So glad to be gone...
These apartments are the worst if you are over the age of 20 or have a real job that you have to have sleep for. WE lived at Halton Park from Jan 08 to Sept 08 and are so glad to be gone. For the first time in 8 months, we are actually getting a full nights sleep. The apartment itself is extremely nice, and the staff are great if you don't have any problems. We moved here from out of state and didn't realize that when we would be close to UNCC that meant we would basically be living in a frat house. The people who lived below us played their music so loud that it vibrated our funiture, our next door neighboors had keggers in the breezeway to the point that we had to call the police, who did nothing about it at 3 am. THe same apartment tenants later used the fire extinguishers in our halls to have a "fight" with, and when we complained about all of the noise, we were told that they would be sent a letter. i'm sure they took that seriously because we all know that a letter is very intimidating... Then a few months ago, people moved in on top of us and aparently no one has ever been taught apartment etiquette because between all of these people I actually had to wear ear plugs to be able to sleep at night. Halton Park allows their tenants to do whatever, whenever, with no consequences. If you are a college student who loves to party, this is the place for you. However, if you are a civilized person who wants a nice place to live and call home, keep looking.

Parking nightmare!!
I live towards the back of the complex & there is NEVER anywhere to park after 6pm. We pay a lot of $$ to live here & don't even have anywhere to park! The apartment, I like it but it is a bit expensive. There is one girl in the office that can be ------ at times, not Shy the other white girl. Oh & watch out for the dog poop!

Keep Looking
This apartment has TONS of college students. I dread every thurs - sunday because it gets very loud. The parking here at least in the back is crowded and I am forced to park on the side of the road. The I can hear through the walls very well and have filed complaints but to no avail. Our apartment was brand new and has lots of little things that were overlooked as well as holes in the door that were patched and other misc. things. We will be moving out as soon as our lease is up. Like I said this apartment, at least in the back is all college students and they are not considerate at all even when asked to be quiet.

I like it
We moved into Halton Park in the Fall of 2007 and now we are about to resign our lease. There is a lot of college students living in this apartment community, but for the most part everyone is respectful. The location is more towards the Harrisburg side of 49. The pool are is awesome, the gym is great, and the office staff are friendly and respectful. The dog park is a plus and is well maintained. The maintenance staff is attentive and they do a lot of preventive maintenance. You can hear a lot of what is going on in other apartments, but I have never heard my neighbors music. I have received notices of people's cars getting broken into, but I have never had either of my cars touched. I feel safe walking my dogs late at night, which some of my friends are not able to do at surrounding apartment complexes. The only major complaint I have is that I find a lot of people park on the side of the road at night, especially towards the back of the property. This is not because there is not spaces available, there are plenty of overflow parking, but people want to park right next to their apartment. Like I mentioned before, we are planning on resigning our lease within the next month or so.

I like it
I've lived here since the summer so I'm just gonna go down this list and address everything. Parking - Good, way better then where I used to live. 8 times out of 10, I get a spot right by the stairs of my apartment. If not then I still get one out in front of my building. If it's late at night and everyone's at home, I may have to park along the side of the building. No big deal though. Noise - This place is built cheap. People say 'the walls are thin' and it's 'built out of cardboard' all the time. I never really believed that saying, I thought they were exaggerating, until I lived here. These walls are ridiculously thin. My neighbor has a cheap set of computer speakers in his room, only 150watts, and when he turns them up, you hear everything clear as day on the other side of the wall OUTSIDE in the breezeway. That is unacceptable. If you have picky neighbors that expect total silence all the time, prepare to catch some complaining. Just watching a movie comfortably with my sub halfway up the neighbors upstairs tell me their floor is shaking. This place isn't built for people that like music and movies, odds are high you'll catch a complaint. Grounds - The grounds look pretty good. The gym is awesome, so is the coffee machine (although I wish it was stocked up more). Oh yeah, there's dog crap everywhere. Everywhere. Safety - The door frames should be stronger, maybe braced with metal. A neighbor in another building had there front door, locked with a deadbolt, simply kicked open. Crime here isn't bad, compared to other places. Yes there are occasional break ins, that's why you keep your windows locked and alarm armed. Yeah a guy got shot defending his property, there hasn't been another incident since then. You can't escape crime, this is Charlotte, but crime isn't too big of a concern for me here at Halton Park. Construction - Built cheap. All the door frames in my apartment are crooked. The weather stripping is crappy and light comes in thru the cracks, oh boy does it help to keep that a/c or heater running all the time. You hear everything, everywhere, so if you're a sound ----, you might not like it here. All our plumbing under the sinks wasn't finished so for the first week we had leaks until I realized the guys that did the piping forgot to tighten all of the fittings. Drywall nails are popping the plaster off the wall as the building settles. Maintenance - The maintenance guys are good and seem like they do a good job at keeping this place together and the grounds clean. Staff - The ladies in the office are nice. Most of them do a great job at answering questions and helping out. A couple of them can be pretty stern and come off the wrong way but it isn't there fault, they have to follow the rules. Overall - Not bad, They've been good to me. Halton Park is worth checking out if you're looking for an apartment!

NOT A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE
I have lived here since the summer, and while I would have agreed with the two good ratings back then, this place is turning into the ------ faster than anything I've seen. In the past week I have had a one neighbor tell me that his apartment was broken into through a window and last night I JUST SAW ANOTHER NEIGHBOR GET SHOT! I was literally woken up by the sounds of yelling and gunfire and watched from my window the guy holding his hand and screaming as another guy with a gun just walked away. Then I heard them interviewing another one of my neighbors and asking them if they had any more guns. Really puts a damper on your sleeping when you feel you have to stay up to see if the police arrest anyone and can find bullet casings. I have lived in Charlotte my entire life and never felt as unsafte anywhere as I do here. I cannot wait for my lease to move up, hopefully I will get out of here with all of my property and no bullet wounds. In addition to the safety issue, there is no parking. The college kids leave beer bottles and dog poop everywhere, and I think these apartments are built out of cardboard. I can hear EVERYTHING ANYONE ever does (like shooting each other, for example). People hang out in the breezeway all hours of the night and their conversations wake me up even though my apartment is in the back of my unit.

I love this place!
I lived in Halton Park from July 2007 until May 2008. Had I not moved out of the area to buy my house, I would've loved to stay at Halton Park for much longer. Every single member of their staff was wonderful, courteous, and extremely patient with every question and situation that ever came up. People complain about the students there, but it IS in the University City area of Charlotte and the handful of students that are there are NOT bad when you look at what's around. This is coming from someone whose neighbors *were* a rare source of trouble -- however, the staff promptly turned their attention to the matter and took care of it. Didn't have a problem afterward, either. It's a great community, seriously. I would recommend it to anyone in Charlotte who wanted a good, safe home. You really get a lot of "luxurious" options -- I'd give anything to have the same kitchen and bathroom in my home that I had in Halton Park!!! Check it out. Try the cookies. Meet the staff. It's all great.

Great Place to Live!
I have been living at Halton Park for four months and I am completly pleased with the service and the staff. My requests are handled in a timely fashion. The community is very clean and even though they are still under construction it does not cause problems with the complex. The parking is ample. The square footage is great for living and entertaining. The residents are easy to get along with and everuone minds their own business. Occasionally I can hear my upstairs neighbor but that is only because she often has friends over.
