Had Fun
I had so much fun yesterday at the pool party that the management held. It was so much fun getting to know new people. Thank you to all who made it fun for me and my family.

Great Community
Overall, my experience has been a good one. I would definitely refer this community to anyone who asked. If I had to I would renew my lease today.

The GOOD and BAD - reviews should have BOTH!
Beware of the numerous reviews that boast about the 'perfectness' of van metre; especially those that rave about the staff. I wonder who wrote those... In the year that I lived there the following things stand out: I liked my apartment - spacious, 2 bedrooms, great bathroom soaking tub, fireplace, modern appliances, etc. The complex is also pet-friendly, so my 60lb dog was allowed at an additional deposit and monthly fee. - All of that was not worth the price, especially when the sales technique is to deceive you when you are a NEW potential renter. They offer move-in specials that make you think you are getting a good deal. When you go to sign your lease you find that your rent is automatically $70 more than everything they quoted because that is how much you pay for the extra benefits of the clubhouse, fitness center and cable/internet that is already installed; only it is NOT optional. This should just be included UP FRONT in the renting price then. - The WORST part of it, is that we were content in apartment, even would have stayed there since moving is such a pain, but in order to renew our contract they were going to INCREASE OUR MONTHLY RENT BY $500 A MONTH. Literally, we just got a notice one day shoved in our door that said our rent would be over $2000/month- we were paying $1500. A 33% INCREASE!!!! I just can't get over that. I immediately went on this website and posted a review - "Good for ONE year"; which, surprisingly was followed by tons of posts afterward boasting about the great staff and how the poster was going to renew their lease, etc. So many posts in fact, mine didn't even show up on the first page anymore. They seriously have nothing better to do with their time than to even deceive people on this website. YOU CAN FIND BETTER. Try working with a realtor - if you are renting, it's free. We now pay 1500/month for 3 bedroom townhome, fenced yard, quiet neighborhood, finished basement, etc.

Not Luxury
Advertises as luxury, but I can't see it. Low-end kitchen counter and appliances, low-end carpet, low-end fixtures, but I guess for the rent I should not complain. Says gated, but the gates randomly work, are randomly open or closed, or are vandalized. Seems like no one knows how to use, or maybe does not have the gate radio opener (took me months to get one because they were "out"), so they just break the gate and voila, no hassles. Built in surround sound is really just two low-end speakers in the wall. MDU communications provides internet and cable - barely. Only about 60 channels, no HD, and none of the higher end tiers. They say you can get DirectTV, but most apartments here do not have proper angle/view for the DirectTV antenna. Internet connections have been spotty too. I work from home occasionally and have found that the internet is down quite a bit. Seriously, this is the ONLY apartment complex in northern Virginia using their own provider. Forget FIOS or other. Does not exist here. Definitely not worth the $75 per month that they charge. As far as maintenance goes, response is slow, and they default to cheapest fix, not the best fix. My faucets leaked and instead of replacing the gasket the guy just tightened them. Started leaking again, tightened it again. And again. Frustrating when he could have fixed it right the first time (yes, I complained several times). Noise is also a problem. As far as staff goes, they appear friendly, and aren't rude, but when the community has problems (with gates for example), and nothing gets done, you have to question what they are doing. Wish I had a picture of the gates, I'd upload one.

I don't seem to have a problem
Maybe my expectations are low, but this is not a bad place to live. I've read what folks are complaining about, mostly Internet (which sucked, but now is better) or cable, (it's cable). As far as the noise from neighbors -- this just in -- it's an APARTMENT. The last apartment I lived in, my upstairs neighbor fried fish for dinner three times a week and smoked heavily... I got to enjoy all of it because the vents in the bathrooms were connected. That SUCKED. This place -- not so much. Parking sucks, but when you're used to your own driveway of course it will. I just wonder how many residents have multiple (more than 2) cars!!!! I recommended it to a friend who moved here -- they seem to like it too. I do wish that they would catch up on the garbage collection. Overall 8 outta 10.

Great Customer Service
The customer service that I have received since I have become a residence of Van Metre Woodland Park has been far beyond my expectations and exceptional if I may say. The staff here at the property do an exceptional job and go above and beyond the call of duty. There is a highly professional staff here at the property. Thank you for your support on all concerns.

Internet is MUCH BETTER- Like FIOS!
I'm over all satisfied with woodland park, recently had some issues with Internet access and that problem was stayed for almost more than 2 months, but now they are stable and works fantastic like a FIOS.

This will be my second post about this apartment complex. If you search back, you will see I made another post back in the day before I actually moved in about the horrendous leasing process and extremely poor customer relations. Now that I have been living in this place for over 2 months, I think it is only fair to make another post. Before I begin, I am sure most can tell from my earlier post and my style I don't work for Van Metre, so this will be real feedback :) Parking: Parking actually not bad. If you come from work late, you will find most spots taken, but there is always a spot. Maybe not in front of your building, but there is. I have lived in all kinds of complexes and I have seen better and worse parking. Overall I would give them a passing grade. Walls and Insulation: No issues whatsoever. However, I live on the 4th floor and I did that on purpose after reading so many negative comments here about noise. I would recommend to rent a 4th floor and then make sure your apartment doesn't face towards Sun Rise Valley. You will be good as long as windows are not open. Customer Services: I am actually surprised I am saying this, but so far it has been great. It amazes me in the sense that generally you would think customer service would be better during the leasing process, but it has been the exact opposite since I moved in. They are responsive, attentive, and courteous. Gates: Always open and not maintained well. They fell on my car once! Overall: My overall impression since I moved in is positive. PS: I read this forum everyday. I don't know why but their staff is in the habit of writing reviews. Just watch those when you are evaluating this place.

So very happy.
Everyone has been very very very nice since the first day I walked in here. They made me fall in love with the place and it is very peaceful here. That is why I have been so happy, even if I am a work-a-holic. And I hope to stay here until I am able to buy a home of my own because I do not think that there is another place better to live that this.

I love this place
I have been living here at Van Metre Woodland Park for 2 years and I wouldn't change anything. The apartments are great, I love having a washer and dryer, and built in surround sound is a nice tough. The staff has been helpful and friendly. The grounds are clean and inviting. The maintainance staff has really made the difference for me though. The respond quickly and are happy to help me even if its for something as simple as installing an extra ceiling fan. I would recommend this community to anyone.

Star Community
I have enjoyed my stay at Van Metre thus far. The environment feels wonderful and I feel comfortable living here. I am pleased with how nice and helpful the staff is. I also like the option of being able to pay rent online and communicating with residents via email.(Most rental properties dont offer that). I also like all the social events that are sponsored by the Van Metre community.

So far so good...
It's only been a couple weeks but you can see the accurate pros and cons throughout all the listings. The office staff is VERY nice and helpful, the maintenance is prompt, although I've had to have them back a couple times. The apartments are nice inside, and good quality, but the walls are thin. Without music or the TV, i can hear my neighbor shutting doors. Parking is tight for sure, there's usually only one or two spots and they're not right in front of your place(this is why i got a garage), but not as far as some reviewers would make you think. So far no issues w/ MDU, but I can see that it could easily be a problem and I wouldn't mind being able to waive the $70 tech fee and sign up for services on my own. Oh, and I like the location, w/ starbucks, harris teeter, panera across the street and the clocktower(large strip shopping center w/ various businesses) just down the road. Overall I would recommend this place. After 2 months of searching I came here...any prospective renter feel free to email me w/ questions about the place...and no I don't work here.

MDU Communications = Horrible Experience
It's been since November since our internet service has been working worse that a 56k dialup connection. The apartment office offers NO solutions and no alternatives. MDU Communications is contracted to provide internet and cable service, but you are not allowed to switch to another provider if you are unsatisfied. They are trapping residents into a contact that they are not fulfilling, it's criminal. Stay away from here if you value your internet service. You won't get it here. If you are a resident here and are not getting a discount on your rent due to the lack of proper internet service, seek legal help. They are trying to rob you.

Good place to start out
My husband and I recently got married and moved to the greater D.C area for his job. We did have a budget coming up here but we didn't want it to hinder the quality of the apartment. I work as an interior designer and my picky-ness pulled through on our search. We search about 30 apartment complexes and we found a lot of very nice apartments. There are several things that drew us to this complex more than the others. Don't get me wrong it was a very close race in picking our apartment but in the end it came down to these key points: 1. Caitlyn helped us through the whole process. It was nice to come in and be handled by someone who knew anything and everything about the property. Along the way my husband and I met just about the whole staff and they were all genuinely nice. That really helped make me feel at home. 2. I love the way the apartment is laid out. As an interior designer I felt like i had walked into a blank canvas with limitless possibilities when i moved-in. I have to admit, I rearrange my furniture all the time. 3. My husband and I both love the fitness center. I work from home and I love to go in the middle of the day when its light and bright and my husband it a late nighter. Overall I am happy with living here. It is a great place to help us start out up here in NoVa and I would refer.

Liking the Home Buying Program
I've been here almost year now. I came from out of country to settle in U.S for job and Woodland Park was one of the first places I looked at here. Tom was very nice and very helpful and so were the other office workers. I felt at home here when I moved in everything was turned on and I didn't have to phone lots of places for service. I am planning to buy a home next year and they have a home buying program for resident. That really help out alot with the price of homes here in D.C area. The location of my home is good to. I drive 267 every day to work and it is right down street from here. I see lots of comment on here and I am happy with my choice.
