LOUD PARTIES !!!!
I have been living in Desert Palm for couple months, It´s a pretty close to ASU, you can bike for like 10 minutes. That´s the good thing, The bad things are that, THERE ARE ALWAYS LOUDDDD PARTIES every week, even from Thursday night- until sunday, i live in North complex, eventhough i already called the night monitor, it did not do much, They are still doing it. EVen they Yelling out each other when they getting drunk! I am sure sometimes they´s a drug involve at the party, or someone are still underage to drink

Now we´re talking about maintainance, they always say they´ll fixed it blablabla, but they wont do it unless you call and remind them every single days. Sometimes they even close the clubhouse without reason!,

A lot of ppl who live in Desert Palm are too young to have the place of their own, they

FOr security, I have lost 2 bikes so far, and they cant do much about it, but now they have some new bike racks over the complex

Do not live here!!!!!!
DPV is probably the worst apt to live in in tempe. There is a scorpion problem, a crime problem, and a bad management problem. They will tell you one thing and do something completly different. Nothing ever gets fixed and the management seems to belive they know all and you know nothing. The only reason we stayed here was becuase it was close to campus, one of my roomates did not have a car but now he does so we are out of here.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!! YOU WILL NOT LIKE IT!!!
Better Places
I attended ASU for undergrad and did not have transportation but needed to live close by. That is the only reason I stayed and of course it costs money to move, so I stayed to save money. My rent actually went down one year, but... Apartments are poorly insulated so electric bills are outrageuos and you can hear your neighbors cough. The apliances are old and need to be replaced. The tenants leave much to be desired too, the management has tried to "control" parties but its still a problem. It is a party apartment complex. I am also worried because of drug deals that happen under management noses. Many people who live here are just too young to have a place of their own. There are car break ins as well as apartment break ins. People have pets and don´t clean up after them so there is smelly dog poop in the common areas. The north side of the complex is infested with scorpions. There are a lot of problems... but if you want to be close to ASU its safer than Lemon Street which is not saying much.

Horrible and Scary
You will fear for your life if you go out after dark. You are guaranteed at least one stereo stolen out of your car and you may experience a few bullet holes in your car as well. Transients live in vacant apartments. The "security guards" are non-existent. There are constant parties going on well into the morning and drug dealers will approach you while you are laying out at the pool. DO NOT LIVE HERE!

Do Not Live Here!
Unless you like loud annoying neighbors who throw parties constantly, this isn´t the place for you.
My rent was overpriced, the apartments were old, the employees were horrible, and the electricity bill is very high!
Even though it is definetely close to ASU, you can save $250 and move further away from ASU into a brand new apartment. There are nicer apartments than this one!

don´t not move to desert palms village
I am currantly living at desert palms, they have scorpian problem like none I have ever seen, they have the highest crime rate of any appartment I have lived in. They say the will repair all the damaged thing in the appartment once you move in but they never get fixed. The first month we lived there my roommates car window was broken and my car had all four of its wheels and tires stolen! and they do little to slove the problems they know exist. The managers are rude and will promise you one thing and do another. If you don´t want to have the shitest year of your life then stay far away from this place

Consider if you´re an ASU student
These apartments are of good quality and within walking distance to ASU, however you´ll have to deal with LOUD parties and run-around management. The apartments look nice from the outside but are out-of-date and poorly manicured after each resident. The rooms are big which is a plus, and you get covered parking. Overall, this is a good place for the money.

not a nice place to live
Three cars were broken into in front of my apartment. They charge a ridiculous amount for water. Fitness center and pools were not maintained.

good but could be better
Desert Palm is not that bad of a place. I lived in a two bedroom with two other people. Although we did have some bad experiences. For the first year, we had neighbors living above us that loved to move furniture every 15 minutes, they walked with heavy feet and they were constantly hammering. Once they moved out, it was quiet again. Every once in a while one of our neighbors will play loud music or will throw a party. The parties only happen about once a month so that was not a problem.

Our apartment was pretty outdated. It had old, dark brown carpet and dark brown doors and cabinets.

Our bills in the summer, if we kept our A/C at or just below 80 were about $120 a month. Our water bills are about $35.

We had an ant problem when we first moved in but that´s because some of our neighbors left their leaking trash bags out by their doors. We also had a small mosquite problem last summer. Other than that, we never really had any bug problems.

One major problem we just recently started having is that our A/C constantly leaks. We didn´t have any problems with it until this past summer. With this next summer quickly approaching, we´ll see if we have that problem again.

As for the people that work in the front office, they were all really nice. And the maintenance crew was great. If you ever put in an order to have something fixed, they would actually fix it that same day.

Overall, I´d recommend Desert Palm to people who want to live close to ASU and only have a bike available (10 minutes away by bike) to them or don´t mind walking. The rent is a little high but if you split it with other responsible people it´s not too bad. I´m moving out in May and moving into a bigger and better apartment complex. It´s only going to be a one bedroom and I´ll only be living with one person. But the rent is about $100 more. And there is a washer and dryer, and Cox cable and internet (which Desert Palm doesn´t really have access to). And it´s through SRP instead of APS so the bills should be a little lower from what I´ve heard from other people. So, we´ll see how that goes.

Decent place
Good location - close to a grocery store and ASU. The two bedroom apartments were nice and big (when I was there). The walls were not particularly thick - so you could hear your neighbors sometimes and you could always hear your roommates. Overall, it was a decent place.

Nice place in 1990s
I liked living in Desert Palm Village when I was there, although it was a long time ago so it may have changed a bit since then. My rating is based on my experiences while there in 1996-1997. They are pretty nice apartments if you want to live in central/northern Tempe; not as bad as most, and a little cheaper, too. Just watch out for the electric bill. They have APS instead of SRP, so count on high electric bills, say $150 to $250 or more per month in the summer. Also, at least while I was there, they offered cable TV only through Optel, which isn´t good. I had a reoccurring ant problem. It´s not the greatest complex around, but it´s certainly not a dump, either. Overall, not a bad place.

NO, thank you.
As far as apartments around ASU go, this is better than most. (but still bad) The complex is very loud and your electric bill will be shocking. The units are not built too well and leak air badly. While I was there the buildings were tented for termites and we often had sewage back-up in the common areas. Strangely, most tenants at these apartments didn´t seem to mind walking through human waste to get to the parking lot. Spring for a place in Scottsdale and you will be much happier, and only slightly poorer.
