Very noisy, as everyone has been complaining about. Walls are really thin and you can hear neighbors having sex and almost hear conversations word for word sometimes. Rude neighbors are noisy in the halls and stairwell. Have been woken up multiple times from loud neighbors in the hall while asleep in my bedroom, and there really isn't much you can do about it. Luz in the office was really nice and helpful but she was the only one and she no longer works there. The rest of the staff I've found to be unhelpful and unsympathetic. The apartment layout is really nice and I'd give that a high rating. It's what I was attracted to in the first place. Parking is really annoying if you want to have visitors. They have to walk a long way. Neighbors leave their trash bags out in hall often. Maybe they feel they can get away with it since its on the third floor. Also, neighbors like to hang out on stairs often. If it weren't for all this noise, it would be a much nicer place to live.

These walls are paper-thin. You can hear every step from your above neighbors to the point where your dining room table shakes when they walk. When they walk down the stairs, you can hear every bit so hopefully your room isn't near the outdoor steps. Front office people are very nice and will help you. Parking is okay. Sometimes it's hard to find a spot close to your building, especially during bad weather. I've never felt scared or uneasy living here - it's a nice environment. If you can take all the loud thumps every day, then go for it. I won't be living here next year because I honestly can't get ANY sleep what so ever because of the people above me. At every attempt to contact them, they won't even answer their door!

I love the place my only downside is that parking can be sometimes full. The apartment size is great, clean grounds, and the staff is great. Our family loves living here. I did get my rental towed when I parked without a tag so at least they are trying to fix it... Thanks!

        Halton Park UNCC area

When my roommate and I were first shown the showroom apartment, we were impressed with the layout and ammenities which were presented to us. The worker informed us of the rule regarding resident parking and visitors' parking. Each resident is allowed only one parking pass and visitors park in designated Vistor spots. After 5pm vistors will face being towed if not in designated spots. The apartment we were shown was conveniently located infront of a parking lot consisting of a majority of the visitor spots so we thought "how nice, there are lots of vistor spots around". The showroom apartment was located there for a reason because once we signed our lease and were assigned our actual apartment, we discovered there were ZERO visitor parking spots in the back half of the complex..this was VERY frustrating when having guests over at night. Additionally, they are VERY unfair and choose when and how they want to apply the complex rules, especially concerning parking. Some residents were allowed to park boats, scooters, etc in the vistor spots 24/7 and when numerous people complained to the office, we were told those residents had been "grandfathered in" and were allowed to leave their boats, etc in vistor parking spots. Rediculous. One night, a visitor of mine parked his jeep at the front of the complex in a visitor spot and found the next morning that it had been broken into. Office staff could have cared less. It is getting more and more dangerous since we have lived here this year. Regarding the ammenities, we have also been constitently frustrated. When touring the complex, we were told by the office staff that the Business Center was open 24/7 and consisted of 3 computers and a printer for residents to print documents. She told us that they provide paper/ink and only ask that if you are printing a document that is an excessive number of pages, you bring your own paper. This business center won us both over being that we are students and did not own printers. Throughout the year of living here, the printer was cheap and ALWAYS broken. They FINALLY bought a new one after numerous complaints by residents and then STOPPED providing paper. They then made a rule that they would only replace the ink once a week. Numerous times I found the ink to be out and kindly asked the office staff when it would be replaced next. After returning to the business center on the day I was informed it would have ink again, I found the printer to not have an ink cartridge in it. This happened multiple times and was VERY inconvenient being that I am a college student. At first, I loved living at Halton Park but as the year went out, I realized they made rules as they see fit.

          It's pretty nice here.

I've been here for over 3 months. So far it's pretty nice. I love the apartment interior and floor plan. The pricing isn't bad at all for a 1 bedroom, especially for the amount of space there is. I love the kitchen, I always have friends compliment it. There's a ton of cabinet space, we don't even use all of it. I had an issue with my tub draining slowly, maintenance came out about an hour later and fixed it. They were extremely friendly and fast. They even helped with hooking up my personal washer, which they didn't have to do. Anytime I have had to talk with the office, they have been friendly and extremely helpful, especially the lady that leased me, Kate. I like and get along with most people in my building, and everyone seems to be pretty quiet. The only time I am disrupted is days they school is out and there's a couple kids that sometimes run around and scream in the parking lot in the mornings. The only complaint I have is parking. It really sucks at night. It's embarrassing if I invite my family or friends over and I have to pick them up and drive them to visitor parking. Because the nearest one is literally 3 buildings away. I myself have only had issues getting a parking lot one time on a Saturday night. And had to park 3 buildings down. It was awful, raining, muddy (because the sidewalks don't follow all the way through the complex) and also in the parking lot on the side of my building the spaces are TINY. My car can barely fit. I think if they would improve the parking, get a hot tub, and parents would teach there kids to only scream in emergency, then this would be the perfect complex. It would be 5-stars all the way.

            Not so bad

Apartment is pretty nice but a little expensive. It does get loud from our upstairs neighbors. Parking can be a problem but a little walking never hurt anyone. Luz in the office is very nice.

              Not worth the hassle...

Much too Noisey (people living above you)Apartment building built really cheap because the noise is ridiculous, parking SUCKS! sometimes have to walk from 3 buildings away to get to your unit (AT NIGHT!!!), water regulated from TEXAS?!?!? so if the bill is high (in which it is) there is nothing you can do. Management non-responsive and nonchalant. Too much headache for the expense. Not a good place to live if you're an adult looking for a nice place to live. The rent is too high for what little you get in return.

The staff is very disrespectful. At times I felt like they were a little prejudice also. Not worth dealing with the management. Find another place to live where you will have kind, courtious people to manage your property.

                  Worst parking in the area

Personally I live at Thornberry but I have plenty of friends who live a U-Village, U-Club, Mallard Glen, etc.. Halton Park has to have the WORST PARKING of the century! I tried to go to my friends apartment for his birthday party & I had to park at lease half a mile away just so my car wasn't towed! My friend parked in the wrong spot one night & got a ticket. $150 & no receipt! Kind of sketch if you ask me. I get there are rules but it seems like it would be so much of a hassle to have any friends or family come over if I lived there. I've dealt with the parking two or three times in the past 2 years & I'll never live there or recommend it.

I have lived at Halton park for a little over a year. The apartments are very nice an big inside. Love the garden tubs an the black kitchen appliances . Office staff is ok some are nice others not so nice. The maintenance staff are very friendly an come the same day you put in a work order. There are a lot of college kids here most are quite. The only problem I have had here is noise from neighbor playing music too loud! Over all it is a good place to live.

it has it's ups and downs

Overall the apartment is pretty nice and it seems that they always replace the carpet after every tenant leaves so it's clean for the new resident. The rooms are kind of strange. I live in a three bedroom apartment and every bedroom is a different size! The master has a walk-in closet and nice amount of space but tiny window. My room is a decent size but no walk in so it's hard to fit all my clothes in there. My bathroom is HUGE and very spacious. On the other hand my poor roommate hardly has any space in her room because of the small size. She has a queen size bed in her room and can barely squeeze in a desk with it. She didn't get a linen shelf area either and her closet is about a foot shorter than mine. As far as parking goes it SUCKS! If you're a UNCC student it's basically like trying to park on campus whether you're a resident or a guest. The complex tows like crazy too. If you have a guest over and there isn't a guest parking space have them park next door at cici's and go get them or they'll be paying about $150 bucks to go pick it up out of the impound lot. Even if you're a resident and have a parking pass you'll be walking to your apt some nights from a far distance. You can hear everyone above, below, and out side your apt! The people above us sound like they're dropping heavy furniture all night long from night fall to the crack of dawn. The people below us have a dog that yaps and you hear it all night long. Also if anyone is walking outside your apartment you will hear them talking and walking. If you're a smoker then this place may be good for you. My roommate and I have bad allergies and smoke really hurts us. The people below us smoke like chimneys with a burning lust for cancer! There are always like 5 people on their balcony smoking away so we can't ever use our balcony or open the windows for fresh air. All you'll ever get is a choke on smoke. When I asked management to do something bc i thought we lived in a non-smoking community she said we weren't and ppl can smoke on their unit even if they're on the first floor less than a foot away from the stairs or the breezeway. She suggested I should talk to them myself but I complained again later and she said she'd call. Nothing changed. Another thing to note is there is not a dining area in this apartment. Residents do litter here. NEVER walk in the grass or you will step in dog poop. Be careful where you walk on the sidewalk too. They never pick up after their dogs and trash is left on the stairs on on someone's window sill. The plus about the apartment is that there are actually three bedrooms and three baths so it's equal for all roommates (minus the size of rooms). The kitchen is huge with pretty good appliances. We have more cabinets than we know what to do with and there are actually some that we have nothing in! The pantry is huge and utilities are included if you're a student and that's a big plus. Washer/dryer is included too. Also there's a big DVD selection so you don't have to redbox if you don't want to. Management is really nice but they usually don't answer the phone. One day we had a HUGE spider about the size of our door knob right next to the door knob and we were afraid we'd be bitten getting back into the apartment. So, I stopped by the front office and asked if they could help. The manager herself brought a broom and smacked it off and got rid of it. We were really grateful! Overall I'd say there are pros and cons to weigh here but it always depends who is moving in and what they expect. Good luck to everyone apartment shopping!

                        BEWARE!

DO NOT STAY HERE! The apartments are pretty inside, but that's about it. If you want to live around noisy and trashy neighbors, then this is the place to be! The walls are too thin! Noise from residents in the breezeway travels into your apartment. You can hear every little step from neighbors who live above you. It sounds like they are stomping. If not that, then you have to deal with hearing your neighbors having sex next door or the 5 minute sex session of the idiots above you! (Thank you residents in 17725-3A! You were the best! Early in the morning and around 6:00pm, like clockwork, here came the fat---- wife and her children or the 3 ft. tall husband who stomped like he was 8 ft. tall. You and your stupid gremlin children were completely inconsiderate of other residents. But what can I expect from a low class 4-member family that has to resort to living in an apartment because they can't buy a house? I confronted them more than once! The husband even had to audacity to act like he didn't know what the problem was! He wasn't even man enough to admit that he was the one making noise.) Neighbors are low class and do not pick up the poop from their stupid dogs! They will actually go out of their WAY to litter (ex. stacking cups on top of each other). The parking spaces are too close together, so be ready for your vehicle to be damaged. Do not be fooled by the supposed "courtesy patrol" available for residents. I called numerous times about noise in the middle of the night and usually had to call the Charlotte police to get anything done. DO NOT STAY HERE! These are NOT luxury apartments.

                          I'm happy......so far.

Wow, I'm amazed at the comments I'm reading about Halton Park and its staff. I was coming here to write a review based on the many positive experiences I've had and I was shocked at all the negativity that people are reporting. So far the staff has been very helpful and responsive to my request. I've had no problems getting the service that I've needed and everyone seems willing to go above and beyond.....of course I've always been realistic as to what they could and couldn't do. Parking DOES suck here!!! I really hate it when I come in after a long nights work only to find that many of the parking spaces are being used by people who don't even live here! I'm all for parking permits and enforcement and don't feel that the limit of (1) Guest pass per apartment is unreasonable considering the size of the property and demographics of my fellow tenants. The thought that someone should feel their friends should be entitled to parking passes when not on lease is absolutely absurd! I've been here since 2008 and have truly seen this property evolve from what used to be an overgrown frat house environment to a decent diverse community. As mentioned, the parking sucks but the staff's current plan on enforcement of parking rules and other rules have had a positive effect. The days of vomit and trash filled breezeways are gone and again I attribute that to the staff working hard to enforce property rules. Living at Halton Park has truly been an up and down experience, but I'm happy to say that have continued to get better. Now, if they could just get that hot blonde (Tasha) to come back and work for them I'd be completely satisfied!

The property manager here is completely rude and unwilling to listen to our concerns and problems with our apartment. She acts very friendly to your face but can tell she's being completely fake. Our upstairs neighbor have children who run, jump, and scream ALL day long. She refuses to acknowledge this and basically turns it in to our problem. It sounds like a very obese person is exercising ALL day and screaming about too. It's completely ridiculous we pay $1000 a month to live with so much noise. I can't hear my neighbors beside me EVER. I've been in other apartments in the complex where you can't hear upstairs neighbors either....but my neighbors are exceptionally loud but she likes to say it's "within normal limits." I've even had police reports say it's not within normal daily living. I love my apartment, completely do not like my neighbors or the property manager.

I am disappointed with the appearance of my building (17715). Four days ago I told my property manager my stairs were filthy due to someone trash bags spill, I tried to pour a bucket of water to wash it down, but that did not work. I have friends that visit me and it s embarrassing for them to walk up the stairs and see that it s a mess my family and I have to tip toe around the mess. I decided to take pictures for proof. The previous manager made sure that the breeze way and stairs were always maintained and pressure washed. We got disturbing neighbors consistently, place smell like dog poop, tenants not cleaning up behind their dogs (what happened to poop stand we had?), kids running in and out of business center. I been here since Nov 2006 and it never got this bad. Grills at pool always broke (ignition don t work) and always messy. My wife and I are thinking about not renewing our lease, the only hesitation is that we don t want to pay for another deposit and application fee (push comes to shove we will may over look that issue and leave). I will admit, I really like where I am, I knew what brought us here to Halton Park, but I don t see that anymore. It s really sad and disappointing!

When me and my room mate first started looking for an apartment, we were looking for a nice place that did not have parking permits. One of the best places we found was Halton Park. During the application process we specifically asked about needing parking permits. They said we did need them. Made no mention of any parking problems. Then out of no where parking permits. Only one guest pass. Then the morons of the management decides that they need new parking permits. No guest passes, and they said my girlfriend who was living with me (but not on the lease) could not get a parking pass. Contradicting what was previously said to me. I have come to the conclusion that while the apartments are nice, the management do not have a lick of sense. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

This is hands down the worst place I have ever lived. When I visited the 2 bedroom I was going to move into it smelled like straight cigarettes. They said they would fix it but it never happened. There is absolutely no where to park (especially if you live in the back). Told us we can park in handicap spots but cops are handing out $150 tickets if you do. Cars are being towed at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, regardless if you live there or not. Must I go on... Tasha the management lady is terrible, so is Brandy - "property manager". Hate to say fire them but something needs to give. They even credited money to my account for a mistake they made, then went back and took the credit off (without notice) and said we had to pay.

Halton Park is, by far, the most poorly operated apartment complex in the University City area. They pick and choose which policies to enforce. Your dog can poop wherever you want (grass, walkways, doorsteps) but if you don't have your parking pass hanging in your mirror, there is a 100% chance its getting towed. If you ever have an issue with anything, I'll save you a trip to the clubhouse as the answer will ALWAYS be "too bad, there's nothing we can do about it." In my two years at HP, I have never found the staff to be anywhere near helpful. Going beyond the horrid management, other reasons for not even considering Halton Park are: terrible floorplans (why is my washer/dryer in a closet in the master suite?), terrible location on 49, loud bi-weekly landscaping, and inadequate parking. Living here will only result in aggrevation and an empty wallet.

Can't wait to get out!! AVOID!!!

I moved in in July 2008 and was really excited about the apartment complex.... until all the college students came back into town and moved in.... then you couldn't leave your apartment after 7 or 8pm or you would have to park on the curb .5 miles from your apartment and walk in the dark.... where there are armed robberies going on. Great.... then the apartment complex FINALLY decides to do something about the parking situation with guest parking starting in January (you get ONE guest parking pass, in which your guest has to park at the front of the complex or in three different spots throughout the entire LONG complex..... so they will be walking, since you can't drive to pick them up for risk of losing your spot).... then they decided to strip the parking lots, one by one, in February. They could have waited til Spring Break, in which a majority of residents would be out of town for... or they could have done it over Winter Break for the same reasoning... but no, the geniuses at the office thought the beginning of February would be the best time. At this time, they also added CHEAP, TRIANGLE speedbumps that they hammered into the ground. They mess up tires and they put in SIX speedbumps in a .25 mile stretch. I CANNOT WAIT TIL MY LEASE IS UP IN JUNE- I WILL BE OUT OF HERE FAST!!

                                              Unsafe, unfriendly, and noisy!

For starters, we have not have sufficient parking in our complex for months. If you live closer to the back of the apartment complex (which is where I currently reside), it is next to impossible to get a parking spot anywhere near your building after 8 o'clock. The only spots that are available are next to the barely lit dog park. I have to walk across a dark parking lot, next to a building where there was a shooting this past fall. Recently, I placed my trash outside my door for at most five minutes so I would not forget to take it out to the dumpster when I left for work. In that time, a maintenance man came to pick up my trash and proceeded to place a slip in my door stating that I would be charged $25 for a lease violation. Though I do appreciate the fact they want us to have a clean community, what really set me off was the fact that I found my trash lying on the grass in front of my building for 25 minutes after it was removed and I was fined. Had the garbage been left for me to remove, it would have been done in a timely manner. Does this not defeat the purpose of the fine?? In the beginning, I was okay with living here, however my feelings have drastically changed. Its location next to 485 and the train is entirely too loud and obnoxious. So take the time to find another apartment...PLEASE!

Not a safe place to live

Parking is horrible at this complex. When I was inquiring about moving here I believe that is an issue management should have explained and also said what they were going to do to fix the situation. Tennants need to realize that this is an apartment complex and not their personal homes, and be considerate of others with the noise levels. Oh yeah and the vomitt in the parking lot on occassion is a nice touch when going to work in the mornings!!!!

Parking is inadequate and the office is useless

I have near rented a place that you nor a guest can park. It honestly looks like a little less garages and curbs and a little more parking would be necessary. Makes more sense if 1 bedroom had one space, 2 bedroom had two spaces and 3 bedroom had three parking spaces. What bothers me the most is the office was apparently just interested in renting a unit, because they never bothered to tell me there was a parking problem. If there was a fire tomorrow, a fire trunk could not get through here at night.
