New management IS NOT good
I´ve lived here for two years and had been reasonably happy. JPI was the original management co, and they were absolutely great. The rent was fair, the lease was fair, management was responsive, the grounds were well-maintained -- in sum a great experience. JPI sold to Worthing, which held the property for six months and sold to RAM. Worthing was okay -- not as stellar as JPI, but well within reason. I had no problem renewing my lease for a competitive rate and the lease terms on both companies were fairly reasonable.

Now RAM has bought the property. The offers to new people are great, but they will get you on renewal, so BE CAREFUL and SIGN a long lease if you move here. They have attempted to increase my rent by more than 30% and yet they will lease my apartment for LESS THAN I currently pay. I would actually come out ahead by moving to another identical apartment, even including all the costs of moving, transfer fees, new deposits, cleaning. I´ve never encountered a management company that seems to actively discourage renewals, but RAM or the current manager appears to have that philosphy. Just be aware that old reviews don´t apply to this new management

Good place to live
After living at Alara Farms for almost a year now, I can say I would recommend it to others. There are many good things about Alara Farms, but there are some bad. After changing management; it changed a little bit. I am glad that we are moving because we are getting much more for our money at our new apartments! Parking gets worse daily, and there are less maintenance reps-so a request isn´t dealt with as quickly. The fitness center used to be great, but now out of three treadmills-you can only count on one working for sure. Overall, it is a great community, but beware of the piles of dog poop that cover any grass on the grounds.

Nice Place to Live
Had a great experience at Alara Farms, formerly Jefferson Farms. Lived in a nice One Bedroom with the largest kitchen I´ve seen in an apartment.

Expect annual large percentage rent increases.
We´ve lived at Alara Farms for 2 years. The first year, we only paid $790.00 per month. We were surprised at our lease renewal to find that not only do we have to pay for $10.00 garbage fee (which is a joke!! since you have to take your garbage down at the crack of dawn) but that our rent was now a lovely $965.00. The staff is very rude and annoying. You will get warning stickers on your car, but be assured that the property doesn´t have enough parking... so everyone must improvise. There is dog feces everywhere. People don´t pick up after their animals. Our A/C didn´t work for a whole year... we´d call, they´s say, "we fixed it." And it wouldn´t work again. There are annoying gates AND a bar that lowers.... things change a lot... and never for the better. We are moving out and ready to do so! I hope that someone has had a good
experience there, b/c we have NOT. I would not recommend this high priced snobby staffed home to anyone.
