Pretty good place
I have lived at the lakes of windsor for about two years now and all for all its a pretty good place. I would highly reccomend it to other people. It has its quirks but what place doesnt? The things I would change if I could would be to put a light at the entrance sometimes it takes a while to get out during rush hour and the parking can be kind of crowded at times. The things that I love is that everyone in the office is nice and pretty responsive when a problem occurs. Another thing I think is great is when something happens they let us know. For example, one time there was a peeping tom like the other person mentioned but the office sent letters out to every door to let us know so we could take extra percaution for our own safety. They have done this other times as well. I feel very safe here. I know that many officers live here because I used to have a neighbor who was a cop and he said that this was the number one place he would live on the south side. Another thing I love is that the landscaping and flowers are AWESOME, it really feels like home here. I am leaving soon but it is because I finally bought a house. Even though rent is cheaper at some other places, I dont think I would feel as comfortable there. Im gonna miss living here, but I know I am going to LOVE my new house too... Thanks guys!

Look around, its not what it seems
I am a very quiet person, pay my rent on time and even renewed for 6 months I don't expect to be treated any different if I am paying 500 rent or 950.00 rent. However, I expect things to be as they discussed during the intial contact. This is not a kid friendly enviorment. If you have 12-15 years olds, this is not the community to live in. It appears that kids can not be kids, and they famous line is " for all to enjoy: meaning the adults , kids are chasitsed for splashing to much, kids are not welcome in the club house as they are a distraction to business, Mmm didnt know a club house was ment for business, I thought it was for residents. Nothing alternative is set up for them . surrounding properties even have pool tables set up for use, this place is for more show, yet you can have 3 college men living upstairs makeing racket from 1am to 4am, trashing dripping from thier balcony and as long as they are site unseen and not effectig the new move ins, hey who cares. Again there should be some place young adults can go and get together and have rules set up, but no, lets just put the age limit of 18 on things and again cater to adults . The rules should be followed by the kids, I totaly agree. Computers are for 18year olds, as the younger ones are on porn , well why not but a block on all porn, public computers for any age shoud not allow porn viewing. But again, lets not have to be inconvienced with thinking of ideas. Will not be renewing again

Hi ... tis place seriously isn't worth signing a lease at. you'r gona get stuck and regret it. The staff is very unfriendly, the neighbors are mean and menacing as far as your private property goes. Middle aged men with pot bellies walk around and it makes it unsafe to even sit on ht epatio. Most recently, there have also been reports of a peeping tom around the apartments. theres just too many brown people who most always are out in intimidating groups. I suggest that you be aware of the other places there are, to live ... i'm going to suggest sundance at the crossing or the overlook apartments... make sure you also drive around this place in the evening to see how it really is!

Overall good experience
I have really enjoyed living here, but in the end it is just too expensive. I was surprised that there was no renewal incentive. The staff assured me that the rent would not go up. A friend in another complex nearby got $1,000 credit card to spend anyway they wanted when they resigned! My balcony overlooks the park which is OUT OF CONTROL! The children that play in that park are very mean and yell obscene words at the top of their lungs. I would never let my child play out there. The other children don't even stop when adults are present.

Staff has been very friendly and I love my apartment. I wish it was a little cheaper and I could have a dog here. Other than that, things were fine.

Accounting here sucks!
My advice to you is to get a receipt anytime you pay rent, ANYTHING! This place will screw you over in a heartbeat! Thank goodness, I was able to do this to prove to them that they were incorrect! My advice is this, keep looking. I'm so glad to have moved out of this complete hell hole. It was really nice in the beginning and they were very nice to start, however, after the first month, I was just another tenant. Also, be prepared to have to call more than once if you want something fixed. Chances are the person that wrote up the request, has either spaced, lost or threw it away. As must as you have to spend for these apartments, you really don't get your money's worth. There are many nicer(CHEAPER) apartments in the area.

Didnt want to move, but no choice...
I have lived here just under 1 year. My lease is about to expire and I received notice on my door to renew. I went to talk to the office staff, and explained that I would like to continue to live here, but wanted a 6 month lease vs a year, because of family circumstances I didnt want to commit to more than what I felt i could at this time. they wanted to raise my rent 130 per month, if I went month to month it went up to almost 1200 per month. I was shocked. I could understand an increase of maybe 50 for a 6 month lease, but 130.00, let alone month to month. they must not want me to stay very bad. I am sorry it turned out this way

I love it here so much..no joke!
I have lived here for a little while and I love it here. The apartments are so pretty and I have the best lake view ever! I feel like I am on vacation...seriously! Everyone I have over to my apartment compliments it every time. Everyone is always raving about it!! I love it. The maintenance always does a great job. No complaints there at all. They even put up my television stand for me. The office staff is soooooo nice! Not one of them are ever mean. I just want everyone to know that they will not regret living here. I promise you that! No need to look anywhere else!

Not all bad..........
I think it's a very nice place. I've never had a problem with noise at all. The only thing I can say is the parking is a nightmare. You literally have to fight for a parking spot where I am. My apartment is very quiet though, no noise really. Just the occasional stuff you hear in all apartments. The office staff is OK, only had one snotty person, but she's no longer there. Everyone has been very nice. Maint is nothing special. I've had a few things fixed, and they are pretty prompt on it. I have only had to call back once, but it was fixed right away. Over all it's pretty good. One of the safest places I've ever lived.

Keep looking
Ok, so I have to admit that when we first visited this community, things seemed perfect. Little did I know that eventually my opinion would completely change. My husband and I were expecting our first child and wanted to find the perfect new place to make a home for her. We looked at many places and finally decided that this would be it. The staff, in the beginning, seemed really nice and professional. I wonder if they're going to receive an award for great acting....hmmmm. Anyway, we had an issue in the very beginning where one of our mini-blinds was broken, the staff responded and fixed it the very same day. That was really great. Then, as time went by, our lease was about to expire, so we contacted the leasing office to see how much our rent would be if we decided to stay another year, it jumped from $730 all the way up to $885. A $55 monthly increase for the regular fee, as well as we had to give up our $100/month special. That seemed pretty ridiculous to us. We found a new apartment, and they had to run a reference check on us, and once the lakes of windsor learned that we were moving, coincidentally, they called us that very same day to offer us the same rate as we had been paying all along. We decided to move, because we were still going to get a better rate at the new (much nicer, better, cleaner) community. I recently called to report another repair that needed to be taken care of, and I am still waiting for a response. It has been nearly 2 months now since I originally reported it. I had to suffer an injury because of the unsafe conditions. Not to mention, there are many other safety issues that the lakes of windsor overlooks, such as no fire extinguishers in the unit, and allowing us to have a charcoal grill. When we asked the assistant manager at the time if it would be ok to have one, she replied "I didn't see anything" Totally illegal. To make this long story short, please take it from 2 very unhappy tenants, look around and really be careful of what you get locked into. Things aren't always as good as they seem. We are anxiously awaiting the day in which we move!!!!

Great Place to Live
I would recommend the Lakes of Windsor to anyone. The staff is so friendly and go the extra mile to accomodate your needs. The apartments are so clean and they even will custom paint your apartment! Maintenance is excellent. You call and they come running. I didn't see the property last summer, but I understand their landscaping is beautiful. They won an award for the best landscaping in Indiana! That's pretty awesome. If you are looking for a quality place to live... move in to the Lakes of Windsor. You'll just love it here!

First of all, this is my first apartment and I was so nervous in picking my "first perfect apartment" The staff here helped me overcome my fears and were generous in helping me out and they were soooooooo patient with me. I love it here, everyone is so nice and when i have something that needs repaired it is always fixed that same day. I would recommend The Lakes of Windsor to anyone who is looking for "the perfect home".

Thinbgs Only I Would Know
I lived at Lakes of Windsor for two years and also was friends with one of the office staff. Lakes of Windsor was "at one time" the luxury apartments it claims to be, but since the new manager - Susan something and management company things have dramatically changed! First sign that things are far from perfect is the fact that this community has offered the $99 moves you in special for probably 2 years straight! Wow - that is the first clue. They also are letting just about ANYONE that walks through the door move in - this community is going down hill very quickly and I feel sorry for those stuck in lease contracts there at this time. You current and prospective renters I wish you could have had the experience I did when there was a staff that really cared, but I just wish you all good luck - I would highly discourage a move to Lakes of Windsor! Do ont count on a clean or well-kept apartment home at this property, trust me there are much better options out there - look around first.

Lesson Learned
Overall, the experience living here is ok. Community has well maintained exterior. Some buildings are probably better to live in than others, as far as noise, condition of apt, neighbors, etc. Our apt was nicely maintained. Be sure to request to see the actual apt you will be living in. The most frustrating issue for us has been finding out that an apartment here is being subleased, but when we wanted to get out of our lease, we were told "no subleasing". So, lesson learned is find out which buildings are ok to sublease your apt, if necessary.

Did not cater to my need....
In reviewing the comments below, I felt compelled to re-write our comments (edits from Poor Management) . My family and I sold our home of 10 years in a month after placing it on the market and then only had two weeks to find something else. We searched the housing market, as we had done for 2 years prior and still found nothing, so off to an apartment we went. After a quick and heartfelt search we ended up here at Lakes of Windsor. The staff seemed helpful and friendly and did quickly respond to our ýimmediate move in requests,ý so we signed the papers. Two days after we actually moved in we found the one!!! The perfect home! A beautiful ranch w/ a finished basement and all completely remodeled and in an older established neighborhood, the perfect place for our family. The next day (day 3 of actually living in the apt) I called the office and explained the situation. Management responded in a very matter of fact way and told us that we had signed a 6 month lease and would be responsible for the remainder of the lease, regardless. So we asked about other options and the response was nothing. They would not even let us sub-lease the apartment. So, we missed out on our very lucky find. However, a month later we ended up moving out of the apartment and the apartment sits empty, anyway. Not ever living in an apartment we could not handle the noise above us and found that in our lease management could not gain control of the matter without delivering several notices to the our neighbor regarding the complains nor could they provide timeline of when the noise would stop. The first notice was delivered and that very night the dog barked all night, just above my daughters window. Ultimately, more sleepless nights for us, which we could not do w/ a 2 year old. We were already at our wits end. Today, we are renting a house and the apartment, plus paying the utilities on the apartment, which all is a financial hardship, but a small price to pay for sleep.

Conclusion, management did not cater to our needs here and maybe their hands were tighted, but I believe that something could have been worked out, if they were open. The property itself was very safe and visually appealing with lots of amenities, luxury not, but nice - yes. If you are looking for short term or expect the ýXýtra Mile,ý this may not be the place for you.
I LOVE THIS PROPERTY AND MY JOB
I have worked for Fogelman Mangement Company for 2 years and been at the Lakes of Windsor for the past year and a half. I have been in property management for 23 years now and without a doubt I can say Lakes of Windsor and Fogelman Management Company is the best of the best! I am very proud to say, I work with Fogelman Management Company and at the Lakes of Windsor. At the Lakes of Windsor we cater to the needs of all of our residents and give the best service around. Our maintenance team is top notch, with a response time of less then 24 hours to most service calls. Our whole team works to know each resident by name, which is not always an easy thing to do with 440 apartment homes but we make knowing our residents a priority. We deliver mail and packages to our residents, water plants while they are out of town and monthly have a resident breakfast and a pizza and movie night! There is no possible way to make everyone happy, but I feel we do the very best to resolve everyones problems and address everyones concerns.
I wish that this site could show the number of satisified residents that live her and have for many years. We have a very high percentage of our residents that renew their lease year after year. There are always people who are going to be unhappy no matter what you do for them. The lady who wrote about her carpet didn't bother to mention that once her carpet was brought to my attention it was replaced. The person who wrote about the noise from her upstairs neighbor and the condition of her apartment didn't bother to mention how she wanted to break her lease and move into a house. So just beware if someone says something negative about us, there usually is another side to the story.
All I can say is come in and visit, in minutes you'll feel right at home and found out for yourself just how great we are!
OH and the toilet stinks really bad after you use it a couple of times, no matter what we do to it, so hurry get them in there...fast! That way we can collect our money and they will clean it for us!

So far so good.. almost 2 years and counting..
We moved into Lakes of Windsor as we consider it a luxury-type apartment, fairly new (about 5 years old) and something that you don´t have to be ashamed to show to your parents and friends. :) We live in one of the larger apartments (the Buckingham I think) and we are pretty satisfied with the price, size and amenities included. We did some extensive comparisons with apartments on the Northside, Northwest, West side of town and we felt we found a great bargain for it´s size and location (about 15-20 min drive from downtown). One of the nicer features our apartment has is the walk-in washer/dryer room. We did not find many apartments that had this option. Fire place, decently sized kitchen, and vaulted ceilings are also a nice touch and a big plus is that they allow pets (up to small dogs I believe.) If you are moving to Indy, you should at least take the time to check it out.

One last note is to ask about discounts they offer to professionals such as Eli Lilly employees.

Apartment Complex ´Under Very Bad Management´
I signed the lease with the verbal understanding that the carpet would be replaced in the unit that I had chosen. I had been very concerned about the condition of the carpet, knowing that the previous tenants were smokers and had children. Much to my disappointment, I found that the carpet was not replaced, and was still absolutely filthy, even after ´cleaning´. I plan to register a complaint with the apartment complex management, and with the company I work for, who uses this apartment complex for relocation of out of town employees. My recommendation for rental is a definite ´NO´.

Bobby Trendy would NEVER say this is Luxurious!!!!
I´m sorry to say I moved here from my lap of luxury, the Woods of Britton in Fishers. This "sister" community (lakes of windsor) has big shoes to fill. Lets start with the up keep...whats that? Oh, the old carpet coming apart at all the seams? Uh, the bug infestations? Hmmm, the washer that runs on a rubber band and has only one speed (super shred). Or should I mention the floor boards coming up underneath the carpets...nice construction touches like that! Oh, don´t even pay for a carport, I guess its free to everyone else but me! And just when you get to know some of the staff...they are replaced...continuously. Not worth the money and frustration ;)

Exceptional Experience!
I´ve been a resident at this property since 1999, and continue to be impressed with the quality of facilities, amenities and superior staff. The property is laid out well, very good floor plan selections, and a maintenance and management team like no other in all of Indianapolis. I highly recommend this property as your future ´home´
