it could be alot worst but it could be better
Pets are allowed but the owners never pick up after them, and the office just sends out a letter and nothing really done about it. Another thing is, the parking they make you have your cover parking far away from your apartment. when you want some friends to come over its is a maze to have someone try and find your apartment because ther are no numbers to tell you were to go. Another thing the stairs are all pointing to the court yard. so when you just get done shopping you have to walked all the way around to get to your home.

nice ambience cable services suck!!!!!
The apartments are really nice and the ambience is also really good. They are doing a good job in maintaining them.

The only thing that sucks is that you wont get cable from qwest or any other cable companies. TVMAX is the only option and they are really expaensive. FOr internet you might get qwest DSL..but if you are looking for bundled packages...FORGET IT.

Overall average!!!!!

Things become worse and worse
I have been living here for almost 2 years. I will definitely move out at the end of the lease. They assigned cover parking far away from your room. The office staffs have been changed several time and become worse and worse. Now the apartment has the worst office staffs I had ever met. They are very rude and unconsiderable. I will not think about moving to any other apartments with the same owner.

Recommend. It's a good place!
I have been living in a 1b/1b apartment in Desert Palm for 1.5 years. I like my apartment very much, because it is spacious, has a good view (a big tree infront of the window and balcony) and my neighbors are quiet (most of them are senior ASU students).

The new managers are fine, better than the ones before. I like the tennis court, basketball court, but NOT like the swimming pool and hot tub (sometimes they looks dirty, but this impression was from last summer, i don't know whether they have been changed since the new managers come). We seldom use our covered parking lot, because it is far away from our apartment. I don't know why the manager arrange it so unwisely.

It usually have 2 month free in the summer, and give out current residents good recommendation fee. If you want to live near ASU, and have a spacious room in a fair price level (around $550), it is definitly a good choice. I have visited a lot of apartments near ASU, Desert Palm is the best in that price level.

i loved it!
After 2.5 years, I finally I graduated from ASU and moved out of Desert Palm. Having moved around Tempe for years, I'm so happy I found this place. The community is nice and clean and they're doing a lot of renovations these days. Since IMT management took over, the service became much better - maintenance supervisor is excellent.

I loved the tennis courts and the swimming pools. I never used the gym, I don't think is that good. I love the free copy machine. They have highspeed internet (though the computers are bad and full of spyware, if you're just surfing its good!) There's also free color laser printing in the office which I often use. Unfortunately, some residents abuse it, printing tons of crap so the printers are taking a beating and down a lot.

I felt safe in that apartment. Twice I left my apartment key hanging on my door overnight and nothing happened. I just realize my mistake the morning after.

I encounter problems due to high turnover of leasing agents and some of them are inexperienced. I also complained that my assigned parking space is so far from my place but I only use it during summer and the rest of the year, there's enough parking for me and my guests. I also heard about some bug problems but I never had it. Maybe it's better on the second floor.

I was sad to leave it last week but I have to move on. I recommend this place. Good price and good community.

Really sorry I rented from here
Car was stolen. They also do inspections for which they do not allow you to refuse. Will not be renewing the lease. Qwest is also abusive and there is no other way to get internet.

ITS TRUE
I've been reading these statements and its sad but all true. When me and my roommate first moved in the staff was very nice. Even called me a couple of times on my cell phone to make sure everything was ok. But once we signed the lease it all changed. The staff is VERY rude and have horrible attitudes. I don't understand why the staff acted so high and mighty? They worked as receptionist for a broke down apartment. It wasn't like they were making an extreme amount of money. The maintenence people are fine some are pretty funny. But we can't blame it on them, they just take the orders from the idiots in the office. Once we had a leak in the living room and when the maintencence guy showed up (after talking to him) he was told by the office just to patch it up. But he felt pretty sorry for me so he actually fixed it up and used the supplies he should of done in the first place. Instead of just patching it up like those girls told him to do in the office. I personally wouldn't go back there again if the rent was free. But if your a student who is moving to the valley don't move here, it will make your experience really bad.

Huhhhhh!!!!!!!
Ok we need to keep in mind that most of the people that live here are first time renters
They are coming from mommy and daddy's house where every thing was handed to them and their butts were wiped for them.(usually by mommy, cause daddy was probably out with mommy's best friend!)This is called the real world. Welcome and let all who enter take note of the fact that life is not always gonna be peaches and cream. of course there are things that need to be improved. But that goes for every apt complex.nothing is ever perfect. If it was they wouldn't have this web site now would they? Who ever writes these comments especially the 5 most recent ones need to A) learn how to spell, doesn't A.S.U. teach you how? and B) not take things to the extreme.Only mature,
level-headed,adults(who know how to spell)
should be writing stuff here.Oh by the way those who do write this stuff should try not drinking before they do. Don't deny it i see the beer and alchohal bottles every morning when I go to work. And I know all these comments are written by people who live here
which brings me to the conclusion that they are YOURS!!!So please if you are considering living here try this, come check us out for yourself.Don't let teenagers and thier grief think for you. Stop by and form your own
opinion.
Don't waste your time and money!
Unfortunately, we still live here because our lease is not up yet ... It's pure hell. Management is rude and inconsiderate. Within the first two months, our a/c broke 4 times! Then, when asked for compensation, they offered nothing. I've been disrespected by several agents who either tell me insufficient/wrong information or just hang up on me. Parking is also ridiculous. There is no organization to their system and the lighting almost never works. And safety? It's a joke. My roommate has had her vehicle broken into twice ... And when we asked management to fix the locks because we didn't feel safe? Ha ... It was just a waste of time. They said they fixed it, but our locks are still loose. I could give a list of a million things wrong with this place ... Lack of competent management, safety, pest control, mailing issues, everything. I hate this place and I can't wait to leave ... I would never want anyone to go through the crap we've been through here.

do not at any cost sign a lease here. turn back now! danger! it is very deciving here. they make it seem awsome in the beginning but trust me to good to be true. where to start, there is so much. the first week we moved in..the exaust fan in the bathroom (you know the ones in the ceiling) just kept spitting out big clumps of nasty dust. we called maintinece...it was obviouse the filter needed to be changed. instead they just shook it out and closed it back up. did not fix the dust clump problem. our bathroom sink is always always clogged, the oven is all busted up, nothing ever done about that. not all the light switches work and when i told them about it they told me i was "using them wrong" (what crack head thought up that excuse to tell tenants?)just be honest not all of the outlets work. then they will decide to fix the roof when its hot as hell out and start at 5am when you have work or school and pound away right about you. The girls in the office suck. they dont know what they are doing. the one looks at you like "i dont care what you are saying". and if you dont have a computer i suggest getting one befor you move in because if you think you can wait till you move in to order one...well the "delux" computer lab they claim to have sucks. your lucky if at the most two computers in it actually work. and they never get fixed no matter what you put ini the suggestion box or tell the girls. also the gym or work out room they have also sucks. everything is also broken. one or two things work at a time..and they they break. the pool is dirty. diapers in it...news papers in it. they clean it one in a while.. i think when they know they are gonna get a renting boom. the hot tub is nassty. everything is just unsanitary. oh and they paint the bath tub. when you move in the tub is only white because they painted it white. as time goes by that paint will start to chip. no taking a relaxing bath here unless you wanna get out and have 100000 paint chips stuck to your butt. the laundry facilities also suck. they are also always broken. it is sooooo bad. oh yeah..and one of the parking structures fell recently. that will stay that way for the next year probably. and if your deck or patio faces the parking lot...that sucks for you especially if near a dumpster. you will smell it

Its a One Way
The management staff is horrible, 1/2 don't know what they're doing, the other 1/2 just lie. Living here is a One Way business - its all about them and screwing the hell out of you. Out of town? They'll serve you a 5 day and before you know it, WAY before you know it, they will go to court, have you evicted, ruin your credit report and have the prepared bill for their lawyer fees waiting in your mailbox. Still want to live here? YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!

Blatant disregard for tenant rights.
They are making a cosmetic change to the roof, ripping out my A/C unit in 95 degree weather. It has been over 110 degrees in my apartment for days, the staff does nothing but say "Sorry, there is nothing I can do" and then rudely hangs up on me.
Check the Better Business Bureau, the management here cares only about the money.

DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Water Hazard, Poor Maintenance Staff
My brother and I have been living here for about 13 months, and although there are some things we like about our apartment (big rooms, good location), something bad happens about once every 2 weeks and reminds us of what a dump this place is. #1 problem: the maintenance people. I don't know where the office staff picked these people up, but here's a pointer: being nice and cordial doesn't get our roofed fixed. I'd rather the maintenance people be mean and actually know how to fix something than be nice and no literally nothing about home repair. The problem du jour? Well, it rained last night, so now we have pots all over the apartment to collect water as it leaks through our roof. We wouldn't live here again.

OK
I moved here in February. I like the low price but I am finding you get what you pay for. Overall, the complex is average. The grounds are ok and they try to keep the grounds looking good. I do hate to see people dumping funiture and garbage outside the dumpsters and the staff doesnt take the effort to clean it up. The stuff will sit there for days on end. The apartments are ok. But age and build quality are showing there ugly side. You can hear so much noise thru the walls. There seems to be little insulation, My last electric bill was $177 for a one bedroom. I am never home during the day and I have the air set at 78 or above...$177!! crazy. I have friends who live in a 3 bedroom house and they have electric bills in summer of no more than $210 for a house ! The property was just sold to a new owner...so we will see if things get better or worse.

Lived there for over 11 years
Still live there, just signed new lease. Haven't had any problems with staff or property. Complex recently sold, don't know who the new owning corporation is, so will reserve opinion about future experience, but past has been just fine. Wouldn't have lived there so long otherwise.

Like getting ripped off, stalked and u're car stolen live here
Terrible, the staff is rude. They did nothing about our four instances of crime. I know of five other people who had their apartments broken into. I had someone stalk me and all they offered to do was move me to a different apartment. The pool we live near is green. There are ants everywhere, the appliances are disgusting and old. The first day we moved in our air conditioner didn't work. They didn't fix it until three days later. As you can see hell.

If you get into a nice discount (which they offer often) this place its really worth it. I have a one bedroom (790 FT) for $515. They have great ammenities. Bike Safety is my only concern.

About the fire...
To the ignorant person who claimed I'm "crazy" for thinking they should have done more for me or at least called me on Christmas:

Maybe you have a rich lawyer daddy that can replace all of your belongings that could have been lost in a fire but I don't have that luxury. They most definitely should have called to notify me of the fire on Christmas and should not have left me surprised to come home that evening and find the building in shambles.

I don't care what your father says, I talked to a law professor at ASU after the incident and she said I was perfectly able to sue and had every right to. However, I opted not to because I'm satisfied with what they gave me enough to the point that I can live without anything else.

You will never understand the emotional trauma it caused me when I came home Christmas night to find the building ruined and my cat near death. If you think I shouldn't have been called, YOU are the crazy one.

If you think I don't know who you are either, you are wrong. Take your self righteousness somewhere else because any sane person would want to be called immediately after something as extreme as this.

And by the way, they did NOT help me move. My family and boyfriend's family moved every bit of our furniture. So with all due respect, you need to put your money where your mouth is.

nice place to live
I enjoy my apartment at Desert Palm Village. I just heard about this web site and could not believe what people wrote. I am not a student and do not live here to live the party life. I am well over 40 and have lived her for many years. I stay here because I like my apartment. The prices are good, location is good, things are fixed quickly, the staff is nice and it is my home. I would never base my decision on what some stranger wrote on a web site.

In my experience people who write such negitive things are out to get someone. I am not sure who made them so mad, but you can tell they are. The company is very strict about their policies and I myself have not been happy at times, but they are doing their job. I know that so I let it go.

I would suggest looking at this apartment complex. Oh yeah I just renewed for another year.

I am happy here
I have lived at Desert Palms for 3 years. I always renew becasue they give me good specials to stay. I am almost done with college and will then move into a newer community. I do not need the Ritz while I am in college. I have friends that live all around Tempe in differnt apartments. We all have the same issues. I lived in the fire building that was mentioned by the other writer earlier. According to my Dad who is a Lawyer they really did not have to do as much as they did. I was told from the beginning that the building was being sealed off and I had to move. I did notice a week or so later it was baracaded off and has been ever since. The staff even helped me move my heavy items. I saw them helping my neighbors move. I think that girl is crazy and I know who she is. I sure did not exspect the staff to find me Christmas morning and tell me. The notified me the next day and I am glad. We all got to enjoy Christmas. They are always nice and understanding when I talk to them. As with every situation in life people rub you the wrong way and I am sure that happens in the office.

Staff from Hell
The apartment itself was fairly nice and the staff when we moved in was nice... boy did that change. Aside from that small time when we first moved in the staff has been nothing but pure evil. They refuse to take any responsibilty for anything which means nothing EVER gets done or God Forbid... improved! Try your best to avoid getting lured in by the low price.. it is not worth the mental duress!
