Do settle here if you are looking for the best space v. dollar. Do not rent here if you don't like airplane noise and antiquated facilities. The refurbishing done at Kapilina was just a band-aid on a broken arm.

Kapilina is an amazing Community. The new community center is under construction however it will include a pool and community room for residents to enjoy. The beach is your back yard and the community has many events for the residents to enjoy

Trying to get anything fix around here was impossible until someone tried to break into my home they the replaced the door with a subpar replacement. The paint all over the house is pealing away as if they did not apply a paint primer first, no matter how many times we true to get the e exterminators out here they only showed up once and made the issue worse. I had to take care of the issue. The blinds keep breaking and no one would replace them. Those are just a few issues we have had

The staff at Kapilina are always professional and courteous, from those in the maintenance office for upkeep concerns (especially Tana), to those in Resident Services (Evalani comes immediately to mind) for issues that arise while living here in the community. Jeff, in Leasing, is always available to answer any questions although we don't have as much reason to contact him now that we are long term residents. We have only had a couple of issues involving the grounds staff but they, too, were very responsive and helpful when called. We recently had problems with several appliances. It was determined that a couple of them could not be repaired and they were replaced quickly. A special thanks to everyone involved from the front office staff to the actual maintenance workers who came to the house. It was another good experience. There is a real sense of community here in Kapilina. Our neighbors are great and the management tries to provide opportunities for the residents to get together. A lot of the activities take place on or near the beach, which is a great place to gather. There are some issues of concern here as well, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention them. Rents are market driven and this is a difficult concept to understand and can lead to greater than anticipated increases depending on market conditions at renewal. And, the community is in the flight path to Honolulu International Airport and Military runways so plane noise can be bothersome. Neither of these issues are hidden from new residents but should be considered before signing a lease. We are long term residents and are very happy living here. We love having a cup of coffee while watching the sun rise over Diamond Head every morning.

Beautiful, clean, and relatively secure community with above-and-beyond community activities and terrific beach access/amenities. Military-friendly. Close-knit, vigilant neighbors keep in touch via social media and neighborhood events. Aircraft noise from nearby military installations and the Honolulu airport take some getting used to.

I would first of all like to thank Kathy who was our lease representative who was so kind; gentle and pleasant to work with. Kathy truly impacted our final decision to move down here in this great community. She has surely made our move in so welcoming! They're were a couple more other girls in the office that were also so kind but I forgot there names. I wished I remembered. Sorry! The overall experience for the past 4 years for me and my family was great . We will truly miss all the great festivities; movie nights and much more events that this community has shared with us. I also would like to thank and commend the front gate security guards. They were always so nice to us and our family guest's. We will truly miss this community and we will surely have great memories that we can share with others regarding our stay here. Thank you very much and God Bless!!!

To tired of the noise, higher that average bills because of how they dont bill separately, and the landscapers destroying my lawn every week. The rent is all right but the extras for stuff like an AC, new cabinets, or privacy fence is just to much to take. Also the managment seems to only enforce the pointless rules. Like no hammocks in the cabbanna. But doesnt enforce rules like no pitbulls, or quiet hours.the beach is nice though.

We love living here. The community is beautiful. The other residents are friendly. The staff is helpful and friendly. They truly care about the residents and their property. They respond quickly to maintenance requests. The only downfall is the airplane traffic, but we have gotten used to it and hardly notice it. We love living here and have recommended it to our friends moving to the island.

Overall Kapilina homes is the ideal community for me and my family. They take care of my family with care and respect. We love our community and everyone that represents it. Please think twice about moving to this community if you work for the government or are in the military. The contracted security company will harass you repeatedly, then call the police if they decide you aren't being compliant enough and bold faced lie to police. The view is nice here, but it's not worth the hassle from security even when you follow the rules - the they will just make up new ones to get you on. Very sad, because this place has the potential to be awesome.

This is a great community to safely raise a family, near the beach. The nighttime air traffic noise is sometimes unbearable, and the commute to/from Honolulu are the only drawbacks. These are major drawbacks, however. Lots of activities/amenities.

Always ask permission first before entering your place, if you requested a specific time will go after the time that you requested. They make sure they follow up and remind you about them coming to the house to fix the problem.

So far they are the top management since I've been here. For seven going on eight years I have seen this place go threw major changes and thus far the changes made have been long overdue. This is what we needed, you have made a community come together and know who your neighbors are. A gated community that you can be proud to call your home.

I enjoy the beach, and overall community, and the green spaces. However, the lack of air conditioning, sub par renovations, and single wall (non insulated) construction do not warrant the price to rent here.

We have been a little disappointed with our move and the so called renovations of the home. From dirty kitchen cabinets to the painters not cleaning the shelves, doors etc. they painted, painting over hair, lent and dirt. We have had maintenance come out for a number of issues that should have been taken care of before we moved in. We were also told air conditioners were being installed as the homes were being renovated. On move in day we were told if we wanted air conditioners it would be 25.00 extra a month or we can buy our own but we had to pay for installation. For the amount of rent we are paying we expected a bit more from Carmel. On a positive note.....we are close to the beach.
