Live Here if You like Getting Ripped OFF!!! HORRIBLE!!!!
I have lived here for a 1.5 years. From the time we signed the lease, the office has been rude, ignorant, offensive, and completely unhelpful. We enter the office and the staff ignores you until you say something. I timed it once, it took the staff 1 min and 13 seconds to acknowledge my entrance, and they did that by saying, "what do you want?" Ablsoutely horrible!!! If we have questions regarding fees, Etc., instead of a a nice answer, we get "We can charge you that, its in the lease!!!"
It takes approximately 45mins -1 hour to get an answer. Now they are trying to charge us for something that is not in the lease. They are rude, even hanging up on us!!!
As far as the property, crime is rampant. Clothes are constantly being stolen out of the w/d. Cars are being broken into... The walls are thin and they have APS, so electric bills are ~$200 in the summer (for a 1-bedroom). They do not have Cox, so you have to get Satellite, and slow DSL. They maintenance staff is decent, relatively good at helping. The amenities are decent, but nothing to call home for. Everybody hates living there...
The only reason we have not left is because it is close to ASU... But we are leaving in June!!! No longer worth the hassle!!!

Do not live here unless you like rude un professional people.

All of the cool staff is gone and we are stuck with b****´s from hell. My underwear has been stolen my roomates car was broken into. My friends on the other side had scorpions all over. She woke up with one in her bed.

My only advice is stay far away from Desert Palm Village.
The ULTIMATE reason not to live here:
If there´s anyone that can convince you not to live here,it´s me. There was a fire in my building on Christmas morning at 3 A.M. because my idiot neighbor left a burning cigarette on his couch. This is the only fire in the apartment´s history. My boyfriend and I were with our family for the holidays so the only one home was our little 6 month old kitten. The fire was raging apparently and the firefighters thought it was going to take the whole building, but luckily, only 2 of the 8 apartments in the building were unsalvagable. Out of all 8, ours was the only one spared of any damage. NO ONE CALLED TO TELL US THE FIRE HAPPENED. After a wonderful Christmas, my boyfriend and I arrived home to find 6 of the 8 doors in our building boarded up, soot everywhere, and all of the power shut off. Our kitty was left alone in there and we were never ever called by any staff. He was wheezing and I was afraid he was very sick, but after some fresh air, things were fine. We gathered our things and went back with our families until something could be worked out. First thing the next morning, the front office received a very angry call from me asking for an explanation. I was told someone would get back to me within 30 minutes. When no one called after 45, I called even more upset. The manager asked me to come in and discuss what we could do. So, when I came in, she offered me the very least. She said she didn´t see why I couldn´t stay in the apartment because in her opinion, it was livable. Let me tell you I couldn´t even breathe because of the smoke, the power was still off, and the rest of the building was in shambles. I told her I wanted to move and then proceded to ask her why I was not called. She said she heard the news about 9 am on Christmas morning and since she is pregnant and has bad morning sickness, she wasn´t feeling well enough to call anyone. I´m sorry, but morning sickness is NO EXCUSE for not informing someone of almost losing all of their belongings and their pet in a fire. To make a long story short, they transferred us to a new apartment and paid all my activation fees for electricity and such. They also replaced all the groceries that went bad in the refrigerator and freezer when the power was shut off after the fire. It was honestly the least they could do and I had to fight just to get them to give me that. There is no excuse for not calling anyone after something like this, especially when they have a pet.

Aside from this, the area I live in isn´t too noisy, though I live underneath a girl who sounds like she is moving around her apartment in the wee hours of the morning every night. I have complained and nothing happens.

Also, the first week I lived here one of my car´s tires got stolen and I walked out to my car to find the front right side resting on a green crate. The night time security is non-existent here.

And, in the winter, the longest shower you can take before the water is ice cold is about 5 minutes.

In my opinion, parties aren´t an issue. I am an ASU student, but an honors one, and I have no tolerance for that kind of crap. Luckily for me, I must live in an area where that doesn´t happen since so many people claim to hear parties all the time. Glad those parties aren´t by me, because I´d be calling the police every night on them!

Overall, don´t live here, because if anything bad happens to you they take little or no responsibility for what has happened to you. I can´t wait to move when my lease is up.

all good
I like it here. It is not a wild place to live, but it is fun. I have a lot of friends here and that makes it all the more fun. I have referred a lot of friends, and each time I do they give me $300. I wish they had a volleyball court on my side of the property. I would say it is a cool place to call home. Come check it out. Maybe we´ll meet someday.

P.S. There are some very hot girls living here.

Close to Campus
I have lived ate Desert Palm for 2 years. I am an ASU student in my last year. I lived at Rancho Marietta and the dorms before moving here. I enjoy Desert Palm the most. I really enjoy the pools, basketball court and pool tables. I use all of the amenities and would have to say that is the best part about living here. I also ride my bike, so I do not have to pay for parking. It takes about 10 minutes to get to campus. I would recommend living on the inside of the property. It is safer. All and all it has been an enjoyable place to live.

It is a nice place for the money
I have lived at Desert Palm for 6 years. I live in Tempe because it is in the center of all the cities. I have lived at my share of complexes and they are all the same. You can live at the Ritz and still be unhappy. It depends on who you are and what you expect. I find it funny to read these reviews. I could say that I am mad at the staff, because they sent me a noise letter last month, but that would be silly. I was noise and they did their job. It is not a perfect place to live, but it´s what I pay for. If you can afford a nicer/newer place then move there. If you cannot I think you should deal with it and relize at a property that is at least 15 years old, it is not going to be perfect. Thay allow big dogs and that is nice.

Good luck and trust your instincts.
This place sucks!!!!!!!
Security is terrible (my friends car was vandelized, and another friends car was broken into), management is bad, all they want is your money, they never want to help you, maintnance sucks, electric bills are insane (poor insolation and thin windows and walls), and the "warm tub" is hardly ever open. Do not live here! Terrible!!!!!!!

Lots of amenities-Cool place
I have had a lot of fun at Desert Palm. I moved here in 2002 from New York to go to ASU. I was a Junior in college and had lived in the dorms prior to Desert Palm. I was so excited when I saw the model. It was a huge 1x1 compared to my dorm room. They had it decorated so cute. Like any typical girl that made a huge difference to me. I moved in the summer and the place was pretty quite. When school started the parties began. Some of the friends I made lived in quite areas and some did not. If you want quite don´t live by the volley ball court. The staff are sweet and friendly. I enjoy them. The complex is not perfect, but I am planning on staying another year. I figure no complex is perfect. They give good incentives for you to move in and renew and I think it is worth it. If it´s not broke why fix it. I really like the computer lab and the fact that they have so many amenities. They even rent video´s for free. It is easy to never to have to drive more than 1 mile, because anything you needs is so close.

Well enough about my experience. I think if you move here it will be an enjoyable time. Anyone can be a pain in the butt resident. I just let the good overcome the bad. Good luck!!
BEEN THERE DONE THAT
I lived there in the past...the office staff was ok the manager at the time was my favoite. She helped me and my family and we are honest people and she gave a head start. The apt itself is an apt, what can you say, if you viewed the model or a vacant, then you know what your gonna live in, and if you don´t like it, don´t move there! When you live in an apt, you kinda have to expect less than people that live in a house not that there really is any differeance. BUGS, it one time I had a ant problem, although it took some time, the problem was resolved. There are so many people living in such a small area, that you have to expect something, nothing can go prefect.

Location is worth it
Close to asu and tons of students live here so there are always people to meet and hang out with, but you really pay for the location and not the quality, certainly not the nicest apartments and staff can often be rude but at the same time ive lived here two years because its a hot spot . . .

Not the best place to live
Things do happen, but not as many times things have happened here. No one can say what Desert Palm Village is like unless they live here. The first couple of months was great for me. Then things changed. The staff has become rude and act like they are greater then thou and do nothing but lie.

The A/C quit working and they haven´t fixed it. The neighbors let there 2 dogs go to the bathroom right outside my bedroom window and don´t bother to clean it up. Yes having a party all the time is fun and that´s cool, but not every night til 3 or 4 am at noise levels that would keep anyone up.

There is much more, but I have better things to do than waste my time on a place like this. If you are 18 - 21 yrs. old then the place may be perfect for you.

I think it´s great
I moved in to the complex a few months ago and I have had only one problem (with the exception of the phone company) The staff is great and kind. No problems from them at all. Had one problem but it was taken care of and done in a professional manner. I admit there are parties but we live a mile from the campus. I deal and have no problem with my neighbors. Parties happen and nothing gets destroyed or too loud so I let them enjoy themselves. I have friends over and we can be loud but no one says anything. Anyway, before this gets ridiculous, let me just say this place is great and I would bring a friend here. I was brought in by a friend! My friends like it!

Bad things happen everywhere!!
Any educated person would be highly disturbed by the ignorance and wrath in these comments. Anywhere you live, you could have a problem. I don´t live there, but was reading the comments and could care less what comments are made about some apartment complex.

I have a friend who lives there and told me to check out this funny web site that some person created to help people decide on where to move.

I can only assume that any intelligent person would not listen to such immature bashing as this. Just because someone had a bad experience does not mean you will. I fell sorry for any complex that has to deal with these kind of reviews.
There are better places than here I´M SURE!!!!!!
My husband and I have lived at DPV for 16 months and we can´t wait to leave!! We would have moved when it was time to renew our lease, but the expense of moving was to much for us. The office staff knows how expensive it can be and takes advantage of this to those who must renew leases due to being a student and finishing school. We are moving next month and it isn´t soon enough.

In the very beginning we thought that things weren´t to bad. Then after just a couple of days things started to change. The first thing we noticed was the tank on our toilet wasn´t stable. You could knock it over every time you flushed. Maintenance solution for fixing it was putting a 2x4 behind it to hold it against the wall. We tried to have it fix better than that, but gave up after the staff ignored our request after a couple of times.

The noise level is bad. The person upstairs from us is making hammering noises and what sounds like moving furniture every night until 5 or so in the morning. We complained and the noise has continued. The same as the parties that go on most nights of the week. (doesn´t anybody work anymore?)

Water has leaked from the bathroom ceiling over the toilet. We couldn´t use the bathroom for a couple of hours becouse of the leak. Water has also leaked into our bedroom closet (that was fixed) and kitchen window from above. We have what some could call a small swamp outside of our window due to the leak from the hot water heater that drains outside. Again we have let them know about this, but has anything been done. No

The refridgerator wasn´t working right. After three times of "fixing" it they finally decided to get us a new one. It was like all of the other appliances. OLD!!!

The A/C wasn´t working. They came out to fix it once and said nothing was wrong with it. It was still to hot inside the apartment (it was only April) so we opened our windows and slinding door. The screen door doesn´t shut all the way show mosquitos were coming inside like crazy. After being bit to many times we asked again for them to send someone out to check our A/C. Three more times later, no on had come out. The final straw with the A/C was our baby who is 5 months old woke up in the morning with bites all over her face and legs. I demanded that someone take care of the problem. That was like pulling teeth. An outside contractor checked our A/C and said that it was fried and should of been replaced a year ago. They finally broke down and replaced our A/C.

We were told by the staff that there is no mosquito or ant problem. They were wrong!!

Security could be better. We had a bike stolen, our car vandalized, clothes stolen from the laundry room and yes even a man walking around naked once in the middle of the night. The night monitor was called and nothing was done about it. They made it seem like it was no big deal. There is children that live here. It´s not just ASU students.

The staff has something left to be desired. For one there needs to be someone muture and responsible. Not just young women. There is other things that they need to be doing other than having Taco Bell at there desk with there boyfriend and not helping you when they´re the only one there. If your top priority is to be phony then the staff at DPV is very good at it. I have noticed how well they treat the men tenants much better than the women. I overhear them telling prospects how the swimming pool is heated (the heater is never on), the computer lab with it´s internet(that is never working. It doesn´t take a month to get it fixed) they don´t inform you that there is train tracks right in your back yard, they say there is a waiting list to rent an apartment. ( there is always empty apartments around our unit. Right now there is six out of eight of them empty in our area) The staff is always leaving fliers on your door to get your friends to rent there. It is made pretty obvious that they are desperate for people to move in. We were told that we HAD to renew our lease. Once we told them we didn´t have to, then they basically started to beg.

We have talked to neighbors and the have just as many complaints. If the apartments were updated, no more ugly early 80´s brown carpet, lino and cabinets, floorboads coming off, the original appliances, a better trained and more muture staff, apartments to be ready to move into and maintenance and night monitors that don´t make you feel nervous about asking for their help, it wouldn´t be to bad of a place to live. I would say it difinatley is not a good place to live if your a single female. The neighbor who is female was in the shower when maintenance entered their apartment when she didn´t give them permisson. We haven´t had that experience, but who knows if it happens that close to home anything can happen.

It´s OK
i lived here from 98 - 00. that time was ok but now i would not want to live there now. i like parties as much as any college kid but when its several times a week its starts to get a little annoying. my roommate´s car was broken into and the stereo stolen. the apartments look nice from the outside but inside it looks dated. the trim around the doors kept coming loose. we also found scorpions on the patio several times. covered parking was a plus.

Cry me a river
what a bunch of babies! Obviously you spoiled college kids can´t handle the real world-where everything is not perfect and handed to you on a silver spoon! I find it hard to believe anything I read on here because it all sounds like repetitive crying and complaining. I happen to very much enjoy living here. I think it is a good community and have had absolutely ZERO problems. I think maintenance is efficient and very nice guys-I think the office workers are polite and do the best that they can. What do you all expect? Them to bend over and kiss your --- everytime you walk in the door? Treat people how you want to be treated and again realize that everything is not going to be all honkey-dorey because this is your "first apartment" and mom and dad are totally going to pay for everything. Try to stop crying all the time and remember that what doesn´t kill you in life can only make you stronger!!

Living here is a hazard!
My roomate and I were two college freshman girls starting out life on our own. We got a pretty good promotional deal here and decided to move in. Little did we know. First, they didnt allow us to view the actual apartment we would be living in until the day of our move-in. And when we finally did see it, it was so run-down. Things were broken, cracked, stained, punctured. The AC bill just about broke us. There were knife punctures in our front door(that is made tin or something like it), three of the four burners on our stove didnt work. We had an ant infestation. The front desk people were rude, pushy, and manipulative. There is no safe parking after 7pm. If you want creepy dirty guys hitting on you just call on the maintence staff. But the real "hazard" comes in when my roomates shower door had broken off(before we moved in), so we had maintenence come and "fix" it, and come "fix" it again, and again and again. Until one night after my roommate took a shower, she went to close the shower door and it fell and split her forehead open. When we informed management about this, there were no appoligies, no free rent, no sort of compensation. (And the door is still not fixed!) So we are moving to the Enclave apartments on Southern and Dorsey. They seem clean, up-kept, and we even get to view the apartment before we move in. You better bet we will be inspecting the shower door!

OMG! WE all feel the same way!
Yes to everything stated. This place sucked and is so run down. My girls and I didn´t get hot water for the first week or two we were there, our roof literatlly caved in after a water leak and wasn´t finished for 20 days after (while living with large energy consuming vaccuums and not being able to reach the kitchen for two days), yes, the AC broke a few times, the stove broke, and a list of other things, to top it all off, the week before we moved out the pipeline underneath the kitchen sink broke and flooded the apartment. They finally fixed it after a hour or so but didn´t mop up all the nasty water, my roomate spent two hours cleaning it up herself. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. PROBLEM FROM DAY ONE, LITERALLY!

sucks!!
I lived in dpv for a year. To summarize: WORST YEAR OF MY LIFE.
My AC broke in April, maintanance "fixed" it.
Four weeks later it broke again, maintanance came and "fixed" it. Four week later it broke again, maintanace "fixed" it. You can see where tis is going.
Every month they came to fix the AC all they did was add coolant to a leaky broken machiene. So every month I had no AC for a day or two. Real fun all summer!!!
Add on to that the slew of scorpions we had. The office blamed it on the fact that we lived by the train tracks. My boyfriends car got stolen - they blamed that on the train tracks too???? Our mail box got broken into 3 times!!!
And some jerk keyed my truck (allong with some other resident´s vehicles) a few times.
Please do not move here!!!
This apartment is garbage. Read this review
First, I want to talk about the staff at Desert Palm Village. Their customer service skills are at a minimal level; a staff of uneducated women who repeatedly lie, steal, and manipulate any customer for money. It is entirely fair of me to say these people are the biggest pain in the --- to deal with. Again, I want to stress the fact that the staff at Desert Palms Apartments is the most rude, poorly mannered, impolite, disrespectful, offensive, and foul individuals you will ever do business with. No doubt, these employees strive for a high commission check by lying to their customers.

Second, I want to inform anyone who is considering living there, Desert Palms has a major scorpion problem. Within my year lease, my apartment had found nine scorpions. Again, the staff never informed us of any such problem prior to moving in. The staff believes by sending out an exterminator will resolve the problem. No doubt, this is a lie. The exterminator told us, “all that can be done is to keep the apartment clean”. The spray of chemicals does not keep these dangerous insects away. In addition, all the scorpions found were babies, which are known to be the deadliest due to the inability to control the amount of venom when injected into their prey. The scorpions were always present. My neighbor who lived below me, found eleven scorpions in one month. This is the truth. Again, this all leads back to the staff at Desert Palms. They lied about the solution to fixing this problem, they lied about calling an exterminator, and they were extremely rude every time we inquired this matter.

Third, anyone who considers living at Desert Palms will have to deal with crime. I know of several of friends, whose cars were stolen, vandalized, and damaged. Car stereos are ripped off, windows are broken, paint jobs are “keyed”, and car tires slashed. Again, the staff claims no responsibility for this matter. Last the living quality is absolutely horrible. Residential crime includes neighbors who beat their wives; residents are always partying as late as 4a.m., and homeless people bathe in the apartments public hot tub.

I have read many other comments that are similar to mine. To the comment by one of the residents who has lived at Desert Palms for five years-- I am an educated resident. I know what customer service is, and I understand good living conditions. Obviously, this person is a Desert Palms employee. The staff at Desert Palms Village are the only ones who do not have an education. A few questions to ask yourself after reading that particular review are; how would the person know there are 512 units available in the complex? Why would someone make excuses for a scorpion problem? What is this persons’ motive? Why would a resident put time and effort in defending an apartment complex? No doubt, the person spent more time attacking other reviewers, rather than making positive remarks about the complex. Don’t believe that last review. It’s not true.

My advice; if you live at Desert Palms, you are making a big mistake. Don’t believe me? Call Desert Palms Village and ask them yourself- (480) 968-1099. Speak to the manager, her name is Michelle. If Michelle isn’t there, ask for Rebecca. They will be happy to lie to about any questions that you may have.
I have lived here 5 years
Hello fellow reader,

I found this web site today and could not beleive what I read. I have lived at Desert Palm for 5 years. I live on the south side of the property in a one bedroom. I can say I would have moved a long time ago if the things I read were true. I have had my share of good and bad experiences with the staff at DPV. The staff that has been in the office for over a year is good. They are always friendly and on top of things in my situation. Maintenance has always responded within a few days and seem to know what they are doing.

As I read the reviews I can tell these people are pretty upset for some reason. I have a lot of friends here and most of them have been pretty happy. I can see that there are only a few a year. In DPV defense there are 512 units and to only have a few a year says a lot. If there are scorpions, lets remember we live in the desert, if you don´t pay uour rent let´s remember you will get evicted.

You can tell by the language and wording that the people righting these comments are very uneducated and have no tact.

I would reccomend DPV to anyone. I am happy to call it my home. When I gradutae next year I will be moving back to NY, but I will still refer anyone to DPV.

Good luck in your decision.

This place sucks my balls
The floor plans are ok, and its close to ASU. THATS IT! The management SUCKS my balls so very hard. They repeatedly "don´t remember" things they told you when you moved in. I HIGHLY recommend taping every conversation you ever have with them, then playing it for them when they disagree with what they said. This is what I did.

They told us that crime was typical. After being broken into 3 times, having 3 cars broken into and our cars full of bullet holes one morning, we decided to look into this. Turns out that the police department says that the street desert palms is on is THE MOST INTENSE CRIME AREA IN TEMPE. Once again, the management lied to us, and it has cost us $1800 to date.

Also, APARTMENTS HAVE NO INSULATION. Doesn´t seem like a big deal, but when your power bill is $280 in the summer (and that is leaving the air on 80 degrees), and is the lowest in October (when you don´t use air or heat) at $180, it becomes a problem.

There is a huge scorpion problem. Every single person I have every talked to except one has had scorpions in their apartment. The management, when confronted, said they were unaware of this!!!

They do attempt to keep up the lawn, but, and I swear to this, trees are trimmed with chainsaws and lawn are mowed as early as 5:30 AM!!!!! I have heard stories of 4:45AM, but this is from my own experience.

Cable is provided by a Dallas based company, and that is your only option. Service sucks and you can´t get certain channels.

It borders a train track, so no matter where you live, you will hear a train 5 times a day.

They make offers such as free cable and free high speed internet if you sign with them. However, something always happens to that this doesn´t come true ("oh, we no longer have a contract with them--sorry!")

When we finally complained about these things and said we were going to do something about it, they kicked us out! They said it was because we were late on our rent 3 times! I called around and the apartment complex next door said that 35% of their residents had been late 3 or more times in the past year. I assumes that is similar with desert palms, meaning that they should have kicked out people living in 165 units. Somehow I doubt they did.
