Avoid Brandywine
I moved from Brandywine to Columbus, Ohio in order to attend Ohio State's MBA program.

My biggest complaint about Brandywine is due to the fact that I moved out with 3 months remaining on the lease and Brandywine waited for 2 months before they cleaned the apartment and began showing it for re-rental. Needless to say, they "conveniently" were unable to re-rent the apartment for the remainder of my lease.

Given that my wife and I were as close to the ideal tenants as one could hope for, I would say that Brandywine was less than friendly towards it's renters.

I worked there for a *very* short period of time.
I believe Brandywine is now overseen by different people, but when I worked there I was very uncomfortable. More than a few times I stressed that potential tenants were going to be trouble, or unable to even pay their first month's rent, or both; I was told to rent to them anyway (and boy was I right--especially in one particular instance that resulted in a total disaster). There were a couple of questionable leases that the manager discreetly (for her, anyway) suggested I turn a blind eye to, so I did. I had more than a couple of potential tenants speak to me in a suggestive manner, and I was encouraged to use that to get them to sign a lease. The maintenance/housekeeping staff, while perfectly nice to me, were unprofessional in how they discussed the tenants' apartments/lives. In other words, they told all and liked gossip. A LOT. Worst of all, the front office was broken into, and as someone who worked weekends alone this terrified me...especially considering we all knew who did it but nothing was ever done. 'The office doesn't accept cash, so there wasn't anything to steal, really,' I was told.
My personal opinion is that it's very, very average. It looks average--no real landscaping, mostly just a giant parking lot. It's isn't exactly a convenient location, but you could do worse. They allow pets and the fee isn't bad, and the overturn job done by maintenance and housekeeping between tenants is pretty good. You can get various types of leases (1 year, 6 months, 3 months, month to month). However. There are no washer/dryer hookups. Laundry and trash facilities are pretty inconveniently located. There is no overhead lighting (when people overlook this and later complain, they are told to "Buy a lamp." I'm not saying it's anyone's fault but their own that they didn't discover it before move-in day, but come on). Ultimately, I was glad to leave but I wouldn't tell someone not to live there. But when it comes time to move, you better not even be missing a lightbulb, because they will charge you out the wazoo. I was told to look at every single inch of the apartments and try and find anything wrong.

Complete Hell !!!!
Where in the world could I possibly start. I should've known not to live there from the very beginning. The manager and the coporate ------- that was there at the time made unappropriate comments about my fiance being from another country. They even wanted to see tax records which I had to tell them it was none of their business. The management are the most rudest B's I've ever seen. They are threatening and will not leave the tenants alone. While I lived there the manager was constantly thinkking up some sort of crap to harass me with. I belive I recived over 40 letters on my door during the year I lived there. Now mind you, I am a college student, but I am a graduate student with an full time job, so I was never there!!! Sometimes it would be really mean stuff other times it would be crap like your neighbor smells something, we'll need to come check it out. We had 4 impromtu inspections while I lived there. This means they could come in any time in a two week period. If you want a community where you can pay your rent and then be left alone, DONT MOVE HERE! Everyone that lived around us hated this place! I have lived in other apartments and never had any problems. This place is hell on earth. Possibly if they fired all the trailer trash management then this place could be ok. The manager even got in my roommates face one time in the office and threatented her big time. Don't rely on their corporate office for any help either. If you move here your a fool. This place will quickly become a nightmare. The maintenace is ok. One of the guys is really nice and knows what he's doing. The other one is an --- that breaks stuff then blames it on the resident. We didn't recieve a dime of out deposit back even though we kept it spotless. I had to fight with them even after I moved out. I live in a great place now for the same price and its great. We had drug dealers that lived across from us that I would trust more than the management. It made my life very stressfull and I surely didn't need that.

Mediocre
Brandywine was not the best place I've lived, but not the worst either.

The rent was a little high, but the apartment was spacious. The laundromat was far away, as was the dumpster, so that was a negative. The office staff at the time was very nice, although I cannot speak for the current management, I have not lived there for a few years.

Even at the time, the tenants were often undesirable. For instance, while we were on vacation, we received a noise complaint. Management was kind enough to disregard it, since we could prove we were out of town at the time of the complaint. We had several run-ins with neighbors complaining about noise from our apartment... when we weren't there, or when we were asleep.

These are not problems that management could have prevented but it does speak to the kind of residents they rent to. I did not feel safe in the complex, and did not like to come home after dark.

HORRIBLE
This was a horrible place to stay. I lived here for a year and quickly moved away. It was very loud and unfriendly. You can hear everything that your neighbor does, and I do mean everything. The toilet fixture in the master bedroom was tore up half of the time that I stayed there. The smoke alarm went off so much while I was cooking that I had to disconnect it altogether. It was a horrible experience. I just got my deposit back and despite my cleaning efforts, I only got back $2.00. That apartment was so clean when I left. Renter Beware. This is a horrible place to live. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy....

I hate it here!
My car has been broke into twice and what do they do? They put up a camera in front of the garbage bin...and there is only one of those for the whole complex, it is always full! The people in the office are also rude! OH, and they raise my rent everytime I renew my lease...alot!

Very disappointed...Where do I begin?
I ended up in a tight spot and needed an apartment within a week. Brandywine seemed like a good choice because I was getting an 499 apartment for 399. Turns out that they tell eveyone that at all times of the year. I haven't known anyone who ever paid 499 for the one bedroom but they always think they are getting a great deal. I just resigned a lease after being mislead. The apartment manager (who is a pain in the ---) told me that there was no way that they could lease the apartment for 399 again. So I resigned on the 24th of this month at 449/month. Then I noticed on the first of this month that I had three new neighbors moving in. All of which told me they got their apartments at 399 /month. Try to find something else. I wouldn't recommend it.

THE WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX EVER
I have lived in apartments for over 20 years and have never had an experience like this. This is THE worse place I have ever lived. There is a serious bug problem (and these are very large bugs) and trash problem (with the accompanying varmints). The apartments are poorly constructed and you can hear everything. They make no effort to enforce quiet rules. I am counting the days until my lease is up and I can get out of here.

Not reccomended at all
Brandywine is not worth it, there are raccoons and skunks all over and they will do less than nothing about it. They give complaints out like candy and make sure that it is clear that they can evict you whenever they want. There are normally police there to stop drug dealers and you can hear you up or downstairs neighboors easily thur the celing. Horribly insulated with a bug promlem to boot. You should wonder why they pay you $300 to refer people, yea right,I wouldn´t do that for $1,000. For questions... duncnutz@aol.com

look elsewhere
You´d be better off looking elsewhere. It´s too noisy and the staff does not reply to my complaints of unruly neighbors. THey used to have a security guard, but they have gotten rid of him. There are also all sorts of hidden charges that they don´t inform you of when you sign the lease. It is not a cheap place, and for this sort of money one should expect, and get, more.

Absolutely Horrible place to live
I lived at Brandywine for about 6 mos. and hated it the entire time. Upon move in I did the typical run-through where you notate anything that is already wrong with the apartment. I heavily notated that the carpets were worn, ripped, etc. Upon move-out they still charged me for replacing the carpets. The staff was extremely rude and uncaring even though I paid my rent in advance every month. The trash situation was ridiculous, there was only one medium sized dumpster for the entire complex. It was always overflowing and full of skunks and possums. The apartment itself was overpriced for the size and amenities. The pools were always overcrowded and the laundry facility was always a mess and didn´t even have a change machine. I wish I had just one good thing to say about that place except I am ecstatic to be gone!!!

Its Gotten Worse Now.....
Brandywine was recently sold to another management company. Months prior to the sell i began to notice a drastic increase in occupancy and a dramatic change in the "stereotype" of people moving in. In one weekend alone, the 3 vacant apartments beside of me now had new tenants moving in that i would call my neighbors. but the occupants were not that of a high class, or even middle class, they would easily be classified as "trailor park trash" and you could find classier people on an episode of Jerry Springer!

After speaking with a employee of Brandywine whom is no longer employeed there, my suspicions were confirmed. Before being placed on the market, Brandywine began to move in anyone who applied and paid a deposit, regardless of meeting any qualifications. This was done in order to increase their occupancy, so their numbers would look good for the sale.

Over the time period where they moved anyone in; my car was broken into once and my roomate´s car twice, one of our new neighbors could be Marlyn Manson´s sister and another neighbor not only brought a party with her every night but also moved and entire mexican family in with her as well. I thought Fair Housing Laws, prohibited no more than 2 persons per bedroom. Ive seen more -------- come out of her aprtment than clowns from a clown car!

The amenities here are nothing even the slightest of special nor nice. There is only 2 outdoor pools which are always overpopulated. The grounds are in dire need of some attention for it seems that I can not walk in the grass without stepping in a pile of dog ----. And expect to pay an extremely high electric bill through Bluegrass Energy in addition to paying water, your other bills, and unreasonably priced rent. Brandywine only pays for trash which is ridiculous. There is only one garbage dumpster for the entire community, which is filled and disgustingly overflowing within a matter of days.

Before even considering moving here, determine whats important to you and if those special needs are found here. Personally, i think at one time Brandywine was a great place to live but not now. Now i count the remaining days untill my lease expires and look forward to moving out of newly found Lil´ Mexico and away from those that can be found on Jerry Springer!

It could be worse
The main thing that bothers me about these apartments is that this month they not only increased my rent, but also started making the rentors pay for their own water. Before the water had been included in the rent. I have lost money in the laundry facilities several times. The very attractive 2 foot wall in front of my apartment makes it impossible to get from the parking lot to the apartment without a long trip around the wall or taking a dangerous jump. There is no recycling and the dumpster is always full and disgusting. The best thing these apartments have going for them is the maintenance. They are very quick and do a very good job. They are always working outside with the grass and shrubs and it is kind of annoying to hear the mowers (all day, everyday), but it does look really nice.

points good and bad
I moved into Brandywine because they had a move in special which made it much easier for me to get into an apartment...Over time I noticed the complex is a little out of the way: it´s past Man o War and most everything in Lexington is ´inside the circle´ There´s only one place to take trash which by Saturday was always full. Like disgustingly overflowing. NO recycling either! There are better places to live, but I´ll give the place a decent rating because they are built well and the people were always very nice.
