My husband and I have lived in The Farms at Cool Springs apartments since the beginning of 2012. We downsized from a 4 bedroom house to this apartment (a 2 bedroom) when we relocated to the Nashville area for my husband's new job. While it was an adjustment getting used to a smaller living space, we LOVE this apartment complex. The complex is very clean and "manicured" looking, the staff is friendly (for the most part - we did have a small personality issue with one lady there), they are always very fast on maintenance requests, and the location is unbeatable -- very close to the interstate, mall, other shops, restaurants, bars, etc. We often take walks on the walking trails in the Cool Springs area in the evenings/at night, and we always feel safe doing so. We looked at several apartments in the Cool Springs area, and kept coming back to this one because we couldn't find the bedroom size, kitchen size, or closet space anywhere else. The apartments were built in 1997; however, aside from a few cosmetic choices (formica countertops, white cabinets without hardware in our particular unit, etc), it's hard to tell that the apartments/complex are more than a few years old -- they take VERY good care of it. I believe they also have some newly upgraded apartments available for higher monthly rent. We didn't want to waste our money on that, though, as we anticipate only being in the apartment for a few years before buying another home. Nice that you have the option, though! Also, parking in front of our building is never a problem (I mention this because the parking at our temporary apartment -- coincidentally one of the complexes across the street -- was AWFUL). We almost always get a parking spot right in front of our breezeway, and only occasionally have to park in front of the next breezeway over (same building) if we are getting in pretty late. We are very happy with our choice. :)

Skip, I wanted to thank you for all your help during the time I've lived there at the complex. I appreciate you always being available and approachable for any questions/problems I might of had, and always quickly finding an answer/solution with a smile on your face. You are most definitely the glue that keeps your complex together! Thanks again, J. Goodwin

I lived in a 2 bed room apartment in this complex. I was going to post a detailed review but after looking at several posts, I found it a waste of time to rewrite lot of the same negative things that many others already posted. My only regret is had I read these reviews, I would not have wasted $1100 a month living in this old, cheap, dirty apartments with full of maintenance issues from Day 1. Stay away from Alara Cool Springs - there are other better choices in this area.

Having dealt with Sarah S. who works at Alara. this was regarding a move and I must admit that I was very satisfied with all aspects of my transition. My wife has also expressed her satisfaction with her attention to detail, anticipatory actions and overall timeliness with our transaction. her level of professionalism and attention to detail were exemplary and exceeded our expectations. Overall an excellent experience and I would not hesitate to recommend

I've been here 5 months and I've had mostly positive experiences. Pros: Location, close to work and shopping. The gym, play park, pool(although its often overrun with kids) and the tennis court are nice and well kept. The carpeting is of better quality than other places I've rented. Maintenance guys always get the job done the first time. Neighbors and staff are friendly. Cons: Noise the ceilings are terrible thin not only can I hear the upstairs neibors kids running but I also hear the toilet flush, the shower running and the dishwasher running, so if you do rent here get a top floor! The appliances are ancient my step dad said my dishwasher is the same one he had in his apartment in the late 80's. The "green" space in front my apartment is just a few trees, some sparse weird evergreen bushes and dirt, its very unnattractive! People congregate in the parking lots letting their kids run and ride bikes, I almost hit a kid because he pedaled right in front of my car and the parents yelled at me! Overall I would choose to live here again but I would probably choose a 3rd floor in a different building!

Alara Cool Springs was a fine complex for me and my wife during our time in TN. I was a resident for the past several years and thoroughly enjoyed the staff, and property. I figure enough people come on here to only say negative things or to vent about somewhere or someone, so I wanted to be one of the few to express my gratitude to the service and respect I received each time I entered the leasing office, as well as the fantastic maintenance team and their timely responses to any work orders I ever submitted. All the best to each and every one of you! I greatly miss the TN weather, especially the approaching fall! Cheers, and God bless.

There are only 3 reasons why people are probably living in these apartments - 1. Location. 2. Location and 3. Location. If you are enticed to choose these apartments by exterior appearance (which is not great BTW), you are in for a shock. I have lived in at least 7 apartments in 4 states and they all range from low-end to high end. If you ask me which one you really would not recommend, I would not be able to say as each apartment has its pros and cons - more you pay better you get. The day before I moved into a unit here in Alara Cool Springs, I had an opportunity to visit it. Guess what - maintenance is still 'working' on it. The day I moved in, I was welcomed by the dirtiest apartment, dirtiest appliances and leaking bathroom and a minor issue - the blinds fell down while trying to close'em !! I have never thought I will be dealing with maintenance issues right from the day I move into a new apartment. I lived in low-end apartments but they are no competition to Alara Cool Springs. Did I mention about maintenance crew ? - total lack of workmanship, no courtesy, and verrrrry delayed response to maintenance problems. I will end this with a word about one of the leasing agents by the name, I will skip the giving name part, but she is a ------------ girl. She is THE rudest and worst Customer Service Rep I have met in my 20 years of adult life. I worked as a Manager for 8 years and one of my primary responsibilities was to ensure my employees delivered supreme customer service as Customers pay our paychecks. Our Company required us to periodically review employee's Customer Service record. With the total lack of Customer Service spirit, how she is still working (last I checked in early 2012) there is still beyond me !! May be the owners want their employees to be the worst Customer Service reps ?

We have lived here for three months and the maintenance crew has been great. They are courteous, friendly, efficient and they come do their job in a timely manner. They are respectful of the residents and therefore you don't mind them coming into your home. The assistant manager is also very courteous, caring and friendly.

We lived at Alara Cool Springs for a year. Cool Springs is a great location; your best best if you want to be near Nashville but in a better school district. Since there are so many choices of apartments, choose wisely! Alara Cool Springs is nice on the outside, but rotten on the inside - from the apartments to the staff. The units are old and in dire need of updating (especially for the price you are paying). Dog poop everywhere, and very smelly in the summer. The staff are all good looking and polite, but if there is a problem or worse yet a conflict, they get ugly and incompetent. Plus, the staff turn-around is no different than the tenant turn-around. It's a mill. You will never feel like this is your home. Make it a short lease and get out before you start to get irritated.

I find Alara Cool Springs to be an outstanding community in which to live. The management and staff have our best interests at heart, which is to provide an excellent place to call home, and updates and upgrades are continually happening. I would like to rebut a review that I just read on here about Alara attempting to keep kids from playing in certain areas. Those areas are called PARKING LOTS and DRIVEWAYS, and some parents have not been wise enough to realize those are not safe places to play. Also, they do encourage safety flotation devices on small children in the pools. Alara management and staff are extremely open to resident input and feedback and they do take it seriously. Overall, Alara Cool Springs is an attractive, safe place to live, with many amenities and good-sized living spaces available. The staff are attentive to its residents' needs and safety. It is truly a place to call home.

Overpriced!!
Alara Cool Springs has raised their rent around 30% in the middle of the worst management the unit has had in years. The grounds aren't kept up to par. The staff is mean and condescending. This place has gone to ----.

Save your money
Maybe one competent staff member. Management does nothing to help problems when they occur other than to say "oops!" The resident's kids run the parking lots creating an unsafe, noisy, and chaotic environment. The kids turn off AC units from the outside and leave trash and scooters everywhere. If you want a nice place to live for the expense you go to, then don't live here.

Not bad, but needs some work
I live at Alara with my husband and 18 month old daughter. We are on the third floor in a 3-bedroom. We are renewing our 15 month lease soon, although I'm annoyed that they are raising the rent by approx $100/month, I am not surprised. The staff here has been ok - no real problems there. The maintenance team responds quickly. The apartment itself is pretty nice. The pool is extremely well maintained though it does get crowded. They recently revamped the gym and it's much improved. They are always keeping up the grounds - planting flowers, trimming trees, picking up trash, etc. It's well-maintained. There are a lot of other families with small children in our building so noise isn't a huge issue. I like the fact that rent can be paid online, but I find it annoying that the rent money has to come from one source. meaning, that you can't split the rent between two credit cards/bank accounts. They won't accept two checks from two separate bank accounts which I find odd. We have had some issues... the main problem is that the apartment has TERRIBLE insulation. This causes huge heating/electric bills. The air conditioner broke last summer and it took days for them to fix it. Not a fun situation to be in with a cranky baby. The heater also struggles when it's very cold. The maintenance guys tried to fix it but ultimately their efforts made little impact. Also the maintenance guys are very friendly for the most part, but seem like they don't have a lot of knowledge or experience. They said there were "some problems with the wiring in our building" which was "due to a fire awhile back" which made me really nervous. They didn't elaborate any further. We pay a monthly pet fee instead of a security deposit. I can live with that. I like the walking trails and playground and proximity to hotels, shopping, restaurants etc. Overall happy here, just wish it was a little cheaper.

Too expensive for what you get
I moved into Alara Cool Springs in 2010. I did a work order to replace a torn window screen on my master bedroom, and it took almost a YEAR before that was done - I was told several times that they had to special order them. I have also had repeated service requests to have my toilet and bathroom sink fixed so they are not constantly dripping, and now I have to keep the water turned off when I'm not using them, so my water bill is not through the roof. Also, I have a floorplan with a built-in desk, which I thought would be great for working at home, but there is no connection for the internet there unless you have wireless. Alara is currently repainting the entire complex, but failed to put any signs out that they were painting around our doors; I got paint on my white fabric purse because I didn't realize they had painted earlier that day. While this complex has not been horrible, you would be better off spending your $900 rent for a 1-bedroom apartment somewhere else.

Longer term resident's thoughts
We sold a house and moved into this complex and were renters by choice. The differential between the average mortgage and the opportunity cost on utilizing savings to buy a house was very great in the first few years we lived here and we were interested in the high school for our children. The apartment complex has increased the rent almost 50 percent in the last several years and it is no longer worth living here. We intend to move at the end of the lease. Maintenance people are very quick to respond and do excellent work. Unfortunately they are called on to respond a lot as the place was rather shoddily built in the mid-90s. The buildings are poorly insulated and heating bills for winter can range into 180-200 per cold month and around 150 for summer hot months. This is for a 1000 square foot apartment after having personally weather-stripped the doors and windows. Rooms with an outside wall are 10-15 degrees colder or hotter than interior spaces on average. Hot water heaters are half the size of a normal heater and hot water runs out with a family taking showers. The grounds are very well kept and there is good walking space with a county walking trail behind the complex. The pool is nice and well kept. Good for kids except on the weekends as the apartment complex doesn't enforce its guest rules well. For the last couple years there are a lot of mid 20s singles who come and drink at the pool and are a bit rowdy and obscene. The longer term residents here seem to be middle age and retired and are very nice. We have had a wonderful time in regard to the people we've dealt with. Last issue is dogs. Mostly the owners seem to take care of them but a few allow them to defecate at will without cleaning up. You have to watch where your kids are playing. A generally nice place to live if it makes sense economically, but they seem to be trying to close the gap between their rent and the note on a 3-5 thousand square foot house so it no longer makes sense.

You'll be embaressed that you rented from Alara.
What a horrible place to live. I have had so many problems with Alara that I'm ashamed I hadn't read these reviews before renting. I was looking for a place quickly and Alara waved the initial move in fees. I wish I wouldn't have been blinded by that deal, becuase I definetly paid for it in the end. I had so many maintence and bug issues that I was embarressed to have guests over. Parking is horrible and the staff is down right awful. All of these current reviews are true, with the execption of the one that looks like the manager or staff wrote. Do your self a favor and dont rent from Alara, and ignore any of the managers attempts to cover up their bad ratings.

Disgusting dump, avoid alara!
We are former residents with less than pleasant experience at alara. Management is careless & evasive, maintenance takes two days plus to respond to simple requests, apartments are dated, bugs/spiders are a real problem, 'valet trash' is trash left on breezeways three days per week that you get to step over in the morning, I could go on & on. It appears the few positive reviews on this site are written by alara staff which is a poor attempt at damange control. Location is not everything!

Why I call Alara Home
I have called alara Cool Springs my home now since April 2004. I never thought I would feel at home in an apartment environment having lived in a house for many years, but upon moving here was happy to find the apartments are structured like homes with built in bookcases, desks, high ceilings, molding, four 72 inch windows and a 35 inch window thoughout my home. All of the rooms are open and spacious. I have mature trees right off my patio, beautiful foliage and a view of the neighboring hills which makes it look and feel like a home. The complex is full of mature trees and foliage which offer beauty, privacy, shade and a great place to walk, especially if you have dogs and children. There are sidewalks that run inside the perimeter of the complex and a nature trail that runs parallel to the complex. I have always found the management and staff to be responsive to any requests; often times the maintenance staff meet me at my apt. when necessary before I leave for work. I have had to call the after hours maintenance line when there were leaks in the apt. above me and my calls were returned and responded to quickly regardless of the late hours. Since I moved here in April 2004, the property, gym, landscaping and buildings have always been well maintained and the quality of living hasn't changed over the years as it does with other complexes. The management hosts events for the community as a whole and also special events for children like the Easter egg hunt in the Spring. The office provides free movie/DVD rental, which is very nice. I don't believe there is any other complex like Alara Cool Springs with it's unique qualities which is why I love my home at Alara Cool Springs.

My experience at Farms
I lived at Alara Farms/Farms at Cool Springs from July 2006-August 2011. The very first person I met at Farms was Skip Johnston, the leasing director. Right away, I was impressed by Skip's kindness and professionalism. Skip showed me several apartments, and I fell in love with #18202 which is where I lived for 5 years. The apartment was highly functional and felt luxurious. I loved the attached garage which allowed me direct entry into my unit. The one-bedroom apartment was spacious and had plenty of storage. The amenities at Farms were fabulous; I especially loved the pool and clubhouse. The valet trash removal was a nice convenience. The community at Farms was consistently pleasant. The office staff were friendly and helpful, and the maintenance team was attentive. When I reported maintenance issues, I always received a call back within less than an hour. With the exception of a chronically clogging toilet that was replaced this past spring, I rarely had significant maintenance issues. After 5 years living in Cool Springs, it was time for me to move closer to downtown Nashville. Throughout the moving process, Skip was supportive and answered all my questions. He even helped me sell my washer and dryer to a new tenant. I can honestly say that the staff at Farms went the extra mile for me on several occasions...which is why I stayed therefor five years! Not worth service for the price. Staff is not intersted in facilitating existing customers, only NEW customers entertained!
I lived in Apara cool springs for more than a year and from my experience, these apartments are extremely overprised for their services. 1. The quality of the apartments and the included appliances are pathetic. Needs lot of maintenance. 2. Most of the staff is always interested in new cosuomers, and they are not interested in existing customers. while booking the apartments for rental, they would give preference to new customers over and existing customer would need to renew/extend his/her lease, (there could be some obvious reasons, such as the additional processing fees etc they charge to new customers!) 3. They would charge lot of extra charges to the leaving customers for no logical reasons. And there is no way you can dis-agree those charges as they would already cut it form your deposits! To summerize, my personal experience with this apartment is very unsatisfactory, and I would give one star only for the good location and good parking facility.

Wonderful place to live!!!
Alara Cool Springs was by far the best apt community I have ever experienced. The staff was always friendly and eager to please. The maintenance were always prompt to take care of any issue. They are also zoned for the best elementary and middle schools in Williamson county. After my time at Alara I would highly recommend that you tour their apartments and see for yourself.

Home is what I found at The Farms at Cool Springs
I found myself in need of temporary housing last summer, but what I found was a home.Skip Johnston and I discussed my needs,he is a intuitive listener,a man with great deal of patience I might add. Skip found a lovely apartment,I call it my tree house because of the situation of the apartment nested in the lovely trees surrounding the property. I felt like a bird in a nest outside my patio door. I found the staff quick to respond to any request. The property is very well maintained and has beautiful seasonal landscape. Pets are welcomed here and very well provided for.The club house and pool area more resort like then apartment.I felt very safe here and very comfortable with my neighbors. I want to thank Skip and staff at the Farms at Cool Springs I hate to leave but know I would come back to my little nest in the trees at the Farms at Cool Springs. Neoma Moss
