The staff really tries to instill a sense of community. There are alot of activities going on. Maintenance staff is fantastic, very quick and professional. It is a safe environment and great if you have pets. The location is fantastic. Highly recommend.

    We love the area and are happy with our apartment and community. The only negatives are I feel very cheap carpet for what we pay monthly. For what we pay I expect much better quality carpet and flooring in general. It is very nice to have a gym and workout facility at our community. This saves time of driving to a crowded gym

      The process to rent with Legacy was wonderful! The staff, specifically Angie, was welcoming, accommodating and very friendly. They made a generally stressful experience enjoyable. The apartment was ready and clean when I moved in and Angie was there with keys in hand and friendly "Welcome Home." My dog and I are very happy we moved here!

        The legacy is a great place to live. We wouldn't still be here if it wasn't so nice to live here because there is a lot of competition in the area. This is a great location and has wonderful amenities and a great office and maintenance staff.

          This apartment neighborhood has a good location, great floor plans, but they are cheaply finished inside. In comparison to the apartments literally across the street, they are very much over priced for very similar size and finish level.

            We have lived here for almost two years and are counting down the days until our lease is up. We live on the second floor and have had two different renters in the apartment above us, both of which we have had the same problems. We can hear every step taken, every cupboard close, every toilet flush, every pin drop above us!!! We are embarrassed to have friends/family over due to the constant noise. He current people living above us have a child who runs back and forth through the apartment and it sounds like there is a stampede above us. We had to go out and buy a sound machine in order to fall asleep at night. DO NOT be fooled by the cheap laminate floors and the nice exterior. These apartments are cheaply constructed and overpriced. I have been renting for 4 years and regret moving here' everyday. There are plenty of better constructed apartments on the north side of Indy that are better priced. If you must live here, I would recommend living on the top floor. The staff has been friendly and accommodating, however this place is a nightmare.

                The apartment has been very nice, it's a good layout and space, and convenient location. The office staff has been very nice, and most of the grounds are well kept. We do get a lot of noise in our apartment currently, but that is due to the neighbors we have currently and the construction noise across the street. The upstairs neighbor is unusually heavy on his feet and the across the hall neighbors have a dog with severe separation anxiety that howls all day. We also have a few issues with the grounds, there are a significant number of burnt out patches in the grass, and our downstairs neighbor leaves a pile of dog poop bags by their porch behind a bush.

                  DO NOT MOVE HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE PETS!!!! When we moved in we were told we had to pay $250 pet fee and $20 a month pet rent. ok well when we moved out our new puppy had tore a piece of the carpet and they charged us to replace the entire apartment with new carpet, and then told us that we owe them almost $400 because of that. So I said well isn't the $250 that we paid at move in applied to that, and they then, NOT AT MOVE IN, told us that the $250 and the $20 a month is just a fee not a deposit!!! So basically we paid them $500 just to have a pet in the apartment. That to me seems extremely unfair and unethical. The maintenance there is also terrible. I had a window leaking and leaving puddles in my carpet, I called almost every day for 2 weeks before they sent someone to look at the window. The construction is poor. We a one bedroom apartment on the third floor, and the entire winter our thermostat was set at 65 degrees and we continuously had a $260 electric bill. The only thing that they said was that because our apartment faced the West. This place is a waste of money. And they were going to raise our rent $100 to resign our lease

                    I love living here. The apartments are modern, clean, just the right size and well designed. It is great to have the second entry to the bathroom from the front door. The kitchen has lots of cabinets and counter space. The full size glass doors to the balcony bring in lots of light. Plugs and ceiling lights are abundant as well as different locations for hooking up televisions. Arches and open ceiling spaces give a unique touch. Friends and family have commented saying, "your apartment has so much character". The balcony is good size allowing for a table and 4 chairs. I give the office and maintenance crew a 10 plus. Friendly and very willing to make your living experience a positive one. The pool, hot tub, and workout center are the highest quality and the area's are welcoming. My husband was offered a job out-of-state and I will be relocating with him in the next 6 weeks. If I could, I would pickup the apartment and take it with me. Thank you for providing us with a lovely place to live.

                      The Legacy is worth your money. The apartments are beautiful and quiet. The community is very dog friendly and clean. It has a community feel with awesome workout and pool facilities. They look as nice outside as they do inside.

                                I've lived in apartment...

                                I've lived in apartment communities in several states in the U.S. Never before would I have recommended one those communities. I would wholeheartedly recommend a J.C. Heart community to anyone. Quality management, quality building, and a large number of floorplans and options to meet anyone's needs. The only reason I'm leaving this property is because I'm building a house.

                                  Really nice apartments...

                                  Really nice apartments and the staff's customer service is unmatched by any apartment complex in which I've ever lived. The price was a bit steep, though, for a 2/2. I found 3/2 houses for rent in the same area for a little cheaper but then again, now I'm going to mow and shovel snow. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't use my own treadmill except for the hours of 10a - 8p. I was on the second floor. I have lived at a lot of complexes over the years and this was the first time I've ever been restricted on my treadmill use. But, their gym was pretty nice. Decent equipment. I just preferred to roll out of bed and run in the privacy of my own home. Overall, I would recommend this place if you like more upgraded apartments and an attentive office staff. And if you have a dog, you will definitely feel at home.

                                    We just toured this property last week. After the apartment tour, we walked around the complex. DOG POOP EVERYWHERE!!! You couldn't walk 5 feet without seeing 2 or 3 piles. There is no place that would be safe for my kids to play. Obviously they do not expect the residents to clean up after their pets.

                                          This is the best place...

                                          This is the best place I have ever rented. The Office Staff is wonderful and should be complimented on a job well done. Their friendly attitude just brightens your day. The Maintenance Staff is definitely hard working and friendly, too. My 2-Bedroom spacious apartment is awesome, with high ceilings, beautiful kitchen appliances, attached garage, washer & dryer, etc. Each apartment is hardwired with smoke alarms and a sprinkler system which gives you peace of mind. The whole apartment complex is well lit at night for safety & security. I use the Exercise facility 4-5 times a week and it has a full array of equipment to use. The indoor Basketball court and outdoor Pool are awesome and well kept. They also have a Cafe that is definitely a nice place to meet friends and have a cup of java or relax. The little shin-digs that the Staff throws are Great !!! They provide games, free food & free drinks so that we can get to know our neighbors. I've never lived at a place that takes so much pride in their community. This Apartment Community is near anything you can think of; Banks, shopping, groceries, bars, restaurants, bowling and more. I initially signed a 15-month lease and am now getting ready to sign another 15-month extension. I just luv this place and would recommend it to everyone.

                                              First off, when I was looking to move down to the Indy area, this place was magnificent. I loved Jade and Deb, they were absolutely amazing managers. Ever since management has changed, this place has gone down-hill. I CONSTANTLY get noise complaints about my dog, but the thing is, I get called when I am not not even around the area! The girl said to me: "I don't have dogs, so maybe you should get like a bark collar or something" REALLY? I have an 8 pound dog...so I'm guessing that you can tell she doesn't bark, she yaps. And the only time she does that is when there is someone at the door or she hears something alarming, WHICH IS WHAT DOGS DO! I referred some people, they signed a lease and I never got my referral card. The maintenance are nice people, but they never come on time when they say they will. they ate allowing alcohol to be down at the pool, and for girls to walk around in g-string swimsuits. If this is such a family oriented community, shouldn't that not be happening? The new staff does not dress professionally at all, they dress like they are going out on a Saturday night, not like dress when they are at work. The whole thing with the dog poop is getting a little outrageous if you ask me, and the landscaping as well. The blinds were broken when we moved in and a piece of the wood down by my oven but I'm sure I'll get charged for that when we leave because they have already accused us of breaking our blinds even though they were broken when we moved in and we had to pay to replace them because "corporate didn't approve of them". Well, maybe you should replace them when new people move in. Just a thought though. You can always hear when people are coming up and down the stairs and I can always smell when my neighbors are smoking weed. Oh, and my roomates boyfriend car was broken into and the manager said "well we've never had this problem before, but I guess we will keep an eye out." That's even better! The parking is awful, they should have passes for residents who actually pay to live here, not for friends to park anywhere they want. Anyways, I'm guessing you can tell that I am no where near satisfied with this community, I will not re-sign a lease and I will not refer anyone ever again.

                                                Happy to Call Legacy Home

                                                After a very large apartment search, that included almost every apartment complex on the northeast side, I am proud to say that we picked Legacy Towns and Flats. After accidently stumbling upon the community, we loved everything about the look and feel of it, just driving through. When we scheduled a visit to see an open unit, I can honestly say that Deb, Jade and JeMarcus were the friendliest staff that we had encountered in our apartment search. They were honest about the apartments, the community and I didnt feel like they were pressuring us to make any kind of decision that day, unlike many other communities had. THEY ARE THE REASON WE CHOSE LEGACY. I have no reason to be anything but honest since we will no longer be living in the community, but I am disappointed to see that some residents below have had less than a pleasant experience. I have lived in apartments before, and understand apartment living, and believe that some may not be used to that kind of lifestyle, hence the reasoning behind such disappointment. We have been extremely happy with our apartment and everything about the community. In all honesty, we have had heard some "apartment noise" but expressed our concerns to the staff, and the issue was taken care of immediately. Living in an apartment community, you must expect some kind of noise, as not all residents realize that their noise travels, and not everyone follows the proper etiquette, and this is nothing that the staff of ANY commmunity can control. Whenever we thought something was excessively loud, the staff was quick to respond and this issue was always corrected quickly. The maintenance staff is AWESOME, and we have never waited any longer than 24 hours for something to be corrected. Most of our maintenance reports have been for new air filters or a flouresant light replacement from the closet. The grounds are well kept, there is a fenced in area for dogs, a beautiful fountain, a great pool and grill area, and there is a large walking path that completely surrounds the community. I will miss sitting on our patio at night watching all the families and kids ride their bikes or take a walk and enjoy the nice weather. The units at Legacy are all updated and modern looking, with nice counters - cabinets - and finishes. The entry way and kitchen are a very nice hardwood and the walls are painted a neutral color. Our unit has a great patio space and we enjoy spending time out there! The ONLY complaint that I have about living here, and living on the main street near the leasing office, is that early in the morning when people are leaving for work, or late at night coming home or going out, cars will fly down the main road of the community and it can get noisy, and just plain annoying. This is really nothing the leasing staff of the community can control and is very hard to catch, and I suspect it is often times - non residents or visitors. I can say that I will be extremely sad to leave Legacy. I will be honest is saying that one of the main reasons we have decided to part from Legacy is because of the cost associated with a larger unit, and the need for storage. When we first moved in, and up until recently, Deb was the manager and she did a fantastic job getting the community off the ground and established. JeMarcus has taken over and I personally think that he has done an equally great job. The two new leasing agents are great as well! The are all so friendly and willing to help! I love the fact that you can see them out in the community, off the clock enjoying their personal time, and they will always wave, or stop and chat. They are awesome, and I don't think their hard work should be discounted! In our apartment search, we looked at many JC Hart communities and we love the look and feel of them. Every JC Hart community that we explored had the friendliest staffs around! Every community is very helpful and willing to work with you. If our journey ever brings us back to apartment living, I can say with 100% certainty that we will be staying with JC Hart!

                                                  Unfortunate.

                                                  Superficially, this is would appear to be a beautiful, unique, and luxurious apartment community; the JC Hart name is also immensely appealing to most prospective renters who have resided at one of their older properties. Unfortunately, these aesthetics are just not enough to overcome the reality of residing here. Before I enumerate the issues with this community, I would like to commend the staff at the rental office; they are friendly, and I appreciate that they answer the phone each time that I call. The maintenance staff seems friendly and competent as well. The grounds are kept neat and clean. I will also offer that the location feels very safe; when the weather is nice, I have no qualms about going for a walk at night, and I regularly find others enjoying late evening walks as well. The principal complaint that I have with The Legacy, as others here have stated, is the apparent poor quality of construction and the lack of care put into the interior design of the buildings. The soundproofing, if it exists, is inadequate; I can literally hear the residents below conversing (and if I can hear that level of sound, one can imagine the experience when there is an argument or other higher-decibel activities occurring). The bedrooms of the one-bedrooms are adjacent to the stairwell; I can hear every step at all hours of the night (in fact, I have been relegated to sleeping in the living room most nights because of this issue, provided, of course, the noise I hear in the living room is less objectionable than that experienced in the bedroom). The faulty construction does not even prevent noise from non-adjacent apartments from being experienced in my unit (if there is a child anywhere in the building, one can hear it running around or raising its voice - regardless of where this activity occurs in the building). The A/C and heating unit is located, nonsensically, in one of the dustiest places in the apartment, the laundry room (this is actually common in every JC Hart property in which I have lived); it goes without saying that the air filter becomes clogged very quickly given the fact that the dryer screen has to regularly, and understandably, be freed of lint. Another concern in quality of the construction is the size of the garages; they are so tiny that if I have anyone riding with me, I do not pull into the garage without first letting my passenger out (there is simply not enough room to open both doors while inside the garage). It would seem that JC Hart has concluded that quality of construction is unimportant; not only does it cause misery for their residents, it is not conducive to a spirit of community among neighbors (which tends to exacerbate the noise problem). I lived in two other JC Hart properties before moving here, and I never had issues with noise while living in either of those communities; this leads me to believe that something may have changed in this organization's standards for quality. The common areas of the building are dirty, and the temperature is generally unregulated. The carpets in these parts of the building are stained, frequently littered, and/or reek of dog or trash odor. During the summer, it is extremely warm in the common area (no fan or air conditioning), not only making for an uncomfortable walk to/from the car, but also serving to intensify the offensive odor. Concerning the gym area, again, perception is not reality. The equipment appears to be relatively modern, and there is a good amount of it. The area has large windows and has a high ceiling, and thus has an open, modern ambiance. One problem is that it is extremely hot in here; the air conditioning is just unable to keep up with the solar radiation and outdoor humidity. If the temperature gets above 70, and the sun is out, the room quickly heats up into the 80s in the afternoon and is extremely humid, regardless of the thermostat setting. Even in the mornings during the spring and summer, the room is too warm and too humid. The thermostat is open, allowing residents to manipulate it. Simply, the management should lock down the thermostat and set the temperature at a normal indoor level; moreover, they need to ensure that the air conditioning and/or heating is keeping the space's temperature regulated at the desired setting. Another issue here is that the hired cleaning crew works one or two mornings each week, while residents are working out; aerobic exercise while inhaling cleaning chemicals or while people are mopping and vacuuming nearby is less than enjoyable. If the management chooses to shut down the gym from 12:00 until 5:00 each morning, it would seem to be best to have the crew come in then; surely, the crew would have greater success and efficiency in cleaning all of the equipment and the floor without residents getting in their way. Overall, my experience over the past year of living here has been unpleasant. Simplistically, the negatives far outweigh the positives; specifically, through its apparent poor construction quality standards, JC Hart seems to condone a practice of offering substandard tenements, yet charging an exaggerated premium. Additionally, I feel that JC Hart forgives residents' failures to perform per the obligations of their leases; leases clearly state that no resident will disturb or detract from the enjoyment of other lessees of other apartments. I can unequivocally, and without hesitation, state that I have been repeatedly disturbed and regularly deprived of full enjoyment of my apartment by other residents.
