DO NOT LIVE HERE
This is has got to be the worst place to live for the money! Definitely not worth the $700/month i pay for my one bedroom. The kitchen is super small and dark with a few tiny cabinets and 2 tiny drawers for utensils, and a small Fisher Price sized stove, the windows in the bedroom might as well not even be there, they don't lock or close properly so it gets freezing cold in the winter and scorching hot in the summer, also the train runs right next to my bedroom so every 15 mins one comes blarring the horn like no tomorrow, I asked to be moved to another unit not so close to the train i was told by office staff to just drink chamomile tea before bed and i'll sleep right through it, and i'll get used to it eventually. the heating and air is a JOKE..and needs to be upgraded. I've asked for the windows to be repaired, and its never done right, i've just given up on that one! the bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation, the tubs are old and get soiled easily, and are hard to clean, the water quality is very poor here, i filled up the tub for a bath and noticed the water had a brownish hue, not to mention the fact that I had to drink it out of desperation for a couple days when i was sick and had ran out of bottled water, my face broke out in acne for the first time in my life. and i've saved the best for last...BUGS!!! this place has got them all..in large quantities. ROACHES, ROACHES and more ROACHES!! All together this place SUCKS take your hard earned money somewhere else!!!

Its hit or miss
I've lived here for about a year and a half and I am happy to be leaving. I've occupied two different apartments in this short time. The first apartment was infested with bugs; the residents in the next building seemingly had no job and always hung out in the parking lot. In addition the kitchens are super small; my kitchen in college was larger than these. I renewed my lease (6months only) because I was lazy and didn't look for anything else. But I did move to a different building so far not too many complaints. As for the community the gate is always broken and within this year and half the increased criminal activity has been too much for me. I m approaching the end of my lease and couldn t be happier. These apartments are old they need to be renovated, and security needs to be reinforced. I must say that the staff has been nothing but nice. So if you re considering this place make sure you see the actual unit, try to get a unit that is not near the woods (it cuts down on the pest), and scope out the neighboring buildings.

Its a nice place
Tamarron is a nice place to live, I have lived here 3 years and I haven't had any major problems. The staff is really great especially Eboni she is a wonderful person, very personable and understanding. I will recommed this place to anyone.

no problems so far
My boyfriend and I moved here August of last year. It has been a pretty good experience so far. We've only seen two roaches in the apartment and when we notified the office of this they quickly came out to spray and everything has been great since. This is a pretty quiet community(at least the section we live in) and it is so convenient to work and to downtown.

Never Again!
After living here for a year, I must say that this place is a dump. A week after moving in, our water heater busted and flooded our apt and ruined our brand new carpet! A month after that, the sprinkler system started to leak through our ceiling and was never repaired. IN fact, I am still looking at the gaping hole in the ceiling right now! On top of that we seem to have the loudest neighbors in the world! I finally went up there to tell them to shut up and there was 15 kids all under the age of 12 dancing in the living room! Then the near by train honks all through out the night, multiple times a night! Our gas stove is the size of a playskool stove and half the time it didn't work. Our utility bills are sky high! Why in the world would a water bill be $80 and our gas bill over $150??? Our heat never worked. We would have it blasting and still be freezing cold! Then when our lease was coming due to expire, they had the balls to send us a note saying "we would love for you to stay but we are raising our rent by $50" HAHAHA YEAH RIGHT! So all in all, this place is not a place I would reccommend to anyone! Dont move here!!!

Not too shabby.
Well, mold's a problem. Bugs can be a little invasive if you don't have your windows locked down. The A/C units are pathetic and frequently freeze up (once or twice a week for us). That being said, the maintenance team was always quick to fix it, and you can get your apartment sprayed once a week for bugs, for free, so if things get out of hand, you're not entirely blameless.

The staff was great, they knew who we were and ask about how we're doing and about my parents (who had to stay here during Katrina), and that means a lot to me. However, it's possible to find a larger place for less in the immediate area, so we're not staying much longer.

On the whole, our stay here over the years wasn't unpleasant but, well, birds weren't singing outside my window and a rainbow didn't end at my doorstep or anything.

You Could Do Worse
I have lived here for some time now. You have good moments and bad moments. One nice thing is the same office staff has been here over 4 years. Can't really say that for other apartment complexes. The office staff has always been friendly and understanding, but only can do so much with the tools that are given them. Remember, these folks just work in the office, handle calls, paper work etc. They do not make the financial decisions as far as how much is spent to pay people here or the money paid to contract folks to come in and do a job either. The on-site maitenance fellas are as competant as you can get for what they pay them to do. For the most part they can fix just about anything that goes wrong but as with anyone entering your home to make a repair, you have to watch them and make sure they get it right the first time. Yes, I have had several major inconveniences while living here, but there is far worse out there.

If you chose to reside here, understand these facts up front and then make your decision:
1. There is a train that passes by frequently throughout the day and night and you can hear it. Really it's no big deal as you'll get use to it.
2. The walls and floors are paper thin. If you live under someone you'll know when they use the facilities, if they sneeze, what they are saying on the phone, conversations with someone else in the apartment. Basically you have no privacey living under someone.
3. Yes, the complex is somewhat old and Fogelman who owns the property has not done any updating. Windows occassionally leak, waterheaters are old if they haven't been replaced due to busting. There is water damage evident along floor boards, walls, ceilings etc. But can be covered up with paint.
4. Appliances are old and could stand to be replaced.
5. Yes, the maintenance staff is overwhelmed and short staffed. Since this is an old complex, something is always going wrong and it's usually major. You just have to stay on top of your request for something to be fixed and understand that they'll be there when they can.
6. Remember this, always keep a smile on your face and be polite when dealing with the folks in the office. Being nice goes a long way to getting what you want rather than being mean. LIke I said, they can only do for you what they can with what they have.

Overall, Fogelman could stand to invest in a major renovation of each apartment as someone vacates.

For the price, space and location, this is a good deal for the money. It's far from ideal or perfect, but it's somewhat acceptable if you are willing to accept it isn't a Post Property, whereby you'll pay out the nose for an apartment the size of a shoe box.

only live hear if you have absolutely no where else to go
The first 9 monthes were great. I had not one problem. Since life was so great here, I signed a 1 year lease and then thats when everything fell apart. The maintence staff is horrible. It will take them up to 2 weeks to fix something or they dont come at all. YOu have to constantly harrass them to get anything fixed. The maintence staff and the office staff do not seem to communicate with each other. THere reasoning for maintence taking so long is because they are short staffed or they didn't know about the problem. I had constant leaks in my bedroom closet and in my leaving room. I had mole growing out of my closet. It took them two weeks to come look at it and they only reason they came to was because I called corperate. THey never discovered where the water was coming from. I have leaks in my ceiling and all they did to fix it was paint over it. If maintence does come they do not let you know if they been in your apartment or if anything was fixed. They do not clean up there mess after they fix things. Sometimes they forget to lock the door back to your apartment. Every bug known to man lives with me in my apartment. No matter how much they spray. THe property hasn't been renovated in a very long time, if at all.

It's been okay
Tamarron at Vinings is a pretty okay complex. I have lived here for a couple of years and my only reason for leaving because I switched jobs. The staff is great (especially Robert). However, the apartment was a little small (kitchen) and all the appliances needs to be replaced. In the beginning it was pretty good. I did have a problem with a water spot in my bedroom ceiling. It wasn't too bad because I never complained. The neighbors are nice too. I must have been lucky because there was always singles moving to my building. Plus, I live right in the front so I was blessed not to be bothered by children. I can tell you that the maintenance staff is pretty slow. For small repairs they are responsive, but anything outside business hours you cant find them. The gate barely worked. When it did it caused problems. Especially, when youre trying to sleep and early travelers are trying to leave. Ive had to call maintenance a couple of times (which they never responded) to come open the gate. One time it got so bad that when it was finally time for me to leave, everyone was still trying to figure out how to open the gate. The tile in my bathroom kept popping out as I was showering (which means they broke into pieces). When they finally came to fix it, I saw they glued all the pieces back together and then back on the shower. Tiles continue to fall. I wish I knew the genius that designed the huge window in my shower. I have taken a shower in the dark since I've moved here, not to give the guest a silhouette show of me taking a bath (remember I lived next to the entrance). Overall, it was not a bad place to live. Its convenient to Downtown, major highways, shopping, airport, and there is a grocery store that you can walk to. It was my first apartment when I moved to Atlanta in 2003 and I've couldn't have chosen a better spot for the money and location.

I HATED THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!
This was the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment.......Fist I loved the apartment it was big, quite and convenient.....But then the truth come out I had a leak in my ceiling over 3 time and the first 2 were not that bad...I guess cause all the maintenance did was come and paint over the water spots but the worst thing was the last water leak it was right over my bed and they had to cut a whole in the ceiling and left the whole in the ceiling dripping for a week straight.....smelling like mildew.....But the worst of all are the bugs...I promise I am not from GA but I know how the bugs can be. I have never seen flying cockroaches and when I complained Peggy the Manager did not due anything so I had to live with house guest who eventually took over and kicked me out.....literally cause I moved as soon as I could....Dont ever move there and if you do decide to be rebellious go and ask for Peggy the office manager about the bugs and mildew and see what she says.....

If you like mold then move here
For months I have had mold in Tamarrons apartments. Try to change apartments and they all have the same problem. Atempted Cosmetic cover ups is famous at Tamarron Apartments. But wait a week and you will see it growing all over again because the problem is still there. Complex doesn't care about quality or your health risks, they only care about money.

BRUTALITY AWAITS IF YOU MOVE HERE!!!!
While I have been living at Tamarron I have been nothing but brutalized! I went without a stove due to a gas leak for a month before they fixed it right where it finally stopped leaking gas. Lighting is a whole different story, they won't replace light bulbs in the stairwell either!!!! Three requests in 9 days to change a lightbulb and they still haven't replaced it. Not suitable walking down steps onto patches of ice while it's pitch black! Drainage leaks frozen in front of my front door leaving sheets of ice. Drugs and loud neighbors! I can go on with a list of unmaintained maintenance! But two top it all off, how would you like to know my apartment was flooded twice in a 17 days. I have been rained on by two neighbors!! I would highly NOT reccomend torturing yourself by moving into Tamarron!!!! You will lose everything you own while the management turns there head and does nothing about it!!!! I am not the only one either! If you deecide you want to check out Tamarron, inspect for yourself all the damage from previous leaks. The vacant apartments all have leak issues! Ceilings bulged with patches, mold on the base boards and mold on the bottoms of the cabinets! I would rather have lived in a trailer than to live in this HELLHOLE!!!! I have typed this hoping I can prevent someone else from experiencing how BRUTAL Tamarron IS!!!!

Not a Bad Experience
I lived here in 2002 and did not have really any problems while living here.
There was a consistent gas smell in my apartment, and i bought a carbon monoxide detector to be safe. And my pilot light kept going out on the stove.
When I called to have it fixed by maintenance, it was always fixed quickly.
They were doing some work on the roof of my building for a short period of time, which was loud and left wooden debris on my balcony.
But i enjoyed the wooded view from my apartment, which was towards the front of the complex.
I had no problems from any neighbors, actually it was very peaceful and i lived alone and always felt safe.
The location is great and I would recommend this apartment complex to others.
The only reason I moved is because of my job requiring me to relocate.

Uninvited Guests!
I live here unfortunately because I can't afford to move right now. Tamarron has it pros and cons. Cons mostly. The utility bills are ridiculously high! The water bill is insain so is the gas and half my gas stove does not work! The washer and dryer is great and convenient. My shower is old and starting to fall apart. Dirt sticks easily to the sink and tub floor. The space is great but too many windows which means easy drafts. And there is a window in my shower. Now why is there a window in my shower???? Bugs easily come in and are sitting in there waiting for me. During the summer my A/C didn't work half the summer. I went to the leasing office and complained so many times I lost count. If you don't mind bugs of all diffeerent shapes and SIZES, high utility bills and having things stop working then this is the place for you.

Not that Impressed
The staff and management is friendly, the landscaping is nice, the apartment complex is conveniently located near shopping centers and several malls (cumberland and lenox)...close to downtown and buckhead area. I think its time for a face lift of the actual buildings themselves and the appliances. If you live on the bottom level (the dungeon as i call it) you can forget about coming home late..its a nightmare..poorly lit stairwells. As with any other apartment that ive lived in..there are some good and bad aspects of the apartment community..overall I would recommend this complex to others.

Not so problematic
Prior to moving in, I was quite shocked as to the comments I read on the site as is that I had been expecting particularly horrid experiences; However, after moving in - I have found the location to be quite pleasant. There are train tracks nearby, but depending on the location you have at the apartment, the noise really isn't all that noticeable at all. The staff has been very helpful and within hours of putting in a service request, someone was at my door ready to fix the problem I had.
The property is fairly nicely maintained, and unlike most apartments I have lived in ( most of which in Texas ), the company who constructed this apartment were very mindful of the flow of the location. In particular, there is alot of green grass and peaceful areas whereas I have become quite accustomed to a few hedges and little landscaped yards. I had some guests come stay with me, and they were exceptionally pleased with the place.
Like any apartment complex, it is populated by people who can not afford housing, or like me - who choose to remain mobile as a matter of convenience. Naturally, there will always be elements of less than malicious vagrants who will do harm to other people's property. I have never been to any apartment complex without this specific issue, regardless of how nice or how much I paid for it. Whether it be young college students, or people who have little if any respect for other people's property, it is simply one of those situations where no matter where you live - you will always have less than perfect neighbors. I have met all of my neighbors and I have had every reason to believe they are great people who enjoy their privacy and conduct themselves in a manner which is desireable in neighbors. Any claims to having less than wonderful people living at this community is no better than it would be at any other comparable community.
The apartment itself is quite nice, although the age does show in stress cracks and small defects throughout the apartment. The nits are probably due for some remodeling, but I really can have no complaints since I have been nothing less than I would expect for the price I paid for this location.
Speaking of location, this location is great. Downtown isn't far away at all if you stick to Atlanta rd, and it is very convenient to the cumberland area if you enjoy that kind of shopping / dining. The Kroger nearby is quite nice ( for a Kroger ) and traffic isn't bad until you start heading up into Smyrna. For being inside of the perimeter, I must say that I am quite impressed.
Thus, I am happy to say that my initial fears based off of previously composed ratings was eroneous and misplaced. I am very happy at this location and certainly have no complaints to offer.
It is word to the wise that one bad apple can spoil the lot. I have noticed not only on this particular complex, but many complexes that the people who write the most are the ones who have something to complain about. With this in mind, I would suggest to the reader that they formulate their own opinions instead of take for granted the opinions of those who have lived in an apartment for the first time, or who are just plain angry.
- A happy resident.

A good, decent place to live with pretty landscaping
I moved here in 2005. It is nothing like the reviews from 2004 and earlier. The grounds are well kept. The car wash is working and is 24 hours. The two bedroom apartments are larger than most apartments, and my apartment is well maintained. They just painted and paved this place. You have to prod a little to get some harder maintenance done, but otherwise, they do a decent job, and the maintenance guys are very pleasant. I have not seen any shady characters around here, only dog walkers, exercise walkers, and some baby walkers. The pool is great, it is large and always clean--and it has a waterfall. The utilities are high, but the apartments look nice, especially the grounds. Lots of neatly mowed lawns and flowering shrubs and trees. The neighborhood is safe, you see joggers and dog walkers on the walking path along the entrance at all times. I would recommend this complex to anyone because of the staff and all of the above.

It's the worst in Vinings
This is my first apartment living experience and it will be my last. Guaranteed to be the worst apartment community (if you want to call it that) in Vinings. I have friends in neighboring apartments and we've all come to the conclusion that Vinings as a whole, it not the place you want to reside if you are looking for nice, decent people. In the last couple of years it seems that the low-life city people have moved into this neck of the woods and have totally polluted the formerly nice reputation that Vinings had... unless you live in one of those new fancy homes being built in the area, the pockets of decent society are small.
Tamarron Apartments is a nightmare and the folks that own this property should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the creatons of society to infest within and ruin what once was a pretty decent apartment community.
If you enjoy loud people, loud music, people that don't speak to you when they see you, junk cars in the parking lot, dog crap everywhere and all the hip-hop wannabes you can shake a stick at... this is the place for you. You can get all the city excitement right here behind the so called security gates. Drugs? We got them. Convicted felons? Yup, we got them. The local sheriff cruising around seeking the individual that belongs to the arrest warrant in his hand? Oh yeah, we have that too.
People have the nerve to complain about the train? Oh please, that's nothing compared to the scum that dwell here. At least the train has a purpose, I'm not sure what purpose the scum serve other than being a blight on society.
My lease is up in a few months and I'm overjoyed to be heading out. The management is a joke and can't handle their own tenants. They move in the problems and their solution is to look the other way, as long as money is going into their pockets, they could care less who they let in here. It's a shame to see such a prime location property be wasted. It's a shame Vinings is going to piss.

Tamarron...Convenient but not the best deal
Location

Tamarron is unbelievably convenient, but the apartments themselves are mediocre at best.

Amenities

There are no real amenities, they closed the Car Wash eons ago when the county had water restrictions and the sand volleyball court is not exactly the best looking thing. The pool is really nice though - I have to give them that, but the chairs around it are old and antiquated. The workout room has broken down equipment and is never properly ventilated.

Utilities

Please believe that you WILL pay serious money to heat or cool your apartment depending on where you live!!! The water bills can also be outrageous!!! When I was in a one bedroom, I paid more for water than a friend of mine did for her water in her 3 level, 4 bedroom house where she, her husband and their 3 kids lived - and they have a garden!!!

Noise

I must have had good neighbors or a good location because I never really heard people around me. But there´s the train. Well luckily, prior to moving in, I knew about the train, so I specifically requested an apartment closer to the front of the property where you don´t hear the train as loud, however, I still heard that blaring train whistle. So I can´t IMAGINE what the people in the back of the property go through. But you get desensitized to it after a while.

Maintenance

My dishwasher was ancient and my garbage disposal was broken a bunch of times. The washing machine leaked. The cabinets are old and all have water damage in them. The knobs for the sinks were old and broken and the tub wouldn´t seal off properly so you couldn´t really take a bath if you wanted. Speaking of water damage, let´s not even TALK about the leaking ceilings (I was on the 2nd level) it would actually RAIN in my apartment and the fact that now that they "fixed" the roofs so that they supposedly won´t leak, you can no longer have DirectTv in any of the apartments.

The cable service in that area is a JOKE (it used to be Optima or something - now it´s TV Maxx) - $80 a month for limited channels, no TV guide and no channel to tell you what´s coming on. When I asked the TV Maxx representative about that she said, "Oh we have a TV Guide just not in your area." HUH??? When I asked her what channel I turn to to see what´s coming on TV she told me "We don´t offer that service" so I asked her how she suggested I determine what was coming on Television and she told me that I could buy a TV guide. Hmm...so I spend $80 a month and have to purchase a TV Guide.

Safety

Safety has become a serious issue. Time after time you are getting notices about car jackings and rapes and vandalization in the area.

Kids

One of the reasons I moved to Tamarron is because it only had up to two-bedrooms and I didn´t think there would be a lot of children in the area. However, that couldn´t be further from the truth. Kids are EVERYWHERE in the summer months to the point where it´s hard to drive your car. Luckily, as I said, I lived in the front of the property so I didn´t have far to drive in and out of the property.

Recommendation

Tamarron is NOT luxurious. I wouldn´t recommend it for the money. But if you´re looking for convenience overall, it´s PERFECT!!! You can spit on 285 and you are sandwiched between Kroger and Publix.

I´m moving to Gwinnett and am getting ready to sign a lease at Preston Park at Satellite. But while on this site, I read so many bad reviews about that complex so now I´m scared!! Wish me luck!!!

------ Fabulous- run for your life.
I have lived here for over 2 yrs. and the only reason I´m still here is because I´ve spent so much time making repairs in around my apartment that I´m afraid to leave for an even worse apartment in the area. The buildings are old, and really show it. Apartment owners have not made any real repairs or done maintenance on the buildings in years. My windows leaked, my french door leaked, several hot water heater issues that flooded my apartment. Walls are cracked, paint is crumbling off, windows have water between them, extremely drafty in the winter (you´ll freeze your butt off and pay on average in gas heating about $85.00p/m)Water bills are high and the office gets a kick-back for every high water bill, so keep on eye on your usage and double check the readings.

I do have to say that the staff does respond to your maintenance requests but the quality of work is comparable to an 8 year olds first attempt. There is no excuse for this other than no one gives a damn. At least once every 2 weeks I have to stop by the office to place a maintenance request... and the office staff just smiles and Yes´s you to death and then conveniently misplaces your request. I´ve heard that the office staff actually erased requests from the log books so they could cry that they never received it.

In recent months the entire complex has turned into a half-way house for the lost and destitude, crack addicts and welfare recipients. There are more cars in the parking lot during day than in any other complex in the area... this tells you something. The "boyz in the hood" like to hang out with their buddies and play loud music, flaunting there latest ------ fashions and attitude... quite honestly, in one day alone I´ve seen 5 people move out. This place is an urban nightmare in little Vinings... the police should do a little investigating here as I´m almost certain they´ll find drugs, guns and probably 1 or 2 individuals with warrants.

I´ve been looking to get out of here for the last 6-8months, but unless you want to pay $800 for 650 sq. feet of space then your other options are just about the same as this nightmare-hell-hole.

If I´m lucky perhaps Post Property will run a really great special sometime in the near future so I can get the hell outa here. Post Properties are the only safe complexes to live in these days... you´ll pay, but what you´ll save in stress is worth it.

Noisy, Noisy, Noisy
Warning! If you´re a light sleeper and are easily disturbed, then this apartment complex is not for you. The complex is located right next to train tracks. For some unknown reason, the train conductor blares the horns in the middle of the night (i.e. 1am, 2am, 3am in the mornings).
I lived there for 2 years. The 1st year was a nightmare, I lived on a first floor apt, and I could hear every step that was made by the couple and the kid living above me. It´s like the ceiling was made out of old plywood. I was either disturbed by an a.m. train, or a running kid. The 2nd year, I was offered a lower rent, a second floor apt, and the option to move to an apt further away from the tracks.
I moved to an upstairs one bedroom apartment further away from the tracks. The insulation was terrible. In the winter time, the apartment didn´t stay warm because of the openings around the doors and windows. I had to put towels against the doors lower part to keep cool air from coming through. Then in the summer time, the a/c had to run overtime because it was almost impossible to cool an upstairs apt where heat rises and awful insulation. Oh, and I was still awaken with nightmares of the train running me over!
In conclusion, if you´re not a night person and really value your quiet time. This is not the apt complex for you.
