Very Fun Place
It is a great location. I am very happy to bike everywhere. My family back in New York is quite jealous that I bike in December! There is so much to do in Tempe and here at the apartment complex. I moved with several friends and we live here. We have also met so many new people. Everyone I know is very happy here. We all use the amenities almost everyday. I love going in to use their computer cafe. For some reason I seem to study there better. :-) Katie

I had a great experience
I chose the apartments because I liked the location. I was pleasantly surprised. While it isn't a luxury apartment it was a nice layout and felt homey. I would recommend it.

Excellent place...The Fitness Room is great!
My roommate and I lived here for a couple of years. We loved all the amenities and the layout of our two bedroom apartment. It was nice because a lot of our friends live here too. There is so much to do here with the fitness center and we loved the basketball court. We had a lot of fun. We moved to another property with the company. We got the same bedroom layout but needed a laundry inside the apartment. Otherwise we would have never moved.

Eh.
Well I mean its a good price for moving out for the first time, and this is the only one in Tempe that didn't have the worst reviews and cost 1000 dollars, plus its right by asu and the orbit bus and such. The parking lot is pretty ------ and off putting when u first see it since the pavment is like falling apart and all the cement blocks are pretty much ripped out of the ground. My boyfriend parked his bike out there for one night and the seat got jacked, that was a pain to say the least. Now the staff...I could live without ever having to talk to them, they are unfortunatly....idiots. They never know wtf is going on and try to rip u off any chance they get.And there was an incident where the maintenece needed to work on something in the apartment down stairs and needed to look at our shower, so they called to get permission to look and we were busy so we said no, no less that 20 minutes later this man unlocks the door and just walks in, and spoke barley any english so when i told him to go away he just stared at me and went toward the bathroom...I was so p/o. Now for the interior its pretty nice, though half the drawers were already falling apart and the patio door/screen/blinds all fell apart the first week we were here :/ Insulation is pretty sh*tty too...our first electric bill during the summer was over 300 dollars, i almost fainted!! And our neighbors are all drunk and loud like every night of the week. To say the least I'm not impressed and if i had a better job i DEFINATLY wouldn't be living here. But hey, u get what u pay for.

WOW! 3 reviews in one day ~ ALL POSITIVE.. yeah right!
Yes, its true, it is a great location and the maintenance guys are pretty quick, but its still ------! Loud dogs barking all day and night, walls so thin you hear everything.. EVERYTHING, so remember that the next time you're getting busy.. your neighbor hears EVERYTHING!

Love it!
This is truly the most fun I have had at an apartment. I have alot of my friends that moved here and I have met most of my neighbors. It is so fun. Whether you are at the pool or in the fitness center (so cool) there is someone I know, at least by sight. I love it here.

The best location!
I do like the apartments but I would live here solely for the location. I am close to everything. I use the Orbitz bus all the time. Why spend the gas when I can ride my bike or take the FREE bus? I also spend alot of time here. I love the fitness center and basketball court. I have met so many of my neighbors here. It seems like everyone knows everyone. The girls in the office are sweet and maint seems to get everything done.

I am moving in here
This sounds like a super place to live. I know that the fitness center is unbelievable. It is so nice. All the places I looked at that had a great fitness center was WAY too expensive. The inside of the apartments is fine. I don't plan on being a homebody anyway. I can't wait. Several of my friends already live there and love it.

The BEST deal / place to live in all of Tempe!!!
I am halfway through my second lease and I plan on a third! The main thing for me here is that I feel very, very safe! Very helpful staff, grounds are always clean, apartment maintenance is always quick to respond and fixes the issue the first time, they are very pet friendly. The manager and her staff are always going out of there way to make the residents happy. I have never seen one scorpion or roach since I have lived here! Anyone who says that is just disgruntled and lying. The residents are very friendly and the complex is quiet after hours. I have nothing but good things to say about the Desert Palm Village apartments and their very courteous staff. Thanks for making my apartment a home!

I Can't Believe I Lived Here!
Cons: 1) Scorpions- OMG grooooss, can't believe I never stepped on one in the middle of the night because they were right in my front hallway. 2) Noise- there are train tracks just North of Vista Del Cerro in case you somehow missed them. 3) Neighbors- hit or miss, made some friends but there were some freaking wack jobs there too and I'm pretty sure they dealt drugs. 4) Construction- place is shoddy, old and had gaps between sliding glass door and frame and between front door and frame = HUGE ELECTRIC BILL DURING SUMMER!!! 5) Theft- my car and most of my neighbors' cars got broken in to. Some punks actually stole the catalytic converter off of my car. WTF? Pros: 1) Location- obviously close to ASU, but pay the extra dollar for higher quality or live a bit further (I recommend S of US60 on Rural). 2) Cheap- this could also be a con.

Awesome place to live
I live here at Desert Palm Village and have for three years. I love the open areas where I can walk my dog...She loves running in the grass (on a leash of course). I like having covered parking and the maintenance staff always have my requests done on time. It is on the Orbit bus route and is very convenient when my car does not work.

hell on earth
That was the worst place to live EVER! there are a looooot of roaches, scorpions, spiders, loud neighboors, it always smells like dog pop. Don t even get me started about the air conditioning, they had to repair it 5 times, it never worked, and it elevated my electricity bills up tu over $500. Told the good for nothing girls at the manager s offices and they just put their pretty faces and said that their s nothing they can do. My car antena and some other parts were stolen, there was always someone parked on my parking space, my underware was stolen from the laundry room, my apartment was broken into and who ever did it stole only things that I just bought and were still on the store bags, and again, told that to the manager s office and they could not care less, couldn t wait to get out of there!

A good place to live!
I lived there for almost one year. I like the spacious two bed two bath model. They repair things very quick, I can not complain about that. They have warm swimming pools and club house which brought me lots of fun long time ago. My neighbors were ASU students, only few of times they have parties but most of times they are quiet. I like it because the plenty of parking, it have gates, close to safeway and bus station. A good place!

I haven't had many issues
These apartments are really not that bad. I had a leak in my roof from the apartment above's bathtub, and they fixed it within a few days. The guys are great and they will come at 2am if you really need them too. I haven't really had any issue with girls in the front, except when I moved in I was told that the digusting bathtub was going to be resurfaced before my move in date. It wasn't and it took over a week for it to be done. But beware, don't leave your bike in the bike rack. Mine got stolen because someone broke the lock. They also lanscape early in the morning, which isn't fun if you don't have to get up at 7am. It's nice that there is no size limit on dogs, but no one seems to clean up after them.

Would recommend but scorpions
Not bad for the price at all except one thing. In the hot season I found 5-10 scorpions.

A Fricken Nightmare
Why I wouldn't recommend Desert Palm Village, even to my worst enemy. 1. The office staff is the most incompetent group of individuals I have ever seen. There are constantly new women in the office, who are just a bunch of pretty women with no brain. Last group of people have been fired for drinking on the job. Way to go. 2. The electric bills for a 2 bedroom apartment during the summer is at least $300. No kidding. The insulation is so terrible you hear everything happening outside, and everyone outside can hear everything in your apartment. You have absolutely no sense of privacy. 3. The washer and dryers on site are a joke. They are constantly breaking down, eat your money, and the women in the office? They don't care. They're too busy filing their nails or talking on the phone with their boyfriends. 4. People don't know how to clean up after their dogs so this place constantly smells like dog ----. They threaten fines, but they don't follow through. They don't care, it's maintenance who has to clean up the dog ----, not the women in the office. 5. There are random cats running around the property, stray dogs, and insects everywhere. The people by us moved out and they had cockroaches living in their apartment. When they bombed their place, we saw the cockroaches running out of the apartment. Not kidding. 6. If you live on the south side of the street, you deal with ants, cock roaches, and many other bugs. You live on the north side? You get scorpions. 7. The appliances are from the early 80's, the cupboards and drawers fall apart in the kitchen. I have four drawers in the kitchen that I cannot use because they fell apart. The closet doors are constantly off their tracks. 8. There is graffiti sprayed on the walls, the walls surrounding the garbage dumpsters, and random people are walking around trying to solicit drugs. 9. Laundry will get stolen from the laundry room, have seen it many times. People have asked me if I saw anyone walk out with a basket full of clothes. Well yes I did but how the hell am I supposed to know that's not their clothes? 10. Our neighbor had his apartment broken into, and the office staff had no sympathy. They just kind of shrugged their shoulders. The only good thing about this place? Maintenance. They are quick and efficient, and do the job right the first time. Don't even look at this place, just keep on driving.

This Just In
The lights on the appartment grounds have been out in my area of the complex for over a month. The front office just gives an "oh well" and goes about thier business reading Cosmo and painting thier nails. I had the misfortune of having to talk to the old salty b**ch who I belive runs the place. She told me to be patient. Funny how we're supposed to just accept thier fake --- apology for weeks at a time when they can't give one or two days' leeway when paying rent cause my dog got sick. So if you're a pretty girl or are carrying valuables don't go to Desert Palm village cause you'll get raped or robbed. Weather it's by a criminal hiding in the bushes or managment in the front office, who knows.

Far from great, but not that bad.
There is next to no insulation, so the electric bills are always through the roof, there is no security on the grounds, which are poorly lit, "Consolidated Smart Systems" which is the company you have to pay to get cable is a rip off, and the new leasing office gives a false impression that you're moving into a luxury apartment. You're not. You're getting what you paid for, which isn't much. The rent here is dirt cheap, and not only is it walking distance from ASU, but it is right along a street where the Orbit comes and picks you up every 10 minutes. I live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, and the rooms are HUGE. They have good deals on rent, and maintenance comes and repairs pretty quickly. I wouldn't recommend this apartment to a family, but for starving college students, it seems to work.

Look elsewhere before renting here....
I lived at DPV for a few years until I found so many scorpions in my apartment, I was developing an anxiety issue over it. And, yes, my place was kept clean - they are not like cockroaches and are attracted to water not dirt. I got stung by 1 walking on the grounds to the laundry room in flip flops and a separate time in my apartment. Before you rent here because of the cheap price tag consider this: people are not kidding or exaggerating about having electric bills around $300/month in the summer. The lowest I could get mine in the summer was $240 and that was keeping it at around 90 degrees....yes, 90 degrees in my home because of the bill...that summer sucked. You should factor this in and it might be cheaper (and much more comfortable) to pay a higher rent elsewhere because of what you will save in electric. Now at my new and much nicer apartment, the highest my electric bill went in the summer was under $75 and I kept it at around a nice, cool 75 degrees inside. Also - laundry rooms. They suck. The machines are: never all working, expensive, small, and are always being used by other people that have left their clothes in there to mildew and rot for what seems like days. I used to do my laundry in the middle of the night (typically around midnight to 1 am) just so I could get empty machines. And, I was honestly scared to death I would be raped and murdered in those sketchy laundry rooms...but a girl needs clean clothes... Also, I have found that I save money now by having a place that has a washer/dryer in it. And, if you live here please make sure that you LOVE Pitbulls. I felt like every single person but me had a freaking pitbull...and, no, they are not all mean and viscous but some actually are. Yes, they can be great pets if you train them, socialize them, and work with them but from my experience - for the average college gangster, dog training is not high on the priority list. So, before "saving" all that money by living at DPV, don't forget to calculate in the additional cost of anti-anxiety medication needed to live and co-habitate with poisonous insects, outrageous electric bills (seriously figure an average of about $175 per month year round - could never figure out why it was so expensive in the winter but it was then too), and laundry machines which really add up. Right now I pay $150 more per month in my current apartment than DPV but save money every month (or close to break even) because the other bills decreased so much. And, now I have granite counter tops, a roman bath tub, recessed lighting, a huge patio, walk-in closet, and NOT ONE scorpion....Keep looking - you can find better than DPV.

10 Reasons to Avoid Desert Palm Village
Desert Palm Village is a dump. Here's why: 1. The electric bills are ridiculous. They're routinely $300 in the summer. The place isn't well insulated at all. 2. Cockroaches. It only takes on dumpy tenant to infest the whole building. We had some such tenants in our building and ended up with cockroaches and ants. It got better when they moved out, but they're still around. 3. Dog crap. Everywhere. Seriously, this place smells like a dogcrap all the time. They have free poop bags everywhere, but do you think the trashy dog owners here use them? Nope. There are a lot of big dogs, lots of barking, and lots of dogcrap. We tried to use the tennis courts, but guess what... there was dog crap on them. The management threatens fines, but they never walk the property so no one pays attention. 4. They charge you the same amount of pet rent for a quiet little cat as they do for a pitbull. My cat doesn't crap all over the property. 5. There is one nice person in the office. I don't know her name, but if you go in there she'll stand out as the nice one because the other workers are nasty. 6. The laundry rooms are often broken. They put in new washers/dryers, but they put in fewer units. They're often full. I suspect that some people are running a laundering service in the laundry room near my apartment. 7. Do you like gangs? Do you appreciated having your area tagged? The maintenance hurries up and covers up graffiti, but both the dumpster (which stinks terrible) and the walls have been tagged. 8. Weirdos. There are a couple of people who just stare at you when you walk by. I came home one night to find my downstairs neighbor and some other weirdos outside smoking butts wearing only briefs. There are too many weirdos to go through them all. 9. Poor lighting. The walkways between the apartments and the parking lots are poorly lit. It doesn't feel safe at all. 10. Services. You can't get Cox, you can't get SRP. APS is a rip off. If your apartment doesn't face the right direction for a satellite dish, you have to pay some fraudulent company called Consolidated Smart Systems 10 bucks a month for Directv. Everything here is a rip off.

Not the best but would recommend
I have lived at Desert Palm Village for 4 years. It isn't flawless but it isn't the worse. I have had a lot of things need to be fixed over the years, and they always fix them. It may take a couple of tries but they end up fixed in the end. The office staff is not that helpful or friendly but I just have to hand them a check every month so I don't mind. The apartments are big for 1 bed/1 bath, it is pretty quiet here, and I don't have any major complaints. The 2 biggest problems - electricity bills are outrageously expensive (mine was $195 for June) and I don't think there has been a time that all of the washers and dryers all worked (even after they installed new ones) which can be frustrating.

Good Deal for your money
The complex is pretty nice though I wish they would gate the community to help keep some of the riff raff out. There always seems to be people digging through the dumpsters and the occasional break ins. The one downside of the complex is the dogs. Good lord a lot of people have dogs and they leave the poop all over the place. I got a letter stating that they are fining people who do not clean up after their dogs but this seems to be a joke. They recently upgraded their washing machines and dryers to a card system. Unfortunately they never informed us that we would be without washing machines/dryers for about 3 weeks. As mentioned before the insulation isn't the greatest so your apartment heats up pretty fast and uses a lot of electricity. The location and price are top notch though and I have no complaints. The noise levels also don't seem to be too bad. I've had no problems in dealing with the maintenance staff or the people in the front office. Besides the brunette who works there is pretty cute.
