I hope you like noise
Monroe Place Apartments would be an excellent community to live in if the following changes would be made to the property:

Higher fences around the commity to avoid people jumping the fences and stealing stuff out of your car. My car was broken into two months after I lived there and they took my cd player.

Sound Barriers are put up to aliviate some of the noise coming of the street. If you do plan to move here do not sign a lease for the 7 building. I live in that building currently and I can not even open my windows due to the severe noise that comes off the street and interstate 85. It is ridiculous.

The staff would have to be more attentive to the concerns of their residence. There is absolutely no sense of urgency for anything here.

Please read - think - consider your options
This is the worst apartment community I´ve ever lived in!

1.The staff is rude and incompetent - probably due to the fact that the entire time I lived at Monroe Place there was no property manager. When there was a problem, the regional "manager" (?) Teresa was the point of contact. Teresa was hateful and very ANTI-TENANT (you know, those of us who were paying her salary?)

2. The walls are so thin that In could hear the circuit boy downstairs having sex parties at all hours of the day.

3. The water was off for two days and not one apology from the office staff. (Remember, there was no property manager.)There was no rental allowance for this HUGE inconvenience. What a laugh - this type of customer service would have never happened in a Post or a Lincoln Property.

4. Parking? Forget it. The "couresy" (?) officer even parked in the designated handicapped spaces and the office staff laughed about it and told me that if I had a problem with this, perhaps I should call the Atlanta Police Department! How is THAT for sorry customer service?

5. Cheap fixtures - when I secured my apartment with a $445.00 deposit (yes, that is correct - a $200 "fee" for the privilege of leasing here, a $200 refundable deposit - be sure you read the VERY fine print of your lease if you live here, and finally a $45 application fee.) I was promised "new" carpet. Well, on my move-in date, the carpet was new, however, it was the CHEAPEST grade of carpet available. They might as well have installed astroturf in the apartment. It sure would have been better than what they used in the apartment I rented.

6. The signage in front of the property on Monroe Drive reads "Upscale Apartment Residences". This is grossly misleading. Cheap laminate countertops, vinyl flooring installed over existing flooring with the pattern of the first floor showing through the top layer of vinyl. The brass door knockers and doorknobs are tarnished, the green paint on the doors is faded....and to top it all off - the sign out front is nothing more that rotten wood with chipped paint.

7. Residents are billed by a third party billing service for water and sewer - interesting that the billing agent charges a "fee" for sending a bill to the tenants. Just another way for this property to make a buck off of the tenants.

8. As a gay man, I´ve always enjoyed living in midtown Atlanta. However, life at Monroe Place Apartments was much like that of a gay bath house! Cruising, promiscuous men walking the property at all hours of the night . . . . . definitely NOT a place for someone with more conservative values, gay or straight!

I can go on, but I will stop here. I encourage all readers to see for themselves just what a second rate community Monroe Place really is. This is at best, a class "C" property. Call and schedule your own personalized tour of the gay ------ today. I´m sure the staff in the office will tell you "whatever you want to hear" in order to rent you an apartment. Oh, and by the way, please mention to Teresa that you read this posting on apartmentratings.com. It seems that this property has had a history of unsatisfied tenants and for some strange reason, the postings on this site have been removed.

If your not Gay, this is not the place for you
I can pretty much tell you that if you are a straight person you will not want to live here or likely even be approved. In the past I have heard so many quarrels from gay lovers and you can check with a.p.d. on the little love bird fights they have over here. It is getting out of hand

This was one of the best places I´ve ever lived!!!!
I had a top floor apartment with hardwoods. I lived there for 2 years and the only thing I didn´t like was that if you forgot your gate pass at home, the after hours desk won´t open the gate for you. I came home from an out of town trip and left my pass at my parents house (my dad said he threw it away because he didn´t know what it was), but the apt. complex charged to get another one. Parking isn´t the best either. But the location is just great. It´s in the city, but in the cut so it´s not that accessible. The parties by the pool could get loud once in a while but it seemed as though the demographics of must of the residents were the same so it didn´t matter much.

This complex would be one of very few referrals of rental properties here in Atlanta.
