being here so long is that there is always new managment. I believe that the team that is in place now will likely be around for a while. Thanks Astor place for being such a wonderful community for my family and I.

As a new resident, I would have to say that I would recommend people to live here. My fiance and I have only lived here for 2 months, but we have enjoyed it thus far. The amenities are great, as well as the renovations. We lucked out because we moved in RIGHT after the remodeling was finished, so we got a brand new beautiful apartment with new appliances, hardwood floors, and freshly painted walls. With the good though, there has been some bad. Recently a man was shot and killed one building away from our complex, which really spooked my fiance and I. We had heard rumors about the high amount of crime in this area, and heard from management their high hopes for "weeding out the bad people" in the complex, but I still feel as though there are some pretty sketchy people in our apartment complex. I know with any complex will come sketchy people and crime, but a shooting right beside your apartment is just not something you want to hear about immediately after moving in. I am confident that the management will continue to improve the area--at least I truly hope so. Either way, we've had a pretty good experience so far and would recommend living here.

Had a wonderful experience with the staff when I was initially seeking an apartment. Only been here a few weeks so and can certainly understand inconsistencies when going from one management company to another. But I absolutely love my apartment and any issues that I had were resolved the same day. Michael Lawson, one of the apartment managers, was very helpful in explaining anything I needed answers to. I am sure I will be here from years to come.

I have to complain about the office staff. They are very disrespectful and dismissive, and will not go look for packages unless they absolutely have to, even if I have the slip saying that the package has been delivered. Several times during my residency, these staff members have claimed that packages had not been delivered, when the UPS website showed that they had been signed for. Recently, aggressive dogs and feral cats have become a nuisance in this community. I will not definitely not be renewing my lease when it expires this summer.

I said that I would recommend this place, partly because of the side I reside on. The renovated apartments are spacious, clean, they look great, the appliances are all new, fresh paint wonderful. My issues: when I first visited the this place I was told by a leasing agent who's longer with the company and the manager who's also no longer with the company that they had a security officer who does his rounds, that they don't allow just anyone to move there and they have a strict policy to acquiring an apartment. At the time they were still doing construction of which I was told I would need a gate key to get in on Wednesdays- let's just say the gate has always been open, no key card needed. I never see a security car EVER and if you have an issue where you need security to care of, you need to call the emergency maintenance line if it's after office hours and the "guard" may get it and check out the issue the following day- some help that is. In the last month we've had 4 "sprinkler inspections" or from what I feel it may be is the opportunity to look into your home. I have no issue with parking except these tan colored trailers that's blocking up great parking spaces. I personally have seen a group of guys, no name on their pick up truck go inside these trailers to get furniture pieces, put them together and leave. If they work for Astor Place great if not they need to be moved. It's an eyesore. I recommend that all agents and managers (though they change frequently)get the same training regarding the product in which they sell as well as customer service training- which should be a must. Though I am a resident, but not for long doesn't mean that you can treat the ones that already have a lease with you to the side and the prospective residents friendly. I remember the friendliness when I was prospect now it's like a bother. They have a Care Team which you only see every blue moon. There is no real gym- get your membership ready. All the money spent on renovations and no real gym, security officer, security gate, better lighting. One last thing, check your rent REGULARLY the amounts change depending on how much water they bill you for not how much you use.

I have lived at this apartment for 6 months and I must say this is by far the worst apartment I have ever lived in. On March 18, 2014 my apartment I initially signed the lease for was flooded and majority of my property was damaged. Maintenance came in that morning and stated that they had to fix something with the hot water heater, I proceeded to allow them to fix what was necessary, after about a hour later I ask the maintenance guy " how long would this process take?" He then stated that this is a 5 hour job and that they would have to switch out the hot water heater. At this point I had not done any of my personal hygiene routines to prepare for work. Not to mention I have a 8 month old child as well. Nonetheless, I now had to find a place on my own to take care of my child and I personal hygiene. That night I received a phone call from the supervisor of maintenance stating that my apartment had been flooded. After all the inconvenience of not having water for 5 hours and you tell me that my entire apartment had been flooded. ( let me also mention that the maintenance guy told me the reason for the unannounced inconvenience was to prevent the apartment from flooding) My family and I had to live in a hotel for the rest of the week. We had to replace everything in our apartment, clean and move into another apartment. The apartment moved us into another apartment, which you would think would be great news and it wasn't! The apartment we moved in was not ready, I had to clean out the bathrooms and the carpet smell of dog urine. ( carpet cleaning didn't work, the carpet needs to be replaced) Today, which is April 25, 2014 the apartment above us started leaking. I tried to speak with the leasing manger and none of them are open to speak with me. I'm appalled! I wouldn't recommend the apartment to my worst enemy.

The people that work here have no customer service at all when you are there looking at --------- they are all nice but once yo settle in then you can not get in touch with management. When they finally do call you back they are so rude! DO not know how to talk with their residents! Hard to find parking. What is the point of living in this "gated" community when the gates are always open. There has been a few times when cops are driving by looking for people. This apartments are ------. Not safe for people that have kids or living alone. I wouldnt recommend moving here

My husband and I moved into Chelsea 88 in December. We LOVE it here - seriously! The leasing office staff knows us by name. Our neighbors are really friendly and courteous. If we ever have a maintenance issue, it's resolved quickly and efficiently (not to mention that the maintenance guys are precious!). We feel really safe in the area, too. The new office and clubhouse is absolutely GORGEOUS - something we will utilize a lot. The fitness center is incredible, too! It's obvious that the new property management company has completely changed the community in the best way possible. They are constantly making improvements to the property. We love Chelsea 88 and would recommend it to absolutely anyone looking for a great, safe place to live.

I have lived in what is now called Chelsea 88 for 2 years and my experience have been very positive. What sold me on the apartments was the paint color inside of the apartments, not your average white and the large garden tub. I havent had many service request, however when I have, the response time is immediate, never more than a day, very quick turn around. Nicole the resident manager has been very pleasant to work with. I would recommend the Chelsea 88 to my friends and family. My only 2 negatives is that within two years my rent has gone up from $715 to $798 this does not include water, trash, pest control, and admin fee which must be added or included in my monthly payment. Lastly, I hate the colors that were chosen to paint the ajoining apartments in the same complex Astor Place (Once called Idlewylde). Now the place looks just like the cheap looking apartments next door. The gold/camel color before looked more upscale.

Don't live here. The management has given us very little information during the switch from Idlewylde to Chelsea 88, and what has been given has very often been wrong. Amenities such as the fitness center and laundry services are still non existent, and the one pool is only open 2 months out of the year. This "Gated Community" lacks functioning gates. The staff is rude and dismissive, the only time I get even a little attention and respect is when I come from work still wearing my identification as a employee of Gwinnett County Public Schools. Never try to leave or enter between 2:30 and 4:30, as residents are allowed to park and block the entrance and exit to pick up their children. I was literally trapped between rows of cars 4 across last week.

I moved in in August of 2013. After being approved, I had to badger the staff for weeks to actually sign a lease. I was told that the fitness center would be open in September, and just received word that it opened today, 3/6/14. Management would not reimburse me for fitness centers I had to use instead of the fitness center promised. The security gate has not worked since I have begun renting here, and there seem to be no plans to change this; they marketed themselves as a gated community. Several times when I went to the office to pick up a package I have been treated as a major inconvenience, I get a better reception when coming straight from work wearing a tie. Water for a two bedroom apartment is regularly $50-$55, and they have added a $15 convenience fee for paying online. On the bright side, I do feel safe here. However, due to problems with the management and staff I will not return when my lease ends.

I have been in my apartment since November 2012 and will be moving out May of 2014. My experience has been pleasant, especially compared to other places in the area. I have not really experienced any maintenance issues and I've been blessed to have considerate neighbors. Actually the only reason why I will be moving is because I need more space and I feel like the rent they will be charging due to remodeling is out of my budget. Due to the remodeling I have not been able to use the pool or fitness area, however they did send out information before they began construction so I was well aware. Also I do not like that they send out notices about having to go into your apartment the day before, but that's one of the downsides of apartment living. In the entire time I have lived there I have seen/killed maybe 5 roaches ,but I attribute that to being on the first floor and leaving my patio screen open(I must note that right after I moved in I sprayed the place myself as a precaution).I did have a problem with ants for a week last summer, but pest control came out and sprayed both inside and outside my apartment and the ants were gone. All in all the office staff is okay, some of them are obviously not genuine (Carlos) but that goes with sales.

Don't let the new paint fool you. It's a hit or miss out here. You go in the office one day they are nice...the next visit rude. The security gate has not worked for two years. It's frustrating when you ask for help and your are ignored or treated like a child.

Well I have to say that when new management came in and took over I was a little apprehensive at first and highly annoyed with all the changes they said was going to be taking place. I have been here going on 3 years but I can say right now I am very pleased with all the changes that have been made. Yes my rent may have increased when I renewed my lease at lot more than I had anticipated however I can honestly say its worth it and going to be worth it. The new staff is absolutely amazing! Very friendly and makes you feel like family, like your a human being and even though they are very professional they don't make you feel like they are only about money and business. So far any maintenance request I have submitted has been handled same day or within 24 hours, which previously I would have to call again before I got someone out. I am able to always keep good communication with the leasing office and management at all times which to me is key. So I can say I am very pleased with all the new changes so far!

I have lived on this property since it was Idlewylde Apts and it has been a major shift. I must say the new company came in and went straight to work renovating the apartments as well as the amenities, change can be scary for anyone so at first I was quite nervous. My rent was increased by $100 and I was highly annoyed but, I must say over the last few months watching all of the changes taking place......I get it! They are setting a standard and to live here with all the things offered it's definitely worth the price. To icing to cake not only did they make changes to the grounds they made changes in the leasing office as far as staff as well and I must say I like the new staff a whole lot better than the old staff. These people have a heart and are human, they are understanding, quick to react and are knowledgable. They even have 'Cool Karts' not those average golf carts that other complexes use but, super cool ones that can hold about 5-6 people when used to view the apartments available. To make a long story short, it had been an adventure but, a good one that's well worth the rate!

Chelsea 88 is a great place to live. Since the new management and renovations, it has become what I wanted it to be when I first moved in 3 years ago. The staff is dedicated to making a residents and future residents fell wanted and appreciated. New ideas such as "movie night" and "breakfast to go" will become instant hits with the community. Management staff is courteous and friendly. Service requests are handled very quickly and professionally. I can truly say, I enjoy my home.

This place has gotten worse since the change over to Astor place. The people in the office have no skill. They have a new management team that is the worse work orders do not get completed and if they do, its half ---'d i hate this place i have been here for 4months and i cannot wait until my lease is up. Corporate is worse they cant be reached even though their numbers are on the website. If you know whats best for you!!! You will stay away from this over hyped messed up roach INFESTED complex. They have the nerve to be renovating which isn't ---- when your apartment is still falling apart. The edge of my tub look as if it fall into the apartment below me that is how much overlaying they do instead of fixing the problem they slap on some putty to make it look and you sign your life away. Mold being covered up with Sheetrock, busted pipes. Half of the company lives on site so you cant believe the hype. The offices rating will continue to increase because they are the ones posting the ratings about this jacked up community. The gate has not worked a day since move in, Gym unavailable HORROR People i am not a anger tenant posting i pay on time and i was once a happy renter now i see the truth!!! Save yourself and do not move here or you will be next.

I had a terrible experience at Idlewylde. They closed the pool and gym in mid July so I was unable to use either before I moved out in November. The rent (and water bill)for a 1 bed/ 1 bath was WAY TOO MUCH $ for a small apartment with no amenities! I am SO HAPPY to be out of there and in a MUCH BIGGER apartment in a complex with amenities I can actually use. And good luck getting your deposit back. I'm still waiting for mine and my apartment was in perfect condition when I moved out. If you are thinking about renting at Idlewylde you might as well throw your money in the trash!

I agree with what people have been saying, I'm a resident here, and I'm about to move out, this place has been a headache, so much crap going on, like, Gwinnett county constantly out here, chasing someone behind my building, etc. Then there is the no parking issue, some people have multiple cars, and work related vans, cars, boats, etc. Those are the people that need garages, Also in my apartment I've had a fridge replaced twice, a microwave, and a ceiling fan. Then the office staff is not nice, they act like you are the problem, and they never ever pick up the phone, when you call. The so called amentites, I have yet to see, or use. Last I'm so tired of them coming in your apartment for inspections of the sprinklers, and shutting the water off,I moved here for my job, but I told my job this is the worst.

It was okay. I moved out because my apartment was in a terrible condition. They are remodeling so that's positive. I just didn't want to pay the higher rent for that location. It's a busy and noisy area, I didn't feel safe because the gates never worked and cars would come cruising through at all hours. From my personal experience and from hearing from other people, there's more than one drug dealer working that community. There's groups of kids constantly hanging around in hallways and stairwells. They don't care that people keep aggressive breed dogs or people have propane grills on their balconies, not to mention laundry and trash! I just got tired of the noise and roaches and damp/mildew. Before I moved out there were several plumming jobs going on, thankfully something is being done. Although, I did meet a resident who had to move units because of extreme water damage, from her perspective the leasing office were complacent and didn't offer any help with her move. The new management took over and many water bill almost doubled.. you can't fight them because they don't really care what you think. It's all about filling units and $$$.. I had some good experiences and some negative with the leasing office, my decision to move came after they were unable to give me information about how the remodel would be handled. Three people told me three different stories, I basically got an "oh well" response and they only followed up with me after I gave notice to vacate. It just became an irritating place to live and I'm happy to be in a more serene, safe and much much nicer community now.
