This is a wonderful place to live. Apartments are brand new and gorgeous. Clubhouse is first class. Only issue I have is with the water pressure, it is too low. I live in a pet building and the noise is what should be expected in a pet building.

Just visit and you will fall in love with at least one floor plan and the new appliances and modern feel of the building. The staff is extremely helpful, professional, and personable. I would highly recommend this property to those who are in the budget for a property in their range.

Friendly staff and great amenities. The staff coordinates activities all the time for all ages - movie nights, holiday parties, etc. Pool is great and new basketball, tennis and volleyball courts were just opened

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very easy moving process. Had a small issue wit the cable when we moved in and the staff have worked hard to resolve it immediately. Maintenence staff was quick to fix garage door key pad, and also very friendly.

Tenant above me has since left, but would throw cigarettes from balcony into the private entryway of my apartment. This was a tenant-specific issue, and as such I have not factored that into the ratings below. What I have noticed, however, is that there seems to be no "noise absorbing" later installed under the carpets. Tenants above me (same ones, and probably next ones) could be heard constantly walking around, which became a nuisance when it would be at 2-3 in the morning. It's not like they were stomping around or anything either. They should be able to walk around with worrying about being noisy, and if I were not on the ground floor like I am now, I would probably be concerned about bothering the people below me.

This community is quiet and great if you are looking to get out of the big city. We work in the city and love coming home to our quiet and clean community. Neighbors are friendly and they are pet friendly here too.

Nice but overpriced. Everything is nice new and clean but you pay a lot for it. Also forced to pay for cable that I think is $35/mo (you're not allowed to opt out), a garage is $100/mo extra, there is a pet fee that is either $25 or $50/mo...a lot of extra costs.

The Lakes is a beautiful community. The apartments are very upscale and modern. Do wish they had elevators though. Good amenities. Great staff! They are so accommodating. There is a lovely clubhouse and pool.

The Lakes of Valparaiso is a beautiful facility in an excellent location that is convenient to all of the major highways around us. The local staff here are very helpful, personable and professional. There is no other rental property in the area that comes close to the quality of the apartments, the service from the staff or the amenities on the property. The property is also very dog-friendly, with lots of dog families in the community. Overall, we are very happy here. Specifically, some of the pros are the good construction - I rarely hear my neighbors through the walls and my NIPSCO bills have been less than expected; it is also generally quite outside in the community (once the construction people pack up for the day); the pool is wonderful; the outdoor area at the clubhouse is great for entertaining - I often use the grills out on the patio; and the staff are attentive and very helpful. We are still waiting for the dog park to be finished, but it looks like it will be nice. In the meantime, we have enjoyed our walks through the community and always feel safe. No property is perfect and there are a few things I wish I had known before I chose my apartment. I was in a hurry to move, so I took the only ground floor, two bedroom that was finished at the time. I need an apartment on the ground floor without stairs and there were no ground level units with a garage available when I moved in. If I had more time, I would have waited for my floor plan to have become available in a different spot on the property or a unit with a garage. You will find that some areas have no trouble with parking but other areas have constant parking wars over a handful of spots. Some neighbors also have way more cars than they are supposed to. Parking is not assigned and there are some buildings that do not have lot parking directly in front of their entrance, like the building across from me. Instead of parking along the side their own building (or in some cases inside their own garages), our neighbors across the street park in the spots in front of our entry doors. It is beyond frustrating (not to mention inconsiderate and rude) and I only expect it to get worse when the snow comes. I would absolutely recommend living in this property to a friend, but I would also encourage them to scope out the parking around their prospective building at night to see if it is in one of the overcrowded areas. My only other complaints have to do with utilities. The water is a flat fee based on the number of bathrooms in your unit not actual usage; so as a single occupant with two bathrooms, I am paying more than double what I'm actually using. The water pressure here is also terrible. The showers themselves are wonderful, but the force of the water leaves a lot to be desired. If they're going to force us to pay a flat fee, they could at least give us decent pressure. We also have a flat fee for DISH TV (you can upgrade for more channels if you want and pay more). I don't watch regular TV, so I am not happy about paying an extra $30 every month for something I don't use - especially after overpaying for the water. I can't speak to the quality of the DISH service, because when I did connect the box I don't have a signal, just an error message, and I haven't bothered to call DISH to fix it. Finally we are required to use Frontier for internet and phone and Frontier is the worst company on the planet! I have had nothing but trouble with them from day one and they are completely unhelpful when you call. I work from home and reliable internet is critical to my work. Having Frontier has been a nightmare! Be prepared to call every month for billing errors and sit at home waiting for technicians who never show up. It is a complete waste of time and energy. I will say, to the credit of the Lakes staff, the office manager was able to get a service technician out to replace my router after I, unsuccessfully over numerous calls, could not get Frontier to send someone. The technician came and did the best he could, but Frontier's equipment is garbage. I still ended up having to get my own equipment and run a cable across the apartment to hardwire my computer to get a reliable connection. You will absolutely need to buy your own router or hardwire your computer if you use the internet. So, parking, fixed utilities and Frontier aside, I love living in the Lakes and would recommend it to a friend. The pros here definitely outweigh the cons. My dogs and I plan to be here for a while.

The move in was a little rough, but we credited most of those issues to be because it was a new construction. Those issues were all taken care of in a very short amount of time, and now we are very happy to be living here. The Staff has been super helpful throughout the whole process and know us on a first name basis. The apartment itself is gorgeous and has not had any problems.

I love the community and the professionalism of the staff. Everyone is friendly and always looking for way to help. I like how activities are planned so that we can get out and meet our neighbors which is often hard to do an apartment complex.

Shopping is close and so are main roads so that makes traveling easy. My job is also close so that makes everything perfect. People in the community are friendly. Everybody is out walking their dogs. The buildings are beautiful here.

The lakes community is developing into a unique development. The staff are superb and the facilities are second to none. Having moved from Ireland it has quickly become a home from home. The events held at the clubhouse has really made me feel welcome to the development as well as integrate me into the greater society in Valoaraiso

The apartments are luxurious and include great appliances and design. However, the grounds are not maintained to even low standards. The location is convenient to downtown and Route 49. The rent is very high, but with the BIG exception of the poor grounds keeping, they're the nicest in Valpo.

Great space. Excellent Amenities. Nice layout and new appliances. Beautiful walking trail. These are the things that I noticed from my tour of the complex. The grounds were also beautiful and there is plenty of lighted areas for late night puppy walks or early morning exercise.
