IDLEWYLDE SUCKS
I HAVE LIVED IN IDLEWYLDE APARTMENTS FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS MANAGEMENT HAS CHANGED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT, I PAY FOR A GARAGE AND PEOPLE PARK IN MY GARAGE PRIVET PARKING ALL THE TIME AND THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WASTE OF MONEY MY APARTMENT HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO BY KIDS AND WHEN THE POLICE CAME THEY HAD TO LEAVE 10 MIN LATER BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE APARTMENT WAS BROKE INTO TO, THEN 6 MONTHS LATER SOME KIDS KICKED IN MY DOOR. THE KIDS ALWAYS KNOCK ON MY DOOR AND RUN THE STAIRWELL IS NASTY SOMEONE THROUGH UP IN IT A MONTH AGO AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT CLEANED IT UP. THEY SENT ME A COURT NOTICE THAT SAID I DID NOT PAY MY RENT WHEN IN FACT I PAID EARLY. THERE 24 HOUR ANSWERING SERVICE SUCKS THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE FOR A PHONE CALL BACK EVERY TIME YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE APARTMENT THEY TAKE FOREVER TO FIX IT AND ALWAYS SAY ITS NOT AN EMERGENCY EVEN WHEN YOUR TOILET DON'T WORK. THE KIDS ARE SO LOUD THEY RUN AND YELL IN THE STAIRWELL ALL DAY. I HAD ANT PROBLEMS AND THEY TOOK OVER A WEEK TO SEND SOMEONE TO GET THEM OUT MY APARTMENT AND THEY DID A BAD JOB I HAD TO GET RID OF THEM MYSELF. THE WALLS ARE PAPER THIN THE SECURITY SUCKS AND HALF THE TIME THEY DON'T EVEN WORK. THE GATES ARE ALWAYS BROKEN. I HAVE A MOLD PROBLEM ON MY WINDOWS AND ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED IT. THE STAFF IS HORABLE AND RUDE. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE AT THE OFFICE AND WHEN YOU DRIVE DOWN THEIR TO SEE WHY THEY ARE ALL PLAYING AROUND. I CANT USE THE POOLS BECAUSE THEY ARE SO OVER CROWDED WITH KIDS FROM OTHER COMPLEXES AND WHEN YOU TELL ON THEM THEY DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. HALF THE AMENITIES THEY OFFER ARE REALLY NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE LOCKED. THEY OVER CHARGE TO LIVE IN THIS HELL HOLE. AND THAT'S JUST THE START OF THE BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE I WOULD BE WRITING A BOOK TO TELL IT ALL. I HAVE CONTACTED CORPORATE NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY DON'T CARE THAT THERE IS NO PEACE IN THIS ------ I CANT WAIT TO MOVE!!!

Run As Fast As You Can And DON'T LOOK BACK!!!
I wish I had known about this site before signing my lease at Idlewylde Apartments. The staff is horrible. First of all, they tried to make me pay a deposite on my electricity after I had already paida deposit with Jackson EMC. Secondly, when ever someone would park infront of my garage (usually on a daily basis), they did absolutely nothing about... The Maintainence staff is horrible. My tolit was broken for 3 days (in a one bedroom apartment) because the leasing office said that was not an emergency. My facet in the kitchen leeked for 2 months straight because the 24 hour answering service in place at Idlewylde SUCKS! The place itself is very ------!!! since I have been here there have been 3 people arrested (at different times) right in front of my building. The fire alarm is pull regularly. I can't wait to move.

I have lived at this community since November of 2005 and I have enjoyed my stay here for several years. When I first chose this place I truly only wanted to live here for one year but the unyielding customer service I've received here has been totally uncanny. The maintenance team are proficient, the office staff are helpful and the grounds are maintained daily. I have recommended other friends to move here and now we have the opportunity to spend more time without fighting the traffic throughout the city. I am in the process of purchasing a home but if you are looking for a place to stay in transition I highly recommend Idlewylde apartments.

A Customer Service!
I as many others, in my apartment search heard about apartmentratings.com and decided to view this website after I had already moved to Idlewylde. I must admit after reading some of the comments here I was a little aprehensive. I have lived here for 8 months and can say that I have yet to experience any problems. The girl that moved me in was extremely helpful, nice and made me feel comfortable from the day that I did my application to now. 3 months after I moved in she even called and asked how everything was going in the apartment. (I was surprised) I would have thought that I was forgot about as I was with my previous apartments. Yesterday, I visited the office and the people there were as they always are smiling and helpful. Everytime I go into the office the people there are always having fun and are very inviting!!! A Service. I know that in an apartment I cant control noise levels or the people around me, I can say that where I live is very quiet, always clean and as to safety I know that I had to do a criminal background check as well as everyone else therefore I am comfortable in knowing that my neighbors are just like me and that Gwinnett Police Dept are on top of their jobs. I absolutely love my apartment, the staff and will give them an A rating!

No long a great place to live.
I've lived in Idlewylde since 2000, at that time they were still being built, and had no problems until around 2005. I think management must have changed at least five different times; which I've learned that this is a poor sign when management changes constantly. They have started to let anyone move into the apartment, I really don t think they check credit reports any more. The quality of the complex has really gone to hell. The gates are never working. The kids are taking over, sitting in the stairways as if they own them, beer bottles food container are all over the place. It use to be a nice place to live but now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.

I Like This Place!
My daughter and I moved in to Idlewylde this year and we had no problems when we moved in. In fact, the maintenance guy helped me plug in my dryer. The people in the office have always been nice. My daughter loves the kids swimming area. I think people forget to say when things are good at the apartments and I have been very happy!

This place sucks
Let me make it short for all of you trying to sell this place to unsuspecting tenants... Try getting ANY pizza delivered to this complex after 8:30pm and see what they tell you. Their drivers got robbed numerous times and the police had them stop delivering here. This is only one of my hundreds of complaints, but why waste my time? I think anyone in their right mind would investigate what I just typed and see that it is true. This place is crawling with little wannabe gangsters and thieves, one of which stole a GPS unit out of a parked car in front of my Apt, I was able to hit him in the head with a tire iron, but somehow he was able to run off to cry like a little -----. My lease is up, thank god. I am moving as far as possible from here. THIS PLACE SUCKS. THEY WILL LET ANYONE WITH A FAKE SOCIAL SECURITY CARD MOVE IN ALONG WITH 20 OF THEIR BUDDIES INTO A 2 BEDROOM APT.

Terrible apartment experience
I have lived here only one year and my lease is up,I am out of here. My issue with Idlewylde is I placed a maintanance call because the stairway in my buidling was littered with trash and that weekend, I was having guest visit and did not want them seeing where I live in such terrible state.I called on 06/25/08,I spoke to someone who claimed tobe one of the managers,he promised sending someone out to take care of the situation, that never happened. So I placed another call a week later after leaving countless messages with the answering service and not getting a return call from the office.Fortunately, the same guy who I spoke to the first time picked the call and I reminded him of his assurance that the stairway was going to be cleaned. He apologised and went on to explain that all their maintanance staff were out at their other apartment complex and that they would get to it.Today is 07/09/08 and its still not done.I had given up and since I will be moving into one of my homes which I had tenants in I GAVE UP,but on my way downstairs the same day, I ran into my neighbor who was coming up,in the process of try to pass each otheron the steps she tripped on an empty can of soda one of the many cans and cups, she almost fell and while cursing she said she had called the office afew times but nothing was done.At this point I felt with the amount we are paying on rent, the least the office can do is to return calls or take care of the issues.Called the office and it was the answering service again, so I drove to the office only to be told it will be taken care of but I insisted on seeing the manager, but was told I had to schedule an appointment.I found this really appauling and so I walked in against the agents demand that I needed an appointment to see the manager.I wonder what she would do if she was in my shoe. The funny thing is I saw the maintanance guy cleaning the building next door which to me was relatively clean compared to our building -funny.Anyway,cut the long story short, the manager assured me it will be taking care of.Finally,a group teenagers run the complex and to go up to your apartment, one has to beg for a way upstairs as they sit on the steps, also the gates have never been fully functional, they may work for few days and then its wide open for all the kids coming in from all the other surrounding apartments and motorist taking a short cut through. If you are unfortunate to have your bedroom by the major road that goes thru the complex trust me you will notice the difference in traffic whenever the gates are not secure.I have pictures documenting my cliam.

A Fun Place For Criminals! (with Mugshots!)
I, like many reviewers, have lived here a while. Almost 3 years. I have read quite a few of these reviews, and feel that they are often written by angry tenants who are just not getting there needs addressed. To me, living in an apartment means that you may have to endure loud neighbors, kids in the parking lot, or bugs at times. I do not think these things should be a determining factor for a complex's worthiness. However, the fact that Idlewylde has gone through four different security companies since i have been here with my wife, as well as the fact that this "gated" community has had a broken gate since November (It is now nearly June) ARE important. Also important on that list is the fact that the police are called regularly, yet no tenant is ever given a letter as to any crime in the community. There was a murder-suicide here last year. How did we find out? The 5-o-clock news. Just last night, we listened as a man got tasered and beaten with a nightstick for resisting arrest. Fun times. I understand that different areas encounter different levels of crime. But for a place touting the "finest amenities", I would rather live in a double-wide. P.S., we are moving in July...thank goodness. Stay far away. And now, as promised, a selection of mugshots from Idlewylde's finest criminals, just in the month of May. http://www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots/?city=Duluth&date=2008-05-22&id=2008063374 http://www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots/?city=Duluth&date=2008-05-20&id=2008063210 http://www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots/?city=Duluth&date=2008-05-18&id=2008063064 http://www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots/?city=Duluth&date=2008-05-18&id=2008063036 http://www.scangwinnett.com/mugshots/?city=Duluth&date=2008-05-13&id=2008062567 And remember kids, these are just the ones that got caught.

We are finally out of that Place: please read this REAL review w/ real Pics
This place is all smoke and Mirrors, i will say that it is the David Copperfield of Apartment complex. They will show you the nice setup apartment, with all the nice furniture and show u the club houses, pools and the 2 car washes: BUT!!! its all smoke and mirrors. My neighbor got robbed twice, her -------- got a beat down at the front pool. Both of our cars were damaged in the parking area: my neighbors back glass was broken from the kids playing football in the parking lot. Its very loud there, I think its a prerequisite for you to own a strident stereo for u to live there. Thugs everywhere, just check out the back carwash and look at them washing their cars and playing their earsplitting music. i also think u are suppose to own a pitbull to live here. The cops are there all the time. look at the pics that i took and see what i am talking about, the gates are always broken and you call this living? we were paying over one thousand two hundred dollars for this? please, if you have a family, dont waist ur time: look around before you choose this place: we left early: we stayed there 1 year and we left that place: trust me when i say this: there are cheaper and quieter places out there go to this link to see real pics of the Wylde...http://www.------------------------------

Do not judge a book by its cover!
I have been a resident of Idlewylde for almost 3 years. When my husband and I signed our lease, we were told all of these wonderful, lovely things. This was my first apartment, so of course, I thought everything would be peachy keen! That was my fault and one should not believe everything that they hear, even from the mouth of someone that is selling you something. So, the first year, things were decent. I had a neighbor threaten me, we saw a few fights, had another neighbor that liked to bump the bass at 3 in the morning... the usual. These were things that the office could not control. After the first year, there was a decline in service from management. I was told by an employee that certain members of the leasing management are flat-out racist! This is from an employee! That is a huge problem! There is no more security company that patrols our neighborhood. If there is a problem, we are forced to call the Gwinnett Police Department. Speaking of... my husband had talked to a few officers and was warned to moved out of this neighborhood as soon as possible! Fortunately, we have not experienced any break-ins, but my husband has had a broken windshield from kids that throw rocks, and I had scratches on my car from the same issue. Maintenance can be speedy some days and slow other days. It all depends on who you talk to in the office to request service. We have had our apartment damaged by maintenance (laziness and not completing the job correctly). Oh...the gate issue....let me tell you about that. Last year, it was opened all summer long. It is not Idlewylde's fault that idiots follow people in and even crash into it, trying to get into the neighborhood. That is plain stupidity. What is their fault is that they do not fix it in a timely manner. So far, the gates have not been closed at all this year. Wonderful for a gated-community. Although we have been safe for our stay here, we would not recommend it to others and would warn them to read between the lines and do as much research as possible. It looks so pretty on the outside though! By the way, after the first year of your lease, rent sky-rockets and is not worth it!

RUN IF YOU CAN
I have lived here for three years when I first mved here it was pretty nice but somewhere somehow management got a power trip and started acting like a complete ---. The staff can go through customer service training to learn how to treat the residents and also do the job asswigned to them and not make excuses for things that they dont know, the leasing staff need to be retrained because they continue to lie just to get a sale and once you move in it's a diffrent story. The noise level is very high you have very loud tenats and when you complian to the office they blow it off and not do anything, Im tired of feeling like I live in a night club with all the very loud music playing vehicles as they drive through the complex(make you think its the battle of who has the loudest sound) Crime is very high and reason that you are not aware of this is because management does not inform the tenats of the problems they again blow it off. To me its about getting your rent every month and and F**k the rest. I HATE IT HERE !!! and by the way the office said is said to be very racist and make inappropiate comments about the residents.

Duluth Woman Abducted
3/5/2008 12:01:00 AM Email this article Print this article Duluth woman abducted Victim forced to take men to steal money from work By Josh Green Staff Writer DULUTH - Three masked suspects abducted a Duluth woman from her apartment Monday, demanding she lead them to money stored at the check-cashing business where she works, police said. The woman, who lives at the Idlewylde Apartment complex on Boggs Road, was not injured. Police didn't have descriptions for the suspects late Tuesday, said Gwinnett police spokesman Officer David Schiralli. The victim arrived home with her two small children about 11 p.m. Monday to find the robbers waiting for her outside her apartment. They followed her into her home, demanding money in a safe at Atlanta Check Cashers in Lilburn, Schiralli said. "One of the suspects stayed at the apartment with her two children while the other two drove" the victim to Lilburn, Schiralli said. The victim gave her captors an undisclosed amount of money. They returned her to Duluth and fled in another vehicle, police said. Schiralli said the victim found her two children unharmed in her apartment. The investigation is ongoing. Police urge anyone with information to call investigators at 770-513-5300.

You cant always rely on the reviews- please read
I have officially lived in Idlewylde now for 1yr. I personally have not had any issue with the anything while living here. Every morning i see the staff cleaning or fixing up the area. They always keep the environment looking nice. I have read reviews about the gates, security, car break ins, and etc. As far as the gates go there are times when they are not working. However they do always get fixed eventually, sometimes quicker than others. But just a little tip, even though there are gates, if someone wants to get in they will. A gate is not going to stop them! So the arguement over the gates is silly, and has anyone noticed the security cameras at the gates? That is a part of security. I do agree that the security patrol could drive around more, i hardly ever do see him. With the car break ins, i have not ever had that issue, nor have i heard about them. I feel very safe in the apartments. Unfortunetly for the people that have had that happen you have to realize this can happen anywhere. There is not any place that is 100% crime free, we are living in America. So with all that said, Idlewylde is not as bad as the reviews say. I do recommend it, but if it is not your cup of tea, then you can always move out.

Security ...What Security?....
Do thiefs go out and do crimes in the middle of the day?..No!!! They are sleeping. But I was informed that the security here was only here to protect the property of Idlewylde Apts (by office staff), and that they leave after 11:00 at night!, (by the security people). Manager would not pay for all night security!...YEs my car was broken into. Also, we were suppose to have a gated community. No gates here since I moved in 6 months ago! What are they using a one armed, one legged welder. As big as Atlanta is,I was told the gates were shipped to Florida to have them fixed. PLEASE!!!! Quit all of the lying....It is about corporate profits or manager bonuses! Now we find out we have been being undercharged for the water. You people are a joke! I find the apts to be nice layouts but all else missing, NO Security, No Gated Community, charge the tenants for any and everything they can!.No I am not happy!

Don't take a chance
This is not all it seems. It looks good on the outside but no quite so on the inside. I have lived in apartments before with high numbers of various backgrounds. But the difference is.......it was clean and everyone tried to help you if they say you needed it. Here, people just don't care if they throw out cigarette butts, trash or whatever. It isn't a very safe place to live. No the gates won't make a difference, and I do beleive they are trying to do better. The new security is much better than before but they are not here all the time. And I had a conversation with one of them a while back and he too agreed this was not the safest place to live but he said "it is getting better". Take it for what it's worth. I just say if you don't have to live here..........don't.

It is not that bad and I have no problems.
I moved in regardless of the comments two months ago, and have not had a problem. If you don't mind living with all kinds of people (different races) you will not have a problem as well. If you are racist and assume that just because you see people of color walking around and think they are going to rob you then you might have a problem. In my section the security is constantly circulating, and I feel very safe. Yes the gates have never worked, but do you think that gates would stop all criminal activity - no! Nice apartments, good prices, and good location.

Cannot wait til lease is up!
Me and my partner cannot wait until our lease is up at the end of the year. The 60 day notice will be given for numerous reasons. The gate has worked all but about 3 months of us being here. The second gym has keys missing from the treadmills. In order to use them you have to purchase a $25 key due to other residents or people that don't even live in the community stealing them. The pool table that we were told was free to use as long as someone was in the office is now an $100 fee to use. The tri-star (try-a-cops) security team patrol the residents not all the hoodlums running in and out of the complex and swimming in our pools. They are like hall monitors not protecters. Over all they are all about money and nothing about customer service whatsoever. Our rent is going up almost $100 they have advise if we would like to stay. I don't see any reason to pay these astronomical prices for an apartment with false advertising and no luxury. We should have done more research before hand.

NOT SO GREAT!!1
Where do I begin. I have been lied to ever since we moved here. 1. Amenities - where are they...other than the pool that is the only one still available to us cause folks keep tearing things up and then no one else is allowed to use them. 2. Safety - It ain't so safe. Did you know a person convicted of sexual crimes is living in one of the building next to mine. Yeah like I'm gonna let my child go out and play. 3. I can never get anyone to call me back. There is only one and i repeat 1 nice person in that office. Now I want to break my lease 2 months early to move to a house near my work due to my husband's blindness and easier for him to get around and safer for my kids to go to school (no sexual pretators) and they say I have to pay them those 2 months in full. This has been my worse Apartment living experience ever.

Horrible
Luckly for us we only signed a 6 month lease which we have already talked several times about breaking because it is so bad. The gates don't work and when you call and ask when they will be fixed no one in the office seems to know or care. The last person I talked with told me that the gates don't make the place any safer- and basically told me it was never safe. I would have never moved in there without the gates- I called their corporate office eventually when the lady over Idlewylde told me "I wouldn't let a lady out of her lease for having terminal cancer why would I let you out for complaining about a gate". I have been round and round with these people they DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU or anyother people living there! The gate has been down for over 3 months.

I love it here.
I read all these reviews before i moved in and decided to move here anyway. Regardless of what everone one is saying i personally have not had a problem with anything. When something is broken, like the gate, they have always fixed it at a max of 2days. As far as people saying they have bugs in there apartment, you have to wonder how clean they are keeping their own home. You also have to realize most likely people are not going to get on here and compliment the apartment. Normally they will only put negative things because they are just pissed off at 1 thing that may have happened to them. Everyone is going to have their own personal opinion and mine is that i love this place. Dont get mislead by what people say!

Gates never work, bugs in apartments
Evidently, they expect you to wait from 8-5 on pest control on Monday's. The gates were broken for 4 months. They finally fixed it. Then it was broke the same night. I only moved into the apartments due to the location. I will be speaking to a lawyers to see how we can break the lease and not be charged "market rate" They charge you 2-3 Hundred more a month if the lease is broke. They have the bill marked with 2-3 hundred "market adjustment" to get you to what they told you initially, basically its designed to screw you if break the lease. I would not reccommend this place to my worst enemy. DO NOT RENT HERE!! I will leave this place with a smile on my face ASAP
