Don't be fooled
I have lived here less than a year and don't recall a month where there was never an issue. For starters, the property is only taken care of in the front where future residents are taken. The landscaping in the back is poor as well as the overall maintenance. The parking situation is another issue. Countless residents have more than one car, which no one can fault them but the manager had said she was going to put parking numbers or stickers and that fell through. The amenities at the club house are only opened during certain hours and you need to ask for the key in order to use them. The pool during the summer opens late and is always under maintenance. The lounge chairs and umberellas are all boken. The amenities you pay for you cannot even use. As for the apartments themselves, they have nice floor plans that are spacious yet the walls are thin and I often hear my neighbors and they are not even that noisy. The appliances in the apartment break easily and you always need to call for maintenance. When you place an order make sure you are prepared to wait for months on end unless you bother them every day which they become bothered by. The people in the office except for one are rude. Steve was the best one there and since he left and the manager went on maternity leave the place just keeps going down. This place needs a pick me up and whatever it is it will take a looong time before they consider making any changes. Look somewhere else because prices are out of control. Don't be fooled by the fake personalities you get when looking at the complex. And if visiting during winter months be aware of the ice because they think its absolutely fine to leave things the way they are unless a million people complain about it first.

DRASTIC DECLINE IN PROPERTY
Preston Reserve Apartments, now known as CENTURY PRESTON RESERVE as of February 2010. Along with the ownership change came management and maintenance changes. These changes are not for the best, and leave much to be desired in efficiency. The new manager is surely not qualified to manage a complex of this capacity. She does not respond to tenants problems and is most concerned with the budget rather than the property. There have been many lights out around the complex and many calls have to be made to the office before they are fixed. The office staff is unfriendly and at times very rude. When calling the office the phone rings (staff in office) but, the staff lets it go to voice mail and then never returns your call. The maintenance crew also appears to be unqualified as the complex is becoming shabby. The fitness center is dirty and the adjoining restrooms have no paper towels or toilet tissue and appear not to have been cleaned for sometime. The waste receptacle at the mail kiosk is overflowing and the area around the kiosk is littered with debris. There has also been a change in the landscaping company and the new landscaping company by all appearances, also should bereplaced. There is dog feces everywhere, and even the new tenants do not respect the surrounding area, allowing animals to defecate and not pick up after their pets. The rents have increased and with the rapid decline in this property there is no justification for these increases. PLEASE BRING BACK JASON, STEVE AND GIVE US BACK PRESTON RESERVE.

Not Worth It
I have been living here for about 4 months since i moved in my washer and dryer have been broken they never fixed it and it took for the dryer to burn my clothes for them to give me a new one, same thing with the ice outside they cant even get rid of the ice on the road or sidewalks its going to take for someone to fall get hurt and SUE the place for them to actually fix the problem. Whats so hard to clean the premises that people pay for over priced apartments and i have to say this place is very unorganized, My biggest problem is the Management and Maintanance I hear people complain all the time about them waiting over a month to get one simple thing fixed in their apartment. I myself have problems with Maintanence they come to fix something a month or two after you place an order and they fix it for a few weeks and then its the same problem again. The office is extremely rude exept for one person. For the rest all they tell you is theres nothing that i can do! Which its really irritating. Steve was a great assistant manager but the new one is no where close. This palce would be much better if they start getting maintanance done and have the office people be more courteous and helpfull or changed. You dont even pay for the location because theres nothing around and the complex is not all that. Pool opens late and is always under maintanance. Pleople break into cars, damage property and there is never parking. You cant even rent out the clubhouse or go in after 5pm. If you get a package you have to wait until the next day. Its an inconvenience all the way around from the apartments to the ammentities that you cant even use half the time to the parking. Would not recomend anyone moving in or renewing a lease here. Godo thing i chose month by motnh I'm moving out ASAP!!!

paying for location
At first glance this complex is everything you could want. But once your eyes adjust you begin to realize that the prestigious Preston area of Cary is really what you're paying for. The grounds are well kept, and there is valet trash service. The indoor basketball court is a halfcourt but indoor nonetheless. The gym is small but serviceable. The problems come with broken promises of repairs, walls thin enough that I'm surprised I can't see through them, and alas the horrible parking. Management can't fix the walls. They can make good on repairs. And they MUST fix the parking situation. I've lived here two months and its gotten to the point where my wife and I are praying that a parking spot in FRONT of our building will be available when we get home. We've had to park 2 and occasionally 3 buildings away. It's by far the worst part of being here and its something we heard about before moving here but we greatly underestimated our tolerance for the lack of convenience that a close park provides. Also upon arrival we were assured that maintenance was going to be busy painting buildings, fixing roofs, and powerwashing stairwells. None of which have been done. But with all that being said I live in the Preston area of Cary,NC.

New management team is on the right track
I've been living at this complex for over a year and would recommend it. The new management team from Century seems committed to making the development a neighborhood, and not just a place to live. The 'old regime' did things well and, from what I see so far, the new property manager Sara Phillips wants to take things up a notch. We've already had one "residents' night out", and similar get-togethers are planned to promote getting to know your neighbor. The clubhouse, with a fitness gym, workout classes and basketball court, among other amenities, has a little something for everyone. The pool area, complete with hot tub, gazebo and bbq grill, is a beautiful place to unwind during the nice weather. The grounds are well maintained and the staff has always been quick to respond to any repair issue. It is within a short drive to just about everything you could need, including Bond Park and RDU airport. I just renewed my lease as my kids don't want to move anywhere else!

Management company for Preston's Reserve Apt. - Boca Florida - BAD BAD
I moved out of Preston's Reserve in Cary NC at the end of January 2010. The deposit was returned to me after the water bill was paid. The check written on Feb. 16 for the amount was less than 36.00 dollars. I tried to deposit the check into my account on March 1, and I was told that there was not enough money from this management company to pay me. I tried again on March 4th, and the same answer was received: no money in the account for check written to me. The check was from Wachovia, and my account is also from Wachovia. Therefore, the bank could tell me if there's enough money. Caution to people who do not have the same bank with the check issue. The bank may charge you for depositing a check with insufficient fund (and also charge the management company). If they do not have money in their account to pay you, more likely you'll have a hard time getting them to pay for your fine from your bank. The best thing to do is to take it to Wachovia (or whichever the bank is) to get the cash, then spend it or deposit into your account later.

Noise is a problem
Love the location and the apartment layout, but the walls and floors are paper thin. You can even hear talking through the common walls so be careful what you say.

Loves it! ***EDIT: NEVERMIND!!!!
This WAS a positive review, but after a ridiculous turnover of staff/management companies and outrages increases in rent, STAY AWAY. The maintenance staff is very friendly, but they're "fixes" make things worse more often than not. I still don't think parking is that bad though - but I do live in the waaaaay back.

The staff is attentive and caring. Whenever I've requested a repair it has been attended to. The premises are clean and well kept. For an apartment complex, I would say it is well-managed.

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!
Okay, So I love living here! The staff is extremely nice and helpful. There was one guy who was rude but he is gone. I have had problems with my neighbors but they are always willing to help out and try to take care of the problem. I will say that parking is bad sometimes. However, I don't think that should take away from the apartments. If people would use their garages to house their cars and instead of, as storage, then that would help but you can't really police that or make them use it as a garage. It is frustrating but you need a good walk every now and then. Again, I think the staff is wonderful. Steve, Cyndi, and Jason are amazing. Maintenance is wonderful. Apartments are extremely nice!! Would and will definitely continue to live here. I feel safe here!!

Management company's phone number ------------ They can help you if the leasing team isnt
I havent even moved into this place and been having problems. If you have a problem with this community here is the management company! they are wonderful and wish this was passed on to preston reserve leasing consultants who work there. they didn't even know the name or the phone number of their management company. If you do move in here though I would deal directly with the management company if the leasing team doesnt help you. Good luck! Altman Companies 1515 S. Don't rent here
This place my look good from the out side, but don t let the good looks fool you. Bad parking, or should I say no parking. Management will not address the issue. If you live on the first or second floor you will hate it. The floors are very thin you hear every thing, and God help you if you live under children! if you live on the first floor the grounds people blow all the crap out of the grass on to you patio, what joy. If people above you smoke, you had better be wearing fire retardant clothing. Ashes, ashes they all fall down. Lighting in the parking lot is horrid. If I were a women I wouldn't be caught after dark out side. Lighting is sporadic and you can t see that well. Considering the area you would expect allot more the bang for the buck is not there. There have been reports of break-ins, even though the cops do patrol through the complex. One other thing about the parking. Some people can't park, so you will probably have to rent a garage which will cost you another 90 a month additional to your rent. At this price point go find a house. I'm counting the days I move out, I can t wait!!! Oh by the way one other interesting note management has changed twice since I have lived there.

Terrible Parking!
The apartment is nice and spacious but as much as we are paying for our apartment I'd expect better planning for parking! 75% of the time I have to park far from my home. There are many inconsiderate people who refuse to park their cars in their garages and management has still not done anything about it. We have lived here for a year and a half and management has been "working" on the parking problem. If they've got such a big problem with parking then maybe they shouldn't rent out all the apartments or keep the unused garages open so that we have more spaces because its getting ridiculous and we will DEFINITELY not renew our lease. I would not recommend this place to anyone until they have CLEARED the parking problem. If they say they're "working on it"...don't buy it. That basically means...we didn't plan well for parking, tough luck...deal with it.

no parking, no one cares
Overall I enjoy my apartment in Preston's Reserve. It is very spacious, a little pricey, but nice on the exterior building and interior apartment. There are a few things however that would make me not recommend this place to anyone and why I will not renew my lease when it comes time. I will spare the minute details and cut to the main reason I feel this way. The office staff and maintence have always been very friendly, this is nothing against them, just bad planning and lack of organization (and maybe communication) on the management company and propery manager.
There is NO parking at night. The company tells you (for 6 months) that they are trying to correct this problem that "they are aware of"... (middle of the winter=more empty apartments... still no parking? It gets even worse in the summer!) Instead of setting their minds to fixing the parking problem they decide to block off large sections of the parking lot to "reseal" the pavement.... this is ridiculous and makes no sense. To top it off there is a serious lack of lighting throughout walkways in the community. When you do get home at oh, 9pm and have to park on the other side of the property you need to walk in the dark to get home! I don't feel safe doing this at all and the management company and/or staff don't seem to see this as a concern. I'm just waiting until I get attacked one night.... maybe then they will see it as a concern.
People who are supposed to park in/behind their garages don't. When you express concern to the staff they seem shocked at this idea and say they will be on it right away. Yes, they are prompt about sending out letters with empty threats to "those residents who need to be parking in the garages and not using them for storage" It doesn't matter though, they do nothing about it.
If this can't be taken seriously, I will choose to move elsewhere and I advise you to do the same.
I would also like to leave a challenge to the manager of the property (who I am sure sees these reviews) to defend or explain (on this site, or in altter to all his/her resident) why this parking situation is not being taken seriously, or at least being given the attention it deserves... by reading these reviews, it obvious your residents are very unhappy.... basic rule of business: Good customer service=happy customers=long time customers and excellent word-of-mouth referrals.

Great place to live
Addendum to the review below: Parking has gotten better since the parking stickers went into effect. I have seen vehicles towed that don't need to be there and they have been better about the garage situation. Parking for me is great now, I have my green sticker that's on my windshield and I've never since had a problem getting a space. I have been at Preston's Reserve since Dec 2005 and love it. The staff is wonderful, the apartments are great quality with layouts that aren't your typical boxy apartment layout. The grounds are well kept. The only complaint I have is parking, or lack of it. They do not enforce the lease rule of people that have a garage parking their vehicles in their garage and the driveway. People that have more than one vehicle take up several places and use their garage for storage which takes places for those of us who don't have garages...this should be enforced. I would recommend assigned parking, it's free and all you have to do is paint a number in a space and give someone the sticker to match! This would take care of sooo many issues and complaints...would make me happy!....

Both Pro's and Con's...overall, you can do better.
It's not all bad and not all good.

It looks REAL impressive from the outside. Some of the perks are nice, too. (i.e. Pool, Fitness Room).

IF CLAIM THEY DON'T HAVE A SPECIFIC APARTMENT TO SHOW YOU THEN DON'T ACCEPT IT. The model apartment I viewed was GORGEOUS. Not a single flaw, naturally...

CONS:

The day I moved into my apartment - it was very dirty. It was clean on the surface (countertops etc...), but things like the bathroom medicine cabinets and moldings above the doors had an inch of dust, dirt and hair on them. GROSS! The many windows are wonderful - but they, too, were all extremely dirty. (I went as far as to hire a cleaning company to come in and do a once-over.) The paint is peeling off most all of the kitchen cabinets. The plumbing fixtures are cheap. The laminate floors aren't in the best of shape, either. If you are one who needs a lot of kitchen space - then this isn't the place for you. The kitchen drawers are so narrow that I can't find even the smallest silverware tray to fit in one.

PROS:

The carpets had been cleaned (and smelled great) and there was a "welcome" gift on the counter.

The HUGE washer and dryer are a great thing to have right in the apartment.

99% of the office personnel are very nice. There's always that "one", I guess...

I've already had a couple of incidences in which I had to call maintenance. They came to fix the issue's the very next day.

Depending on the layout you pick, it can be very spacious.

They try to hold events for the whole complex (pool parties, body therapy). Just an FYI ... these events are usually inundated with kids. If you have kids or love kids, which I do...then great. If you're looking for an adult atmosphere...not so great.

Oh, and I've never experienced a problem with parking.

Overall, it has pluses and minuses like any complex would - but not worth the money I'm paying for it.

I hope this feedback helps with your decision making...

great place to live
My family lived here for four months, from April to July. We arrived not knowing anyone and we found the staff to be very friendly, professional and always willing to help with any issues we had, whether apartment-related or not. The maintenance people were friendly, courteous and professional. The grounds, pool and gym are well-kept and we felt safe walking around the complex. There was a nice mix of adults of all ages and families of all ages. There were just a few times when we couldn't find a parking spot right in front of our building but it was not a major problem since there are other places to park. This was our only experience as a family in an apartment and I would strongly recommend Preston's Reserve as the place to stay.

Nice place to live
The grounds are very well kept and the apartments are nice to live in. The office staff is courteous and the maintenance staff are quick to respond to any requests. Parking is pretty bad depending on what time of the day it is. If you get back late at night, there will most likely not be parking near your complex. But all in all, a nice place to live.

A safe, friendly, comfortable complex
From the very first day of signing my lease, I had a great experience with Preston's Reserve. I even called one of the leasing consultants when I was at the furniture store before I moved in to have her measure one of the walls, which she happily did for me! The grounds are very clean and well-kept. The fitness center is functional and has nice, fairly new equipment. The only negative was that parking was sometimes an issue. That's just apartment liveing, though. You can't win 'em all!

I have lived at Preston for about a year and I have really enjoyed it. I love the office staff. They have always been very friendly and very willing to help. I think the ficilities and grounds are nice, and I love my apartment! I deffinatly think you get what you pay for here. My only complant would be the parking. I would reccomend getting a garage if you can afford it.

It's ok...
While these apartments appear to be spacious, there are several problems with the entire facility. Parking is a real issue. I'm used to walking a lot. But when you have groceries and such, it becomes tedious.

Make sure you fill out the move-in form! Document every single scratch, nick and carpet problem. okay, not great
Place is in need of maintenance and upkeep. Paint is peeling from the exterior and there is some wood rot on some units. Parking isn't adequate. Don't go month to month or you will get ripped off - big time. Rent increases are outrageous too. Where is the money going? On the plus side, staff is very professional and pleasant. Pool area and workout facilities are well kept.
