UNBELIEVABLY RUDE STAFF-BENEATH SUBSTANDARD FOR NEWPORT

To say the staff at this fortress from hell appalled me would be a gross understatement. For starters, my electric bills for a non-air-conditioned 515 sq ft apartment were two to three HUNDRED dollars each MONTH! Why? Because the geniuses at Park Newport had my unit wired into three other Townhomes! It took a class action lawsuit to get reimbursement from Park Newport for this. Parking was a complete nightmare (as EVERYBODY) has stated. The burners atop the stove (which were FILTHY upon move-in) were not the correct size for the stove, therefore, I was unable to use said stove for the entire YEAR I was at this pathetic dwelling. For those into kink ? Park Newport is the place to be by golly?.the walls are so thin, you can hear your neighbors blowing in each other?s ears for crying out loud. This is also the place to be if you enjoy cockroaches and ants commingling with your bed sheets and cereal. If you?re disabled in any way, shape or form you will truly revel in the fact that the elevators are functional only 2% of the time! As a tax attorney I fit right in with the stereotype of being a ?clean freak? ? having lived in my unit for exactly the one year lease term (which was one year too long!), I did not have time (even if I WERE a slob) to do any damage to the unit, and yet I received $230 dollars of the $1,800 deposit paid upon move-in (another discrepancy requiring legal action to get BACK). Don?t be seduced by the proverbial tour of the model homes by their Barbie Doll staff ? SANTA ANA would be embarrassed to have this place in their city!!!

    What an awesome place to call home!

    We lived at Park Newport for one year, and the only reason we moved is my boyfriend got a job in Marina Del Rey and the drive was killing him. We had nothing but good experiences here and we both loved it very much! We lived on the Jamboree side pretty close to Jamboree, and we were informed about the noise and while we were there, it never bothered us. The apartment itself was awesome! We paid $1385 for 1200 square feet...in Newport Beach!! You just cannot beat that. When we first walked through the apartment on tour, we knew it was the one for us before we had even seen the whole apartment. We loved the layout, we loved the community, having all those amenities, the market, the gym, the pool, everything. The staff was amazingly nice and courteous. It took us probably 6 months to stop laughing every time we drove past the entrance guard because they wave at you every time you drive by! It was such a nice touch! The maintenance staff was unbelievable. One day I went to start up my car in the parking garage, and my battery exploded right then and there. Every single maintenance person within earshot came running to see if I was okay, to look under the hood, and to clean up the battery acid and help me with a tow truck. That was so nice and unexpected! We never had a problem with parking. Come on, a mere $25 bucks gets you a second guaranteed spot!! Pay up! It´s not an issue at all. And the community is so beautiful, and how nice that it´s right across from Fashion Island. Great location, very safe place to live, wonderful management and staff. Come on, we´ve lived in places where there were problems with bugs and the like and where you don´t even get guaranteed parking! Take a tour and you will not regret it! It was very sad when I had to give my notice to leave. My leasing agent gave me a big hug and the management begged us not to leave. We loved it there and I know you will too.

      Management is Horrible - Towing is Indescriminate and Illegal - Do not Rent Here!

      This apt. complex is horrible. Management is terrible. Towing is horrible. They have towed every resident I know at some point. I have been towed twice even with a parking permit which was issued. There are much better places to live than here. I will be moving following my lease termination.

        Parking is horrible if you have more than one car. Towing is brutal.

        I own three cars and have guest on a regular basis. I have had 2 of my guests cars towed since I have lived at park newport over the past two months. They each had parking passes they recieved from security but as an administrative oversight forgot to have them renewed. Security towed them. Didn´t call and give any warning even though a telephone number and apartment information were furnished for the parking permit. I have had two of my cars towed. Each time costing my $200.00 because they only issue 2 parking passes unless you want to pay for a pass to park your car under the tennis courts which could be an inconvenience due to the size of the complex. I opted to get the overnight pass each day on my way in so I can park closer to my apartment. The problem is if you travel and dont have any way to renew your parking permit they will tow you as soon as they find an expired permit. What ever happened to a courtesy phone call or a couple of days leniency. The people that park in the complex either live there or they are guests. Otherwise customers paying money. I think management may have forgotten about this at some point. The towing is brutal! Each permit contains contact information. A reasonable assumption would be to make an attempt to contact someone if you needed to tow a vehicle. I wouldn´t mind them towing vehicles that were parked illegally, like in a handicapped space without placard or in a loading zone or over a line or something. But to tow guests and residents parked in a space where they live is ridiculous. For christs sake, we live in Newport Beach, not some crappy metro area where people are using parking in one complex for work or shopping in another. After addressing this with management I understand why there are so many other complaints regarding management. Maintenance has been pretty good always showing up to fix everything that keeps breaking. This is an old building and alot of things break. If you decide to move in to this place regardless of all of the negative reviews posted, make sure to buy a sponge for your sponge bath since the hot water only lasts for about 5 minutes if you like to take a shower. My wife and I barely have enough hot water to shower each day. Overall, now, this place sucks! Do not rent here. Do not be fooled. They put on a nice image and it has a great apeal if you are new but my advice is if you still think you may rent from this hell hole, only sign a short lease.

          This Place Tows 20-30 Cars per Night

          Renter beware <br> <br>-Park Newport must own West Coast Towing (they tow every night)- they are ruthless <br>- Very Noisy - Thin Walls <br>- Management is Horrible! - Horrible! <br>- Maintenance is OK - They fix all of the problems you will have if you move in. <br>- Parking is horrible - Cant ever find spaces, did I say towing nightmare for guests and residents even with parking permits - The underground parking leaks will stain your paint and require expensive detailing to remove <br>Dont be fooled by the facade - It looks great yes - Gym is nice - great views yes - but overall is terrible. Don´t rent here -> Go somewhere else if you can. Unbelievable unprofessional management. I think everybody I know has been towed.

            Won´t do it again!

            The complex was recommended by a coworker, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. <br> <br>I was initially attracted to the location, but it´s become very obvious that location is not all it´s cracked up to be. <br> <br>The staff at Park Newport is not Customer Service oriented and the parking situation is ridiculous. They will tow your vehicle and could care less about doing so. Of course, the $200 is not coming out of their pockets. <br> <br>I wish that I had read these reviews prior to moving in as I would have chosen from the several other locations that are immaculate and built in this century. <br> <br>I may not wait for my lease to expire to get out...regardless of the penalties!!

              Park Tow Port

              This place is going down hill. I am not happy with the management at Park Newport. They are mean to people. I do not like the parking. They towed my friend Bobby´s car. I cried! People are always making really loud noised on the other side of my walls. Sometimes I like to listen and sometimes I get sad. People make too much noise you know. But I live here anyways. My apartment smells. I think cats lived in my apartment before me. I have lots of mold in my house. When I cough up my phlem, it is yellow. Sometimes it is green. I wouldn´t rent at park newport if I had a choice.

                  Horrible Place to Live - Look elswhere!

                  Not please at all. My apartment is literally falling apart. Every day something new is wrong. I can´t even take a shower since there is no hot water ever. There is asbestos warning in every part of every complex unit. Not a safe place for a child in my opinion. Towing is nightly. People are always moving in and out. Extremely high turn over. Parkin is horrid. I have heard horror stories with the towing. Lucky I have not had a problem yet however. Many of my friends have been towed this year. I have had good help from maintenance but everything is breaking. It seems like something new every day. I made a bad decision moving into this place but I feel that the look is inticing. Don´t be fooled. I was. Oh my car is ruined by the leaking garage. The paint is beyond repair. Good luck. Don´t rent here.

                    Known as the Newport dump.

                    Lived there for a year. There are much better places to rent in the Newport Beach area then this apartment. <br> <br>It may be ~$100 less than the typical place put you will pay much more than that to compensate for the old, old buildings and inconsiderate management. <br> <br>Your heating bill will be over $150 / mnth becuase the heating is built into the roof and energy effiecincy is zero. <br> <br>The laundry rooms are unclean and the machines do not work well. <br> <br>Did I say the management stinks, compared to other places I´ve lived on socal, meaning they put no effort into maintaining the facilities and making the place confortable for tenants. <br> <br>You´ll save money and hassle by paying a bit more rent in one of the new rental building in newport. Most even have laundry machines in the unit. <br> <br>

                      Reading the other reviews it sounds like the property manager in admin office is the problem, losing tons of money (tenents) for whomever actually owns the property. <br> <br>They are old apartments but they used to have a good name, that is how I ended up there, by referral, glad I did not sign a lease and can move out, after only 3 months! <br> <br>I wonder if the problems started around the same time as hiring the new property manager... <br>

                        Go somewhere else

                        Management is tricky. They´re very nice to you when you´re signing the lease, but after that, they forget about you. When signing the lease, they were the nicest people and answered my question promptly. Now, if I have a question, my voicemails are unanswered. Everytime I go to the office to talk to someone, I´m answered by "the person you need to talk to is not available". They do a good job of bringing in tenants, but not very good with retaining them. I also found out that the laundry facilities are not well-maintained. More often than not, a third of the machines are out-of-order. Parking is horrible and maintenance takes forever to fix something. I was better off signing somewhere else. Good thing my lease is almost up.

                          I read some of your reviews and if I wasn´t living at Park Newport it would have been really hard for me to know which ones were true and which ones were not. <br>Nevertheless, I moved last year and so far I like it a lot... <br>My only advise to people who are looking for a good appartment complex is to come and take a look at this place. <br>Good luck!

                            customer service issues

                            the women in the management office are anything but professional and always a pain to deal with; usually very rude and condescending and with the sky-high rent, it´s not worth it. The buildings are very old and things break all the time. There are many places to live in Newport that I´m sure are much better!!

                              The previous reviewer is most likely another employee who dismisses the hardships of others as "petty". Not only is Park Newport a dumpy, dirty complex, it is full of traffic and mold. Parking is a major problem here as well. Thats not just my opinion its my friends who used to visit me when I lived there. There are plenty of apartments in NB that are not half as busy and are cheaper.

                                Heck, I like it...

                                I started laughing as I read some of these reviews. Honestly, the demographic at Park Newport is 1 - a bunch of well off 20-somethings and 2- the retired crowd. So it´s not all that hard to believe that people are complaining about very petty things. First off, if you don´t have a parking permit, you will get towed... plain and simple and they let you know that right up front. Two, if mind moving vans, speedbumps and maintenance carts perhaps apartment living isn´t right for you. Out of all of the apartments I´ve lived in, Park Newport is at the top of the list... great deal (less than 2,000/mo which in Newport is awesome) for the size (1,500 square feet) and location (1/2 mile from the beach.) I live in one of the townhomes and I love it. The living room is extra spacious, the kitchen is awesome and every place comes standard with a built in wet-bar. Nice. I´ve also had good dealings with the maintanance guy... when one of our windows broke, he replaced it for free... when he didn´t have to. But I guess it´s all in how you deal with people... if you come at them with an "I deserve it" attitude, (which is pretty standard in Newport) you probably won´t get far. If I have any complaint it´s the post 11pm parking situation on the weekends. See... they give out unlimited guests passes and when you have an abundance of 20-somethings in their prime booty-call years, this poses a bit of a problem on the weekends when it´s time to find parking. Eh, but I always manage to find something. Oh, and the area isn´t very conducive to daily shopping... yes you have your Nordstroms and Nieman Marcus right across the street, but only one supermarket within a 5-mile radius and not a Target in sight. But hey... one of the many amenities of Park Newport is that they have a little market/deli right in the complex that has pretty fair prices, so it all works itself out I guess. <br> <br>Don´t listen to the whines... Park Newport is a nice place to live.

                                  Yes the mold will kill you!

                                  I am not going to go into to much detail but lets put it this way. 3 months after our first spotting of mold the Park Newport Apartments have done nothing for us. We have been sick coughing, heavy breathing, blacking out, dizziness, etc. etc. etc. The apartments don´t care, but will soon care when the health department inspects our apartment. There are bugs, which never leave, but we are in a buggy area. The place is run down and old. The staff seems to give as little information as possible and always redirects you to somewere else. We can put up with unpleasant stuff (only some of them),bugs, old apartments, awful parking, but when it comes to our health that is were we put our foot down. This apartment is LITERALLY killing us.

                                    NEVER again!!

                                    This was the worst rental experience of my life...the staff here is so rude and unprofessional..they totally ripped me off on my deposit, i had actually hired a maid service to come in and clean the place and they STILL kept my entire deposit, claiming there were all these bogus repairs they had to make after I moved out, when I challenged the manager on it, and told her I had pictures of the place when I moved out SHOWING no damage, she told me to go ahead and sue them for my deposit, stating in her EXACT words "it wouldn´t be the first time we´ve been sued" such a bit**!!

                                        SCANDELOUS!!!!!!!!

                                        OK!!!! Read the review below this one and you will know what type of a company you are looking at. An employee of the company wrote that review!!! There is another review here of the same nature. The employees here are liars, they will do shady things to get more money out of you. I’m really embarrassed for them. That last review was an advertisement for their apartments and I hope it was as transparent to all of you as it was to me. I just moved out of here last weekend and all I can say is "THANK GOD" The place is falling apart!!!! They paint over mildew, Carpet over cat urine, the place is filthy!!! There were spiders and bugs everywhere!!!!! I had to freeze all of my dry food so the bugs wouldn’t get in!!!! They "SPRAYED" the place a dozen times but it was never any better, the linoleum in the bathroom started to peal up. The list goes on and on OH! And parking a little more than inconvenient, It’s a nightmare! Sometimes, there is nowhere to park! If you have a ground pass, sometimes you just don’t have anywhere to park at all, and the staff will just tell you to drive around for a while till someone leaves!!!! Covered parking is a joke, I have a regular sized sedan and I cant barley get in there; a friend of mine had her car hit when the person next to her tried to park. This place is awful, find somewhere else!!! <br> <br>-A "petty" consumer <br>

                                          I just signed on with Park Newport, despite all the unhappy reviews here, which I already read before-hand. Let me tell you why. I feel that I did my research very well, I went to several communities and researched them all. You will not find perfection anywhere, I can assure you. <br>Some points. First of all, in a medium like this, most people don´t take the time to post unless they are peeved about something and want to air their malcontent. <br>There are over 1000 units I believe, and something like 21 reviews up here spanning time. I´m not saying everyone who lives or lived there that does not post here is happy or unhappy, who knows? <br>In my own word of mouth interactions, I have only heard positive things. <br>The building is very old for OC, and older buildings have problems. It doesn´t take a rocket scientist to go into it not knowing that. That is reflected in the price I am paying myself, and everyone´s lease goes up at any place after they have been there awhile. So, if you could rent in a *new* building in NB, in an equally good location with all the same amenities, why aren´t you? <br> <br>You are getting a discount for the age of the building, they would sock you for even more if it was new. <br>Have you looked around at OC rental prices? There are buildings in Costa Mesa equally old asking for the same general amount I am paying in rent. Where would you rather be?I would rather take copper pipes and thin walls than live in Costa Mesa myself. <br> <br>I can see that it probably has many parties and loud neighbors because of the college crowd. However, I am sure much of that depends on your building. Having so many buildings divided up over such a great space, what goes on in one is unrelated to another (unless its the same type of people.)You can call the police if its after 11pm etc--in other words, YOU can be proactive. <br>In terms of noisy trucks, etc being all around, its a huge complex. You think another one that size would not have the same problem?(Myself, I didn´t see that, but maybe it will happen in time.) <br>Parking is a huge issue, at all places I checked out. I stopped and asked residents about it *every* place I went to and never got an "oh yes its fine!" <br>This is OC, its crowded as hell. At least there is assigned parking for the residents, some *residents* at these smaller places don´t have their own assigned parking, let alone room for visitors. <br>So to me, for what you do get, many of these naysayers seem to have very petty issues in their notes. You have a safe place with security. I can´t say I saw that in many other places (outside of the nicer parts of OC where you will pay a premium to live). You have many pools, some places just have one joke of a pool with screaming little kids 24/7. <br>I appreciate the heads-up about utilities, because I had already wondered about that. In regards to the leasing office, the person that handled me was really good. It is typical at any place that they are real nice to get your $$$ in the door and not as cheerful when it comes down to your complaints. <br>The other downer is no W/D or even hookups in the units, a few places have that and this doesn´t compete in that regard. All these people complaining though, perhaps they should try Newport Bluffs......if they can afford it. <br> <br>

                                            Just to give the public an idea of how to identify an employee review check out the previous one. It seems to me an actual resident wouldn´t have to resort to flaming other reviewers or justifying why they like Park Newport. Not to mention denying other tenant experiences or dismissing them as "petty". Not all residents share the same experiences. Just like I´m not denying some residents will be happy at PN. <br>There are lots of apartments that don´t have the chaos of traffic or noise and much less for your $.

                                              OK the last message before this one was sooooooo written by an employee, you see how conniving these people are. It´s horrible!!!!! Don´t rent here!!!!!!! I can’t wait to get out of my lease. There are places down on balboa three times nicer than this. They Pitch you a seemingly good deal at first, but don’t bite. The employees will flat out lie to your face and don’t even get me started on the leasing office. The parking is a nightmare. The review before the employee written one sounds pretty accurate, a similar situation happened to a friend of mine (now at a different appt.) So basically don´t waste your money or frustration

                                                Awful!!!! Run while there is still time!!!!!

                                                This is the worth place i could have ever imagined living , Its not so bad at first but garanteed your first run in w/ the staff is only the start. On the 11th I went out to get into my car for work and it was gone!!!! , When i went to the office to find out what happened they told me it had been towed , due to no parking permit , they even showed me a slanted picture of my car to proove there was no permit , when I went to go pick up the car "$150"!!!!!!!! , the permit was right there!!!!!! when the staff was confronted about this they said sorry too bad ,The administraitor of this place is the most awful hag you will ever come in contact with , she was rude condacending accusatory , and would not even consider the possability for an employee error , ufourtunatly I just signed a 9 month lease a month ago. Oh and the pools close at 10:00 pm!!!So all i can say is this is a medocre place to live if you ride a bike or walk but if you or any of your friends own a car search elswhere!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                  It´s not all that bad.

                                                  Hi, I have been living here for quite some time. In the beginning the service was good but somehow I feel over the years the maintenance and administration services are declining. The personel do their best to provide and upkeep.It would be better if we residents stop complaining and do something ourselves to upkeep our homes and help the maintainence and administration. We may be paying a lot but it´s far better than owning a house where I have to cut my own grass , and spend thousands more to upkeep my house. I´m happy that I live in Park Newport apartments.
