Our Rental Experience
We are winter renters at Lake Gray and this makes the second year we have stayed here....The first year we were in an apartment away from the lake and my husband would walk to the lake each day to feed the geese and ducks.....this year we were able to get into an apartment that was on the lake and we have enjoyed being able to sit out and watch the waterfowl, otters, and birds and he has been involved with feeding them and talking to them and even got them to eat out of his hand....the apartment is great....we come from Vermont and they provide us with a totally furnished apartment which makes it so easy to enjoy the winters without all the hassle of bringing more than our clothes, and personal items....the staff, especially Cheryl and Chris have made our time here relaxing and wonderful....nothing has been overlooked or forgotten when we have had any issues...we hope to continue with future years here....

It WAS a great place to live
When I first moved in it was like heaven on earth considering my previous apartments. A few months into living here my neighbors upstairs STOMP so hard it sounds like a classroom full of children just running back and forth. Then my neighbors next door obviously don't know how to shut a door! They slam their door so hard my walls shake! I've called the front office complaining over and over again and NOTHING gets done. My husband had confronted the neighbors upstairs and they knew exactly what they were doing because they said oh no one has come up to complain..even though I had called the office 3 times! All they said was oh we'll send them a nice letter. BULLCRAP! Then I called the office about the people next door..these people slam the door but also are in the hallways cackling and laughing and just being obnoxiously loud. There are families here with young children like myself. There are times when my husband is home he has to wake up at 4-5 in the morning. It doesn't help when people are stomping above us and then slamming the doors next to us at all hours of the night. I am fed up with this sorry place and I can't wait to MOVE!

great place for the young and professional
The apartments are very beautiful. If I had been young and in a roommate situation this would be someplace I would be very happy to stay long term. The grounds here were not properly graded by the builders and the lovely green space between each building tends to flood. The social life around the pool is very active. The problem is the people ignore the rule about no beer at the pool and it makes it a bit too active for young children. If you want your children to play you have to take them to the tot lot in the mall as there is no suitable place (due to aforementioned flooding)for them to play. Plenty of people with kids do live there so it must work for them. There is plenty of parking but usually none close to the building, especially late at night. Many pet owners do not bother to pick up after their animals even though the complex provided clean up baggies at numerous places around the complex. There was rarely a noise problem. Sometimes loud car stereo music, but I have never found a place where that isn't an issue. The front office staff was always kind and helpful.

WE LOVE LAKE GRAY APARTMENTS!!!
Lake Gray is very clean, quiet, well maintained and beautiful inside and out. The best part of Lake Gray is the wonderful staff. Today, my girlfriend and I, both residents for almost two years, went out to dinner. Upon leaving the restaraunt, I realized the keys were locked in the car. We called Cheryl, the assistant manager, who has always been a tremendous help to us whenever we have needed anything. She informed us that the new manager, Chris, would drive to the restaraunt, pick us up, bring us home to get a spare key, and drive us back to our vehicle at the restaraunt! They went above and beyond excellent service and deserve to be recognized for it. We couldn't be happier with our apartment our the wonderful staff at Lake Gray Apartments. Thank You Lake Gray staff!

Excellent place to live
As a result of a job promotion I recently moved from Lake Gray Apartments after a two year tenure. My experience in those two years were outstanding, had it not been for my promotion I would have continued to live at Lake Gray Apartments. The location was ideal, very secluded, very little traffic flow. Parents have the ability to allow there kids to play outside without fear of speeders or heavy traffic flow. The staff is excellent. Great feedback and prompt follow-up on any concerns. Cheryl and Shannon were more than helpful and supportive towards me with my initial move-in and also my exit from Lake Gray Apartments. They were very "down to earth" and "people friendly". They always maintained their professionalism while still remaining relative and helpful which is sometimes lost in the role of the professional. Again,Lake Gray is an excellent place to live. If the Lord directs me back to Jacksonville, Lake Gray will be my home once again. Thanks for the wonderful experience Lake Gray.

cant get better
Well I've lived here for almost 4 months. New to Florida, asked around NAS where to go and I was told to come here. From the time that I walked in the door that first day, I have been nothing but happy and satisfied. This place is hidden, the prices are great for my pocket, my neighbors are all in my age. When I came here, I wanted my keys the same day and I left with my Keys. Moving from across the US is stressful and I felt at home. If I ever have any problems with my apartnent they are here to fix it right away, they have provided me with paint at no cost and even put up my fan in my room and I did'nt pay for any work. The pool is always open. The gym is small but it works for me cause its 24 hours. the office help is always nice and impressive and are alway making sure I am not having problems. Serive at its best. my apartment has everything I need and more. If you dont believe me, you sure are missing out on the best thing. I know this is where I will live til I am deployed

BLAH!
I had problems as well throughout my stay at Lake Grey. My carpet had bad stains on it, we were constantly having issues with our ac, our weather strip was torn and then fixed and tore the same day so bugs, hot/cold air and dirt was constantly being let in, the bedroom door knob was turned the wrong way and was never fixed like promised. On a lighter note, the main office lady, Shannon Gill is such a high spirited, well trained and energetic worker. She takes pride in her work and is always more than helpful. She always has a smile on her face and never denies you for questions. She never seems to busy to speak with your! She is the brightest worker in the Lake Gray office and most helpful worker in there as well. I wouldn't want to deal with anyone but her!! As far as the other people in there, they aren't very friendly, they can actually be ------ at times and they aren't helpful. Unfortunately they lost Hope because she was great too. Other than the 2 of them (Shannon & Hope) I don't even like talking to anyone else!! Thanks Shannon for all the help!! You've been wonderful!! Keep up the great work!!

Would not recommend
Since day one I've had problems with these people. I am military and have show nothing but respect and understanding to this complex. 1st- They would not sign my inspection sheet provided from the housing office w/o passing me off to the maintance then back to mgt. 2nd- they wouldnt let me see the apartment until the day I moved in. The apartment had many issues and maintance did the least amount possiable to fix these issues. 3rd- I moved in with the understanding that my dog is a mixed breed and that seemed fine, until a maintance guy saw pitbull books in my apartment from a previous dog I already gave up....No i'm expected to give up my 10 week old puppy on the grounds that she MIGHT be mixed with a agressive breed. The ladies that will rent the place are amazing, friendly, caring people but the mgt seems to be the muscle. Not to mention some guy tried breaking into my car AND steal my bike in the middle of the day, the cops didnt even show. Like I said problems from day one....

check it out
i've been living at lake gray since 06' and i've got to say, this place is the best. westside is the location but its nothing like you think. my needs are always met and more. the parking can sometimes be hard to handle but its in most cases tolerable. each year when my lease up, i do debate to move to a house but the office especially shannon have talked me into staying another year. all of them there are great and i can consider them friends but shannon goes above and beyond. sheryl is always great when it comes to rent and if people happen to get behind. these ladies are what make this complex comfortable for everyone and they are the reason people stay. i highly recommend everyone to lake gray, just for the customer satisfaction i get and many others.

HOOOME
I moved here from New York and what a transition it was. I must say that I did not understand the true value of leaving where you're welcome until I moved at Lake Grey Apartments, from their humbly given fresh baked cookies to the monthly events that allow tenants to mingle, it just can't get any better. I wonce had to ask one of the staff member what do they get for free that allows them to be so welcoming and receive a smile as answer, must say got to love the unique SHANNON. Take it from me specially if you have a family, this is a great place to live!!

Lake Gray!!!!!
I am proud to call Lake Gray my home. The complex is always very clean. The only bad thing is the trash, when it breaks all the trash gets built up but first thing the next day those problems are taken care of. The office staff has changed a bit but their morals have not changed. Hope moved me in and it was the best transition I have had to make, my husband is in the navy and out on deployment during most of our stay here and the whole staff has taken care of me and my girls. Ill tell everyone to go to Lake Gray when they move to Jax.

My family and I lived at Lake Gray for 3 years and we never had any major problems. They kept us informed when something was going on and like anywhere else there are bound to be a few issues. Parking could be a bit of challenge but not nearly as bad as some people are saying it is/was. The staff was always polite and I never once felt like just another rent to check or paycheck to anyone there. If I had a maintenance issue they were on it right away no matter what time it was. When we moved out they didn't try and charge us for anything, we cleaned like any other person would and everything checked out fine. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, Lake Gray is nice place.

Lake Gray on my side
I have been living at Lake Gray for the past two years. I am a single mom who is always taken care of here. They have a awesome maintenance group that respond to my apartment in good time. The office staff is just as nice as you can get and are always more than happy to satisfy my needs. I have worked with the same girl since I have moved here and she is more like a friend to me now. The apartments are nice and big and have everything that a person could need. From the washers and dryers to the large bathrooms. The only negative thing I can say about Lake Gray is when I renewed my lease I had to purchase renters insurance and that didnt even cover my personal belongings. Other than that, Lake Gray has everything A single mom, family or friends need. Awesome pool, nice gym and a beautiful lake. As far as I am concerned Lake Gray is on my side.

lake gray is a nice place to stay
i dont know what these other tenants are talking about but this apartment complex is definitely above average in looks, maintenance, and staff-wise. clean apartments that you can have sprayed for free every week to keep out bugs, parking is perfectly fine - i never have to walk past more than 6 or 7 cars to get to my complex. the staff is really nice and considerate. i recommend this place to potential tenants. the only thing i dislike off the top of my head is that the area has small indoor centipedes in the apartments. they're harmless but annoying to me.

THE PARKING IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!!!!
There are only a few parking lots for everyone who lives here. Waht is sad about this is that they don't care about it... Its common sense to assign a parking spot to every apartment.

RUDE AND UNWELCOMING
I agree, except for Hope, the manager, the rest of the office staff is rude and inconsiderate. Our neighbor placed several "false" complaints against us and even though they were not in any way true, we were asked to leave. I had lived there for 2 years and never had any issues until these neighbors moved in (2 months prior to me being asked to leave). Children are unwelcome here. I was dating a man with children and they would come over but they couldn't even so much as put their feet on my floor, let alone be outside to play. Lake Gray made it known that children were not wanted outside or to move around in the apartment in any shape/form/fashion. I was told I was walking my dog without a leash, but that was not true as our dog is old and not friendly w/strangers so I always made it a point for her to be on aleash. in fact, it was one of their employees walking their dog w/o a leash. another complaint was that we were on our patio talking (although it was at a normal conversational level), the neighbors didn't like it so they asked us to leave. It's worth the money to buy a washer and dryer and move somewhere else!

Loving Life @ My New Home
Lake Gray has the best of everything. Minutes from shopping and the interstate but we are not right on top of it all. The office staff treated us nicer and more professional than any of the other six places we looked at. We moved in almost 2 months ago and so far we are very happy. This is the first place that maintenance actually finishes the work order. All my neighbors are friendly and I would recommend it to anyone.

Consider somewhere else
I have lived in this apartment for almost 6 months, and wish i had only signed a 6 month lease. The apartment office staff are rude, inconsiderate, and do not follow up on complaints unless consistantly reminded. They are very unprofessional. The carpets in the apartment are low quality burber carpets, tons of dust coming out of the vents, noisy, inconsiderate neighbors, and don't let me get started on the maintainence staff. The only perk of these apartments is that they have all the appliances included. But I would much rather have to buy a washer and dryer then have to deal with noisy neighbors and a rude office staff.

Loving life here!
I have been a resident here at Lake Gray for two years now and have never had any problems. The staff has always been very nice and helpful with any problems that I've had ( not that there has been very many ) I come into the office at least once or twice a month just to say hello. It has always felt like home here and the staff has become like my children. They take care of me (even come over anytime I call just to take out my garbage for me because I can't lift it) They come to my door and pick up my rent check so that I don't have to get out. This is the place I have chosen to live out my days here.I love it here and would strongly reccomend life here!

Happy Here
We are into our 2nd year at Lake Gray, while I understand some of the other buildings do have limited parking, we are lucky in building 8. Plenty of parking and has ample outside lighting. We chose to live on the 3rd floor and have no noise problems,(we were smart enough to request a 3rd floor corner apartment). Only hear an occasional door slamming by some clown down below. The grounds & pool are well maintained. I have read the complaints of some of the others, whats this dust issue??? We change the a/c filter once or twice a month and even with the balcony door open alot have no major dust problems. When we called about the a/c not cooling the maint. man was here withing 30 minutes, and had it fixed in a very short time. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I can only hope when and if we have to move we luck out again like we did this time.

airconditioning and sprinklers
We complained about our airconditioning unit atleast, ATLEAST, 4 times to the maintenance dept. The airconditioning unit in the apt would freeze over and stop working. This was during the summer!!!!! Finally one day, we had gone out to eat and when we came back an hour and a half later, we saw one of the maintenance guys moving huge hoses around. He asked if we lived on the third floor and we told him yes and he said to expect a flood when we got up to out apt. Surely, we got up there and our WHOLE apartment was flooded out. The apartment complex wanted to hold us responsible because "what had happened was" our air conditioning unit had overheated, sparking a fire, and setting off the sprinklers cuasing 15,000 gallons of water to be spilled. Of course they told us that the fire alarm wasn't working and they had no idea what was going on in the apt till the downstairs tenants called and complained of water coming out from thier ceiling fixtures. Thank god we had kept records of our complaints of the unit not working and we were able to fight off the allegations of us being negligent in the apt. But for 4 days we could not live in the apt and when they finally was able to vaccum all the water out the apt smelled of mildew and mold for many months after!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take the good with the bad
I've been at Lake Gray since July 2005. Overall, the place is decent. Most of my neighbors are nice and I'm situated in the back of the complex where not much goes on. In addition to the complaints of others (parking and lighting especially), there are two things I would like to add. The bedrooms are set up awkwardly making it nearly impossible to get a decent piece of furniture in them. And the office staff has ongoing issues with paperwork. I'm not sure how many times I've been questioned about signing a lease or not keeping our records up to date. The staff are always nice and cordial, but I believe some (not all) are inexperienced when it comes to keeping things organized. We've paid rent and had staff call to tell us we were paying the wrong amount... for 6 months! I think they have fixed that problem, I don't believe that particular staff member still works there.

Property is very well maintained and the staff has always been helpful. I haven't had any issues like the other reviewers have had. I was on this site to look for an apartment closer to my new job and saw all the negative remarks. Just wanted to give a positive opinion, it seems like those are harder to come by these days. You usually only hear the bad things.
