Denise Perry. Have lived here for a year and I am very happy. The business office personnel are knowledgeable and helpful. Also, I am greatly impressed by the Maintenance Crew. These guys always take care of problems quickly and they are very courteous - Even when I had to call them on the 4th of July regarding my air conditioning. You will be well taken care of at Thalia.

After looking at several apartment communities within Virginia Beach I decided on Thalia Gardens because of the helpfulness of he ladies in the office, the cleanliness of the property and the amenities they offer. I have now lived here for 5 months and couldn't be happier that I made the right choice. I especially want to give their maintenance department a big huge kudos. They are very friendly, timely, and have gone above and beyond more than once. Thanks to all of you! My neighbor has lived here for 13 years and has said that SHE LOVES IT HERE. I believe I finally did good.

Love it here. Been a resident for a year and really like the community and location. Office staff is really nice and always professional. Pool and tennis courts are nice. A lot is included in the rent so you get a great deal for your money.

I love the floor plan not to open. The staff is very friendly. The gym is ok but could use some updated equipment. Pool is very nice with grills.

I have lived here for 20 plus years - the apartments are large -brick construction - this is centrally located to Town Center, shopping , libraries, anything you could want is close by. Maintenance is usually prompt in responding when called

Back in 2010 I relocated from Norfolk to Virginia Beach. Although I was frustrated with renting, my goal was to purchase a home after living in the beach for a year. Being a single father with two sons made my choice of living all the more frustrating. I had to consider finding a place not only for me, but most importantly, for my children. I wanted the best school district, a premier nearby hospital, easy interstate access and nearby family entertainment. Trust me!! every loving parent wants the best for their children. Once I came across Thalia Gardens; I was in Awe!!! I found a 4 bedroom townhouse with everything I so desired. It wasn't just the surrounding amenities that seduced me; it was the Thalia Gardens complex itself. Roomy apartments, contemporary styling and floor plan. Many people say, "always put your best foot forward first" let me say that Thalia Gardens puts their best foot forward Everyday. Cleanliness, the up keeping of the grounds, Maintenance and last but certainly not least, the front office staff. I was supposed to have purchased a home four years ago. I'm still here!!!! Not because I have to be here, but because I want to be here!! I love it Y'all!!!

At first I really liked this place. Now I absolutely hate it. The management is not willing to work with anyone they are very money hungry. Second whoever does the lawn upkeep should be fired they basically hack your yard till there's nothing left. Maintenance is a complete joke. The guys are nice yes but the problems are never fixed. I've been living in my town home for three weeks with no air conditioning. It is currently 103 outside and my house is currently at 93 degrees. They have come out four times and still have not fixed the freon leak. Yes it's a great location but definitely not worth your money! Oh and not to mention all the police calls and shooting that occur here.

It was great when we moved here. Wonderful wonderful office staff and maintenance. Well, some ----- lady has taken over the office and ------ has become stuck up her butt and they're all rude ----- now. They have cut everyone's bushes down without warning. It was the o my privacy anyone had. We've had ongoing problems that has been over a week now without being tended to and they're big problems. Not real sure what is going on but the office has turned to ---- while the awesome people no longer are here. Spiders and silverfish are another ongoing problem. It takes maintenance days and days to fix anything. The girls in the office have become so rude and uncaring for the tenants here, it's ridiculous. Don't come here!!!!!!!

I'll make this review as honest as possible. Lived here for 2 years on the second floor Noise: Noise issues can be pretty bad. Each apartment is housed inside a building and shares a main foyer area, meaning that you can and will hear your neighbors each time they leave or enter their apartment. The doors automatically slam shut unless manually closed which can generate a very loud noise radiating throughout the building. You can also clearly hear people inside their apartment if they're having a loud conversation or party. I was able to hear my neighbors TV from the living room. Maintenance: No real complaints, but nothing special. They will fix most issues but do not expect them to go the extra mile. Safety: The area can be quite iffy as far as safety is concerned, definitely not the safest in the city but also not the worst. The most serious crime that occurred during my stay was an attempted rape a street away from where I lived. Crime does occur here and especially around the surrounding neighborhoods. Location: The location is excellent, a couple minutes from town center and Loehmann's plaza. Supermarkets and many fine restaurants at a walking distance is very nice. Amenities: The apartments are very out dated, some do have updated appliances, mine did not. You will need to purchase your own microwave. No real complains here except the dryer which required multiple cycles before clothes were actually dry. Laundry was sometimes an all day task. Overall: I must say that I did enjoy my time living here. My girlfriend and I rented a 1 bedroom 1 bath which included a den that I turned into an office. The rent price was pretty reasonable considering the space we had and the area location. The apartment over time gave me a pretty decent "homey" vibe. I have since moved to an upscale new build apartment complex and am paying more in rent. After dealing with the stresses of living in a new build "luxury" apartment complex, I can safely say that given the choice, I would have never left Thalia and just stayed until my girlfriend and I purchased a house. Given the price and location, there really is no reason to look for anything more upscale.

I've lived here for three years, its very quiet. Maintenence is a little slow but no real problems with them. The only real concern I have is that they don't enforce dog walking laws. My children can no longer play in the grass because of excessive dog waste. I have reported this this to the office many times but nothing has been done to improve the situation.

Where do I begin...I moved here back in December with my husband who is stationed here and was already living there previously before I moved in. Being on the first floor is terrible, you can hear the people above us walking at all times of the day and night and the floor creaking which is super annoying. Next, if you think your moving to a nice area, forget it. This place is ------, simple as that. I can't go outside without being looked at the wrong way not to mention, children walking the streets screaming and cursing who are probably only in elementary school. I have to go to mount trashmore to take my dogs for a nice walk because that's how terrified I am Of walking around the area. Next, everything in the apartment is falling apart, the paint has been chipping off the walls for months, the fake floor is coming undone, the dryer takes about 3 hours to dry your clothes if not longer. The walls are filthy, definitely weren't cleaned nor painted well at all. The only thing I like about this place is that there is a decent amount or room, other then that can't wait to be out of there next month.

I have lived at Thalia Gardens since July of 2014. Initially, I thought it was a typical apartment complex. I place where the owners were only concerned with receiving their monies and not fixing anything. I complained about my reserved parking space not having a decal for three months. As a direct result people would often park in my space even though all of the other spaces had reserved markers directly in front of the entrances. I wrote management over and over again and their response was they were waiting for the contractor to come and due the entire parking space. This didn't set well with me because the other parking space decals were fine and those people weren't complaining. Then one day I came home after two months and indeed all of the parking spaces were completely redone. Additionally, they even replaced sidewalks with new concrete. I was astonished at all of the work. It typically takes the maintenance company a few days to get around to completing work orders whenever there is a problem, but I've learned to contact them early and wait it out. It's a big complex so imagine they have a lot of things going on. You always see the maintenance company moving around and doing a lot of things. Also, the apartment complex through a pool party to commence the summer. I thought it really brought together the small community of leasers. Whenever, I speak to the managing agents they always make me feel at home. They truly appear to enjoy their job and I think that makes it and enjoyable environment. One of the other issues that I did however have was when the maintenance company did come out to fix things in my apartment on two occasions they left my door unlock while I was not at the location. This was a HUGE issue, but I've spoken with the management company and they have assured me that this type of practice is normal nor will it be tolerated. So I trust that it won't happen again.

Before I moved in I was promised new appliances and to have my kitchen upgraded like the rest of the units. We even had to move in two weeks late so they could do the work. Well its been since July and I still don't have any of those things. Maintenance is my only true complaint. You have them put in an order for you and sometimes the maintenance guys with just sign it off saying they did it. The only time I've actually gotten something done was when I went to the office and refused to leave until they went over there and fixed the problem. Maintenance is supposed to change air filters but so far they have done it once. I end up buying my own. I hope they read these reviews because everyones complaint seems to be the same. GET A NEW MAINTENANCE TEAM OR MORE STAFF!!!

I have been living here for almost two years, the staff here have been really nice since day one, from people in the front office to maintenance, Jim the supervisor is just great, he is always willing to help me when I need something in a very professional way. I trust him in my apartment alone as well Rafael. These 2 are always going out of their way to help and make sure everything is good. This property is located in a great area, close to the highway and the Pembroke shopping centers as well as Town Center, I cannot complain at all.

Problems, Problems, Problems since day one... Leaks, closet doors falling, sewer backups - including neighbors sewer stuff in to your apartment, noise....ohhh the noise..... living on a first door on this complex is a bad idea...You'd think the second floor tenant at some point is going to fall down to your apartment. Cracked sidewalks , dirty hallways... Don't get fooled by the nice looking demo unit it's all a cover, everything underneath the cover it's falling apart..

I have been looking for an apartment for a couple months now and decided to come and physically check out Thalia Gardens. I met with JB who is an extremely nice woman. She was very welcoming and was even able to show me around the same day I came (with no appointment). JB was not only very welcoming, courteous and willing to help, but she was very knowledgeable about the property and the surrounding area. I was sold from the day I spoke with JB. Since it will be my first apartment, I came back the following week (unannounced again) with my mother who I knew would ask questions I wouldn't think to ask. JB was just as welcoming and friendly as she was when I saw her the first time. SHE EVEN REMEMBERED MY NAME! (Very impressive because I didn't submit any paperwork to her at all on my first visit). JB showed my mother and I around the property that day and of course my mother asked some very good questions about the property and surrounding area that I would've never thought to ask. JB was ready to answer all my mother's questions and seemed very happy to be spending her time with us. My mother's reaction was just like mine, SOLD! I sat down with JB to submit my application and was approved in 5 minutes! Overall I am very impressed with the high level of customer service and the property. I am moving in in a little over 30 days and I sometimes ride past at night just to check out the neighborhood as a whole and I haven't seen anything that would make me regret my decision. I am so happy I chose Thalia Gardens and I elated I got to make my decision by working with JB. I am really anticipating moving in and working with JB and the rest of the staff (if they're as wonderful as she is!) in the future. So if you're reading this, understand that from the excellent customers service, to the spacious layouts to the very competitive rates and amenities, THALIA GARDENS is one of the best choices!

Thalia Gardens never cleans the halls that you must walk through to get to your apartment. So the halls are full of leaves, dead bugs and random crap. It is truly embarrassing if you have company. Also, don't call maintenance to fix anything. For one, they will not fix it right and you will find yourself at Home Depot using your own hard-earned money to fix it right. And two, the maintenance guys track dirt all throughout your apartment and just leave it there. Your carpets are visibly caked with dirt after they leave.

Okay, I am convinced that these reviews are DEFINITELY being written by management or by someone who is paid to keep putting lies on this website. This explains how Thalia Gardens got their 70 rating, by constantly writing reviews that are completely untrue. Maintenance here is HORRIBLE. They do crappy work and they are slow (a week or more) to fix regular maintenance issues. Then they leave your carpets caked with dirt, and you still have to call them back AGAIN to fix it correctly. If you are standing in your apartment, you can hear the ENTIRE conversation of the people in the hall and the people outside (including car alarms and the drunken people cursing and fighting on the weekends). Not to mention the fact that your apartment cannot hold the RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE heat that Thalia Gardens makes you pay for, because the windows will not close tightly and therefore lets all of the heat out. Music is often blaring loudly from somewhere. This is like living in the ------! In fact, the ------ is probably better because you will then, at least, expect your neighbors to be crappy! Any person who enjoys living here has very low standards. Trust me, if you have any decency at all, DO NOT MOVE HERE. The well-kept grounds will fool you if you are not careful. BE FOREWARNED!!!

We moved into Thalia Garden in January 2014 and had nothing but issues with this place. The noisy neighbors and the paper thin walls and floors was bad but that wasn't even the start. It started with the unit not being ready for us to move in, so we had to allow maintenance in for several days to complete their jobs. Then we had issues with the drainage and constantly had sewage draining into our tub and shower. They would come in, make a mess, and bubble gum things together. We placed several work orders in just to have them closed out as being completed and we never even got a visit. We had another backup that completely soaked the carpet with sewage. In was bad enough with the constant backups, roaches and moldy, mildew smell, but they never once offered to move us to another unit or offer any kind of discount or reduction in rent due to our inconvenience. We were stuck having to deal with an overpriced, substandard unit. and the daily visits from maintenance to fix things. The only reason they are getting such a high rating from me is because I cant give no stars.
