I love the amenities, neighbors, and location. The rent could be more affordable. For the most part it’s a great community and the staff are very helpful. So far I haven’t had any issue other than rent. I love the fact that the elementary school is within the community.

We love the location so close to the beach and other amenities available. However, the day to day resident experience and maintenance experience has left me and my family feeling uneasy and questioning our safety and if things will even be satisfactorily and timely fixed when official requests are made. At this moment, I would not recommend a friend or family member live here until I'm confident that issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.

Wonderful community but too expensive. Electric Bill is too high.. solar does not help with electricity. We don’t run our AC until evening time but our electricity bill is averaging $700-$800 a month? Would have been better if the solar system would help decrease electricity consumption.

Great overall. The Team is courteous and responsive to our needs and we truly appreciate them. Biggest complaint would be the excessive speeding by vehicles and lack of enforcement of traffic laws……………………. For the Hawaiian experience, best place to experience it all!

Kathy from Resident Services demonstrated amazing customer service. We went into the office with the concern of our grass being cut twice in four months, and within half an hour our lawn was cut beautifully. It is disappointing to see others lawns growing to knee-length height, however, we are grateful for the prompt service.

Overall Kapilina has been a positive apartment community. There is a community facebook page to converse with other residents and deal with any issues that management is not addressing for multiple people. The navy base being nearby means that we hear morning/nightly colors and being in the flight path means during the day we hear planes fly over but neither has been an issue so far. The noise level is manageable. The company that mows lawns doesnt cut the grass often enough but since the community is so big, its understandable. The amenities are very well taken care of and have always been available and clean when I have used them so far. The front gate safety is almost too secure. Before I had my resident pass, I would have to show my current registration, proof of insurance, my license, and a reason why I was visiting the community. This was time-consuming and felt like overkill but it was nice to know how the community was being secured. The barcodes we are given as residents to get through the gates are VERY finicky but once you get the hang of where to place the barcode so the gate opens, its easy enough. A major downfall for the community is the lack of public transportation. No bus routes come all the way to Kapilina so unless you have a car or at least a bike, its hard to get anywhere outside of Kapilina. The local entertainment is constant. There is a restaurant near the beach that has live music every week and they also have a bunch of food trucks on Wednesday nights. Maintenance has come very promptly each time I have put a request ticket in so far. They did not fix an issue with the fan remotes recently but I will just put another ticket in to get it looked at again. The staff in the leasing office has been nothing short of amazing. Audrey was our leasing agent and she was PHENOMENAL. She gave us some very good information about living on Oahu and in the Kapilina community. She definitely sold the community to us and is at least 50% why we decided to live here. Resident services staff has been super helpful and patient with explaining the ways the community works since we got here too. Maddy has always been helpful and very nice when we stop by :)

A great community to live in - neighborhood is beautiful, maintenance team is professional and prompt, and community resources are well maintained. Rates for homes are extremely competitive and we feel like we got a superb deal on our home compared to the price of housing in Hawai’i. We like to call it our little pocket of paradise - especially with the quiet drive off of Fort Weaver to the neighborhood.

I love the community of people and amenities in Kapilina. I wish the water bills were lower seeing I have not had working sprinklers since I moved in but still get charged for common area maintenance and water and have not had grass for 3 years just red dirt and nuts.

It's a beautiful community. I don't like all the Karen energy though and all the random dogs on the loose. Security shouldn't harass people at the gate either. They made it hard for us moving in because the uhaul we rented had expired tags on it.

This place I call it the Promise Land. It truly feels it’s flowing with milk and honey! Depends on one’s look at it. See in the Bible the Israelites was walking in the desert for 40 yrs. I myself felt that in my life and the choices I made put me in some hard times to where I even was incarcerated. After 30 years of going in and out of jail my whole life, in 2018 I came out of Jail. Knowing my family needed me I decided to go into a residential treatment facility. I was working, graduated and was living in a half way house. I did receive a volcher and so I got me a 1 bedroom apartment. I was always wanting my family to enjoy this beautiful life I had with me but my wife was not ready! In 2019-2020 my wife decided to come aboard and so I added her to my volcher and we lived in a nice 4 bedroom 2 bath house in Kalihi. After 4 years god has open the doors to Kapalina. Trust me! The tour is what sold me. My good landlord was extremely excited for us and the opportunity for us to move forward in life and with our 4 kids. We struggled but kept the faith. God has bought us to the Promise Land and ain’t no one gonna make me think otherwise. Aloha

It was better when I first moved in The planes and chickens are so noisy My neighbors yard is so disgusting I do not use my front door which faces it So not ok No one will do anything about it There are many things I do like about living in Kapilina But I am very frustrated right now!

Make sure to ask about the water quality, the fuel spill, contamination, most common side effects, ask about the mold, make sure to do a walk through prior to signing a lease, do not sign unseen. They will try and get you in as fast as they can, I asked about anything we need to know, and was not told any of the above, it is not in the lease, run

The rent is pretty high as it goes up every year by $100. I mean, I can understand it, for renovations, upgrades etc. They started replacing roofs, but somehow never cam3 around to our section. Also, we keep reporting to the main office about the tree roots uplifting th foundation of our place, but nothing got done about it.

Lived here at Kapilina since 2009. Youngest daughter attended IPES. She is now 22 years old. Great gated community. Neighbors tend to mind their own business. Greatful to have ammenities, close to IPES and the NEX. De’lish is awesome. Walking distance to the beach.
