Maintenance Issues and Bad Management
I wish that zero stars was an option. We have been living here for only 2 months and we have yet to have a working dishwasher in our apartment. It was broken when we moved in and very obviously had not been tested by anyone before allowing us to move into the apartment. This was on December 7th. We told management that it was broken on our "oops" sheet and we have since then had maintenance in our apartment 4 times to try to fix it. Once the incorrect company was called in to service it and they left without telling us that they were the wrong person, once management called a technician to come in on a day that they were leaving the office early and failed to let them into the building. And once the technician said that they needed to order a part that would take 2-3 WEEKS to arrive. I wish this was the only issue to occur in our, so far, 60 day stay in this apartment complex, however there have been many other maintenance issues that have arisen during this time. There have been 6 emergency water shut off notices, the service elevator has been broken on 5 different occasions (at least one of those resulting in someone having to be rescued from the interior of the elevator), the garage door to the second level is stuck permanently open which is a huge security risk as the entrance to that level is now unprotected, and to top it all off the GAS, HEATING, HOT WATER, and COOKING has been shut off for the past 30 hours. Wherever you move in Silver Spring, DO NOT move into this apartment.

Colesville Towers is in an excellent location. The building is nice and clean. The management/leasing team was friendly and helpful. The views are spectacular and their veryreasonably priced for this location. The unit that I viewed was very large, and the building and community amenities seem great. Their fitness center is open 24 hours which is very convenient.

The community is very quiet well rounded, I enjoy living here. I like the shopping centers and surrounding areas are very convenient.The people here are very nice. The park is very close by , it's very kid friendly, lots of dogs around and also a doggy park close by. Overall very nice place to live.

Very respectful staff and tenants. Nice amenities and great location to restaurants, shopping and public transportation. Underground secure parking is a big plus. Concierge is friendly knowledgeable and helpful.

Very good overall. Amenities provided are satisfactory. Rent & parking is reasonable for the area. Generally clean. Safety and security are a large concern. Doors are often left open & unguarded. This has already resulted in several incidents of non-residents harassing and otherwise harming the residents of the building. Part of the issue is other residents, and especially the lack of security on the first level of the garage, where the loading dock door is. Many residents will leave doors which are supposed to be locked wide open or will open doors for those who knock on the outside. Garage door on the same level was another source of non-resident inflow into the building.

This community is fine. The amenities such as the gym are okay if there are any machines working. Besides that, we've had incidents where the security (for afterhours) have not been present and there have been events where the building was vandalized.

Overall it has been a positive experience. The problems have come from tenants causing damages or noise issues. The location is ideal except for traffic issues exiting the garage, which cannot be helped.

I love the not being able to hear in other units. I the quick response with maintenance. Clean except for the dirty carpets in the hallways. Embarrassing when having a guest. I hate the roaches and mice which are hard to control., no matter how clean you keep your apartment.

I like my unit. The building has problems. I wish they would let residents use our FOB at the back door. That would be much more secure than people who need access in the back leaving it open. This feature should be considered for an update.

I love it here, rent is affordable, management is flexible, the view is amazing, the accessibility to downtown silver spring life is a plus since i can walk everywhere from grocery stores, restaurants, bars, lounges, metro station & other things.

It has been a ridiculous roller coaster. I went through hell during a pandemic because of flooding in my apartment. I spent 3 weeks in a hotel incurred a ridiculous amount of bills in debt because of it and the community act like nothing happened because it was different management at the time. I was lied to about the compensation I was going to receive and now you guys are hitting me with a $650 bill that's based off complete lies that the previous property manager apparently put into my file. When you talk to the current property manager her response is she's only concerned about the current apartment I'm in not the previous one. I never sued the property even though I was advised to and now they're telling me I need to pay all this money back to them. You claim that you have amenities that don't exist or are not accessible yet you don't compensate anyone for it. Maintenance requests are hit or miss. Rodents and roaches plague many people in the building yet they're treated like they're the troublemakers for wanting something done. I don't know how much longer I can take it here

Cattle and inmates have more rights than do Colesville Towers tenants
I wish zero stars was an option. We have been living here for a year and a half now, and it’s gotten progressively worse. Currently, it is 98 degrees in our apartment, which is on the top floor with south-facing windows, because the A/C for the whole building was turned off on October 6th, well before cold weather fully arrives in the DC area. We have 4 fans going full blast, all curtains fully closed, and no ice maker. Our cats are suffering, as they cannot leave the apartment to seek “relief” outside in the 80 degree weather. Cattle and inmates have more rights when it comes to temperature regulation than do the residents of Colesville Towers. We have spoken with management about the issue, with no resolution offered whatsoever. Not even an extra fan to borrow or an ice tray. This is not the first time our apartment has reached the 90s, as this has happened three other times since we moved in. Every spring and fall are unbearable, as they refuse to leave the A/C on for the comfort of their tenants, instead opting to save money and only offer us A/C from mid-May through early October. Those of us facing south (roughly half of the units in the building) have no use for heat year-round, though it’s on and available from October through April, thus saving Ross Management money on HVAC expenses while their tenants endure inhumane conditions. Beyond that, we have had repeated issues with cockroaches, and even a mouse one time – again, on the 11th story – despite our diligent cleanliness and pest deterrents. Management is unresponsive to emails, making in-person visits to the office the only way to communicate with them. The gym is in great disrepair, multiple laundry machines are often out of order, and the windows to the lobby have been broken three times over the past year by unruly tenants. Packages routinely have been stolen with few repercussions. Tenants are encouraged to purchase their own doorbell cameras to protect their packages from being stolen, rather than management spending any resources to install a single security camera on each floor (they’re in the elevators only). We see no reason to provide a notice of moving out, as management has put in no effort to make us want to stay any longer than is absolutely necessary. We plan to make a formal complaint with Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs. No one should have to live like this.

Pretty mediocre- people smoke in the building and there is a bug problem that either cannot or will not be solved. They also turned off the A/C early- with it off my apartment hit 80 degrees. It is a fair amount of space for the price though.

Well located in downtown Silver Spring with an extremely capable management staff that is very responsive to any problems in the unit. The parking nearby is not good since the construction next door & raising underground parking rates seems counter productive.

The management and staff used to be more personable and congenial. Now they are more distant and less likely to convey they want to work with residents. The building also used to be more attractive and clean. Now the lobby windows have been boarded up for weeks.

TERRIBLE, I had a resident assault and attack me and instead of listening to me and my side you all decided to send me a fake eviction notice. I filed several police reports against this person as well as your unprofessional staff.

I moved in about a month ago and it has been nothing but helpfulness and professionalism, even before moving in. They helped me with the process for paperwork in a timely fashion and got me into my apartment as soon as possible. I'm grateful for the staff in this building!
