Management is terrible!!!
We have been at South Mountain for about 9 months and the management there has been horific to say the least. The maintenance department takes forever to fix anything that breaks in your apartment. The complex towed our car without proper notification that they were repaving the entire complex. When we demanded to be reinbursed the money it cost us to get our car back we were told that flyers were taped up on every garage and every pole where covered parking was located throughout the complex. The problem in our case which we clearly expressed to them was we had neither of those but in fact parked in uncovered parking areas directly in front or our apartment. Needless to say they refused to reinburse us for the towing of our car. Unfreaken believable. You pay rent and they tow your car away without proper notification. We broke our lease immediately and went somewhere else where they take care of their customers instead of exploiting them. Please trust me on this DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CLOWNS. They let us break our lease instead of reinbursing us the $75 for towing our car without proper notification. What kind of circus is this? Absoulutely no customer service whatsoever.

Crime, like everyone else said, is a problem
I'm renting a garage and my garage/car got broken into. door was not forced open, which i'm guessing was broken into b/c pretty much every remote in that place can open a dozen other doors... <br><br>the 'security' guy is a tool that writes parking notices to cars with flat tires, but never enforces any of them. there are two abandoned cars in the parking area next to my building sitting there for over 2 months.<br><br>the management is horrible. being forced to resign a lease for over 1 year, no 6mo contract, while jacking up the rates over 10% of the previous contract. this is the only apartment complex that punishes you for staying there longer that i've met so far

So So... but way too expensive.
Like many of the other reviews about this apartment. I have to agree. The apartments them selves are nice but you can NEVER find a parking spot to park to get into your home. You end up driving around for an hour waiting for someone to leave before you can grab a spot. The gate did not work ONCE while I was living there. They gave me a gate card when I first moved in which didn't even work becasue it wasn't registered. but then wheni got one that was supposed to work, the gates were broken and I was promised that someone would be coming out the following week to fix them but when i moved out, the gates still didn't work.

Adequate apartment
We've lived at Pinnacle for about a year. We've experienced more positives than negatives. Security is probably our biggest complaint. No one patrols the parking lots. Someone smashed out the window of my fiance's SUV last night and stole everything inside. <br><br>The apartments themselves are pretty nice. Our 3 bedroom is very roomy and having a garage is nice. The pools are pretty well kept. Our neighbors are very quiet and our maintenance reports have been answered in a timely manner for the most part. You really have to keep on the office staff if you need something from them.<br><br>I would recommend this apartment.

Don't listen to the nay-sayers
Let's face it, 90% of the residents who come to the this site and make a review are the disgruntled minority looking for thier pound of flesh. Pinnacle at South Mountain is hands down, the best apartment complex within 15 miles of here. I have lived in PHX for 30 years and know...<br><br>I will say this though, maintanence issues are a big problem here. They are very incompetent that way. The staff in the office are nice and accomidating when you bring an issue to thier attention, but it's like there is a major breakdown in communication between them and the maintenance people. Either that or nobody actually cares and they are sitting down there, laughing whenever someone calls.<br><br>Seriously though, this place exceeds all others I have seen in the area. From the little details in the architecture to the Roman bath tubs to the garages to the little TVs in the kitchen, this place is great. Don't let some negative person let you believe otherwise.

Apartment Lost My Rent $!!!!!
I lived in a 3 bedroom tonhouse in the back, and it was great when we first moved in! We loved it! After about 3 months of living there, stuff started to break on us! The light in kitchen, our washer and dryer. We reported our washer being broken on a monday they did not come out and fix it until the following week!! Managememnt is terrible! They lost our rent money and would not work anything out for us. Said they had no proof of us giving it to them so we had to come up with that money twice or we were going to get kicked out<br>!!!!! This place sucks!!!!

Wonderful Apartments
Although the nearby neighborhoods can be daunting, I have loved living here. The amenities are great and the floorplans are nice. Parking can be a problem. I have lived here for 2 years and love it.

Nice Luxurious Apartments
I don't know what anyone is talking about, there is always parking when I come home after 6:00pm. Living next to the freeway isn't bad. You can't really hear the freeway noise until you open your doors or windows. I haven't seen anything negative thus far. You pay for what you get. I guess you would know about the ------ you you came from one...... Go back because if there's any problems all you complainers must be causing them....Try being positive & patient you'll get a better outcome. We are not living in duplex's, you people knew ypu were moving into a huge complex so learn to wait and you will receive. I love the apartments

Great location!
Lovely apartments. I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. Maybe they just had one bad expirence and blew it out of proportion! The place is beautiful and quiet. I'm very happy I moved to this property. The staff is friendly and outgoing. Very fun to be around when you go down there to pick up a package or just walk through on your way to the fitness room.

Great location, feels like a home
I've lived here 16 months, and I really have no idea what half the other posters are talking about. I don't remember a single notice about crime, other than the one about the incident on the news last spring. There is a heavy minority population and lots of kids, so if that bothers you, then look elsewhere. The staff is just like that at any other large apartment complex that has to deal with a corporate owner - they have 500 units to deal with, and they don't always have authority to fix your problem right then. I've stopped being annoyed with this because I've had the same problem at the last four complexes I've lived in - it's by far better than the ever-changing morons at my last place. At least this place is actually open when I'm not at work and they take packages for you.<br><br>I will agree that there does not seem to be any parking near the front of the complex, and the hottubs seem to always be broken.<br><br>The best parts of this place are the units and the location. We live in the 2 bdrm townhome, which has a garage and big closets and feels enough like a home that we don't pine for a house that we can't afford yet. The location is far enough north to avoid most of the Ahwatukee traffic if you commute downtown, yet you're 5 minutes from any shop or restaurant you need. You can walk to South Mountain to hike. I looked at probably 20 places in the southeast valley before moving, and this was by far the best combination of layout and neighborhood. If the staff is more important to you, then more power to you, but they really don't impact my life nearly so much.<br><br>

For the South Mountain area you get what you pay for
I have lived at PSM for 10 months. I personally have not had any REAL problems. However I am aware that the crime rate is not the best, but we do live beside Guadalupe (which by the way is NOT the worst part of Phoenix). As for the parking issue I have not noticed that there is not any parking. They do assign spots that are not exactly close to your apartment, but if you talk to your neighbors you may find that they are willing to switch you spots making you parking spot alot closer.<br><br>As for the management and leasing staff-- I have never personally had any dealing with the manager, but i find it a bit sad that she wrote a glowing sales pitch. The leasing staff on the other hand are very young and act very young. You have to hound them constantly for answers on anything. <br><br>I personally will be willing to stay in this area due to the actual apartment is worth the rent. For the size and crown molding and having a washer & dryer in unit you can't pay any better price, that is so long they don't raise the price when i go to renew my lease.

Can't wait to move OUT
When we first moved in, I really liked the place. Floor plan was pretty unigue, easy to find parking, grounds kept clean, etc... Now that we're 6 months in, I can't wait to leave. Parking is now NONEXISTENT. If you get in anytime after 6PM, good luck finding anyplace to park that's in a semi well lit area. You won't. (Most of the bulbs in the lot don't work anyway.) Every week there's another car theft right outside our apartment, and they do nothing about it. One car comes in through the gate, and 5 more follow it. Even people that don't have a card key or the code just pull over to the side and wait for someone else to open the gate and follow them in. Security is a total joke here.<br><br>The apartment itself is decent, but you really pay a lot for being so unsafe. The only real complaint I have about the apartment itself is the kitchen sink. The distance between the faucet and the deepest part of the sink is only 7.5 inches. You can't fit anything in there to wash it.<br><br>The complex itself is really nice, it's too bad they can't keep it that way. If they could somehow improve the security and parking situations, I would really enjoy it here. As it is now, I can't wait to get out.

Unsafe!
-Very deceptive. High crime. Looks nice but is right across the highway from one of the worst areas of Phoenix. Is supposed to be a gated community but the gates don't work half the time, and there is zero control over who gets in or out. Have had two cars broken into in the last few months. Get a notice every week about an assult, robbery, or rape. Managers refuse to hire any security firms to patrol. Organizing a neighborhood watch was the only solution offered. Will be leaving.

management staff are idiots
the apartment is nice, our maintenance was fixed on time and we've never had problems with neighbors. however, the hot tub at the front office has been broken (not heated at all, i think the pool was probably warmer) almost the whole time i've lived here (4 months). when they "fix" it, it works for a day, maybe. plus, if you live on the side that is not near the freeway, the parking is ridiculous, i may as well park in guadalupe. the leasing agents are all very helpful and friendly but the management staff, mainly cheryl,n are complete idiots. i think they really have no clue what it going on and they treat you as a nuisance rather than a resident.

Staff should be fired!
This place is ridiculous...granted I never had a problem with the townhouse itself, but the staff are a bunch of idiots! ESPECIALLY the "manager" that should never be too ashamed to become a Walmart greeter! She is awful! No clue what she is doing...<br>The rest of them are like zombies following her lead. Nothing else to say except DON'T live here if you are looking for a friendly staff that cares about their renters...live here if you are a hermit who would never leave your apartment.<br>

overall adequate service
The past year residing at PSM, I have encountered both positive and negative impressions on the staff, groundkeeping, safety, and maintenence. <br><br>Upon first moving in, I did a walk through with Cheryl and she said the carpet was unacceptable as well as the tiling. Even though I was suppose to move in that day, I kept all of my plans and PSM had to hire a moving crew to come move out my furniture, etc. while they laid the new carpeting/tile. This was done within 3 days of move-in. I also had an issue with my oven but after 4 requests, it finally was resolved. I was somewhat dissapointed in the length of time it took to get resolution. <br><br>Lastly, I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of notification for my lease. I actually approached them to see what my options were for renewal. They would only renew it for 12-15 months (no shorter leases). I ended up haveing to pay a month to month lease, giving my 30 day notice and moving. I have been a very good tenant but they were unwilling to work with me.

do NOT rent! unsafe!
I am a current resident planning to leave. In the past couple months they seem to have changed the standards of who they're renting to. Now, we seem to get a notice or "incident report" every week about a rape, theft, attempted theft, or other issue. I've had two card broken into since I've been here, and the only solution they've offered is for us to volunteer our own time and setup a neighborhood watch. What about having visible security??? <br><br>This place is going to lose every resident in the next round of lease renewals, all because they're too cheap to invest a little to ensure our safety.<br><br>The apartments are beautiful, but they nickel and dime you for everything. And anytime it rains we get huge swamplike ponds over the nice green areas.<br><br>Forget about the staff, there are plenty of other great reasons NOT to live here.

do not rent!
My expierence was horrible with this complex. We had everything set up to move in. We put our money up front to hold the apt. we wanted. About 2 weeks went by and we didnt hear anything from the apartment. So we had to call and they told us they didnt have the apartment we wanted. So we chose another apt. Natalie said she would call us if anything came available. We called about 2 weeks later and spoke with someone else who said they had what we were looking for. We then went in and gave our money for the application fees. About a week went by and my boyfriend got a VOICE MESSAGE saying that we cant move there because of a judgement, and then said if we had any questions just call. Very unprofessional. He had never had a judgement, so then they said we could move there. 2 1/2 weeks before our move in date Natalie called and left another voice message saying "oh im sorry you guys cant move in here, the manager found a judgement, if you have any questions just call" i called and spoke with the manager Amy she was rude, and argued with me. Come to find out my bf had the same judgement under the same circumstance (which wasnt a judgement and was dismissed) and they just realized it 2 weeks before our move in date and decide to call us. the staff is very rude and unprofessional. We are taking this to someone higher up and if this doesnt work we will take them to court. do not rent here! I can only imagine how they treat their tenants

Horrible Staff
I agree the majority of the rating for this complex. The staff is absolutly rude. My wife (working professionals) lived upstairs, but were always hassled by the office and police that we made to much noice walking around our apartment. Are you kidding (too much noice walking around). They even threatened to move me out of my apartment because of this. Incrediable. <br><br>Horrible staff, horrible horrible staff. If your a young professional looking to live in a nice community - DO NOT RENT HERE.

Nice apartments, bad everything else
TThe grounds and apartments are generally quite nice, featuring lovely pool areas, well equipped fitness centers, up-to-date video-rentals, roman baths in most every apartment, vaulted ceilings, crown molding and fire places. <br><br>Now for the down side. Certain areas in the complex are extremely noisy and heavily traveled (not worth the measly $20 off your rent). The grounds fluctuate between being well kept and a wreck. The pool, hot-tub and fitness centers are especially bad, being filthy for several weeks and then clean just long enough for you to forgive them before returning to being gross. The pools are NOT heated as they say and the hot-tubs only work about 60-75% of the time. Any of the nicer grassy areas are always littered with trash and/or dog poop which neither maintenance nor grounds keeping ever picks up.<br><br>The staff and maintenance leave much to be desired. Any time we have anything more complex than picking up a package it takes FOREVER and gets extremely confused. Often we get two or three versions about everything, including prices, lease terms, available units. Our paperwork is messed up every time—not kidding—every time we've renewed our lease they have messed up some portion of the paper work. The staff is generally quite unfriendly and the ones that are nice have no idea what they're talking about.<br><br>Maintenance is even worse. They are very slow in getting around to your apartment and have never completely solved any problem in our unit. The leaks still leak. The broken locks are badly repaired, the porch light still burns out every two or three DAYS. I have to repair the stuff myself every time or it never gets fixed.<br><br>

Horrible Maintenance
I have since moved out of Pinnacle at South Mountain and all the horror stories seem to be true. They are charging $175 for "carpet cleaning" based upon bogus charges. My animal NEVER urinated in the areas they are claiming and $175 is VERY excessive for a spot or two. I have had little to no luck with Aimee, the property manager, and Bonnie, the regoinal manager has been just as rude. I would NOT rent from BRE Properties again. There are much nicer apartments with much better staff and service.<br><br>The maintenance has been horrible. When I was signing my lease I brought in negative print outs from this site and was assured by the asst property mngr that they were untrue/not the norm. I now find that hard to believe. Half the items that were "repaired" from my walkin have gone back to how they were or worse...within 1 mon. My garage remote stopped working and it took about 3 weeks to get it repaired. The cable outlet in the bedroom does not work and it took them 1 1/2 months to "fix it". In doing so, they ran a coaxil cable under the carpet to a different location. I have complained three times within 2 months about not having my name on the gates to come in when they inform me it is because of an "issue" they have been having and the Jackie, the asst mngr, "didn't know about it". Not only do I find it hard to believe but he should know and they should have let me know a long time ago as well, if that's really the case. The office/maintenance staff is VERY lazy.

My thoughts...
My husband and I are currently residents at PSM going on 4 months and are quite happy with our choice. Yes it is true that you can hear your upstairs neighbors walking around, but that is true of most apartments. That is why you can choose to live either the 1st floor or the 2nd floor. Also from previous rental experience it is always best to look over your new home and to document anything that is wrong or damaged when you move in so that you are not charged, it's called CYA. So far it has been a pleasant experience, our noise complaint about our neighbor was resolved quite quickly and any maintenance issues have been resolved within 24 hours. The only downfall is the lack of parking for tenants and the occassionaly rude person that parks in your assigned spot, which unlike at our previous residence we are able to have towed and the people who think that is necessary to blast their car stereos when driving through the complex. Other than those two things I couldn't be happier with PSM and their Staff, especially Leah and Nicolle.
