Roaches and mouse! If you can handle roaches crawling out the kitchen and mouses running around, then this is for you. We have called them numerous times, the exterminator only come on Fridays. He has come at least ten times since we've been here, but these things are still here. Building is infested, I even saw one crawling in the hallway. We are clean and have been extremely cautious about food in this apartment but they are still here. Can't deal with it. I'm leaving. We also got new neighbors, playing music soo loud early in the morning on the weekends. They are changing the evelators, it's looking nice, some stupid kids are already writing on it, but the building is old. Laundry room with old appliances that sometimes half of them won't be working. Same for the little gym (2 treadmill but most of the time only one working). They say they have a sauna, I have never checked it out. Maintenance guys are nice and prompt! Haven't had a lot of issue but few times needed, it was fast enough. Reception staff is nice. I would only recommend Colesville Towers if you can deal with the insects and rodents.

Parking is way too expensive. Noise is really bad and mgmt has no desire to ask tenants to turn it down even after 11PM. I don't use the pool since it's jammed with kids all day long. Bugs and rodents run the place. Some tenants are very ignorant in how to dispose of their trash. Kitchens are VERY old but they sometimes replace old basic appliances with newer worse ones. Example, try to keep the oven at an even 350 degrees is impossible. You can do better for the price. Often see cops in driveway so I can only imagine what goes on in some of these apartments.

        Keep looking

I have lived in Colesville Towers for nearly three years, Since August 2009. I will be moving out at the end of this lease and I have to say, I stayed about two years too long. First of all, while the new management company has made some improvement (replaced the windows), they still leave much to be desired. While this building is advertised as having AC, it is important to note that you either have heat or AC, never both. For all three years I have been in this building, the management company has been the last in the area to switch the system to AC. It seems that they are completely willing to sacrifice the comfort of the tenants to save a few bucks on the AC bill. It is already 80 degrees in my apartment and they have informed us that the AC will not be on until the last possible date, May 15. Also, there is always something broken. Right now, it is the elevators. Only two in the front lobby are operational, apparently they are doing repairs, but this has lasted for months and I often find myself waiting for a while for the elevator to come when called. Additionally, there are usually washers and dryers in the laundry room that are out of service. There is also a fairly severe roach problem in the building. I am very neat and tidy, but the exterminator who came out when I complained informed me that there were several people on my floor that were major problems and that no matter how much spraying he did in my unit, it wasn't likely to make much of a difference until the other units were cleared out. While I have a parking space, I have to pay dearly for it. From what I understand from friends in other buildings around DTSS, parking is not as expensive as it is at Colesville Towers. While the units are quite spacious and the floor plans are good, I would not let that sway you over a smaller space in a nicer building. I have considered moving each time my lease ended, but they always convinced me to stay by offering special discounts on the rent. I should have moved out at the end of my first lease in 2010. I am not making the mistake again this year when my lease ends no matter how cheap they make it!!

          Serious bug problem

I'm towards the end of my 2nd year living at Colesville Towers and I have one major complaint: BUGS. There is a serious cockroach problem here. I try to be neat and clean up the kitchen every single day, but it's almost no use, there is a huge infestation here. The building even brought in a professional service to try to deal with it... twice! It hasn't solved the problem. Really gross - they're everywhere. Besides the bug problem, the apartments are nice. Spacious, comfortable, etc. They just re-did the windows on the entire building, so that's all new. The kitchen is small, but it leaves extra space for living and a dining nook. If it weren't for the bug problem, I might stay here longer, but it's gross living amongst the roaches.

Enjoyed my stay at Colesville Towers

I have lived in Colesville Towers since October 2009 and will be moving out in July 2012. I have really enjoyed my stay here the past three years due to several reasons. First, nothing beats the location. It is walking distance to metro, downtown Silver Spring with all its entertainment, shops, and groceries. The new manager here is fantastic who has introduced number of improvements like installing energy efficient windows in all apartments and a new elevator. The management is very responsive and friendly. This has felt like home.

              Peaceful and cordial accomodation.

I have lived here from April,2011 to Feb,2012. I would not have moved out for my entire stay in USA from here because of the very reason that the Apartments are very good, comfortable besides, management is very responsive for all your queries and need. However, I had to move out because of my transfer to other city. I highly recommend those who are working in Washington DC & nearby and looking for Apartment to go and have a look. Shopping is also just a walking distance. Metro system is also not far. Metro Buses are available in plenty.

                Great location! Spacious apts!

Centrally located in downtown Silver Spring, you're in the middle and heart of pretty much everything. The building, similiar to many buildings in DTSS is a high rise and offers beautiful views of both city life and nature. The building has a mix of both hardwood and carpeted floors. The bedrooms, living room and dining room are very spacious and you can control the heat and air conditioning in each individual room. I believe the issues within the building are typical of most high rises in an urban or semi urban area. When I first moved into the building several years ago, I realized very early on that the management didn't care or consider meeting the needs of the residence in most matters. I believe there were very little attempts noticeable to the public to address major building issues. However, the building is currently under new management and I've begun to see a difference already. Management is really concerned about meeting the needs of the building and pays close attention to the residence's concerns as well. Lorena, the newest member seems to be advocating for the building and her work is already beginning to pay off! New windows and balcony doors have replaced the old which add a bright and clean difference. Perhaps my favorite part of the building is the attentiveness of the maintenance team. I've lived here for over five years and whenever ANY request is put in (large or small) it is filled the same day! The building service men and women have been involved with the building for years so they not only know the building inside and out, but are able to react to issues immediately. Overall all the positive attributes make it difficult to leave.

I moved in mid September . First I like the view of the colesville road from my balcony . The new windows installed made a big difference , the traffic noise is not overwhelming. It is like the quiet I Of the suburb in the heart of Silver spring I love the friendliness of the concierges and the professionalism of the management team and their commitment to tenant satisfaction. They deliver everything that the commit. I Love my new place. And I would highly recommend it .

A frat house is nicer but it is a roof over your head!

Colesville Towers is not the worst thing that will ever happen to you, but I wouldn't recommend it by any means. They try to glamour you when you're considering the location by taking you to the floors with marble flooring. They'll bait you with free parking or a guaranteed space at the top of the waitlist which will then not pan out. In fact, the experience is much like living in Greek housing in college. Most of the residents are recent grads or young professionals, so this treatment is fitting. The dorm mom would definitely be the head maintenance man. He is awesome--responds to things quickly, cares about his work, and does an excellent job at everything. He is the best part of living here. It's fortunate that he is so responsive because there are a lot of issues in the room. Examples: The cabinets are not flush again the wall in the kitchen or bathroom. Crumbs and other things can fall between and you have no way of cleaning it. This also exacerbates the bug problem in the building. My first night here I was woken up by a cockroach crawling up my arm in bed. We've found cockroaches in the sink, toilet, kitchen. After a comprehensive extermination in May, we started having problems with stinkbugs and all sorts of creepy-crawlies. The building used to have horrendous front desk staff, much like bad security at your college dorm. They've fired most of those people and gotten new staff, which really is something in CT's favor. I actually had one of the former staff yell at me for waking him up while he napped at the desk after I'd been locked outside for an hour because he wouldn't open the door. That's low. Which brings us to another point- security. There is none. They no longer keep the door open for people to stroll right in off the street but the desk will buzz anyone in the door and let them walk past. Like campus housing, you have little control over your heating/AC if you get it at all. Our living area has no temperature control while the kitchen (I know, wtf?) and bedroom do, but the units are not responsive to adjusting the temperature. Dealing with the management is also like dealing with college administrators--they're unresponsive and you never really know who they are despite the fact that you know their names. Letters from the manager are frequently taped up in the elevators or slid under the door of each room. In almost a year I've yet to see the new manager they brought on board. These postings are also confusing and arbitrary- like the fact that the elevator to the laundry room will no longer be available weekdays from 6 am-6 pm. As I hope you see from some of these points, Colesville Towers isn't going to be the worst experience of your life (unless you're really concerned about pests and security, as I am). It's like the college greek life housing experience 2.0, and for most of the people who are looking for space in this price range, I'm sure that's not a problem.

                      Absolutely NOT

The day I viewed the apartment I was impressed with the size of the 1 bedroom unit with an eat in kitchen and full balcony. The agent was able to discount the rent 2 month's free, and prorate the discount for a 12 month lease. I had previously lived at (sister building) Cole Spring Plaza, and had been impressed with that Property Manager, Sumintra Singh. I signed on the spot with Colesville Towers, expecting the same incredible management I'd experienced at Coles Spring Plaza, the sister building directly across the street. I was sadly dissapointed. The day I moved in I saw a roach, and I have seen a roach in my building every week ever since. Each time I saw a roach, it has been in the same location on my wall. I have had my building sprayed every Friday since I moved in (and the Friday before the Saturday that I'd moved in) to no avail. Granted, I did see some roaches towards the summer months of my year long rental at Cole Spring Plaza, but after spraying for a week the problem stopped. It appears Colesville Towers has an infestation. Management: There appears to be no building manager at the property. All notices to residents are crudely typed and posted, taped to the walls of elevators and signed "Management." What sort of tenants live here that I awoke one day to find a detailed 'memo' outlining the rental due dates? At Cole Spring, at least the manager signed all memos and notices, you knew who you were dealing with, and there was a nice frame in the elevator for all memos. Beware of any building which should have a building manager but doesn't, has awful reviews, and do NOT be a fool (as I was) and buy into the verbal list of improvements made, etc. 24 Hour Concierge: There is no key fob system (as in Cole Spring Plaza), so if you go out for dinner with friends over the weekend, be prepared to rap hard on the 2-way mirror for the "concierge" to buzz you in. IF you lose your keys, be prepared to book a hotel. The rude concierge will ask you to wait until they can find the manager but they won't be able to locate the person for multiple hours and you won't be able to get into your unit until they do. The concierges at Cole Spring knew the residents because they greeted them everyday - Colesville Concierges do not speak to <most> residents (unless you are from their home countries) and unlike Cole Spring Concierges, Colesville Concierges cannot let you in on their own. Also, I have never met less qualified, customer service oriented concierges in my life. There is one older gentleman with very thick glasses who does not speak to most residents as they pass, seems clearly irritated when I ask for a package, and is rude and abrupt when I ask him a question about the fitness cetner, pool, etc. There are several younger concierges, the late-night concierge usually has his headphones on and his head down, focused on the computer. I constantly greet him, and he just looks back down at his computer (isn't it his job to greet residents??). The leasing agents are nice, but this place is run like a modern day slum. WHO is the property manager? The last person left and I never received a notice with who would replace them. I did get a notice under my door when the original building manager left. There is no security in the building, packages are dropped off in front of your door (WHAT is the CONCIERGE DOING??) and left for you to find when you come home, your Chinese food unceremoniously comes to your front door (ColeSpring Concierges used to give residents a PHONE CALL so that they may come down if they do not wish to have their food delivered to their unit.) The whole reason I elected to stay within Kay properties is because of the experience I had at Cole Spring, which unfortunately did not have any 1 bedrooms available when my lease was up (I had a studio before). As a single woman living alone, Colesville should do more with their concierges, or fire them all because they do not provide any extra peace of mind. The hallways are dim and the paint is blatantly chipped, the pool goes uncovered when not in use and you can see the stinky, murky water from your balcony. There isn't any parking available in the pitiful garage - you'll have to park nearby. They clearly do not adhere to their dog policy as I have seen several dobermans in the building! I'm getting out of here as soon as possible and I intend to spread the word. The rental agent offered residents $100 to go on here and post something favorable... in other words to write a biased review. Take what you want from this review, its the truth. They can keep the $100.

                        Great location, good apartment

What's good here is: The location - about three city blocks from the Silver Spring metro - the neighborhood which is settled suburban and features a downtown with great shopping, casual dining, several movie theaters including the American Film Institute and a new municipal center with outdoor winter ice skating(!) Maintenance - I've had a thirty-minute turnaround on emergency maintenance at midnight on a Saturday. Maintenance staff is generally friendly and responsive. Lobby - staff is friendly and competent with delivered packages, etc. The lobby is spacious and attractive. Laundry - well-lit, modern and accessible by elevator from dwellings. One of the few apartments I've lived in where the laundry area wasn't isolated and often downright scary. What's acceptable: Rent increases - recently kept to under three percent, though prior to the economic bust in 2008 they tended to be higher. Parking - well, it's downtown Silver Spring; you'll either pay for parking in the building or somewhere else, and only two of three public pay parking garages in the immediate vicinity still operate (a forth was torn down to make way for the municipal center. Parking is currently 100-120 dollars a month, indoors with elevator access to dwellings. Pest control - Mice and roaches appear from time to time. Extermination is carried out effectively and throughout the building in response. Not so good - apartment fixtures, cabinets functional but old; kitchen areas are small and don't feature ventilation fans.

As with everything, pros and cons. I like the location, the parquet wood floors throughout, climate control in each room, one flat rate covers rent and utilities, additional storage in the basement, and underground garage parking. I have my king-size sleigh bed, armoire, desk, chair and ottoman in my master bedroom. The new apartment buildings charging $3k month- I couldn't fit my furniture into. I HATE like the a/c system. It doesn't take the humidity out of the air and we suffer miserably with the heat if we stay home for the weekend during the summer. I had to get an electric skillet and toaster oven because using the oven puts out too much heat for the a/c to conquer. (It s good in the winter, however) Roaches- no joke. I grew up in Florida and learned early that spraying a baseboard once a month is not pest control. I bought bait from Home Depot when we moved in (comes in a tube like toothpaste does). I removed all of the electric face covers and put the bait in the walls and around the pipes in the bathroom and kitchen walls. This keeps the roaches out of my apartment completely. In about 6 months I saw a dead roach and I baited again. It works. (Don t know why they don t do it in the building as a general rule.) Rodents- I had a mouse who liked to try to come have coffee with me in the mornings about 5:30. I didn t learn how to deal with mice in a high-rise when I lived in Florida and I was madder than a hatter. Husband put out snap traps and management put down glue traps. They got in the way when I was mopping and the mouse still showed up for coffee. My third call, the maintenance supervisor (very nice by the way) put up wire mesh around the holes in the walls where the pipes go into the wall and I watched him suspiciously, spitting fire (I was not very nice, by the way). Admittedly, I have had my coffee in peace ever since- it has kept them out of MY place. I should thank him. Something very concerning; I have been walked in on three times. Only once could I chalk it up to an honest maintenance mistake and no harm done. The other two times my door opened during the day (when normal people would be at work) and then slam shut. I assumed it s because they heard me or my TV. I ve heard them collecting the recycle items each time (I am right across from the closet) so I presume it s the cleaning crew. I notified management and have not noticed anything missing from my apartment (still have all three laptops), but after reading the other reviews I probably will change the deadbolt for the duration of my stay. For us it s quiet, safe, roomy, economical and miserably hot in the summer. If you are looking to live downtown, need lots of room, and know how to take care of simple issues yourself (don t mind hot summers...ugh) it s a value. I wouldn t buy it if it were a condo (no washer and dryer in unit- no central, individual a/c), but for two years it will do.

Wish this were a condo we could buy.

I don't know which floors other contributers lived on, but here on the top floor (11) we have enjoyed the last two years. And if we hadn't bought a house, we wish we could buy this 2-bed, 2-bath as a condo. Great location. The only noise is from the traffic on Colesville itself. The hallways are always swept, and the granite tiles are often washed. I enjoy practicing my Spanish with the maintenance staff, although they speak English very well. Every repair I needed done was completed in one day and I never had problems with it. I do have to pay $100/mo for parking--not unreasonable. I have friends in DC proper who pay $125 or more per month. I drive a 2009 car, and NOTHING has ever been touched on my car. No scratches, dents, no broken windows or theft. And in my last apartment, that happened TWICE. There's decent lighting for safety, and the front desk seems to check people coming in and out during late hours. We have relatively new, efficient appliances that were installed when we moved in. Low-flow shower heads with good water pressure. New lighting fixtures that are nice with efficient halogen bulbs. Never had to change one in the two years we've been here. Bathrooms are small, but they sink/cabinets were replaced two years ago. The grout could use a good scrubbing, but it just was not a great idea to use light tile and white grout. Too hard to keep sparkling clean. I was sold on the parquet floors. All the way through the unit. Some units have carpet which would be a big turn off for me. I love that each of the big rooms has its own thermostat (bedrooms, living room, kitchen) so you can be more eco-friendly by not running air in rooms you're not in. Is this Shangri-La? No, but you're not going to find that for less than $2500 in Silver Spring. And even then, friends of mine in a "swankier" building near Takoma Park have had major noise and filth problems because of the rooftop lounge. Truly, if this were a condo, we'd buy it, gut the bathrooms, and put a new floor in the kitchen. It's urban living, my friends. For the price, this is the best place in downtown Silver Spring.

Manager is never at the office, maintenance service is horrible, and people are stealing things from the apartment. My friend had her laptop stolen. How secure is this place, if people can access your keys and take your personal items. The building is filthy and the front desk staff are not professional at all. On top of that, are the pest problems. Roaches, Rats,Bed-bugs every kind of pest you can think about is here. My friend has to call pest control numerous times.

My experience at Colesville Towers: make a report to landlord tenant affairs!

I rate my experience at Colesville Towers as a 1 because I did meet several wonderful neighbors while I lived there. I moved into Colesville Towers in the summer of 1990. At the time, the building was owned by another management company and it had a resident manager who had been in the building more than 20 years. I moved into the building because it was beautiful, conveniently located and had a sense of community. After the company that currently manages the building took over, the building many things began to change. 1. The building was infested with mice, mold and roaches. I personally reported the building to the Landlord Tenant affairs office about these matters, although I continued to pay rent until I lost my job in August of 2006. On one occasion when I first reported a mouse in my apartment, I was told that it was not a priority. The mouse, which had a baby during that time, ran around the apartment for a month. After I succeeded in killing the baby, the mouse urinated on my comforter and defecated on my sheets. I slept with the lights on for a month. 2. There appeared to be frequent instances when the elevators required attention. On March 28, 2005, I fell and was badly injured when one of the elevators in the bank of elevators immediately outside of the lobby failed to clear the floor. Once management knew that I was injured a series of problems arose. a) Several agents of Colesville Towers instructed the doctors office not to provide treatment to me. b) I learned that the elevator had not been inspected and did not have a current certificate. c) One of the management staff walked into my apartment while I was sleeping, nearly giving me a heart-attack. I slept with my door barricaded for months. Several weeks later, I ended up in the hospital with a cardiace incident. When the building's insurer learned that I had sustained nerve damage to my back and legs, the company told me that I would not receive any settlement because Maryland was a contributory fault state. 3. The attorney for Colesville Towers created a public document that impugned my character and suggested that I was falsely reporting the injury that I had sustained; although I developed nerve damage after I fell. 4. Despite the fact that I had been injured by falling in the malfunctioning, uninspected, uncertified elevator in 2005, on October 26, 2006, while I was away taking care of a sick friend, all of my belongings were put out on the sidewalk because I had lost my job and could not pay my rent, although I continued to try to negotiate with Colesville Towers' insurer. Witnesses at the scene reported that people were told to go out and take my belongings; however, I do not know if this was true. 5. When negotiating failed, I filed litigation because I was advised to do so. On June 6, 2008, I went to the first hearing of the lawsuit that I filed against the management company for Colesville Towers. It was then that I learned the power of money in the county where Colesville Towers is located. No one from the management company, Colesville Towers, or the company's attorney appeared at the hearing; however, when I requested both Default and Summary Judgment in the matter, the Judge denied it. The Chief Judge also denied my request for reconsideration of the ruling. To my knowledge, there is no case in the County where a tenant had failed to appear in court, and the landlord did appear, when the landlord did not get the Judgment against the tenant; however, the Court appeared to be unwilling to grant a Judgment against the company that managed Colesville Towers. It appears that might makes right. I have reported this matter to the Justice Department and urge others who have had problems to file complaints with the Office of Landlord Tenant Affairs, as I did. On July 11, 2009, I learned that Colesville Towers is owned by one of the companies that developed the area around the courthouse in the county where Colesville Towers is located. Consequently, I realized that the court would rule in favor of the company at the trial that took place on July 13, 2009. As I suspected, on that date, the new attorney for Colesville Towers filed a motion to suppress all of the evidence that the company had received state and county violation notices and to suppress the testimony of one of the inspectors who had issued the notice. Of course, once all of the evidence was gone and the testimony was gone, the court through out the case. Before moving in, I would advise any prospective tenant to check the number of complaints that have been filed with the Office Of Landlord Tenant Affairs and review the documents that were placed in the record of the litigation that was filed against the owner in March of 2008. I also have pictures of the mold in my apartment and copies of the citations for mold, water damage, gnats and roaches. Feel free to request them.

Every morning when I flip on the kitchen lights, bugs run for cover.... everywhere. It is a health hazard living with so many pests. I am moving in 2 weeks and afraid to even box up my belongings for fear of taking pests with me to my new (pest free) apartment. I won't even go into the 2 weeks where we were all dying from heat exhaustion. Management won't turn on the air conditioning until a certain date not a certain temperature.

                                      managment folks are rude!

I lived here for three years. This is no doubt a nice area to live in. This building, not so much. There are cockroaches problems in the summer. And Heat and air-conditioning are often delayed. The walls in the units are paper thin, you may want to avoid leaning against the wall. Some neighbor would complain that your TV is too loud at 8pm. Once in a while, there would be no hot water, but you probably won't find out until you jump into the shower and it's freezing cold. Security of the building is a problem, doormen let pretty much anyone in even without the door code. Packages are often left at your door instead of frontdesk. You should be jumping in joy if your package is not stolen from your door. The side door and back door of the building are often left open by the residence. This led to an incident where the laundry room was vandalized and/or robbed. The staff at the management office/leasing office are the rudest people and they just don't give a crap. The two who used to work here are so, and so is the two new people. My feelings towards them is that they are out to get you and can't be trusted. Parking is not bad, it does cost extra $100 a month.

Have lived in this development for four years. I have conversed with several others in the building. One of our biggest concerns is the pest problem. I have never lived in a place where I paid high rent and had such a pest problem. Outside of the pest it is a nice building in a great location.

First I would like to say that I like Colesville Towers because of the location I'm near the city and all the fabulous dining areas. the only problem I have is the roaches they are very unbearable everytime you turn on the lights in your bathroom or in the kitchen they are there like they pay rent. I'm just tired of them I want them to leave I don't like them. I eat out alot because you are scarred to cook anything without them being around. Overall I like my apt. but the roaches has to GO!

I'm not a happy camper after living in the Colesille Towers for a year but I am here not to turn people away but to give you a good picture of what you will get for the low rent that you will pay at this place. I'll share a few of my favorite stories. 1) One Sunday morning I got a call on my cell phone from the front desk saying that there was "vomit covering my door" and I had two hours to clean it up or i would be charged. I learned later that there was also vomit all over the hallway and that someone had called down saying that they "thought it was the people in my apt" - I wasnt even home when they called because I was on a business trip and had been for 3 days. They actually tried to charge me for the clean up. 2) The roach problem is AWFUL. This building is nothing short of infested. I had roaches in my dishwasher, in my living room, in the bathroom - pretty much everywhere in the apartment. My apartment was sprayed 4 times during a year and it did next to nothing to fix the problem. 3) The management team is nice as long as you don't bring them anything that involves them doing more work. Once you ask for something you are treated harshly - if they return phone calls at all. If you ask to speak to a supervisor - you are given a disconnected number - I'm not exaggerating here folks. So to sum up. This place is a good deal financially speaking - I wont debate that. The front door people are nice, the gym is decent, and the location is great. Just know why this place is cheap before you move in and don't say I didn't tell you so when you move out with your teeth clenched and roach eggs covering all your possessions.

                                              I'm just being honest...

With the housing market in a slump, and people moving back into the city, it's no surprise that a place like Colesville Towers is still in business. Colesville Towers is a perfect example of the supply and demand principle in action: demand for apartments in Silver Spring is up, and availability is down--causing rent prices to skyrocket and quality to take the backseat. In addition to the rent check you will sign every month, expect to: squash cockroaches, deal with shoddy maintenance, have zero assistance from a rude weekend staff, and spend your time cursing over a constellation of other issues and annoyances. The kicker? When you leave, there will be someone ready to take your place. Supply and demand. For the sake of being objective, I will say that there are some things that I did appreciate: 1. Very close to downtown Silver Spring 2. Free gym 3. Free Utilities* (air conditioning is free, but isn t always working, and is officially shut off end of September- how about that 90-degree weather we ve been having in October lately?) I spent time thinking of a third benefit, but couldn't land on anything that wasn't partially tainted. In any case, I seriously cannot recommend spending your hard-earned money here. My top-4 reasons not to: 1. Cockroaches: disgusting! After moving everything out of our kitchen to have it fumigated, the bugs were back within two days. You must learn to love insects if you plan to live here. 2. Collapsing kitchen cabinets. Came back from vacation to find my kitchen cabinet unit broken on the floor (along with every dish shattered inside of it). Maintenance was quick to resolve the situation: they screwed the same - now damaged -cabinet back into the wall. Maybe it will hold for the next person living there. No apology from management for the incident. 3. Laundry room washers and dryers are like Vegas slot machines - expect to lose a buck or two to the house before you find a machine that works. 4. Rude weekend staff- they're always sure to let you know what an inconvenience you are. My Rating: 3/10 To My Responder: Thanks for responding to my review. I'm glad to see that people are out there reading these. If you are management responding as 'anonymous', even better, because it's important for you to see this. The experiences I've listed are actual events that led me to this opinion. Based on what I personally experienced, I cannot recommend living here. To address your concern: no, Colesville Towers is not the ------- this IS Silver Spring after all. That said, other than the nice-looking lobby, I found nothing luxurious about living in this apartment community. In the end, it is up to you to make the final decision to live here. So people, read each review carefully and then make an educated decision based on the opinions expressed on this site.

My studio was spacious and well arranged. I found the staff extremely polite and responsive, and the building was immaculate. I'll agree with the comment that the back door is an issue, but generally this is a good place to live.

I have three major complaints...<br><br>#1 safety...the managment refuses to give the tenents a key to the back door, so people prop it open for access.<br>The problem is that this door is next to the laundry room where I no longer feel safe in the evenings because of <br>the riff raff wandering around. <br> .<br>#2 poor workmanship and maintenance... the response time can be slow and the workmanship is always horrible. I have<br>to watch over them like a hawk just to get the most modest of repairs. Often, we just do it ourselves.<br><br>#3 extremely rude managment....One of the assistant managers is incredibly rude. We almost did not take the apartment <br>because of her poor people skills. Frankley, I believe she is mentally ill. Luckilly, my profession is in mental health<br>so I don't take it personally. My husband on the other hand refuses to deal with her because of her constant inability<br>to talk him without rolling her eyes and saying something rude and offensive .<br>If you come to look at an apartment you will know what I am talking about. She is not having a bad day, she is always<br>nasty.<br><br>Overall, you get what you pay for. The rent is the cheapest for hardwood floors and it is very close to the metro. If<br>you can put up with the above, it may be worth the hassels. Of course, there<br>are some good things about the building. The doorstaff is courteous and we have had little problems with bugs. The building is<br>next to a large park ,a library, and very close to Whole Foods. All this outweighs the above until we make a bit more to afford the personal touches that come with a nicer building.<br>
