I am enjoying my new home
I moved from the Southwest to Northeast of Fort Wayne and now call Windsor Oaks home. I was stunned how enormous the closets and bathrooms are! My apartment is on the corner and I get a great cross breeze. The maintenance staff is at my apartment the same day to install a ceiling fan, fix my shower head, and fix my screen door. I have amazing square footage for what I pay. Everything is electric and my electric bill is $60! I was paying $123 Southwest! I do miss Chop's and Biaggi's being down the street but Casa's Stellhorn is beautiful! I can plant flowers outside, there is a ton of parking, my garage is bigger than my place Southwest, I am very pleased! I should have made this move 2 years ago. Also, I like this new Employee Interruption Program so if my job goes away I only need to give a 30 day notice. I do not have kids, but I like there is a playground for them to go play at. And there are horse farms on either side of this place! Seriously, Horses! I am very much enjoying my new home at Windsor Oaks!

superior living
My family (wife and son) have lived here for just over one year. We have absolutely no complaints about living here. Maintenance was prompt in responding to repair needs. Some were more complex than others and required return visits, but they did return and did fix problems. Managing and maintenance staff were always professional. The services provided here became our standard for finding similar accommodations throughout the country. Because of our studies and lifestyles, we have lived in major cities throughout the country and have done some world traveling. The services we received here surpass all expectations. I did review the materials written in early 2005 and found them laughable. Persons clearly made axes to grind or were just passing idle time. The grounds are well kept, there are few noises to recognize from neighbors, persons are generally friendly, and the apartments and garages are roomy. Security is prompt when needed for concerns (former tenants's children do return and create a bad name for current residents) and the screening process they have for residents appears sufficient. We compared the surroundings against other websites when we moved in and the nearest 'problem neighbor' is over a mile away. Windsor Oaks did superior by us and regrettably, we have to move, but would not hesitate in returning back in the future, should our professions allow us to return.

Nightmare Management
Moving to Windsor Oaks was one of the biggest mistakes of mine and my husband's lives. The manager, ----- is a horrendous person to deal with. We had to break our lease move out and pay thousands in moving and early termination fees. I'm writing this to make people aware and to not make the same mistake we did. Beware of this apartment complex. If you have a dog this is not the place for you. The pet policy is unreasonable and unrealistic. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE place to live.

BAD EXPERIENCE!!
My wife and I have lived here for about 6 months. We have a boston terrier. He snuck out the door one day and had a scuffle with another dog that was being walked. It was a very minor incident. Because the complex has a rule that dogs must be on a leash at all times they say we broke the rule and must get rid of the dog or get evicted. ONE MINOR INCIDENT!!! Can you believe that. We tried to reason with the management, specifically ----- Durkes on the seriousness of the offense verses the penalty but had no luck. We have since put in our notice for early termination of our lease. I would be very cautious on deciding to rent from here. Especially if you have pets. We are very sorry we chose to. There are much more affordable, places in the area.

Spacious and clean, but noisy
(I kept this anonymous becuase I am a current resident with several months remaining on my lease.)

Windsor Oaks offers very spacious apartments and a variety of floor plans. Lots of natural light throughout each room. The apartments are pretty new, and are located in a corner of FW that is currently being developed. WalMart, Meijer, Menards and several restaurants are about three blocks away, and the traffic is not too bad.

All appliances, sinks, carpets, tile etc. are brand new. Nice pool and fitness area.

The structures themselves are a bit shoddy. We constantly hear doors, cabinets and drawers slamming, one after another, from below and next to us. It sounds like the noise is coming from my own apartment, and is loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. I even hear the neighbor below's alarm every weekday morning at 5:45.

The walls and floors are thin, and you always hear bass from TV, music or just two people talking. The sound coming from other apartments is the worst in my staircase, where the neighbor's TV noise travels through the wall and bounces all the way up into my living room.

Also, the previous neighbor below smoked, and the smell traveled into my apartment through the baseboard near the stairs. I could also smell smoke in my bathroom. Needless to say, the complex does not have designated smoking/nonsmoking buildings. Tenants are allowed to smoke if they want, so I can't do anything about it, but as a nonsmoker, it was enough to make me want to move out.

The last straw came a few days after the smoking neighbors moved out and the maintenance staff (I'm not sure if it was Windsor Oaks or a third party) arrived to work on their apartment at 6:30 on a Sunday morning. I really couldn't believe that they were there so early, let alone on a Sunday. In any case, I was awakened by pounding or hammering; not exactly how I wanted to spend my Sunday morning.

If your apartment faces other apartments, sleeping with the windows open is a challenge. Outdoor smokers, babies crying, TVs and loud talkers are the norm every night outside my window. Try to get an apartment facing the woods or Stellhorn Rd. At least the sound of traffic will drown out everything else.

On top of the huge rent payment, adding a pet on the lease is another headache. There is a $25 per month per pet fee, on top of a $250 pet deposit (1/2 of which is non-refundable). Really, how much damage can an adult cat do when they sleep all day?

At the risk of sounding extremely judgemental, there are some neighbors here that make me wonder if Windsor Oaks offers some sort of government subsidized housing. This is just based on appearance alone, but I can't figure out how some of the tenants who live here can afford to pay the rent, plus a pet deposit, without receiving some sort of financial assistance. As rude as it may sound, many of the people here are not what I would expect to see living in a complex with such a high rent and deposit.

Many parents don't regulate their children around here, so during nice days, kids are yelling and screaming outside my windows, riding their bikes all over the grass, and playing on top of the large electrical boxes in the courtyards. Meanwhile, their parents are inside and don't even realize that their kids are a nuisance to all of the other tenants.

It also irritates me that, when we moved in, we were given green parking stickers because there is a parking code (of sorts). However, we always see parked cars without stickers; a few of which had not been moved in weeks. Three that I saw had flat tires. I am going to take the sticker off of my windshield, since they don't seem to monitor the parking situation anyway.

One tenant recently used the car wash as his own personal spot to park his Cadillac. The garages (another huge monthly fee) take up a lot of parking lot space, so space is very limited if several spaces are occupied by junk cars for weeks on end.

On top of that, people around me don't know how to make a 90 degree turn into the parking space, and therefore park their big beat-up trucks at angles that take up more than one space.

This is very minor, but the mailman always bends magazines and large envelopes in half, I guess to fit more into his/her bag. I receive thick bound magazines and journals, and they always have a large crease through the middle and sit on my table in a "V". Also not good when you receive important documents in the mail.

If the complex was built as good as they look from the exterior, I wouldn't mind paying the monthly rent (which is just about as much as a house payment). I learned the hard way that you can't judge this book by its cover, and if you do, you'll be very disappointed.

Awesome apartments!
Beautiful apartments, very quiet and on the outside of the city, great neighbors and neighborhood.
WIndsor Oaks are the best apartments I have ever lived in. Excellent amenities and club house. I would have stayed had I not moved out of state.
I definitely give it a 10!
three complaints
We lived in these apartments for about 6 months in 2001. Our son was 18 months old and I rook him to the playground area where I found that the management would stand out there and smoke and toss their cigerette butts into the childrens play area. Cigerette butts are deadly to a child if a child tries to eat one.
My other big complaint is the noise of the teenage skateboarders who had a skateboard jump right outside our apartment and would stay up till 12-1 am doing jumps. Believe me i is loud.
Last but not least, THE FROGS. We moved in in June and after we moved in we soon learned that after a rain and at night frogs by the dozens came out and got ran over all over the road. This is absolutly sickening.

This Place is awesome
I have been at Windsor Oaks for about a year and I love it. I am unfortunatly moving out(I got married and we bought a house, otherwise I would stay) The office staff has always been helpful and kind. every one in the office has gone out of their way for me, as well as the maintenance staff. I used to work for another apartment community in Fort Wayne so I know the level of service a resident should get. I think that if you are looking for a nice apartment home with great staff and so many extras this is the place for you. My first week here almost everyone that I passed said hi. Please do remember that this is apatment living. You may get an occasional neighbor that cranks up the stereo or has a fight. This is normal.I f you have any questions, feel free to contact me by e-mail and I will give you information to the best of my knowledge.

You get what you pay for
It is very amusing to see all the negative comments on this community, I happen to live in. I moved here from out of town and I will say this has been the best yet. I 've lived at other apartments and the treatment and respect I get around here, sure beats any other. Face it this is Fort Wayne and there's not much to pick from. Some of you that have decided to leave your feed back are truly lacking a big city experience where you pay twice as much each month for rent and never hear or see from anyone. The staff at Windsor Oaks is fun and professional and was extremely helpful when I moved here from Chicago. I am glad that I was referred here and I, among others will continue to make referrals to Windsor Oaks.

Word of advice!!
I do not live here but I just wanted to say to management... that before reading the reviews I was going to come in to view apartments. Now however... I do think that you have some problems. You really need to find out why people would be complaining and fix the problem instead of going back and forth with them. I see that as very immature. I won't be visiting now, as I hope for better roll models for my daughter.

WELL I DISAGREE WITH BOTH OF YOU. GET A LIFE!!!!
First of all let me start off by saying that im sick of all of these games you long time apartment people play just sitting around in your dark littel lonley apartments wishing that you had someone to talk to so you then turn to your computers and start writing cocky statements. I absalutly dont beleive that someone broke into your sorry car. and who ever wants to talk about spelling think for a long hard moment thats not how you spell walk or written haha not very intelligent now is it and F.Y.I. im yet to see any drug dealers. It's very quite obvious that you lack intellectual standards to properly evaluate a apartment complex so now who needs to go back to school. This is for anybody who has read those imature an untasteful reviews. this is a great place a littel pricy but good in all reguards. On the other hand you people that write untrue reviews have no class nore intelligence.

I agree with Oh My God
First off let me tell you how embarressing it must be to work there and feel that you have to write false reviews just to make yourselves look good. If you are all that and a bag of chips you would not care what is wriiten on this site becuase you would know it is false. Secondly, learn how to spell. If you are going to try and write these reviews the least you could do is spell correctly and change your font so it doens't look so obvious. As far as cars being broke into my HAS been twice and lets talk for a moment about the drug dealers that have lived here through the years. Yes we read the paper. It is not hard to figure out why so many people are moving out. It is obvious to us (people who live here now) that the office does have problems because you are giving away the world to anyone who walke in the door to get them to move in this dump. Don't even get me started on the lazy maintenence manager... what a joke he is. He has no idea what he is doing. So is the manager himself. I am moving because I want to live where the staff is professional and know what they are talking about and doing. This is my home so you would think the staff would care more about us. We pay over $700.00 a month so you would think we would recieve superior service. The one thing they have correct is that you should go see for yourself. Anyone with half a brain will see what a joke this place is!! Good luck. This site is for people who want to really know about a place before they go spend their hard earned money a place to call home. Grow up!!! Go back to school and learn to spell. Get your facts straight!!!!

you have got to be kiddin
The idiot that wrote all the reviews the past few days has got to be the dumbest person alive. I mean come on! This site is for those who really want to help others find a great place to live. This is definately not. Management is lazy and the training of maintenence is sad. They are worse than the office staff. I have lived her for 3 years and am moving because of lack of professionalism and maintenece.
