Couldnt be happier!
I moved in February 2011 and could not be happier! Staff is wonderful!! Pool and fitness area are nothing but the best!! I have not had any maintenance issues. There are times when you can hear your neighbors, but thats expected. Its very rare if i ever do hear my neighbor. Grounds are kept beautiful and i feel 100% safe living here. These are the BEST apartments in Northwest Indiana. I looked at a hundred others and they are dirty and crappy! I feel like i have my own condo/townhome living here. Will renew my lease again!

Best in the area
These are the best in the area. Very quiet,no problems, staff is very friendy, and requests are handled in a timely manner. No complaints here. I have lived other apartments in this area and I have to say that I am very happy here.

I have several complaints, we are renting one of the more expensive apts. I am surprised that I can hear my upstairs neighbors, the walls are paper thin. I was also surprised that we had a notice on our car stating we could no longer park it with the front of the car facing out in the parking lot. When I called to question this, I was told curtly that the premises looks better when all the cars are parked the same way and any cars in the lot parked that way would be towed. We went to the pool Memorial weekend and discovered the pool was not heated, it was like ice cubes. I questioned the maintainance person the following week and he said they had a part ordered for the pool heater. I didn't go to the pool again until June 30th, assuming the heater had been fixed, wrong, still not working! I went to the office staff, they told me they are having it fixed. I said, it shouldn't take a month. I agree with a previous post, the office staff needs an attitude adjustment, they are very dismissive. I would also add that the stove is not self cleaning. These are far from luxury apartments, which is how they advertise them.

Responding to review on 6/30/2011
I only moved from Prairie Point because of my employment situation. The review is real. I was a tenant from 2/2009 - 6/2011. The staff was very helpful to me during my transition. I had a lot of difficulities and they stepped up and helped me as if they were my family. I did live in another apartment complex in Merrillville and it was terrible. I know people who live in other apartment complexes in Merrillvile also and the reviews are not good. If you look at some of the reviews for other apartments in Merrillville, I am think you will appreciate being in Prairie Point Apartments. You seem like someone who did their homework and investigated other places and determined Praire Point to be one of the best in Merrillville that is why you are there. The car complaint, I can agree only because my car had stopped and I had to wait for my neighbor to move their car so I could get a jump. Otherwise I only have wonderful statements regarding the staff and the apartment.

So far so good
We have lived here for a little over a year now (we just renewed the lease). I think the office staff is very friendly and courteous. The maintenace people are easy to work with and fix all of the little things (we had bees invade our patio last summer and they came out to spray, and then back again to check their work; and another time we needed to replace our dimmer switch and he asked if we needed anything else while he was there and tighten screws, check knobs, all sorts of little things). The apartment is spacious and clean with new appliances. Although the rent is a little steep, we knew we would have to pay more for a quality apartment. Although sometimes the noise can bother us, we have learned to live with it. I would recommend this place.

Alright, could be better
The apartments themselves are very nice. Everything is fairly new, so there are very few issues with maintenance. However, it is exceptionally loud. The walls are paper thin, and you can hear absolutely everything. We are on a top floor, and frequently we have people blasting music or TV at incredibly loud volumes, and it is impossible to tune it out. In fact, two of the apartments in our building are empty (they are model units), and the apartment still gets almost unbearably loud at times, due to the incredibly thin walls. It could just be the luck of getting awful neighbors, but if you are looking to live someplace that is fairly quiet, this is NOT the apartment complex for you.

Not bad
Apartment is brand new, so no real maintence issues. Office staff is friendly and helpful. Layout is nice, appliances and fixtures are the best features. My only complaint is the amount of noise you hear from the upstairs neighbors. They should never put a family with a bunch of noisy kids on a 2nd floor unit, or they should have built them with better soundproofing between the two floors.

Not too bad
Apartments are brand new so no maintainence issues. Layout is nice and open, 9 foot celings are a plus. Appliances and fixtures are very nice. Office staff is nice. My only complaint is that if you live on the bottom floor, you can hear everything. Perhaps my neighbors are extremely loud, but you can hear it everytime they walk. They should not really put a family with a bunch of kids on a second floor. For the amount I pay, there should be alot more soundproofing between the 1st and 2nd floors.

Very impressed
I recently moved into the brand new section of Prairie Point at the beginning of January. Of course, everything is brand new and very nice, including the washer, dryer, stove, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher (all name brand appliances, by the way). So far so good. There is plenty of parking and no noise at all. Some of this could be due to the fact that a lot of the apartments are still empty, but we will see. I will keep this updated. Also, the office staff, especially Lynette, has been extremely friendly and helpful.

Great PLace to Live your Life
The apartments are very spacious and cozy feeling. I love the high ceilings and all the windows. Brand new kitchen appliances and plenty of cabinet space. I never once heard my neighbors below me even w/ the new construction it was quiet, and every neighbor i came in contact w/ was very friendly. the maintenance is very friendly and helpful and always came when i put a request in for something to get done. the office staff is very helpful as well they made the moving process easy for me they found me a home owners insurance agent. they always greet me when i come in and i dont come off as a bother to them. Overal i like where i live and plan on staying for a while.

Not Fair!!!
THe people across the hall from me moved into their apartment the same time that I did, and I found out later that their monthly rent was $30 a month less than mine was!!! When I approached managemnt about it, they were extremely unprofessional and just plan rude. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. It doesnt matter how much you try to talk to them, or what you say, becuase it won't do any good. When it is not their pocketbook being affected, they don't care, and have "You are bothering me" attitude. The person before was right... dont cross the wrong person. WHen it came time to renew the lease, their is an increase, and the increase is based off of your current rent, so they will be paying less than me for the same apartment for the whole time they are there. That is unfair. I couldn't wait to move out after my lease was up!

Nice Apartments, but Management Needs an Attitude Adjustment
The apartments are very nice. They look and feel like townhomes. ------- in management is an absolute pain to deal with. She has a "why are you bothering me" attitude. She needs to get some pointers from ----- who is one of the nicest people I've met. One of the bad things about this place is the security deposit. They charge $300.00 for a security deposit, but once you move, no matter how long you stay, they take $150.00 out for a "cleaning fee"....even if you left is completely spotless! What a joke! Landscaping outside needs alot of work too. Most of the grass is dead, and the shrubs are overgrown and unkept. Other than that, the place is very nice and quiet.

Horrible service
Looks nice---but don't talk to the people in the front office---horrible attitudes. We can't wait to break our lease and move some where where the staff is at least friendly. Also, way to noisy for the price!

The nicest apartment I've ever lived in!
I have lived here for a year and I couldn't be happier! It has every luxury I could possilby want. They are the only apartment complex that come with full size washer and dryers for no extra charge which is the first thing I look for in an apartment. Due to my husband's job, we have had to move around a lot and the experience we've had here is outstanding!

Prairie Point Apartments
Prairie Point Apartments are a good place to live in Merrillville, In. 46410 However, the managament are not very professional. Especially if you cross the wrong person. The apartments structure is low quality. It is quiet community. Never had a parking problem.

Very nice living with helpful staff
I have lived in Praire Point for two and a half years and have enjoyed it very much. I enjoy the ammenitties as well as the always helpful office staff. I have had no issues to speak of and if so they were addressed quickly by the staff.

You get a nice apartment for what you are paying.....
Compare the other places in this area, and you will end up renting here. You pay a little more, but they include a lot in the rent here and just remember.... you get what you pay for. Anytime I need something the office staff helps out, wheter it be to use their computer for teh internet or whatever.... The grounds could use some cleanup, but they still look good. Un-like other places, the garbage is picked up here, the water works, the heat works.... Moving here from out of state, I had no idea what this area was like, but I am glad I renteed here. I feel safe, and I don';t have to worry.

I am so happy I decided to live here!
I am so happy i made the decision to live here. The things that are included here make all the difference, and the grounds are kept very nice, the staff is nice, and my kids and I feel safe here.

I dont have to worry when they get off the bus here that something is going to happen to them. I am a single parent, but still feel like I am living in a home. Come to see this place, you will be very glad you did.

"Just Do It"
Just do it. Move-in that is. This place is close to the expressways, shopping, restaurants and entertainment, yet far enough away that is still feels like you are in the country. The leasing girl is really nice, the manager is okay, it seems that she doesnt have time or patience to talk and see how you are doing though, but most important, the emenities are worth the rent I pay.

When you are not paying towards a mortgage you need to feel like you are at least getting something for your money. I have a washer and dryer of my own in the apartment, I dont have to pay for my cable tv and water bill, they give me an alarm system and the gym is free too.

Another thing that most people dont think about is they have a really good maintenance staff here. When ever I have had something break, it was always fixed the first time, I don't have to call back again and again to have it fixed.

Luxurious
If you like the finer aspects of living, move here. These apartments are not like the typical apartment you may picture in your mind. There is no "shag" carpeting or avocado green appliances that break down all the time.

But if you dont want a nice place, or are looking for a cheap apartment, then Dont move in here. I like the staff in the management office, they are really nice, and never make me feel like I am bothering them when I come in with questions. Thease apartments are very nice inside, they have cathedral ceilings on the top floor, nice color and thick carpeting, big rooms, nice bathrooms, and a really big kitchen since I like to cook alot. Also, they have a 24/7 fitness center where I can work out anytime because I work at night. And the pool is really nice, its heated so it is warm all the time and it is open until October. Figure out what you really want in an apartment, what is important to you to feel like you are getting your moneys worth and then go see there model. Youll like it.

Townhome like apartments
These apartments have a townhome atmosphere. For the money you pay every month I think it is worth it. they include alot of amenitiesin the rent, so the money evens out in teh end. I don't ever hear my neighbors, I have a garage attacehd to my apartment, I can work out at the fitness center whenever I want to, I have my own door to my apartment, and everything is a really good quality as far as the building itself. When I am not home to get my packages, the office will hold it for me. And the cable TV is included too, and they just added a bunch of channels too.
