Overall great building
This is a long, meaty review for your reading pleasure:

We've lived in this building for a few years now, and I have very few complaints. Management does seem, at times, like they are very hard to deal with, but I've only had to deal with them once about one issue, which was somewhat resolved to my satisfaction.

The best things about living here are: 1) location (can't beat walking to Michigan Avenue, the beach, and downtown in minutes), 2) the commissary in the 1350 building (can't beat having a well-stocked grocery store on the premises--it's the only place we shop now!), and 3) the fact that the apartments are modern on the inside (we looked at a bunch of apartments in the area, most of which were vintage, and we really wanted modern.)

I really can't say enough good things about the commissary. After living in a building with one, I don't know how I can ever leave for a building without one!!!! The staff there are awesome, they know people by name, and they're very personable and helpful. I really enjoy shopping there.

In terms of the apartment itself:
Our apartment had nice carpeting, new applicances (including a very modern dishwasher and microwave) when we moved in. The walls seem pretty thick, meaning I can barely hear my neighbors, which is nice. The kitchen is a very good size, as is the living room. The bathroom is tiny, though, and my least favorite part about the apartment. While the apartment doesn't get much light, it does have nice, large windows. It's a little short on closet space, but you can also rent for a fee several sizes of storage lockers up on the 21st floor, which are good for things like bikes, boxes of stuff that won't fit in your apartment, etc. There is central air for air conditioning, but the heat system is kind of weird: built-in wall radiator things that aren't like regular radiators, but you also can't control the heat whatsoever in your apartment in the winter. It goes on at some point in the fall, and it goes off sometime in the spring. Often, I'm either freezing or burning up in the apartment, and I can't do a thing about it (there are no heat controls in the apartment, though there are air conditioning controls).

Another plus of the building is that whenever something has broken, maintenance has always been up to fix it in a very timely manner, often that same day, and they are very nice and professional. We've had a few things fixed/replaced, and they've always been great about it.

It's also nice to have the trash on your floor (a small room with a garbage shoot and recycling bin), although a negative is that there are no washer/dryer hookups in the apartment (laundry is on the 21st floor and there are a ton of machines).

There is also a small gym in the building, which could have a few more amenities but it's got the basics.

The doorstaff are really great, and are great with getting cabs and remembering names.

Overall, the grounds of the building are very nicely maintained and it's a very attractive building, both on the outside and inside. The parking is convenient (either indoor or outdoor), and we've never had a problem with the parking whatsoever. There is a very nice rooftop deck with chairs, and it's an amazing view of the skyline from there!

Also, as another nice perk, the building occasionally puts on little events for the residents, like tastings and sports events trips. I think this is a nice touch.

Overall, I'd definitely live here again and would recommend this building wholeheartedly to others!

The ------ of GoldCoast
I lived in this building for a year and had the worst experience. I didn't trust the staff. They were incidents of the attendees stealing cars, having sex on the premises, and stealing from tenants. Management doesn't give a damn about tenants and is only out to make as much money as possible. Whatever you do, don't live here. It's a great location, but it's not worth the pain or the price.

PLEASE!
Who ever is writing these "great" reviews are either employees lying or have not lived there long enough. The magagement sucks in the worst way. The crime is out of control the building. Management has to be changed but never will because they make money but at what cost. Ask around. The property manager has refused to meet with concerned residents. Did you know: there was an organized auto theft in the garage a year ago? Did you know that current and former employees were in together stealing property? Did you know to front desk attendants were caught having sex at night while working and one is still there? The other was fired for taking part in theft. Did you know that the maintenance staff was allowed 100% access to all units without over sight and funny enough, several apartments were selected for burglery a few weeks later... Did you know management has had tenats evicted for refusing to pay rent until issues are resolved- they would rather evict you than sit down and discuss SERIOUS issues to health and safety. Did you know in 2003 a mass exodus of dog owners occured due to the horrible treatment of dogs and owners by management? Did you know the property manager forbid tenets from sitting in the lobby and talking? Did you know tenants ar5e often walked in on without notice by staff? I have had people enter my apartment while in bed and in the shower. Slum lord Draper and Kramer still refuse to put safety latches on doors. Bottomline, this place is the absolute worst place to live which is horrible because the location and residents are great. Don't believe me, check the police reports for the building (both addresses) , court records and ask around anyone who has lived there a year or more.... I too thought this place was great my first year until problems then you see how unprofessional and sleazy these people are! BEWARE! I was also a victim of fraud and lies by the leasing office. If anyone else has had those problems, please contact me. Would love to nail these people in a consumer fraud action!

Great Place
I spent the summer of 2004 in this building it was great. many cocktails on the roof deck and fireworks twice a week at navy pier which i could see out my window. close to the beach and parks and the gorrillas at lincoln park zoo. door staff is great and the neighborhood is really nice. the only annoying things is the noise in the airshow be prepared to have a squadron of F-14 blasting thru your living room.

Awsome!
I have lived in 1360 for less than a year and am blown away by the view and the service. I have had a few problems in my apt, such as no water pressure in the morning, and when I alerted mgmt, they quickly fixed that and any other problem I have had. The view of the city is second to none and the apartments look brand new upon move in. The only problem is the price, which is only slightly high for the area.

Dog owners as 2nd-class citizens
Management never responded to my phone calls or my letter about the time my dog and I were trapped in the service elevator for more than 10 minutes. The only response I received was that they increased my rent by $100 per month (my lease was up and the property manager didn't want to negotiate). Needless to say, I moved out. Management only cares about $$$. They could care less about its residents. Management is ALWAYS putting up signs targeting dog owners. If management doesn't want dogs, why accept them?

Perfect, attentive, excellent
1350 and 1360 are very very well run buildings. I lived in 1360 for 5 years. If I had a complaint and called the management, they would send somebody up within 30 minutes or often less. When I left I cleaned my apartment from top to bottom and very promptly got my entire security deposit back, with no hassles. I highly recommend it.

This really is a lovely building ...
I know that some people hjave had problems with management, but my experience overall has been positive. I find that if you are upfront with them about what you need, and you are willing to compromise, they will try to meet your request(s). As for the door persons, you will not find a friendlier bunch than this building's staff. They are friendly, careful and I feel very safe at 1350. The sundeck has spectacular views, from which you can watch the fireworks at Navy Pier every Wednesday & Saturday nights (in Summer). All in all, I've been very happy here.

excellent if pricey
this building is incredibly well managed, but you pay a premium for everything, including parking. Apartments are a bit small and there isn't great light, but the management is great and extremely attentive. I lived there for three years and never had any problems. Very quiet--nice thick walls.

Awsome Building
I highly recommend this building, I moved here from the building next door (1400 N Lake Shore Drive) WHAT A DIFFERENCE You cant even compare. The service men and office staff are actually nice unlike those morons next door. This is a great building and I highly recommend it to everyone who lives at 1400 Lake Shore, move next door! Its so much better here

Poor management
This property really could be the best with the right management. Upon moving in they told us it was ok to have pets. Then upon signing a lease( a few weks later), we called to see if it was ok to get a dog they told us no. That was the main reason we moved in here. Also they have been tearing up the hallways of the building for months. They started our floor about 2-3 months ago and they are still not done. To pay for these upgrades they are raising prices on certain things such as laundry machines. This winter our apartment was freezing. Instead of turning up the heat they calked our windows. That did not help.Overall, The building and location is nice but the management are crooks.

Excellent location
You cannot beat this building in terms of location. The city´s best shopping, nightlife, beach are within walking distance. Very convenient public transport to Chicago´s downtown financial district. The lake shore drive address and doorman gets you a taxi in seconds - even in poor weather. The building and apartments are very well maintained. You won´t be disappointed. The construction is cement/brick --- there is absolutely ZERO noise from neighbors. There is an excellent, diversely stocked deli/commissary on site. The only reason I left is I bought a condo!
