I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone. My apartment smelled like smoke the entire time I was there and I could not get rid of it. The walls were also paper thin so I could hear everything my neighbors were saying (and doing). As another person has stated, Brandywine has a pigeon problem. There are birds everywhere and many people had to put up fishing line just to keep the birds off their balcony. This is a nuisance as well as a health concern. The appliances were probably from the 80's and the apartment was overall miserable. Not too long after i moved in my ceiling started to leak water from someone's dishwasher upstairs. I was on the first floor and the windows have no locks so anyone could just break the window and come right in. Normally, I wouldn't be so worried but someone was sadly murdered at the complex while I was there. Evidently crime has only increased since I gladly moved out. Also prior to moving out, I went into the office a few months in advance of my lease ending to ask if everything was completed for me to move out. The office staff insisted that I had done everything as I was supposed to and all I would need to do is schedule a final walk through. Conveniently, the NEW manager informed that I had not completed my intent to vacate form just a week prior to moving out. I use the word NEW because there were at least 3 different managers during my stay there. I tried to explain myself and that the previous staff informed me i had completed everything I needed to before my lease was ended. The new manager said, " sorry we can't take your word as the people you dealt with have all been fired for appropriate reasons." She was very unprofessional and insensitive to my situation and couldn't even speak proper English. As a result, I had to pay an extra two months of rent for the incompetency of the office staff. All this place wants is to steal your money with any excuse possible. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to rent in Lexington!

DONT EVER RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!! This place is AWFUL!!!! If you just walk into the main office and take one look at the ---------- boss, you will want to turn around and run the other way. When I walked in to tour the property, she didnt even want to do it. Which made me feel as if I wasnt wanted! She went around looking in to all the offices and yelling for people, which werent there, obviously! I'm not going to go into full detail about my visit with this AWFUL manager but please people DONT RENT HERE. She tried to talk me up about how no crimes happen over there, however when leaving from my awful experience, 3 cops were in the parking lot! Then when returning home, I look up on the police website that Brandywine apartments are one of the most targeted areas for criminal activity! Just Stay away, far, far away from these people!

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! I lived there for 3 years, paid my rent on time and never had a complaint. When I moved out the kept my deposite and charged me over $500.00 in "damages' it has been a nightmare and I can not even find another apartment because they tell people horrid things about past residents. I regret living there...please just keep looking!

While looking for affordable living in Lexington I was very impressed by this property. The grounds were well kept and the management was very nice. I also went at night & the property looked pretty safe. I spoke with several residents to be sure before I committed myself to an agreement and they assured me they loved it there. I mentioned seeing negitive post to the residents & they said, they had no issues so I'm pretty sure this is the place for me. I felt compelled to post my findings.

Seriously... Don't move here. You'll be pulling your hair out because of the worthless property manager. I've lived here over two years, and when I first moved in, the property manager was great. Notices were courteous, everything was done promptly, and every request or complaint was taken seriously. The property looked clean and well-maintained. Communication was clear and friendly. The NEW manager, however... is in way over her head, and you can tell by the way that she and her employees treat their tenants, and the way the property looks. She's not meant to manage an apartment complex. She has an excuse for everything. Your water starts coming out brown? Well that's "just chlorine," but she'll have the maintenance man come replace your air filter just to get you to shut up. There are plenty of things that this place DESPERATELY needs, for example, more than one freaking dumpster, but instead, she chooses to waste every dime on picnic tables and barbecues that nobody uses, and plants that look like weeds. Every notice, about everything, comes across very rude. What could be "Please don't forget to pick up your trash by the pool so we can continue to enjoy this great swimming weather" becomes "IF WE FIND TRASH BY THE POOL, IT WILL BE CLOSED ALL SUMMER." Which she actually tried to do, several times. But then again, you're lucky if you actually get any kind of notice, ESPECIALLY about your account. Instead, they'll call you claiming you knew about your balance which they have tacked 150 bucks onto because you sat there not knowing you owed, and they'll call you out of the blue saying you're being evicted tomorrow. No warning letter, no phonecall, just eviction, because the property manager likes how it sounds. And then, when you smile and go turn in your now outrageous rent check, the leasing consultant loudly smacks her McDonalds lunch at you and gives you a sarcastic "thanks." After ALL of THAT. I can't wait to get out of this dump.

Wish i still lived there!
I lived here for three years and moved to a much pricier complex in Lexington (Bridle Creek). I wish I would have stayed at Brandywine! The office staff was responsive and fixed all problems. The pools are open early in the season and are reliably open all summer. Great place--especially for the price!

This place is AMAZING!!!!!
First off.. I see all these negative comments and I assume they are from old management!!! I have been at this property for only 6 months and the old staff I must say were not very friendly and not willing to help residents. However new managers have came into play and this place is very different!!! When I first moved here I had an inncodent with my water heater and the way the lady at the office felt was as if she had to take time away from her time to do her job!!! Now... Those girls at the office are always willing to help in any way!!! They always go the extra mile for their residents!! I also noticed that when I first moved in I went to a resident event that old managers were throwing and the entire time they sat in the office and did not talk to anyone. People tried but they eventually got up and shut the door until the event was over!! However, I must say the Christmas party the NEW managers just threw was amazing. They were so involved and it was a huge turnout which I've never seen there before!!!! Anyone need an apartment... Please go to Brandywine!!! You will love this place!!

Love this PLACE!!!!!!
I have lived at this property since 2008! when I first moved in I had alot of problems with management. However about 4 months ago new management and all new staff came in and this place is AWESOME!!! They are always there to give a helping hand and are the nicest people I have delt with since being here!! I absolutely love how they treat their residents as if they are not there to just do their jobs. They truly care about what they are doing and their residents!! I would recommed this place to anyone@!!!!!!!!

Great!
I live here at Brandywine and I have to admit I love it here! Before the office staff was horrible but they just recently changed the complete office staff and it has really turned the entire place around ! I noticed within 2 months the Parking lots went from empty to full so obviously they are doing something right! Chances are the people on here have either left owing money or have been late on their rent and got late fees and they are mad over that! If you are not happy then find somewhere else to go!

Do NOT give them your time or money
In a nutshell: Management is RUDE. It changed at least 3 times in the 3 years I lived there and never got better. I am a professional and pay my rent on time every month and was treated rudely and condescended to at every turn. The walls are very thin. I could hear my upstairs neighbor peeing and his cell phone ringing. My refrigerator broke and got replaced 3 times with a consecutively older and worse model without being cleaned and without racks on the door. I lost money on groceries.

Cheaters!
I recently moved out of Brandywine apartments and they charged me over 200 dollars for what they claimed to be cleaning of the bathroom and kitchen. I cleaned these rooms thoroughly prior to moving out and have been an excellent tenant. The cleaning charge was overly excessive for an apartment left in very good condition. Also, the walls are super thin. I constantly heard spouses yelling at each other in the next apartment. I wouldn't recommend these apartments. There are much better options in Lexington.

terrible management
Just a few things to add to what is already posted. They will offer you a cheap move in special but it is sooo not worth it. They will find every way possible to suck extra money out of you. The leasing staff is rude. I especially enjoyed every time I went to the pool with my children and the half naked leasing agent ----------------------- with --------------------------- each other....in front of the KIDS. You work here not live here, take it somewhere else. Also, every other week they are threatening to shut down the pool due to trash. The trash comes from all the people who do not rent here who come over after the office is closed but yet you are going to take away our privelages. I was charged for anything and everything that they could find when I moved out so be prepared.

Terrible
I would not recomend this to anyone. It is unsafe, dirty, and the staff/management is horrible. There are hidden fees/fines on everything. I havent been fined or penalized so I am not someone who is just mad about being fined. Even though the rent is cheap, nicer places in the area will be cheaper in the long run. The average electric bill is much higher than at my previous apartment because of the lack in insulation/sealing around the door and windows- around the door is so bad, that when they mulched the landscape- the mulch flew all over my apartment through the cracks around the door.

Sad to Leave
Most people who write reviews on here are really angry, and i get that. I moved out of Brandywine last May and into a new apartment in Nashville, TN. I get what people are saying about the thin walls and stuff, but the thing is that you're pretty much getting what you pay for. If you are only wanting to pay $500 for an apartment, you're not going to be living in the Ritz. I currently pay $800 for an apartment 50 square feet bigger than the one i had at the Brandywine and I am much more miserable here in my nicer, bigger apartment than i was there paying less money for less amenities. No, the Brandywine isn't as nice as some of the other complexes around that part of lexington, but I feel like they always tried to make it as nice and as safe as they reasonably could and still make the apartments that price. I went to UK and didn't have a lot of money, and the worst thing i can really say about the complex is that the drive to campus sucked, but there's definitely nothing near campus for that price so you have to sacrifice. Look, i know people are going to say "this is the office staff padding the reviews" and I probably would too if I was reading a good review on an apartment ratings website, but I honestly miss this complex as opposed to my current one. The complex I live in now takes weeks to get to emergent maintenance issues (my a/c went out for 2 weeks in the worst part of last summer, food went bad and i didn't get any concessions on my rent for being out of A/C for that amount of time), and they have the absolute rudest office staff i have ever dealt with. The thing I miss about the Brandywine is that they at least try. They might not succeed all the time at giving you the best experience, but the maintenance guys were always there when I needed my drain unclogged or something and the office staff once gave me until the 15th of the month to pay with no penalties on my rent because my student loan check was late to come in. I'm just saying, you're not paying for a luxury apartment so don't expect luxury, but I think the Brandywine tries really hard to be as good as it can be and still offer good apartments to lower-income families. Maybe you hate it, but I would rather be living there in my worse apartment with the people in that place than the complex i currently live in where the office people are terrible and you feel like no one cares. I'm not saying that I had the time of my life there, but i guess i didn't know what i had until i left. I hope this helps post helps someone adjust their expectations and get some perspective on what they are paying for. (One thing I will say is that the laundry room sucks. Go to a laundromat to do your laundry because those dryers will NOT dry your stuff and you will end up paying a ton to do your laundry)

Do NOT move here!
I recently rented an apt. here and the walls are thin! I can hear people going to the bathroom, flushing toilets, tv and music and save the BEST for last...you can hear all of the conversations as if they were in the same room as you. Last Thursday (on a work night) there was a couple arguing in the parking lot. I feel like I'm living in a housing project!! The leasing mgr. is very rude and disrespectful. They don't even give you a welcome kit for when you move in. Also, their mailbox center has no garbage can where you can throw away your junk mail, but yet they want to fine you $50 for littering. Put a garbage can and you won't have that problem! They also charge you a 1-time fee of $10 to use the fitness room. Give me a break! They advertise it as an amenity! This is one place that I will be counting the days for my lease to expire.

Highly recommended!
I have been living in Brandywine for 5 months. I absolutely love it!! I don't agree with the negative comments. My experience with the office staff has been very positive. They are highly professional and very helpful. When my refrigerator was leaking I called in a work order and they were here the same day and fixed it very quickly and with a smile! They also called the next day to make sure everything was ok! I also had trouble with opening my mailbox and they fixed that the next day and again called to make sure it was working properly! It is also so clean and pretty here! I love it! I hope to be here for a long time!!

Don't RENT HERE!!!!
This is the worst place I have rented from! The apts. are clean and ok for the price but the office staff is so unprofessional, they treat people like crap like they are so much better than you! Really, you rent apts. for a living! They will nickle and dime you to death. You do not have the grace period til the 5th like most apts. You are charged a VERY large late fee. If you are a few days late then they won't take your check. I received a move in rate and when my lease was over in moved up (which I was fine with but then I am being charged $75 every month in addition to that!!) That is crap! They made it seem like it was going to be a one time fee! They put notes on my door about having cig. buds that were not mine but my neighbors. They tried to put an eviction letter on my door for having a pet that I did not have! I had no pets!!! I am now paying $95 more a mnth than when I signed. Then to top it all off I have to give a 60 day notice instead of a 30 day like most people. The staff is horrible.

Do not expect a place to live
I have lived at the Apt for one year. the apartment is horrible!!!! It unhealthy!! The price was just roughly $500 but the utility fees are normally $150 (Can you believe this?). They connected to Blue grass energy company for electiricity and they burden excessive water fees to residents. But it has no value for that price. Rather it is too expensive relatively its services, amenities and circumstances. I have fungus problem in there, but they didn't fix it. During lived there, I should remove the fungus and clean up the walls and doors of the house every day, but they grow up every day. I got sickness from fungus, but they do not apologize. So I have shown the pictures to them, but they did not even try to see it. I have attached one of the pictures. Also please remember that the worst thing of the apartment is the staff. There's no maintenance, no etiquette, and no apology. They are horrible persons.

DONT LIVE HERE
I have lived at Brandywine for about a year and a half. My lease is about up here I wont be renewing it. The office staff is TERRIBLE. They are the rudest bunch of people I have dealt with. Rent might be cheap but your electric bills in the winter will be out of this world! I have a one bedroom apartment and I had at least 3 electric bills over $100!!! The kitchens are so outdated. My dishwasher backs up under my sink so now I cant use it. The fridge leaks water all over the floor when you open the doors. There are also these huge centipeds that crawl all over the walls and ceilings. I personally have sprayed my place and had whoever the office hires to come in a spary and it doesnt kill them. It is so gross! The lay out of the one bedroom apartment is not useable. If you are on the ground floor in a one bedroom you have this cut out where your neighbors stairs are and there is not much you can do with that space. Its a waste. Bad layout. Ive heard this place is soon going to start allowing section 8 move in. I work too hard to have the place I live go to ----. Dont move here and get out while you can!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY LIVING HERE!
This place is a joke. I spent over 3 years living here. The staff is the most unprofessional, rude group of people I have ever encountered. They don't help in anyway, all you ever get is an evil look from the whole group. As a matter of fact, while going to the pool, to enjoy one of the accommodations they provide, my Husband and I were harassed, but a woman who claimed to have been associated with the apartment complex asking to see my pool pass. At that time, I never knew a thing about a pool pass, and still to this day don't know, because after basically being thrown out of the pool by this woman, I decided it was time to depart from this horrible apartment complex. They don t care about their tenants, all they want is your money. I advise you use caution, as I strongly feel my husband and I were discriminated against because of our skin color. They day we were harassed at the pool, the woman (who once again had no authority whatsoever) never approached another person for a pass, but because she was a complete REDNECK with no class, nor life for that matter, that it was necessary to harass us because of our skin color. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY USE EXTREME CAUTION. This place is dangerous, my car was keyed numerous times, and the staff never once helped in resolving any of these issues. If you want to throw your money at a bunch of discriminating, rude, people, then move here, otherwise, check out other apartment complexes who have a lot more to offer than crappy apartments, along with horrible attitudes. BE CAREFUL! Coming from a 3 year tenant, I would never say one word about this place positive. As a matter of fact, I do think I will be proceeding with suit against them for the discrimination we were put through. Its 2010 people. Unless you want to be judged by a group of trashy folks, I say, STAY AWAY!

DON'T LIVE HERE!!
This was not exactly our best experience. Although it was great at first and definitley a great price for what we got, we learned why they were able to give us such a great deal for our rent. They screw people over (excuse my French). We gave a proper 60 day notice as is necessary to avoid excessive fees (and this notice brought us right up to the end of our lease). I informed the manager that we would be moving out most of our stuff, but we were not abandoning the apartment. She instructed us to move it all out if possible so they could show the apartment and possibly rent it out to someone else. So we did. They are tyring to say we abandoned the apartment, nail us with late fees for not paying full rent in Feb (we tried to, but they kept saying no, it's prorated htis month, like it would be if someone rented our apartment already). Overall, they want to charge us about $1500 more than what it should cost for us to finish our lease and move out. The manager was VERY VERY degrading, disrespectful, rude (do I need to continue......). I would not recommend this. The front desk staff is great when you deal with them, but the manager, if you ever have any questions....YIKES. Avoid it like the plague. Additionally, we had several kitchen problems. Our dishwasher never worked, even after they worked on it 4 times and told us 3 times they were replacing it. The kitchen sink leaked BAD and they worked on it about 6 times, replacing the faucet twice before finally getting it to stop leaking. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who cares about maintenance and has even the slightest possiblity of moving out even a month early.

STAY AWAY!!!!
Brandywine is a awful place to live. We lived there for 2 years and were uphappy for the last year and a half. Police are ALWAYS there busting someone for drugs or fights. I dont know how many nights there were more than 6 cops cars chasing someone down. AND my car was broken into in the middle of the night and someone stole over 700 dollars worth of equipment! The office staff was SO RUDE! Although I can say the maintenence people were great! We recently moved out and they tried to charge us all this extra money. They turned us into a collection agengy wihtout even letting us know! When we called them about it they said we were lying about eveythting. After they looked at it longer they dicovered that the damages they were charging us for were already there before we moved it!!!! They will CHEAT and LIE to get all the money they can from you. DO NOT SIGN A LEASE TO LIVE THERE!!!!

So far so good
I moved in March of this year and so far things have been good. I haven't had any porblems. The staff is great and always friendly. I've never had a problem with parking. Being a single woman and coming in out at night I can definitely say I feel safe. I like that the fact that they don't nickel and dime you in pet fees! And of course rent is affordable. Everywhere else I looked wanted much more for less space. Brandywine had the biggest one bedroom available for for a great price. I must that I am very happy with my decision to move here!

Best deal for the price
I've lived at Brandywine for a year and have been very happy with it. The apartment is spacious and the grounds are very well maintained. Office staff is easy to work with and my maintenence requests were always very quickly dealt with. It is quiet, well-lit, and I always felt safe here. It's right on the edge of a very nice, beautiful, neighborhood. It is a little older so it's not quite as nice as somewhere like Merrick place or Park place but its also significantly cheaper. You definitely will not find a better apartment for the same price. Brandywine is a great deal and I would definitely reccomend it.
