FLEA INFESTATION
I moved into this community Jan 1, 2010....I was so excited, thought this was the perfect place. Three days later, I saw fleas on my feet and soon discovered the place was infested. Although, the staff has tried to eradicate them, these seem to be a new breed of super fleas that hasn't responded to 2 exterminator visits in addition to a carpet shampooing. Well now, I guess they're done trying to accomodate me and are basically saying they've done all they're going to do and it's not really their responsibility to do anything else. Meanwhile I'm literally being eaten alive by friggin fleas and am MISERABLE. I've spoken to the Regional Manager and she agrees that it's not their responsibility. I asked to be moved to a different apt or to be let out of my lease....neither of which they're willing to do. Well my next move is to go to my Commanding Officer, JAG, the Mayor, the Health Department and the Local News stations. FLEAS CARRY DISEASE and I refuse to pay my money to live in these conditions. I know this to be true because Iam a Medical Professional(15 plus years in Laboratory Medicine, 2 years of Naturopathic Medical School, and currently a Physician Assistant Student) I've been bitten approximately 100 times and I am fed up!!!!!!!!

Excellent!
The maintenance staff is excellent and will address and fix any complaints as soon as possible. The front desk staff genuinely cares for the residents and will work to make your time here a very pleasant experience. There is very little noise, and the grounds are very well maintained.

Great Apts/Horrible Parking
Lived there for almost a year. The office staff and maintenance are wonderful and very personable. I lived on the top floor and never had an issue with noise from the residents below me or next to me. The only noise I would ever hear would be from the parking lot or from the doors closing from other apartments. I never had an issue with bugs within my apartment but in the spring and summer, spiders were awful in the stairwells. The fitness center was clean whenever I used it and the pool area was always nice. When I first moved into my building there was only one other person living there. Within two months, if I came home from work after 6, I felt like I had to park a mile away. If I came home late at night, I just prepared myself that I would be parking at least 2 builings away from mine. Currently I live in one of their older sister properties now. I wish I was back in Pooler. I would recommend this complex to anyone wanting to live in Pooler. If I were you, I would request an apt near the fitness center facing Cheddar's or towards the end of the complex in the far back. If you live any where other than that, parking will be horrible.

Looks great on surface but wait until you move in
This complex is really nice to look at, but living here is completely different. Maybe if i lived on the very top floor it wouldn't be as bad, but I live on the second floor. The noise level is intolerable. My upstair neighbors sound like they are about to fall through the ceiling between the hours of 10pm and 4am in the morning. Considering the fact that I am in the military and have to wake up at 5 am, this doesn't work. It's ashame when you have to get up in the middle of the night to go rent a hotel in hopes of getting a few hours of sleep. I even tried talking to the upstairs residents and explaining to them that I get up at 5 am, could you please not do whatever it is that you're doing after midnight. Still no change, now they are even loader and sound as if they are dropping 50 pound weights on the floor. It's so load that my lamps on the coffee table shake and a picture has fallen off the wall. I contacted the front desk and they told me that they don't have quiet hours but they will talk to them. Needless to say, still not change. To add to that, you can hear people go up and down the stairs, doors closing, toilets flushing, cabinets close, cars in the parking lot, people on their porches. The walls are really really thin. I just pray that I don't God gives me enough rest to make it work each day without running off the road or killing myself or anyone else due to lack of sleep. On another note, the parking is HORRIBLE. If you get off after 5pm or need to leave your home after 5pm, don't even bother looking for a park near your building, won't find one. Oh yeah and although pest control will come out every week, these buildings are infested with silver fish. THey are every where and they come back time and time again. Needless to say the apartments look really nice inside and out, the pool is nice, but if you need sleep, don't move here, at least don't move on the 2nd or 1st floor. Oh yeah there is dog poop everywhere! As for the front office, it's hit or miss, sometimes you can find them and sometimes you can't. The gate is pointless, people just wait for other cars to open the gate and then they drive in behind them. THe trash compactor is constantly broken, which results in the area surrounding the compactor being swamped by trash.

Not a good place for children
I can confirm the noise levels here. My upstairs neighbor had a stereo system on the porch and would turn it up as loud as it could possibly go. I couldn't even hear the TV over their radio. I have three kids and they could not sleep when the radio is up like that. I contacted the apartment complex and all they said was contact the police. In addition, people drive extremely loud cars and motorcycles up and down the complex early in the morning and late at night waking everybody up. It is so loud that at times it makes car alarms go off. The walls are thin as paper and you can hear everything. Yea, the pool is nice, but during the summer there are numerous birthday parties and keg parties going on and it makes it difficult to enjoy the poolside especially with the kids. Be careful where you step in the grass because there are dog fecies everywhere. We live in a bottom floor apartment and the master bedroom is right next to the outside stairs leading all the way up to the third floor. When people go up and down it somehow gets amplified perhaps due the echo and it is extremely loud when you are trying to sleep. I got an extremely great rate for a three bedroom and that is the only reason why I am trying to hang in there until my lease is up. I also can attest to the parking. If you get home after 5:00pm plan on parking at least a building over.

Definately my 1st choice
When I first moved to Pooler/Savannah I didn't know anything about the area. The people in the office were so helpful and took the time to explain to me where everything was like the malls, grocery stores, etc. They even took the time to print off directions from the internet. Good customer service is hard to find these days but the people at Colonial Grand really know what they're doing and they really take that extra step to help you. You'll be more than happy if you move here. I know because I've been here more than a year and I'll be staying here well into the future!

Love it! Great staff!
I've lived here for over a year. The maintenance guys always fix things quickly and they're super nice. The people in the office are always helpful and genuinely care about the residents. I will be renewing my lease in October and I would DEFINATELY RECCOMEND this place to anyone!

stay away!
We were one of the first renters here. Was quiet but not anymore. The place is full of young, loud people who speed through the parking lots. Good luck finding a spot at the pool on a hot day, unless you are willing to bowl over the young beer drinkers that descend on the place from friday through sunday. The staff are corporate bobble heads, who stand behind their leases, and have no regard for the families that live there. We got a "courtesy" phone call asking if we were renewing our lease, without any instruction that we needed to fill out a special form to give notice. Needless to say, they made us pay an extra months rent (which was 300$ more than our monthly rent) at the end of the lease period. Nice way to make extra money off of gullible people in this economy.

Horrible
These people lied about the pond on their property. The one in photos is the one from the property next to them. They took my deposit, after asking numerous times if this was the pond view they said "yes isn't it beautiful" turns out the actual pond view is a man made retaining pond breeding misquitos. Don't trust these people and don't give them your money.

Do not plan to move into this appartment
This appartment complex looks good. But the staff is so rude and their behaviour is so pathetic. They dont know how to manage the resident who are living here but they simply welcome the new comers and then forget who are living. Espesially one staff by name ------ she is so harsh and she talks so rude thinks she is the property owners. They dont listen to others and make their own rules. I have never seen such worst person in my life I do not know when she will learn the importance and respect the people who visits the lease office. She is not eligible for this kind of job rather she is a good home maker i dont know. The best advise to everyone is not to move into this appartments.

Great apartments, but that's about it.
We love our apartment, but that's about all we love! The management staff is HORRIBLE. They are rude, will not answer phone calls or call you back, and won't give you a straight answer and stick to it. They seem to be more interested in selling new renters on moving into the community than actually taking care of their residents. The first time we came in to look at the property, they were as nice as could be, but ever since they have been nasty and unprofessional. This supposedly "gated community" always has the entrance gate broken, so it just sits open. So much for security. It's too bad such a crappy staff ruined what could have been a wonderful place to live.

Anywhere but here...
My husband and I only stayed there for 5 months, but that was more than enough time for us to decide breaking the lease was nothing compared to the torture of staying. Parking during the day was okay, but once 4-5pm hit you had to hunt for a spot. Sometimes even 2 buildings over! Other residents don't pick up after their dogs, theres feces EVERYWHERE! My dog constantly had fleas because of the area and neighbors upstairs and next door were extremely loud. Office staff was okay except one girl who was consistantly rude. It's also a gated community who's "In" gate was always broken so they left it open all the time. Also a downstairs neighbor had his motorcycle stolen right outside his bedroom window, along with other resident's bikes. This place was too ------ for us, we high-tailed it out and never looked back.

Not a great place
This apartment complex is beautiful inside and out, but the staff expecially management stinks. They are rude and could care less about the people living there. I have 3 children ages 4 and under and a husband who is deployed. A friend stayed over and had a couple of seziures and the police were called because during those seziures he thought he had been attacked. Because of this and one noise disturbance I have 30 days to vacate. But the people who live above us are so noisey and the police have been called because he beats the crap out of her have been reported many times yet they still live here. Also a neighbor was telling me about their neighbors having sex on the porch which they reported and they still live here...maybe they are just single parent unfriendly?

Don't expect your calls answered or returned
This is by far the worst apartment community I've ever lived at. Don't get me wrong, the place is attractive on the surface, but their service is terrible and they have maintenance issues galore. You will never receive a return phone call from ----- or any other sales agent and it's next to impossible to get them to answer the phone. Nearly every tenant I speak to is leaving at the end of their lease and those moving in do not fit the image of the property (ie: noise, parties, etc...) Many better choices in the immediate area.

Staff are very bad especially -----
I dont care if I wrote the name, but the lady called ----- is so bad, she thinks she is the owner of the property and I still remember whatever we ask she goes to manager, a guy who has been ----------------------------- nearby, he just used to nod what ever she says even if she is wrong to just make the staff look good. IF she is there don't talk to anybody , i am 100% sure you will not get a good rate nor any problem you have with the apartment is solved. she is the problem, how can problems be solved.

Great for us
I have absolutely no complaints with the Merritt. I have lived there for 6 months on the 3rd floor. We never hear our neighbors but do occasionally hear people in the parking lot. I have heard from others that the lower floors are noisy because you can hear people upstairs, but that should be expected with any apartment. The office staff has always been nice and helpful and the maintenance seems to be okay. I have never had to call them for anything. The amenities are great...the pool is amazing. The location is very convenient, the apartments are very spacious, and most importantly, I feel safe living there. I would recommend living there to anyone.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
I would never ever recommend this apartment complex to anyone. One person mentioned that apartments are noisy and people shouldn't complain. I must disagree. In all 4 years of college I lived in apartments and they were NEVER this noisy. I live on the first floor and hear absolutely everything that my upstairs neighbor does. Anytime someone comes down the stairs it is ridiculously loud. The office staff says there's nothing they can do about it. Oh yeah, and if you don't have a pet you get to hear EVERYONE else's because they leave them on their porches. And the barking just echoes in between the buildings. There's no such thing as peace and quiet in this place. And $800 for a one br/one ba apartment in POOLER, GA is insane!!

great place - stop being so picky
Newsflash people, ANY apartment complex is going to have noise problems, especially one that is family friendly. It's not news that many parents can't or don't control their children. I have lived here for 7 months in a second floor apartment and have absolutely no complaints. The complex is beautiful, and so is my apartment. The rent isn't bad for a 2 bedroom, and the rooms are huge with giant walk in closets. I went to the pool every day over the summer and never had any problems with "drunken a*******" or rude families. The apartment was sparkling when I moved in, and the building is always clean. Maintenance always comes right away if we have a problem and they do a great job. Some people need to take the stick out of their @** and wake up to the fact that apartment living is much different than owning a home. Great place, great value, I love it.

Would never recommend
Thankfully we were only relocated here for two months while our home was being worked on. We immediately had to post complaints concerning the very noisy and rude upstairs neighbors. At times the walls shook from their screaming, jumping from furniture and just what seemed like the largest feet ever. Their chlidren were quite often alone outside, barefoot and screaming. Management was to address the situation twice, yet we never heard any result of this nor were we ever contacted in follow-up. Why have a front gate when there are open gates to the community all over? Our two dogs that NEVER have had fleas were immediately infested and have cost us a fortune to treat. Overall, the apartments have a pleasant appearance, but that is where it ends. I don't think we've had an uninterrupted night's sleep since arriving, including our toddler son. Don't move here if you want your peace!

Thank God it's only for 2 months
Let me start with a positive--the swimming pool is one of the most gorgeous I've ever seen. It's an infinity pool that overlooks a lake with a fountain. There are pergolas to sit under, plenty of chairs, tables with umbrellas and chairs, and lovely landscaping everywhere. The apartment itself has great space for our family of 4. Our two small children share one bedroom, and they have plenty of space. Both bedrooms have walk-in closets. I say thank God we're only staying here for two months because of the noise, and the quality of people who live here. I don't want to make a sweeping generalization--I have met great people here, but a lot of them are trashy. The young kids upstairs stay up until midnight or one in the morning, jumping on the floor, which makes it sound like the ceiling is caving in. Our neighbors to the side have a huge sound system behind our bedroom wall, and the bass thumps all night long--and sometimes during the day. Last night, my husband ended up sleeping on the couch because he had to get up early for work, and it was too loud in the bedroom for him to sleep. I did go over and ask the neighbors to turn it down, but they were really angry that I had to knock on the door so loudly to get their attention--so now they're in "screw her, we'll turn it up as loud as it can go," mode. OH, and the beautiful pool I told you about? Some trashy people took glass beer bottles by the pool and ended up breaking one. Since some of the glass actually went into the pool, the pool (which is huge,) had to be drained completely and cleaned, then refilled. That took about 2-3 days. Last time I was there, cigarette butts littered the ground. I'm not talking one or two, this was from a crowd of people. Probably 3 packs' worth. And as we swam with our 2 and 4 year olds, a whole family showed up with a case of beer and drank it while actually in the pool. Now, I like to drink, too--but when there are little kids around, I don't go playing pool games like "jump as hard as you can on your sister". These were BIG people. My little girl actually got smacked by one of them accidentally. Hey, I like a quiet, clean, family-oriented environment. But if you like to party all night long, this is the place for you.

Horrible Place to Live
This is the loudest place I've ever lived and is very unsafe. Some of the neighbors' keys will actually open other neighbors' doors and the front gate is never working. We paid for security but never got it. I could hear my upstairs neighbors doing what no one else should be hearing and my nextdoor neighbors chopping their food, their microwave and dishwasher running, and their stereo (I had to make constant complaints but nothing was ever done),and the neighbor across the hall with his extremely loud hot rods that constantly woke my baby all hours of the night and day (management refused to do anything about after numerous complaints). This place is horrible and you will never get any sleep. I'm thinking about suing for a refund of my money paid for security features that were never working properly. FYI: My upstairs neighbors had their bicycles stolen just a few weeks after moving in. Real secure huh? Also, if you have children, you better watch them closely because the pond doesn't have a barrier. If your child gets away from you he/she could end up in the pond. I was terrified the entire time I lived there. I felt safer living in Atlanta. You can't enjoy the pool with your kids either. There are always a bunch of drunks down there with beer cans and bottles. In fact, the sauna was shut down all last summer because of a broken beer bottle (glass in the jets and lines). The apartment was not cleaned properly when we moved in either. There was dog hair and FLEAS everywhere in the apartment. We did not have pets but our aparment had fleas and the neighbors' dogs did their business in front of our apartment all the time. It smelled like animal feces the entire time we were there. The toilets and tubs were always clogged/stopped up. They would not drain no matter how much plunging and Draino you put in them and the stopper part of our drain actually broke apart. The mold is a serious problem too. You will also hear your upstairs neighbors urinating. It's disgusting. The dishwasher is so loud it will give you a headache and the electricity in my son's room stopped working altogether and was never repaired. There aren't any lights in the 2nd and 3rd bedroom or ceiling fans. Don't waste your money there. These aparments aren't worth more then $400 a month. They should tear them down and start over with some rules. One last thing: there are a lot of people constantly moving in and out of the apartments because they mix corporate rentals up with long term rentals. Not a good mix if you have children and want to feel safe. There's no telling whose moving in around you and they don't do criminal background checks on the people staying in those units (or any unit). They could be rapest, child molesters, murderers, you wouldn't know and they are in and out so often and fast they could get away with it. NEVER EVER EVER MOVE THERE.

Noisy!!
I have lived here at the apartments now for 6 months and am so ready to move out! I live on the second floor and the people living on the floor above us were loud, it sounded like they were wrestling all the time. Since 2 weeks ago they have moved out but now a family has moved in and they are even louder. When they walk it sounds like they are stomping purposely and letting the children jump and run so loudly! I have wanted to call the police before with out other tenants but didn`t cus I was hoping it would just stop. I am a nice and considerate person and I try to respect others and would expect the same in return.

Excellent Apt. w/ Beautiful landscaping
Have lived here for Aprox. 1 year. I absolutely LOVE the complex. The buildings are colorful, but I think it gives the complex charm. The landscaping is pretty and I love the sidewalks throughout the complex as I like to walk next to my 4 year old as he rides his bike or scooter along it. The Apartments are spacious, amazing closet space, and spacious balcony! I live on the 3rd floor and sometimes my son running upsets our (younger, child-free) neighbor downstairs, so I assume that 3rd floor might be the prime spot. haha. The only thing I can think of is that the front gates are almost ALWAYS broken and so are usually open...however there are no "real" gated communities anyway. Most complexes that boast a gated community are only gated along the front-side and partially on the sides. If given the opportunity to choose again, I'd make the same choice.
