great place to live if you dont mind trashy peopl

millview is a beautiful complex. yes heat bills are high but i have friends in other complexes around here paying just as much. Only thing i do not like is that when you move in they dont warn you about the ------ across the street. i have already resigned the lease once and am now debating about doing it again. when i first moved in in oct 04 didnt see many of the thugs until recently. i have now been chased twice by a girl from the projects and her pitbull where as i own two tiny chihuahuas. pet rent is reasonable. also recently kids from the projects hav been jumping into the gym when people leave and totally trashing it. i have called the office but they claim there is nothing they can do. cameras would be nice. also for the price of rent i think they could afford a security guard especially with projects so close. since i have moved in a man has been murdered, two girls got in a knife fight, a building was burned down, and there have been two rapes in regency. not to mention the fact a neighbior of mine was walking his dog and found a piece of a sawed off shot gun. so if you dont mind the ------ being so close its a great place to live. just be careful of the close company

    My opinion has dropped...

-NOISY. You can hear EVERYTHING going on in the apartment above you. Our neighbor is not loud, but we can still hear the TV, the telephone ringing, people talking, people walking, etc. When they put their suround sound on, our whole apartment shakes!

-CHEAP, SLOPPY CONSTRUCTION. We find new flaws every day, and it is because of the extremely rapid pace at which these apartments were THROWN together.
-CARPET is cheap, and its lose fibers clog our vacuum every other time we clean it. Dust from the carpet fibers make my eyes itch and my allergies go crazy!
-FRONT DOOR does not shut completely unless you slam the dickens out of it or shut it gently and pull with all your might. Otherwise, later your door will fly wide open for the whole world to enter.
-THE WINDOWS are cheap and drafty. We had to put plastic up just to keep from getting cold when the thermostat was set to 70!

NO PARKING-If you come home late, expect to walk a ways to your apartment. The saving grace now is that A LARGE PORTION OF THE APARTMENTS ARE EMPTY. If all the apartments were full, there would be NO PARKING.

LATE SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL-During the last storm (2/14/2007) snow removal didnt happen until late in the day. It was one guy on a tractor, and he skipped the handicapped spots! Two days later, Millview was still an icy, slushy, slippery mess!

In ten years when these cheap apartments get some age on them and start falling apart, there will be no one living in them. Tear them down and rebuild them. Then they might be worth $1000 a month!

      I Love Home Sweet Home!

I love this place! I just moved in a couple weeks ago and I got a brand new apartment which no one has lived in. I have a beautiful view where the other day deer were running through the back yard area. It is so quiet, very clean, and so far a breath of fresh air coming from my last nightmare apartment.

These apartments are built with quality features like windows that pull into the apartment so you can clean the outside as well as in. Crown molding in the kitchen and living room, big bathrooms, large windows, etc.

I read all the reviews before coming here and even though there were some things that worried me it seems to be people just venting. They bought brand new workout equipment, the noise is non existant, and they keep most of the college kids in the same building. Seriously they have done very well with this community. Ohh and for all the people that mentioned the neighboring community, I hope people realize that those were racist comments and are not true of that community.

Not worth the money

My family moved here last March. We thought we were moving into a "luxury" apartment...guess what!! Though the apartments are beautiful there are lots of problems that come along. First, is the noise issue. You can hear EVERYTHING that is going on with your neighbors. Another issue is Regency. I don't care what everyone else says...it is considered "the projects." Of course the ladies in the office fail to tell you about these lovely neighbors. If you watch out your window, they have some kind of bust alomst every weekend. One weekend about 30 police cars came flying up the road and jumped out of their cars with all their guns pulled. Man do I feel safe here!!! One of the main issue now is the type of people the leasing office is advertising to. We now have lots of young men that go to a local car mechanic school. They all have 3-4 guys living in one apartment. They drive loud cars with VERY loud radios, that they have no problem playing very late at night or heck even during the day while my child is napping! They do not consider their neighbors while they play loud music in their apartments. Sometimes my wine rack and plates shake!!! They also work on their cars in the parking lot. You have to love that. Parking is another issue. They don't have lines painted in front of our building so people take up 2-3 parking spots. Sometimes I don't leave the building after 4:00p.m that way I don't have to fight for a spot. Your utility bills are out of control. This summer our A/C bill ran us around $180.00. I can't wait to see what this winter will bring us. The ladies in the office don't take care of complaints. They always tell me to call the cops...I shouldn't have to. The gates are another issue. They rarely work, and anyone can get in. The rent is way to expensive. You could own a very nice house for what you pay here. We can't wait until our lease is up.

Good morning, we got new upstairs neighbors

Don't you hate it when you're woken up to the noise of new neighbors moving in?

Sounds like a bunch of young guys too. Ok... it's VERY noisy, they're moving in. I'm already hating our new neighbors. Doesn't sound neighborly, does it? That's what you have to get used to at Millview. You are taught to HATE your upstairs neighbors. You can hear conversations... toilets flush, phone ringing and pretty much everything else.

We've been living here over a year and although the apt. is beautiful and nice and spacious it was REALLY nice recently when our upstairs neighbors had moved out. It's been so nice and quiet... now THIS!

There are SO many empty apartments here... WHY pick the one above us???

We've tolerated the short parking spaces.... now the "bad hill" has been paved. We put up plastic to insulate us in the winter and are frugal and conservative and our PECO bills are decent. The cheap carpets are giving us allergies and have torn up our vacuum cleaner(s) -- but nothing is perfect, at least we don't have mold like older nasty apts.

It's going to be interesting... these guys will probably be here until we move out when our lease is up next year.

Where are those ear plugs?

I love Millview

I love millview! ! ! ! It's really nice. If go to a apartment website and see the picture it REALLY looks like that. The apartments are really clean and the people in the front office are really nice. There's a pool and a gym in the club house and there are also garages you can ret if you want. It's a gated community and nobody can get in after 6 and before 7 without a key. This is my first apartment and it's perfect. People talk about the community around but it is not bad at all. The houses are jus rundown it's not a BAD community, so it gives people the impression that it's a "bad" community. TRUST ME my mom and my roommates mom called the local police and asked them. One round is bad getting up there but there are two alternate routes you can take that is ok. If your looking for a place around the coatesville area Millview is a excellent choice.

              If you have young children

I have lived in Millview for just over a year now and have another review out there but could not figure out how to edit that one.

My initial review still stands to say that Millview is by far the best place in the area for the money. Yes utilities are high and you pay gas, electric and water, but those things are going to be what you use. Aside from which the only way to truly control heating or cooling bills is to control the weather.

Anyway, I would like to address the issues that I have now noticed having children. The location is still spectacular and the surrounding area is not a problem. However, certain "features" of the apartment do not make for a safe environment.

1. Because the ceilings are high, the windows are huge. Yes, they are a thing of beauty, but when you must be concerned about having your windows blocked so that your walking child does not push out a screen and fall out, they are a safety hazard.
2. The door handles in the apartment as well as the front door are lever. Yes, they are convenient and I am sure a welcome to any older residents that may suffer from arthritis, however, to a toddler, they are easy access. SO, unless you plan to lock all doors and need to use the little pushpin key to open them, your toddler will have free roaming abilities whether the doors are closed or not. I don't know that knob handles would be better, but I know my little one would have a more difficult time getting a good grip to open them. So, plan on expandable gates for each doorway, or plan to do more babyproofing than a daycare.

3. The front door has an electronic deadbolt. Now, that will lower your renters insurance premium, however, it's an invitation to an ambitious child. Electronic deadbolts do not need to be unlocked in order to open the door. One quick turn of that handle and the door is open. So, plan on installing a chain lock once your child figures that one out because otherwise they'll be out the door while you are in the kitchen cooking dinner.

Don't get me wrong, I love my apartment and I love the staff in the office. As a parent though, there are things I wish I would have realized before we moved in so that I might have looked at other places more objectively. But, if you don't have young ones that would be a safety concern, sign your lease the moment it's in your hands.

                Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover

Yes, the place looks nice, but please do not be deceived. My roomate and I moved to Millview in August of 2004. At first, everything was fine but reality soon set in. You realize why utilities are not included...mainly when you see the heating bill. The complex was built extremely fast and cheap materials (windows!) were used. In the colder months, the apartment is very drafty and the heating bills are outrageous! My roomate and I had to keep our heat at 68 degrees for the winter and froze our butts off and still had 3 months where the heating bill was $200 or higher. Town home and single family homes using gas in this area have cheaper heating bills. The combined rent and utilities cost is ridiculous and you can easily find a much better bargain.
Also, along with several other people who reviewed Millview, the gates were not working until close to Christmas and there are still no cameras installed at the front gates. Maybe if there were, they would be able to see who crashed right through the gates two times within the past two months.
The fitness center WAS nice, however it has been taken over by teenagers who have not a care in the world for others property. One ellyptical machine had a handle completely broken off rendering it useless, the tv remote has been smashed and you can't use the ping pong table due to people stealing the paddles and the balls. Also, for how many buildings there are in the complex, the gym is extremely small.
The majority of the people in the office are extremely flighty and really have no clue how to do their jobs. To prove this point, 3 office managers have been fired within the last 3 months. When you have issues to contend with, all you get is a run-around and the problem will either take forever to get solved or won't be solved at all. Even the managment co (Chetty Builders) is not helpful when there are issues.
For a place that claims to be so luxury and nice, it is disappointing to have to write a review like this. I usually am not a complainer but I feel people who are thinking of renting at Millview ought to know what goes on. I was so excited to live there and no can't wait to leave. This place has horrible tenant/management communication as well as being a huge money pit. If you want the best for your well-being and your money, you'd probably be best off going somewhere else.

                  Can't wait to get out!

The apartments are beautiful, yes, but that's most likely because they're new.
My roomate and I have had nothing but problems since we've come here. The people in the office have NO idea what they're doing and can't seem to find the time to solve anything you throw their way. They constantly give you the runaround and for the price you pay to live here, you're throwing your money away the second you sign the lease.
The cost to heat the tiny apartment in winter is astronomical -- the windows and door are VERY drafty, and even though the ceilings look great at 9 ft., it sucks away all the heat. My roomate and I decided to freeze for the last half of winter because we could barely afford to pay our bills.
If you have neighbors above or below you, you'll learn to hate them -- just because you can hear EVERYTHING.
The apartments are beautiful, but made so poorly that I'm amazed none have collapsed yet.
Also, the fact that the cameras at the front gate STILL don't work has not lessened our rent any.
This place is horrible and I can't wait til my last 3 months are up!

                    Overall Great Place

I moved into Millview in May 2004 and overall, it's been a great place to live. I have the largest 2BR, 2BA and it's unbelievably spacious. Huge closets, plenty of cabinets in the kitchen. Rooms are spacious and the layout is very open. I've had as many as 15 adults in my apt for a card game without being overly crowded.

Maintenance was a little slow responding to some of the move-in check list items but since then, I haven't had to call them. There isn't much for kids to do there - the playground is outside of the complex and due to older kids from Regency or the Development hanging there, you have to be warned about what your kids will hear when playing there and can't go there alone. Some of the boys had been playing in the dirt pile over the summer which maintenance didn't like and instead of asking the boys to leave, the maintenance man yelled & cursed at the children which left me a bit unhappy. If we had been told for them to not play in the dirt, they wouldn't have been there. Parking used to be more of an issue but the office issued a letter asking people to be more curteous and the residents seemed to listen.

The ladies in the office have always been nice, not the most organized people around, but nice. I apparently had a rent credit floating on the books since I moved in and wasn't told about it until months later when it was up to $700. Came in handy for Christmas but something so basic I should have known about.

Yes, the roads coming in stink. No, that's not Millview's fault.

There is a noise issue but it's liveable. Every neighbor I've met has been very courteous and responds to requests to take it down a notch. You have that anywhere.

The security gates are now "working" - there is no camera in place as I was told there would be. I've had guests that couldn't get the "buzz in" system to work so I've had to go down and use my pass to get them in.

Regency is nearby, but I've had limited problems with it. I had a neighbor who's bike had been stolen repeatedly but when you leave it under the main stairs unchained, what can you expect? I did once have a Regency child apparently opening a FedEx package but a neighbor scared them off. The office will hold packages for you though and since then, that is what I've done. Coatesville PD routinely patrols the complex/area which helps keep problems at bay.

The pool is awesome, the complex is clean and meticulously landscaped. I was disappointed to find that my first snow storm there resulted in a snow covered parking lot when I arrived home at 5:30 and then had to listen to snow plows at 10pm when I'm trying to sleep.

I'm on the fence about renewing, but that's mainly due to my commute for work. The fact that I love my apt is what has me on the fence. I really don't want to leave. They do raise the rent 5% every year according to the lease. The pet policy is a bit excessive - $350 non-refundable security PLUS $35/m. One or the other should suffice. The utility bill seems to run a bit higher than I would expect but cheaper than some places I've heard about.

Overall, for a rental, you can't touch the size and quality for the price.

Better than anything else in the area

We have lived here since August of 2004 and when we first moved in I couldn't rave about this place enough. Since then though, my excitement has tamed itself. When we initially signed on to a 2 year lease with the manager at the time, we were pretty much appeased. Any question we asked we were given the answer she thought we wanted to here. Now, in January we are having some issues. Just some advice...if they tell you they are or aren't going to do something, get it in writing immediately. Reagent is a not so welcoming neighborhood that is about 100 feet from Millview. There are very shady happenings that occur there regularly. I'm glad to see that we finally got the gate system working, but to date the cameras aren't working and there are still large pieces of fencing surrounding the property that have not been installed. I guess my frustration is that these are things that brought me to live here and that I'm contributing to with every monthly rent payment I make.

We have the large 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment and it really is beautiful. For the price and for everything being new it really is a good deal. So, I guess the disappoinment really lies with the administration of the complex, not the complex itself.

                        Absolutely a Yes

When moving here from Columbus, Ohio, I had inquired into several apartments in Chester County. From the outset I told my husband that Millview was going to be the best. After looking at 18 apartments in 3.5 days, we signed our 2 year lease here.

I will agree with the reviews about the road coming up to Millview from Route 82, however that is not the responsibility of the complex. Additionally, as for the "less desirable" neighbors in the area, I have noticed no problems at all. In many ways I think that observation is based on stereotypical analysis rather than actual data.

The gym is awesome, the office staff friendly and knowledgeable, parking ample, well lit, and quiet. As for soundproofing as written in a previous review, I have not noticed a problem unless another tenant is not being curteous to his/her neighbors. Even houses in housing developments can hear their neighbors if they are loud, that has nothing to do with insulation....it has to do with common curtious behavior.

We have the largest floor plan and have plenty of space to store all of our belongings. The kitchen is huge and has real wood cabinetry, ceramic tub and tile in the bathrooms is much easier to clean than non-skid surfaces, and the light fixtures are beautiful.

We recommnded this apartment to a co-worker of my husband as we felt it was the best in the area for the price.

If you do your research, I am sure that you will find Millview to be among the best overall value and quality in Downingtown, Exton, West Chester, Thorndale, Coatesville area.
Things to keep in mind...

I moved to Millview in 2/04. I would have liked to have known these things before I moved in and not wasted all of my money - but that is life I guess. I know you will read other reviews but here's pros and cons straight from Francis Drive.

Cons:
We were told about the security features (gated access, security cameras, phone system) and my wife and I were impressed. It's now 11/04 and only one side of the gates work, camera's are not functioning, and the phone system to let guests at the gate in are not installed.
Once you see who's across the street from you, you'll know why you WANT the gates working.

They also seemed to rush in finishing our apartment b/c the paint came off the walls with a swipe of a damp paper towel. Wood is also VERY soft too (enough to make an imprint if not careful).
The one road to get up to the place really is TERRIBLE! There are two other entrances to the top of the hill but they are a little out of the way. Better have a good suspension system to get up there.
Surrounding area is rundown (which is why you want the security features)
Rent is costly for what you get
Parking is a little limited but still ok - they need to paint lines
Patios are too small for my taste

Pros:
Rentable garages (little pricy for my taste)
Nice having a washer and drier at my disposal.
It IS new...
Gym and pool (it was nice to have the pool this summer)
Breakfast bar in the apartment
T1 line (high speed internet) included in first years rent
Maintenance does a good job and in a timely manner

Why they are losing my business in 05:
It seems to me they are more concerned about getting business in than keeping business there. There's almost no interaction with any of the "neighbors". Supposedly they're raising the rent $50 next year. It could be a nice place in a couple of years, but they need to do a lot of work in making sure the place is easy to get to and make the "customers" feel like they are wanted.
For what I can get 30 miles more west of the area, I'm better off moving.

                            I love my new home.....

I have lived here at Millview for about 4 months now. I have to say that I really do love my literally brand new apartment. My sister just told me about this website and i figured I'd give it a look. I was shocked by one of the reviews that talked about the road leading up here being an issue. If that's the only problem that millview has then i don't really see the problem. Before I lived here I lived in an apartment in Thorndale. Try living in an apartment that always flooded, always had squeaky floorboards, and bugs that rivaled my cat in size. That is problem living at it's best. As for me I like this place alot. I like the girls in the office and I really like the gym. Makes my mornings easier just to go to the gym on the property instead of going to my gym that's 20 minutes away. So would I refer someone here??? Absolutely. Thanks for taking the time and reading this... Hope it helps you with your decision...

I was greeted by some of the most professional, knowledgeable women I have ever worked with.

After coming up that wretched road, I asked the staff when it would be paved. I was given the response of "Soon." The nice woman in the office also gave me a more convenient way to get in and out of the complex without travelling down that road.
I have come to the realization that it is NOT the repsonsibility of the complex to maintain public roads.

I was concerned about the neighborhood up the street, but I haven't seen or heard any problems. Across the street there are $200,000 homes and I haven't heard of any problem they have had either.. I am glad to call Millivew Home.

                                Beautiful Community--Glad I Lived There

I just moved from Millview and I miss it!! I am now in a different town and a different apartment community, and I really miss the beautiful apartments and the wonderful staff at Millview. They knew my name when I walked in the door, and any maintenance requests I had were taken care of quickly. I've never lived in such a nice apartment; I really miss it. I would highly recommend this community to anyone who wants a gorgeous apartment along with a great office staff!

Beautiful Apartment - But Major Drawbacks

As another reviewer said the road to the apartments is terrible. I was told it would be paved shortly. We are going into the winter, and it still has not been fixed. I made various calls to the different townships to no avail. The winter should be interesting. The apartments are beautiful, and I love having a washer and dryer and 2 full baths. The highspeed connection is great! However I guess they forgot to soundproof or even make an attempt at it. You have no personal conversations unless you whisper otherwise it can be heard downstairs, on the other side, and through your front door. We are forced to listen daily to our neighbors musical selections. Also, There is a rough neiborhood in close proximity. Although, the community is gated. Overall, it was my dream place, but had I known about the drawbacks, I probably would have made a different choice.

                                      Great place to live

I just moved here two months ago and love it. I didn´t think I could afford to live in a brand new apartment but the rents here are lower than at some of the older apartments in the area. My apartment is really big, the kitchen is gorgeous and there´s a lot of closet space. The best part though is that everything is clean and NEW. The people in the office were friendly and helpful too. I´d definitely recommend it.

I´m glad I made the switch!

Moving here was the best decision I´ve made in a long time. I recently moved out of my old apartment complex after having been there for 3 years. It was a nice area to live, right off of a golf course, but the apartment was literally falling apart. It´s quite a change of pace to be in an apartment that is brand new. Everytime I had a problem at my old apartment (and I always had problems) I went to the leasing office and I was handled with a rude unprofessional manor. Here I haven´t had any problems and the leasing staff and manager are always courteous and friendly to my wife and I. Do I recommend this apartment complex? Well the answer is simple. Why rent an apartment that´s already been lived in when you can get a brand new apartment. As a matter of fact my wife and I have already recommended this place to some of our friends and one of them is actually moving in next week.
