Dont take my word for it - Go and get a police report
Due to a legal dispute, I had to purchase a police report for this property. If I had this report prior - I would have NEVER moved here. The place is a really bad but don't go on my word alone. Go to the Denver Police Headquarters downtown and get a police report for the complex and the surrounding properties. It will tell you everything you need to know about how this place is operated or not. It will show the crime as well as all the complaints about loud music and rude neighbors. If you read between the lines, you will also see how nonchalant the staff is in regards the proper management of this property.

My personal experience has been with loud neighbors - who after several reports to the staff, speaking personally with the on campus security personnel - only turned his music down after I called the police on him.

In addition, the last time it got cold, I saw a mouse in my unit.

Again, make your decision on objective facts and not someone subjective opinions - PLEASE go and get a police report for all the places you are considering - especially for this place.

I promise you - you will feel better about your next place.

What a joke!
I have a hard time believing any of the positive reviews here could be written by anyone but the management. This place sucks so bad. The manager is totally incompetent. Many of the neighbors are kind of scary.

10 Reasons Why
10. Water is a separte bill and gas is protated by building size and number of occupants which is added to your rent each month. 9. Parking is inadequate and spaces are small. 8. Tenants leave their trash in the hallways. 7. The mailroom is locked after business hours. 6. Management can be rude at times. 5. Walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. 4. The Building and boiler make a lot noise. 3. Maintenance is slow. 2. Tenants let their dogs poop on the lawn and dont clean it. 1. There are rodents and spiders in almost every unit.
one more
Please - Do not rent here
Vassar Place, Dayton Crossing, Glenbrook - are all owned by slum lords. Do not rent from them.

When I first moved in, I was excited about living in luxury - but soon after, I began to see the mice and hear the neighbors' loud music and stomping on the ceiling. Complaints as well as work orders were lost if even logged until I called the police and the health inspector. Please note that water, gas, and trash are added to your rent each month, so they will quote you one price when you sign your lease, but as the months go on the rent will rise. The staff - rude, maintenance - unqualified, and neighbors - will drive you insane. The buildings are secure - however, strangers are known to buzz units and people let them in (so you never feel safe). Please save your money and avoid moving here - you'll only have to move again.

She is still there?
How does that rude woman Robin still have a job? We moved because we bought a house and not soon enough. She was talking rudely to my son and didn't realize I was in the side office. When she saw me she changed her whole attitude and offered my son candy. Somewhat psychotic if you ask me. She must be related to a Simpson. How else could she pull it off keeping her job? They have had some good managers in the past. But they have all left. I wonder if Robin was a part of that.

Bad Place and Rude People
I lived there for 3 months only !
I paid close to $ 1200.00 at month for a
two bed apt. I have a little dog that once
made a little stain in the main bedroom and
when I moved out they charged me $ 1399.00
for replacing the ENTIRE CARPET !!!!!!!
Their excuse was that they couldn't replace
only a portion of the carpet because it wouldn't match !!!!
So be aware that this people will find
the smallest thing to rip you off !!!
In addition, when I tried to dialog with the
assistant manager Jennifer she was rude
and ignorant and hang up the phone to me.

If I was you, I'd go somewhere else !!

Very good so far
I have lived at Vassar Place for 1-1/2 years now, and I am very satisfied so far. I like the staff - I have not had any problems with any of them so far, and they have gone out of their way to help me on more than one occasion, and they have always been very friendly. I had one instance of needing to call maintenance after hours - he arrived quickly and took care of the problem in a friendly professional manner. My only complaint: my car was broken into but they have since hired a security patrol and as far as I can tell crime and vandalism have decreased. I would recommend Vassar Place to my friends.

MANY BAD THINGS
When I first moved in we moved into a corner unit two bedroom. We lost a couple hunred dollars in food until we realized that the fridge was broken. We also couldn't figure out why our master bedroom was ALWAYS freezing and our other was hotter than heck! Our thermostat was broken! We finally had to demand that a new fridge be put in instead of having them keep trying to fix it. The Manager was an idiot, although Robyn was awsome! We paid $120 per month for two garage parking spaces, my husbands truck had a rock the size of a bowling ball thrown through the window and his stereo stolen. We ended up in a one bedroom and over looked a lovely park.

response to "Asst. Manager"
To the person who complained that the asst. is rasict. GET A CLUE!!!! I am a young caucasian and she treats me like ----! She treats my white boyfriend like ----. She treats her co-workers like ----! She hates everyone!!!!

Ok. I have lived here less than a year and am seriously thinking of moving out for two main reasons. One. The people across the hall leave their two dogs alone in the apartment for days on end. Needless to say, the dogs end up peeing inside of the apartment. I do not have any pets at all yet my apartment smells of urine because it stinks up the hallway and gets inside. It is so bad at some points that you nearly vomit just walking in the hall. Number two. The people above us have surround sound and blast their television every single night. I can hear their TV over mine. I have complained about it for over a week and it seems that every night they just get louder and louder. I even called the night time answering service and had them send someone to tell them to be quiet. They only got louder.

Meagan and Blake are amazing! They are the sweetest people. The new manager seems to be doing a good job so far. The main reason for not moving is the location is convient for me and we like the actual apartment. The neighbors however NEED to go!

I also have had very good experiences with the maintanence crew. They are always very curtious and get the job done quickly. Granted things are falling apart. A piece came out of my microwave (scary!) and quit a few tiles have fallen off of the kitchen counter. But these things are to be expected with old buildings/appliances.

Overall I love my apartment and the managment, but I hate my neighbors! O! and the complex across the street is complete trash!!! Hence the reason for the vandalism and recent crimes.

asst. mgr
Asst. mgr is a fair housing nightmare. She is kind to you if you give her gifts, and are young and caucasion.
If you are a minority, old, or do not give her gifts, she is extremely rude, arrogant and unprofessional to you.
Simpson property has a lawsuit in the making with her. If you research your Fair Housing rights (go on the web). You will see that she does not comply with the Colorado laws. So not only does she have terrible interpersonal skills, she is breaking the law.
She and Simpson have been fortunate (so far), not getting sued. Don't just move her office, get rid of her.

A New Manager
I think with the new manager, this place is turning around. I love it here, I have lived here for five years. Yes, I too have had probhlems with the asst manager, I do not deal with her at all. The new manager has moved the asst. back into the back office where she belongs, she doesn't need to deal with the public. So far I have seen good things. The new manager actually returns calls, she cares about people and their problems. The grounds are cleaner than they have been in a long time. She threw a nice resident party in February. She is good and just what the property needs!!! I like the change!

Not the best place
I have lived in many cities all over the united states. I'd have to say the grounds of Vassar are the prettiest. The tenants are sooo loud. I live near a maintenance employee who is constantly having parties at all hours of the day. The apartment is falling apart. Tiles are coming off and the cabinets are breaking. Security is a huge issue. Just a month ago a girl was held at gunpoint outside her building. The mailroom has been broken into and vandalized three times in one month. Lights are smashed constantly. I definitely wouldn't recommend living here if you are a single girl or elderly. It is not a safe place to walk to and from your car. Parking is crowded, unless you want to buy a space for $60 a month underground. Overall, this is not the best place I've lived in.

First. Don't assume that people have friends that write reviews for people when they don't! If this is a true review then take it at face value. Don't be upset just because you don't have friends that would stick up for you. If this person truely lives here then deal with the opinion. Vassar is a wonderful place to live except for the assistant manager. Deal with that too ok!

I love it
I moved in a few months ago. I absolutely love it here! I love my apartment, I love the view. I have not had any problems with noise or my neigbors with noise that goes above and beyond normal. The staff have always been helpful, if I leave a message they return my calls within 24 hours. Maintenance came to repair some stuff in my apartment the day after I called it in. He was very friendly and professional. All the staff that I have met have been nothing but helpful and friendly.

I love my apartment. I love the fact that I do not have to go into the cold to get into my car, because of the multi car garage. I love the fact that I do not have to go outside to throw my trash away, there is a trash chute on every floor. The elevators are a GREAT . The lobby is so beautiful and always clean. The ponds and the landscaping are beautiful and peaceful.

I read some of the complaints on the site and I have to say that people are not really paying attention to the bigger picture. Yes, there is some noise, these are apartments. They said that their cars have been broken into. I have lived all over Colorado and this problem is all over Colorado, all over the world.

I love living here! My parents say that this is the best place I have ever lived. They want to live here! So I reccommen living here 100%.

consider other place...
I live in this apartment, and the place does have problems with theft, noise and management.
I parked the car in the garage that underneath the unit I live. It got break-in. I can not believe that everybody has free access to get in the garage. It obviously does NOT have no security other than avoid the damage from weather.
Another thing that I can not stand is the tenant live above, he makes lots of noise during the day and night. He usually takes shower around 5am and walks around or moves furniture around until 3am. I can exactly tell where he walks to. I’m so curious why I can hear the heavy footstep from the ceiling if the building has well sound proof. We asked the manager to send him a notice to maintain quiet from 10pm till 7am. The manager could not be able to contact him because the phone number they had is wrong. They upset me because the managers did not even attempt to contact him for the correct number.
The asst managers were good to us when we first moved in, and they changed their attitude after a while. Ever unit has a free storage, but it does not guarantee the storage will be in the same building. The asst manager promised would notify us when there is available in our building. Until now, 1.5 years later, she told us go check out by ourselves after we asked her if there is any.
I have to agree that one of the asst managers is not good to deal with at all. I’ve been treated like a slave one time in the office. The asst manager pointed me to life up the package from the floor while the rest of staffs were talking and joking.
The rest of them are pretty, sweet, nice, but liar.

Good price, okay place to live
I have lived here almost 2 years and was really happy until about 6 months ago. The building I live in is full of residents that have been here 5, 10, and even 12 years. Now some are moving out and younger or should I say messy residents are moving in. On the weekends they leave trash in the elevators and beer bottles in the lobby. I do see the cleaning crew often, but still have to deal with the mess over the weekend.

As for the Assistant Manager, She has been great to work with! I would rather deal with her then anyone else!

to the person who commented on asst mnger 5/31
Hello. To the person who posted 05/31/04. You mentioned that the asst mngr was worst of all.

I don't know if this is allowed on this site, but I was wondering if you could expand on this comment. If you don't care to, or it could jeopardize you feeling comfortable, etc.... I completely understand.

I have had a lot of problems with the same person, so this is why I am asking. I am wondering if you were able to resolve any problem you had with this person.

I have heard things in passing from other tenants, but it seems maybe you have had a problem too.

I was recently told about this site, and when I read this, another person thought maybe I could get some help on here as well as rating the property.

Thank You.

An unhappy tenant with to long left on the lease term.

I would not reccomend
I would not suggest anyone I know to move into Vassar place apartments.
Seems the place is having a lot of problems with theft, crowding, noise, and the appliances and apartments as I read in another post are highly outdated for the cost. I was extremely disappointed when I moved in, as the carpet being light colored looked as old as the apartments, very dirty with spots that would not come out. The apartment smells old and moldy. I am not sure they even cleaned the apartment before I moved in. I have noticed them changing carpets recently, so maybe new tenants get a cleaner or better updated apartment. I don't think they do this for existing tenants, so many people transfer to other units in hopes to get a better place. And the parking garages? They are a community garage below each building, and you must pay to park here. Thing is, anyone can get in there, so it is mostly for shelter, it offers no protection against auto theft or vandalism, but good for the weather elements.
Yes, the grounds are pretty for the most part, but for the money, you can get far better accomodations.
I would just suggest asking if things will be updated, and I would certainly check around for what is in your budget . You may get a way better deal.
Oh, I must agree with the post I read as well again. The asst manager is not a person who should deal with people. A few of the other gals in the office are very nice though.
