JB is awesome and amazing! She was extremely helpful and went the extra mile assisting my family in making our downsizing transition a pleasant one. JB's customer service and friendliness were unmatched! We feel welcomed to the community because of her.

I loved the place when I first moved in to the apartment. Nice neighborhood, close to town center and easy access to the highway. Then a couple months ago the neighbor across the hall moves out. I understand that they have to get the apartment ready for the next tenant, however, I don't pay 1200 a month to be living in a construction zone. My apartment has been shaking to the point where my pictures are falling off the wall. I can't sit at my coffee table and watch tv without my cup and plate vibrating the whole time. You would think if they are going to be back hammering on the 2nd floor from 8 am to 5pm they would give the rest of the people living in the building a heads up but no. I even had the maintenance guy in charge of the project straight lie to me over the phone. The workers were blasting music, they are always yelling, and are rude. Complained to the office, the girl came out and laughed about the complaint. Guess she did t know I was listening through the door. Don't waste your money here. I have live in other apartment complexes that are way more considerate.

I love this property, great location, great units and friendly staff all around. This is my second time living here. I deployed and came back here as soon as they had availability. I've read some of the reviews and even though some of them may be valid I truly do know that the staff will do everything that they can to help with any reasonable request. The front office staff is friendly, professional and will do anything to cater to your needs. The units have been updated and in my opinion is well worth it. Can't beat the quality of professionalism here. Thank you to Jenny, Callie, Oliva and JB for all you've done.

The neighborhood is beautiful, the landscape is kept up well. Town Center is a 30 minute walk/5 minute drive away. The school district is amazing. The tennis courts, pool and playground are awesome. This was my first apartment and I moved in with a 2 month old baby as a young single mom 2 years ago. The apartment I moved into was beautiful, spacious and updated with nice appliances. It looked brand new. You could hear the upstairs neighbors pretty well, but I don't think it was anything abnormal. I did not plan on moving out until I eventually bought a house, but I moved out in October because I basically had no choice. Maintenance was great with little things like fixing a closet door that was off the hinge. That was the only thing they successfully fixed in the 2 years I lived there. The ceiling lamp in the dining room stopped working a month after I moved in, it was clearly due to some more serious electrical problems. After having it "fixed" and stop working again a day later, I stopped calling. The laminate floor was coming up in one spot when I first moved in, and after about 3 different work orders to have it fixed (including my original tour guide saying she would make sure it got fixed), I just gave up. I lived in an apartment with a hallway and a doorway that was hidden from outside view and right next to my door was a maintenance closet. When I moved in we were told it would be kept locked. It was never locked. At some point someone had actually ripped the handle off, and it was always visibly cracked open. It was unnerving. Yes, I told the maintenance worker in person about the issue. He assured me it would be kept locked. It wasn't. Lastly, a sizable hole showed up in my kitchen ceiling at some point during the remodel of the upstairs apartment. Of course, a work order was put in, and forgot about. As for safety concerns, in general things were okay. Like I said, someone had ripped off the handle to the maintenance closet that was right next to my front door (Hidden from sight.) When I moved in, the screen to one of my windows was missing, and took about a year to get replaced. A window of my car was busted out in October of 2014 along with 2 or 3 other cars. My purse was stolen, and a neighbors phone was stolen. Lastly, I was sitting in my car waiting for a friend (lived in the same complex) and a woman I did not know opened the door to my car and sat in my back seat, and asked me "Where is my money?" After panicking and running out of my car, my friend and I eventually got her out of the car. She appeared to be using drugs or alcohol. Heavily. Biggest problem of all, DO NOT move into a bottom floor apartment. Why did I end up having to move? After living there for about 1.5 years, the house started to flood every time it rained more than an inch. I'm not saying there were puddles, but the carpet would be soaked. My daughters toys were moldy, the whole house smelled like mildew, and any wooden furniture started to mold as well. The laminate in the center of the house had large water spots as well, that I'm assuming was from water coming up from the ground. Every time it happened they would bring in these giant carpet dryers (which made it impossible to live in if you have any kind of allergies) and that was it. It became apparent that they weren't going to do anything to fix the source of the problem, likely because it would cost too much. I sadly moved out, because for health and logical reasons, I couldn't continue to live in a place that was flooding monthly and ruining my furniture/kids toys. After looking at the outside, my father (who is a licensed civil engineer) and I discovered someone had covered up the weep holes (holes that are put into brick buildings to properly drain water) had been covered and sealed with concrete. This was the case with many of their buildings. I hesitated on writing a review, because I figured the place gave me a break. I'll admit I got confused about my move out date, and ended up leaving the place messy, needing paint and new carpets (of course the carpets would have needed to be replaced regardless due to the mold from flooding.) As well as some stuff to be discarded. However, nothing was broken or missing, and I don't see how paint, new carpets (that were molding outside of my control), and some trash removal totaled to $1022.18. They also sent it straight to a collection agency instead of just sending me a bill. I have a feeling I was billed for the laminate that was never fixed, as well as the carpets, probably molding that was all along the trim of the bedrooms due to water damage, and the hole in the ceiling that mysteriously appeared during the remodel of the upstairs apartment. I should have documented my complaints better, but I was young and trusted the office staff. I'm still so saddened by what happened.

When is it okay to threaten a tenant that has been complaining about the upstairs disturbance since she has been here... My neighbors being loud as hell, because the landscape is supposedly old. But my music being played at a LOW volume doesn't receive the same explanation. Two tenants above me able to move to a new unit . But I was never offered the same option. A disabled veteran with two kids, that don't bother anyone and stays to her self is being threatened because the manager plays favoritism. In addition last month I was threatened by another tenant in a violent manner and even made a police report and notified the office immediately. Callie did nothing at all. Then the same tenants daughter stole my package off the doorstep i spoke to the maintenance man Jim, since I decided to call them because I know they have on call responses just in case of an "emergency" still no feedback from Callie (property manager) these tenants are still tenants. Is my safety not important? Last night I was awakened out of my sleep at 1225pm to a barking dog, stomping, cabinets being slammed and then my toddler ran out of her room because of her being a witness to her father abusing me she doesn't react well to loud bangs. At this point I'm pissed off why because its past midnight, two my toddler is awake and I am now unable to sleep because I am a wartime veteran with PTSD and Anxiety, etc... I hit my ceiling to get their attention that hey someone lives here, just like the first week they was there which was last week they were hammering pictures on the wall at 1030p at night, I knocked on their door and politely asked them to please stop because Its disturbing my home. Now that's two complaints right? Shouldnt a noise complaint be tacked on their door? But nope since their new they are good and my household is the culprits even though I am the one complaining. Mgr sent 10-20-16: Good Morning Shontaine, I am out of the office today; however, my leasing staff forwarded your concern to me. I was in the office when my employee addressed the concern about the dog and the noise with the new residents, and at no time, NO time, was it mentioned that you were the complainant. As you have been previously told, we do not disclose who makes complaints. Residents can and will, at times, try to discern who might have voiced a complaint; that happens. But, it did not come from my office. You have not been asked to attend a meeting at this time, as it was only mentioned to the new residents a day ago. I will not be available until Monday to meet with everyone, so I asked my staff to send out an invite to you by the end of this week. We value all of our residents, as evidence by the fact that we are allowing you to break a lease without penalty. You receive courteous and professional responses and assistance each time you come to or call this office, and you will continue to do so. As stated in your response, you do not have to attend a meeting, but we have also received noise complaints on multiple occasions coming from your apartment, and this is something that has been witnessed as well by my own staff who have responded to your building. The base in the surround sound has been addressed with you, and it continues to be an issue with other residents close to you. Thalia Gardens is almost 50 years old and the buildings are not perfect; however, the sound barriers are not much different than another apartment community. You will from time to time hear your neighbors. The floors above you have also been repaired, extensively. At this time, I will have the office issue another notice of noise complaint to you, and if I receive another report of banging on the ceiling to get the attention of the residents above you, I will issue another one that will start the eviction proceeding. If residents are walking and living and making noise, it is not their intention to disturb those below them; however, intentionally beating on the ceiling is not acceptable, but rather it is provoking. Thank you for your concern. Sincerely, Callie Johnson

My boyfriend and I recently moved in. The apartments are spacious and clean. We haven't had any issues. Our leasing agent, Jennifer, went above and beyond for us. She has a welcoming personality and made the process quick and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend seeing her on the weekends if you're looking for a new home. We had no intention on applying for any apartments at the time that we did, but after seeing these apartments and getting excellent customer service we decided to apply the same day! Jennifer played a huge role in that decision!

Where do I begin? This place is the most horrible place I've ever lived. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If you live on the first floor prepare to be up all night because you can hear every conversation and there is someone constantly walking over top of you 24/7. It almost seems like they are about to come through the ceiling. There is always something that needs to be fixed i.e. ceiling leaking, dish washer broken doors won't close all of the way etc. We had a mouse problem and it are through my wife's purse. There are also big water bugs that look like super roaches. My wife and I bring our problems to the people in the office but nothing his ever resolved. If I could give this place a negative rating I would def do so. No one is considerate here at all!!! Please be cautions when coming here because it's just a scam.

I have enjoyed my stay at Thalia Gardens, because of my job, I have to relocate, like any apartment complex you live at there are the good and bad, the good did out weigh the bad, I could hear my neighbors running up and down the stairs late at night, the hallways were not kept clean, dog poop is everywhere, I would suggest a dog park in the future and a ball park or basket ball park for the kids to play. The good I saved for last, the office staff that I have communicated with mostly were JB and Callie, thank you ladies for making my experience at Thalia an enjoyable one, Maintenance were wonderful no complaints what so ever.

Had a 18 month lease with Thalia. All in all a good experience no complaints. Apartments are spacious, full size washer and dryer and nice appliances. Buildings I must admit seem kinda old but when you walk into the apartment very modern and up to date. I really like the giveaways they have definitely keeps the community involved. Maintenance staff and Gary are quick with responding to request. Office staff can't really speak on as the only person that's has been there the whole time is Jennifer and she is very friendly and knows her residents. The other staff not to familiar with however I'm sure they are nice. I'd stay however I need a 2 bedroom closer to Chesapeake.

Thalia Gardens is a great place to live. Centrally located, so you can get to most places in 15 minutes. I had an issue with my apartment, at first I wasn't sure Thalia management was going to make it right. However, Callie and her amazing maintenance team took great care to make sure we were taken care of and happy.

I have been here for about 8 months and have no complaints! Jennifer and the staff at the leasing office were very helpful in the leasing process. The apartment itself has been great. It is very spacious and you are not going to find a place comparable in price for all of this space. There have been no bugs or issues in the apartment complex. Anytime I have a maintenance request I've had it fixed that same day. I love being here because I feel safe and the price is great.

Searching for apartments has proven to be difficult, but the Thalia Gardens staff has been extremely helpful. The entire process has gone very smoothly; from viewing the model, to putting the deposit down to secure the apartment, to going over the lease information. Callie was a huge help, very friendly and knowledgeable about the apartment and the pricing (which is a great deal considering how spacious the apartment is). I appreciate being treated like a priority, I look forward to moving in!

I came into Thalia Gardens this month wanting to get some information on a one bedroom apartment with a den for my young son and myself. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted immediately by Tori who asked what she could do to help me. I told her I wanted to inquire about the one bedroom with a den and that I possibly wanted to see if I could qualify for an apartment here. She was in the middle of working with someone else so she asked the property manager, Callie if she could assist me at the time. Callie brought me back into her office and asked me all of the necessary information to see if I would qualify for the particular apartment that I needed. She was extremely helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable and was able to answer every question that I had. I ended up qualifying for the apartment that I wanted and it happened that one was becoming available in the next few weeks so I went ahead and put my application in right then and there. I felt so welcomed and the staff was so wonderful as soon as I walked in that it made me feel right at home from the first steps I took through the door. Thank you so much Callie & Tori for your help. It was truly a pleasure to have worked with you both and your customer service was phenomenal! I look forward to becoming a resident of Thalia Gardens this month!

I moved into this complex in the spring/summer time and haven't had anything bad to say until NOW winter time. My neighbor and I both have been having an issue with rodents (mice/rats) she has an infant and her baby's bottle went underneath the bed only for her to pull it up with half the nipple ripped off m with teeth marks of the rat. In my apartment one literally came from behind the stove as I was getting ready to prepare breakfast. I've asked several times can all entry points be closed off and rodent/pest control be contact, however only traps have been placed in both our apartments. I have a toddler and she puts everything in her mouth, just to think she's put something in her mouth these nasty rodents have ran across, yet they still want rent heck these rodents should be paying to or a discount or something until they can resolve this reoccurring issue. I'm sure there are more apartments with this issue because I was told they've ran out of traps n bait! If you're thinking about moving over here I'd say move upstairs or maybe in a townhome because the doorstairs apartments are not a good look in the winter time.

Thalia Gardens Apartments & Townhouses advertises itself as pet friendly. It also advertises a pet park available for dogs, unfortunately, falsely: there is none. Until recently, there did not seem to be an issue in allowing several dogs, among them my Service dog, to play in one of the ample courtyards. This is a serious matter for me because having a play area for my dog right where I live is not only a matter of convenience, but virtually of necessity. Yesterday, most unexpectedly several tenants whose dogs play regularly together, were informed we no longer could do so. The Office had received phone calls and emails complaining because our dogs were not on leash when playing and some of these callers were afraid of dogs, afraid that the dogs might jump on them or children. While I can appreciate these concerns, if someone is afraid of dogs for any reason, they ought to consider whether it really is wise to move to a pet-friendly complex. As might be guessed, I am very much upset because a great group of 5 dogs -- and equally great owners! -- no longer can play in a deserted courtyard in place of an advertised but non-existent dog park. After having lived here for five years, I now find myself looking for a place where my dog will be as welcome as I, as proven by a designated play park.

*****UPDATE**** I've lived here at Thalia for about 6 months now, and im so happy I chose to move here. I was definitely nervous about what I would experience moving into my first apartment, but now this place is home. The apartment was newly renovated when I moved in, the office staff is always friendly and cheerful (they all greet me by name when I walk in), my maintenance requests never take more than a day or two to be addressed, and the grounds are always clean and well kept. I absolutely plan to renew my lease! Keep it up Thalia! You guys are killing it! I looked at several apartment communities in the past 2 months looking to lease my first apartment, and it was the friendliness and help of the staff (Tori and Callie) that made me choose Thalia Gardens. The rent price is pretty awesome for the area, especially considering they include water (I was also happy to hear that each unit has its own washer and dryer). The floor plans are big, and you can tell the kitchens have been updated recently. I took at least 3 tours before making my final decision, and each time I went into the office, they were happy to see me and willing to take me on YET ANOTHER tour (I'm sure I had to be starting to drive them crazy haha). Thank you for the great customer service. I'm looking forward to moving into my apartment in February! Can't wait!!

Pros: Thalia staff are professional but get to know you by name. Maintenance is always quick--we have never had a maintenance issue that they haven't come to try to fix outstanding for more than 48 hours--they often come the next day. The grounds are being landscaped regularly and the pool always appears and smells clean during the summer. Street and building lights are bright at night, so I suggest hanging blackout curtains over your blinds, but the light is great for safety outside. Building entrances and lobbies are well-lit, as are most sidewalks and most parking areas at night. Being able to pay our rent online is a nice feature we use, and we also use auto-pay which is nice because we pay our rent in two halves (each paycheck) prior to the upcoming month. Water and sewer is included here, you just pay for the cost of the gas required to heat the water. Very pet-friendly community (lots of grass and walkways, pet waste trash stations, dog park nearby at next complex over) Good for families (nice playground, pool in the summer, large grassy areas for play) Good for singles (well-lit at night, quick responses to maintenance, generally safe community) Good for couples (floor isn't overly thin and in general normal noise doesn't penetrate, master bath attached to the bedroom of some apartments, walkways for walking or jogging together and gym) Cons: Parking can sometimes be limited because no matter how many bedrooms you rent, you are only allowed one reserved parking spot. You can park in any of the unmarked spots or on the side roads, but I often have to park further away from my apartment than I would like. We had trouble at first with the automatic rent payment online and getting it set up properly. The "pro" here is that staff were very understanding and didn't charge us late fees and tried to help us figure out the system. We got the hang of it after 3-4 months. Master baths are nice to have but very tiny and almost no storage or counter space (just a sink vanity) Kitchens that are updated look very nice but there are blank walls that could have been used to add more storage and counter space, which we need In the mornings, hot water for showers takes a solid 10 minutes running before it gets warm Overall: I would recommend this complex to a friend, and would choose to live here again. We have great neighbors in our building, and I will probably renew my lease at the end of its term next year.

I apartment searched for forever and nothing else compared. I have lived in a one BR for 7 months so far and love it. I am in a quiet section. I can only hear my neighbors when I am in the entry way (the front door lets a lot of noises through). but when I am in my apartment, I can only hear light footsteps from the apartment above me. The light switches in my living room and bedroom do not work which can be annoying. I lust have to manually turn them on. I usually no not have a problem for finding a parking lot unless its a holiday. The staff is nice. I would recommend this complex. I wish I could afford the 2BR because I am running out of closet space, but am happy regardless.

We just renewed our lease for another 18 months. We have a large dog and the first time we were apartment hunting it seemed as if we would have to let our elderly dog go but then we found Thalia Gardens. All summer we have really enjoyed the pool. They have a lifeguard and outside showers so we went nearly every week. There are pet waste stations throughout the grounds as well as an employee who comes around daily so the lawns stay nice and clean. We noticed our A/C was sluggish so I called the office. Within twenty minutes there was a person at my door who was able to tackle the problem. When a toilet backed up they also came right away. Other than those two issues and a cabinet drawer that broke off the track we never needed to call anyone. I was shocked when I opened our heating bill. I expected it to be high since the winter was so unusually cold and snowy but it was less than twenty dollars each month! We are located near Town Center so we can either shop, eat out, see a concert, worship, bank, see a movie or visit the vet within a five minute drive. We have a two bedroom, two bath and it is very roomy. The floor plan flows so that my wheelchair can easily go from room to room. My advice is to make sure to call Angela or Tori for a chance to see a unit for yourself. Good luck and happy hunting!

Just moved in a few weeks ago, and so far everything is awesome. Front office is super nice and maintenance is pretty fast, if you call them with a problem they are on it. Lawn Maintenance could be better. Grass is way too long all the time. Needs to be cut shorter when maintenanced.
