The single worst housing experience of my life

I have massive regrets about ever leasing an apartment with the Blairs. My partner and I live in Blair House and over three months ago our apartment, as well as the apartments of three of our neighbors, were condemned by Montgomery County housing code inspectors. They were afraid that an exterior wall on the 11th and 12th floors could collapse (but not the entire building). They apparently had zero knowledge of this until we tipped them off about an issue with our wall. Blair House is a very old building and I could not and would not recommend that anyone lives here. Blair House management (Tower Companies) doesn't even seem to have emergency protocols in place for when they have to displace residents because they have handled this so unbelievably poorly. Management has been insultingly incompetent and unable to express empathy, even in a devastating situation like ours. If you're working with Blair House management, be prepared for hollow, robotic statements backed up by zero action. Three months later, the repairs aren't done and there is currently a huge hole on the side of the building on the 11th and 12th floors. Their initial 8 week timeline for repair has turned into at least 5, but probably 6+ months. We have been displaced for 3+ months already in an apartment that is smaller than our old unit and we have to be on top of management to get even small updates about anything. They repeatedly seem surprised that we're still upset about this whole situation and act like we should be grateful that they put us into another (worse) unit in the building. We're just numbers and dollar signs to them, not human beings. They act like they're these revolutionary, kind landlords, but it's all a front for their greed.

Major mouse problem throughout the entire Blair house. And management is doing nothing to solve it. Multiple requests have been put in and they send out the pest control service who then do nothing. Management has stated their pest control service is not good and still continues to use them. Maintenance was supposed to fill holes in the apartment and didn’t until after I had to track them down to fix my fridge. They had no intention of ever fixing the holes. This has been going on for 6 months and management is saying they are going to solve problems but still has yet to do anything to even just slow down the problem. Do not live here nothing will ever be fixed.

Don't consider this place as a home. The management are horrible. I enjoyed this apartment up until I had to deal with management. They are rude and genuinely don't care about you. If you have a minor question about the lease? They wont respond. If you have a problem with water temperature? They wont respond. If maintenance guys bust into your room at 9AM without explaining why? They wont respond. They seriously show what a lack of integrity in the workplace looks like. If this place hired management who cared and actually responded to the tenants, it might be a decent place to live. Beware, the individuals in management will retaliate. They will try to make you miserable for holding them accountable. Look up other reviews and check the Silver Springs reddit for real reviews of this place. It's notorious. The rooms are also just cheap. They do real a shoddy job of "repairing" things. You'd think it's a crack shack in Chicago. Please be careful choosing where you live. They dont lock the doors here so anyone can come off the street and make it to your doorstep, and there are some unsavory individuals who hangout nearby.

I enjoy living in the community. It is safe, however people come and steal your Honda car tires. I do see the police come by more often, hopefully that fixes the issue. Otherwise the community is fine.

This is a great place to live. everything is well kept. The atmosphere is very good, there's no excessive noise, also the management always make sure if a complaint is made, it gets taken cared of. MAJOR plus is there are no insects.

We are brand new here but so far are enjoying our experience. The neighbors are friendly, the complex is conveniently located, and the apartment is very cute and cozy. The only complaint that we have is that we can hear the neighbors upstairs and they are very loud, bumping and thumping. Unfortunately, I do not think that can be remedied.

My experience is fair right now. I say fair because I am not pleased with the rate of parking-there was a $30 increase made in August. Additionally, although its expected post covid I am not pleased with the rent increase coming up.

Blair East is a great place to be. It is a safe and very clean community. It is accessible to the metro and other places. Apartment needs are met with great care and speed. It is also close by CVS and Giant you don't need to drive miles to get your grocery store

I have really enjoyed these past three years her at the Blair. I look forward to seeing what the next two years are . going to bring here. My sister also moved upstairs and she loves it . The building personnel is also great. This is a great place to call home.

My experience has been good except the disturbing noise we have been experiencing since day 1 every single night coming fron Unit 308, every single day after 12am this person starts pushing furniture back and forth all night long, every hour, as you can imagine that completely compromises the life quality we was expecting as not being able to rest properly in a daily basis! The issue has been reported several times to the front desk and overnight patrol, management is aware of it, and nothing changed yet

On my first visit, I felt welcomed and appreciated. I was provided a tour of all properties and given an opportunity to decide without feeling hassled. The office well well staffed with little or no wait time. The tour and accessibility of the units were of ease. The office staff-professional and kind. The property well maintained. Love the "coffee"!!!!

The apartment sizes are great and it's fairly quiet except for construction repairs. It's an older building so there are ongoing projects. The staff is very good. Location is excellent with access to the Metro.

Blair Apartments vicinity is accessible to all basic individual needs like workplace, schools or universities, groceries, hospitals, churches, etc. During my stay here at this apartment there was no untoward incident that happened. Indeed a good place to stay.

Heavy roach infestation upon my move in. Ihas taken six months to get insect sightings to an average of one per week (hope I have not jinxed this). Although staff seems friendly, it has taken several calls and in person requests to secure some of the required maintenance.

Leasing was made easy along with reasonable price and spectacular view on DC and Rock Creek Park. I love how quiet the apartment and building are as well. The Giant supermarket and CVS Pharmacy make it convenient for a handicapped resident.

I have had nothing but positive experiences since moving in to the Blair plaza. I love my studio it is comfortable and spacious. The building itself is extremely quiet, everyone is very accommodating and respectful of their space. The location is great walking out the back door to a grocery store pharmacy eating establishments is wonderful. I love the park area that is next to the building. Only thing missing is a balcony I would be golden .

It's been good so far. Convenient grocery store and close to downtown silver spring. Close to DC and is quieter than being directly in the downtown area. Neighbors are somewhat friendly and respectful. Great community to live in.

We moved in October 2022, so we can not speak to the long term living experience but the move-in process and everything leading up to it was great. Our leasing agent was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. We were only able to do a video call tour because we were moving from out of state, and even that went smoothly and we felt like we knew what we were getting into. Since moving in, we have had quick response from the staff for any issues that have come up. The front desk staff are particularly friendly and helpful. The building is old but they've done a lot of work to update it and overall things look great. Our apartment has beautiful, brand new LG appliances which we were told are slowly being installed in all apartments as they turn them over for new residents. The community spaces and events held around the buildings are fun and residents seem to really feel like they are a community. There are a lot of dog/pet owners, which has its pros and cons, but I enjoy seeing everyone out playing with their dogs in the green space on a late warm afternoon. Probably the only real cons we have experienced is the parking (which is limited) and the laundry (mostly just an inconvenience really, it is not in-unit and there are only 2 sets of machines for our floor) but even though are minor. Overall, the experience of moving here as two young professionals has been very positive and we are enjoying ourselves. Based on our experience so far, I would recommend The Blairs to anyone!
