Although there are many apartments to choose from in the Albany area, I felt immediately at home after my dealings with the warm, friendly and professional staff members. The quiet wooded grounds makes the coming home very pleasant indeed.

Great community; office staff have been very responsive to our needs and requests. Maintenance staffer has completed tasks as requested. The club house and gym facilities are great. Slowly getting to know my neighbors and parking is substantial.

The community areas such as the pool and garden are nice and the buildings are relatively quiet. However, the buildings are old and maintenance requests are often necessary to take care of the issues.

When I first moved here I loved everything about the complex, as the years go on I become more disappointed and displeased. High staff turn over, inconsistencies, theft within the building have all led me to search elsewhere once my lease is up.

Outstanding experience. Great community. Close to everything. great community to raise a family in with outstanding schools surrounding the area. If you are looking for a great place to eat there are many choices to choose from in the area with Vent fitness near by to work off those calories.

1. There were many occurrences of snakes in children's play area during summer time, please do something. 2. The office hall should be allowed to book free of cost for party/ceremonies. A refundable security may be a good idea. People staying in Heritage do book at Regency because it is free of cost.

It is a very nice community. Convenient to everything. Wish it had more street lights though. The staff is wonderful. It is a very good school district and a safe neighborhood as well. I have rented here prior to moving into this apartment. Recommendable.

The Apartment looks good, only concern i have is they showed 1 apartment & handed the other apartment after signing lease. Even after requested they haven't changed my apartment. Apart from that everything looks good. They work very fast on any repair works.

I have seen a sad decline in Heritage Village. There are bikes strewn all over the lawns. There are young andun-supervised children in the streets & the pool is completely unusable due to screaming & noise. Very upsetting and disappointing

The apartment is really spacious and well maintained. The locality is really good and everything is available nearby. The heating is free in winters and that saves a lot on the electricity cost.I just wish there was an option to turn off the heat.

From day one there have been issues with this place. Me and my roommate gave it a shot because of a very nice and hard working front desk woman who has bent over backwards to help us. This and the fact that its hard to judge without experience things personally made us jump into what is now a huge mistake. 1. Lease and management- Reviewing the lease the manager seemed irritated we wanted to look it over instead of blindly signing. The manager going over the lease seemed to know nothing about it and almost all our questions she left to ask another manager. One can assume she was a new manager but even so its her job and the fact she could not do it is a terrible sign. Even if over looked, she stated she had been living and working there for seven years so in my eyes, no excuse. She had a generally snarky and attitude like tone and demeanor towards us and the situation both then and everyday after that I have dealt with her. Sum it up in one word; unprofessional. We were denied permission to take a copy of the lease, denied a copy of a general outline of the lease, and when we finally got it, we were denied permission to take it away without signing. If you were planning on having another apartment manager in your family who deals with code, laws, and regulations of running a place like this or better yet wanted it reviewed by a lawyer then you are SOL which I am not sure they even have the right to do. 2. Maintenance- What drew us in, no matter how bad it seemed was the fact they offered free water and heat and offered 24/7 maintenance. They rushed the room we are living in to prepare it for us in a week time so there were some issues but they promised to fix them and usually it takes 3 weeks to prepare the apartments so we let it go. But we had several problems two of which were somewhat important like the dishwasher that fell out of the counter if opened even a little and the vent in the bathroom seemed to be burnt out and could not be safely run. It took them a month to send someone to fix anything and go figure, it was the day before the next rent was due. Must have saw we had not paid yet and wanted to cover their arse if we chose to pursue not paying which frankly since it was a month and we pay a maintenance fee included in our rent, yeah, we probably would have. Whats even worse is before this a maintenance guy did show up and put a sign on the door saying "job done". Upon inspecting our request and the apartment we realized nothing was actually done which meant the guy showed up and did nothing but hang a false paper on the door, came by and fixed something that wasn't broken or didnt need to be fixed, or came by and hung out. 3. Free heat and water- Wonderful perk right? Stated in 2 we couldn't use our dishwater for the entire first month here and to the day of this review have yet to have a warm shower. Reported the tempering valve is broken but nothing has been done yet about it. The 12-16 people living in our apartment share two washer machines. A work colleague of my roommate who lives in another building here only has one washer machine to share for the entire building. These machines cost money to use and are work poorly if you are lucky enough to catch it empty. 4. Garbage Situation- There is a small room in the basement with no windows where trash is hoarded. Upon inspection there is a small vent in the room but I have never seen it on, not that I hung out in the disgusting room much or for long. Don't know if thats up to code but seems sketchy. Its disgusting none the less. Feel bad for the people who have to live across from it. 5. Parking and driving Situation- each apartment only gets one "reserved spot". That alone is frustrating but in a way necessary I suppose. But even your reserved spot is not guaranteed as guests cars are not on file and takes work apparently to have their vehicle towed, funny, thought it just took a phone call. Visitor parking is for everyone else even if you live there and they are located at the very end of the parking lots and are too few. No signs are posted but if you didn't know any better you would think the speed limit was 40-50mph in this place. This place where children frequently move about to and from school and to play. Its horrible, people floor it over the speed bumps. I have been frequently flashed and beeped at for slowing down over speed bumps and the same with my roommate. Expect this and to be tailgated, I have even been cut off once by someone going to the same apartment as me, I showed up maybe 8 seconds after him. Its crazy, ridiculous, and unsafe here. 6. They forgot to email us our website login info so we paid over the phone, yeah $30 "convenient fee" between the two of us we had to pay $60 more dollars on top of everything else. Overall since we got a top floor apartment, the apartments itself, at least ours are alright. Not even close to great and to some even good. But solid okay comes to mind when I think of it. But everyone outside of that has been horrible, lies, and unprofessional. Said they put thousands of dollars into gym equipment, which I believe, but the gym is still only 3 tread mils, 3 cycle machines, and a dumbell set that goes to 55lbs and thats it. Small inground pool and really I just am not seeing a 1200-1300 apartment complex here where the apartments literally across the street offer a legitamate gym, olympic size pool, bigger apartments for less than $100 more. The ones next door are similar. Understand I just left the Marine Corps, been in for over 5 years, deployed, I have lived in and through some shytty places and situations. But I am still telling you that if you have the choice, do not live here. Its not worth it and I can't even get comfortable living here and ive litterally lived out of a tent in a desert taking rounds some days. Its not worth it; stay away.

I love the apartment, the size of it and the location. Noise level is terrible. The people walking around above me sound like they are going to fall thru the ceiling at any moment. The insulation between apartments is awful and being by laundry.

I've live at Heritage Village for 11 months now. From my experience it has been a living nightmare. When I first moved in I had a rat, RAT problem. I had to ask them to plug the hole under the kitchen sink to get rid of the problem. By then it was early spring and all the bugs came out. Honestly, I still don't know how they got into the apartment, but I had tons of silverfish, centipede, spiders, and these slug looking things - I don't know what they are. It's especially worst after they spray outside, it seems the crawlers find they way in to avoid dead out there. To make everything worst, the noise above is unbearable. UNBEARABLE! I can hear the people to the sides of me,they are not as bad as the two spiteful ------- about me. And who wants to hear people having sex, walking, dropping things, showering, slamming doors, etc. The list is extensive. The office response to my complaint about the noise is even worst. Needless to say I am leaving and would not recommend this place, not even to my worst nemesis. I will admit that they take care of the grounds here. So much that you have no peace here in the day time if you have a day off and want to relax. Overall, this place is not worth it. Oh, from asking all my neighbors around me I've come to the conclusion that if you live on the 3rd flood, all is good for you(golden) becuase of the obvious fact that there is no one above you. If you live on the 1st floor especially, it's a nightmare with the noise and the bugs/rats (all of there one bedrooms are on the 1st fl). If you are on the 2nd floor, it liveable depending on your neighbor above you. The laundry room is horrible; it's the one washer that 12 apartments has to use and on the rinse cycle, the machine does not give enough water so your clothes comes out smelling moldy if you don't use liquid fabric soften, even if you do it still smell bad.

I have lived at Heritage Village for the last three years and have had an excellent experience. Noise has never been an issue and the other tenants have always been pleasant and polite. Maintenance is fantastic - I have always had any issues (which have been few) taken care of immediately. The office staff is also extremely responsive and has always been helpful. The complex has a wonderful pool and reading area. They just renovated the fitness center and community room. I have used this room for parties, etc. and intend to again. Do not let old reviews sway your opinion of this property!

I have lived at Heritage Viallage for the past 5 years. It is an OK place to live, but the buildings are definately starting to show their age. I lived on Patroon Dr, and generally it was very quiet. I never had an issue with maintenance requests, they always responded within 24 hours of any issue that I had. Rent did consistantly increase over the 5 years I lived there, and if I wasnt moving to Florida I definately would have considered looking elsewhere due to the constant increases in price ($200 over 5 years). Parking issues were very rare with the assigned parking, it was a definate plus knowing that you had a reserved spot to come home to after working all day.

If you are intelligent enough to look up apartment reviews before signing lease papers, then you are too good for this apartment complex. I lived here for three years trying to make the best of things since the location is good and the price was ok, but I assure you, it's not worth it. I have never before or since had issues with an apartment that I faced living at Heritage Village. The office staff is a nightmare to deal with - specifically Dawn Jacobs. While the other people in the Heritage Village office are merely incompetent, Dawn is down right rude. As for the living situation - the apartments are incredibly drafty due to their aging construction, and are unbelievably noisy. The drafty windows mean that your central air system turns on and off every few minutes all year long. Other than your money flying out the window, I feel the need to point out that you also lose quality of life with this issue. The central air system in each apartment is located in the tiny living room of each apartment and you constantly have to turn the TV/radio up and down because the air is SO LOUD. The poor construction and layout of the apartments also lets every little noise creep into your living space. Random people ring your buzzer at all hours just to get into the building. Kids run around screaming day and night, both inside the apartment building and outside on the small area of grass located directly outside each building (and your apartment windows). As if that weren't enough, the maintenance crew is CONSTANTLY working on the grounds(though you'd never know it just by looking since there is almost no landscaping). This means leaf blowers, mowers, backhoes (yes, full size construction equipment), weed wackers...you name it! They are there almost every day for HOURS on end, but with little to no results (other than making it next to impossible to have a moment's peace). The rent here is going up, while the quality of life is deteriorating. It makes no sense and I am 1,000 times happier now that I moved out of that hell hole. If the general decibel volume and incompetent office staff isn't enough to deter you, please also consider the mold, poor air quality, "out of order" laundry facilities, and general rudeness of the residents here as reason enough to go rent anywhere else.

I have been living here since 2010 and have no complaints. The management was very prompt in addressing all our service requests. They were always on time and did a good job in fixing our problems. The snow removal and other general maintenance is also good. Heat and hot water is included in the rent. It is in a convenient location with all the major shops nearby. I would strongly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet place with good service.

Preparing to move out as my lease is nearly up and I will NOT be renewing my lease. The quality of the place has gone down dramatically since moving in and the high rent is just not worth it. The laundry room washing machines have become NASTY. Washing your clothes leaves a nasty residue on your clothes to the point that I've had to resort to going to the laundry mat to do laundry. They don't flush the washing machines out like they should, with all the residents that live in the building. The driers suck as they don't dry your clothes well at all and you'll be spending double to dry your clothes. When I first moved here garbage use to be taken out everyday, now I can come outside my apartment and smell the garbage which is all the way downstairs up on the main floor hallway. Nasty. The smell is horrific and they no longer pick up garbage on the weekend. Then during the winter, they plow you in. The two years I've lived here, I've been plowed in each winter. It's ridiculous. The walls are paper thin, you can hear your neighbors sexing and showering. It wakes you up every time. The best thing about the place is the heat and hot water and the safety. The high rent isn't worth living here.

I've stayed here way too long. Pros are location, dishwasher, and a decent laundry room. However, first apartment was in the basement with 100% humidity, mold everywhere And you could hear every step the neighbors above you took and any music they played. Current apartment is on the top floor. Issues are carpenter ants inside, carpenter bees on the patio, and animals in the walls. At first I thought they were squirrels, but after many nights kept awake listening to the walls I've realized they are bats. Have brought this to the rental office many times and they do nothing. Also, the fridge doesn't work well, and constantly drips water from the freezer all over the fridge. We notified them of this the week we moved in, two years ago. Also when attempting to defrost the freezer I found black mold. Still nothing done. It's not worth it.

Moved here last year because it was very convenient to work. Upon moving in, I noticed a number of pill bugs on the floor. I called maintenance to set up an exterminator appointment, but despite them coming in to spray, I had the bug problem for the entire year I lived here. I probably got 10 little guys each day. The bugs I could deal with. But a few months in, I had mice. Maintenance would come in to set sticky traps, but I had no peace of mind throughout the month when I was catching mice. This problem only lasted about a month in the fall, but they promptly returned in the spring. On top of the critters in my apartment, the bathroom ceiling collapsed one day due to a leak from a toilet in the above apartment. My apartment was adjacent to the laundry room, and towards the end of my stay, one of the washers leaked, which flooded my living room and soaked my couch. I did not receive any compensation for this problem, and my rugs were never replaced. In fact, it took over 10 days for anyone to come to tear out the rug pads and to shampoo the carpets, even though I was persistent with calling the office. At that point, my rugs had begun to smell, and it caused a greater influx of bugs. In spite of all of this, when I was laid off from my job, the office staff were not sympathetic and would not allow me to break my lease one month early. In short, I never had a problem with noise, safety, etc. But there were too many maintenance problems to be able to recommend living here to anyone.

Having lived in this complex for a couple of years I think I can write an honest review. I agree, in Guilderland all apt complexes are overpriced but because the area so nice you end up paying. In our first year we lived in a ground apartment which was decent but it was like living in a cave because it was so dark then new neighbors moved in and they were serious chain smokers and they would smoke on their terrace. Management of course could not do anything about even if they were smoking on the terrace. So we moved to a different bldg to an apt on the 3rd floor facing the forest. Do not move to this complex if you want sunlight because again we were stuck with another apt that made you feel like you were in a cave. Little did we know we moved right next to another tenant who chain smokes all day and then our other neighbor across the way started the lovely habit of smoking as well! You would think management would help us out, maybe give us a break on the monthly rent..heck no! Not only that our other neighbor was constantly cooking with odd smelling spices that smelled like crap! We had to endure smelling the funky spices at 5am in the morning. I am no where near racist but come on, they wouldn't like it if I fried fish all day! Again, management could not do anything. Also, we had to deal with mice issues. Every winter we had to deal with mice coming up to our 3rd floor apt, I have no idea how. The maintenance guy just sealed some holes around the dishwasher but that did not stop the mice. We found and trapped 3 mice in less than 3 months! Luckily, we had our cat to catch them but of course they do not allow cats to live here but they allow chain smokers who are making us slowly die from 2nd hand smoking!! Too bad you cannot have a cat because you will need one to catch the mice. There are other residents in our bldg that have pets: one of our neighbor also has a cat and the other has a bird. The management here is stuck up and tries to enforce their policies so much but give them a year or two and there will be another management in the office. They really need to cut some trees down to let some light in these dark, depressing, old, apts. The walls are thin and the rent keeps going up to pay for re-painting the building doors an ugly brown instead up upgrading their appliances.

Pros: 1)Maintenance is great, very responsive and most of the issues get fixed in a day or two. 2)Great location. 3)Quiet and very safe. Cons: 1) There were BED BUGS in some of the buildings. We had to dump our beds and all the furniture before moving out as the bug problem never stopped. The management was relying on one pest control company which never provided an adequate service. They used chemical sprays to kill bugs but that never eradicated the problem. It seems like the bugs were living inside the walls. Our apartment was treated 4 times and every time we had to nearly empty the apartment prior to the treatments. It was a hassle to empty a house with kids and the management tried to blame us saying we brought the bugs in. However we saw the pest control van in front of our building way before we got the problem. 2)Poor water quality Bottom line: You can live here in peace ONLY IF you are lucky enough to not to get bed bugs. Would I recommend this place: NO

Artificially Expensive
I think Guilderland Apartments in general are way overpriced. I pay $965 for a one bedroom on the basement level. There is no assigned parking and there were several times in the winter that I was forced to park in front of other buildings. The pool is nice. The gym is very outdated. Snow removal is quick. So quick that I was plowed in several times before I left for work in the morning, but I live along the main drag, so I guess it makes sense. The laundry rooms are a poor excuse. I've lost a lot of money to malfunctioning dryers and people who work during the day have to fight for the room on the weekends. Heat and Hot Water is great, but I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers: You lose control over how you want to keep your apartment. My apartment has been super humid but cold, so I just have to deal with it. In general there are a lot of rules that just make life cumbersome. I have had the worst apartment experience ever with an apartment. The plumbing was all bad. For months, I lived with black gunk shooting out of my shower drain any time my neighbor took a shower. This included while I was still in there. The kitchen sink stopped up quite a few times and the staff refused to provide a garbage disposal. Note - I make a point to throw ANYTHING solid down the toilet or trash. Eventually the pipe collapsed under my neighbors apartments and I spent my birthday weekend without a kitchen. Then the entire water-main broke for the building. It was definitely comical. Just this weekend, water started pouring out of my air vent and ruined my Coach purse. During the winter, there were definite critters running up and down my bedroom wall. I always have large centipedes coming from everywhere and the spiders are a problem. That being said, the maintenance team has always been very responsive to any of the issues I am forced to bring up once every 2 weeks. The place is really old and I wonder if the rent is so expensive to keep those guys on hand full time. In short, I've found another apartment with a washer/dryer, in a more desirable town, built in the last 15 years with the same public amenities for $200 less. It's time to renew my lease and they are tacking on $10 more a month... I don't know why anyone would pay to live here.
