Have nice office and maintenance staff. The complex is close to shopping and many different places to eat. The apartments are kept well and have recently had all new kitchen appliances installed. The only negative about the apartments is that the laundry closet/room can be tricky to work with as the complex was built in the 80's and was not built with modern washer/dryer's in mind.

The best deal I found in Lexington that had a washer and dryer hookup and accepted pets. Amanda, in the front office, is extremely helpful and nice. There's a pool and a small fitness center, tennis courts, and a small garden as well. Plus, it's close to new circle and downtown!

This is a good community and place to live. The rent can be a little high but the gym, gardens, and pool are pretty nice. Parking gets a little tight at night but I've never had trouble finding a spot in the lots. The lighting all over the complex could overall be improved.

For the most part it's been fine. Besides the rent being too much for the quality of the apartment, the only other problem I personally have is that the people that live below us smoke marijuana in their apartment daily, even though there's a strict no smoking policy on the property. The smell seeps up into our apartment, and I'm hot with it as soon as I walk in the door.

As I was looking for a place to rent the staff at Breckinridge leasing office were very professional, helpful as well as understanding regarding my time since I had just moved from another state. The process was flawless as they explained the documents needed as well as reminded me of the many things with a 2 mile radius to enjoy. I would rent from this company due to the staff as well as the value.

Generally okay. Safe and pretty timely responses to maintenance requests. Definitely needs updating so don't plan on doing much entertaining but it will do for someone who can ignore stuff like that. Try to be thoughtful about when you rent from them because there can be significant price differences in rent from month to month. Convenient to campus and downtown and plenty of restaurants and stores.

Potential Residents BEWARE!!!!! Do NOT sign a lease, unless you ask for the correct information AGAIN, AND AGAIN....AND AGAIN! We were given the wrong information multiple times, and the manager only admitted to this AFTER I wrote an email to the property they are owned by. She just wanted us to sign that line, so she could take our money. We were shown an apartment and given a price per month. Very satisfied with the experience SO FAR, we continued on with the application. She then stated that the price she gave us was wrong and that the appliances were OLDER as the apartment she had the mix-up with. She tried to get us into a downgraded apartment, at the price we thought the first one was. Okay. When we called to ask some questions, she said that we were mistaken and the appliances were actually NEWER in the apartment she was trying to give told us the day prior they were older. They would only give us the deposit back, for an apartment that was nothing as described, if we gave her an application an apartment that was NOTHING as described. We were mislead. The manager was smug, rude, and she deleted my Facebook comment. She does NOT want people to know she was giving false information. People and their hard earned money deserve to know about this experience. DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE.

I have lived here for the past year and am very satisfied! It is a reasonable price for this side of town. The office staff and maintenance have been great to work with. I would recommend living here.

I have absolutely enjoyed my stay at Breckinridge Court apartments for the last year and hope this review can help potential future residents make a decision to rent here. I am a recent graduate and this was my first apartment I have ever rented. I will be moving to another complex in December, but only because I have received additional promotions at my job the last year and I would like to move to a smaller complex with higher end apartments. I came to visit Breckinridge Court last December and met with Rachel May who was incredibly helpful. She took me on a tour around the property showing me several floor plans available in staged and available units. I toured one of the available 675 sq. ft. one bedroom units and fell in love and immediately signed a lease. The office was flexible with a move-in date and even worked to make sure I got a new stove and dishwasher prior to move in. The unit I moved into also had new carpets. It gave me a huge peace of mind being able to see my unit before signing the lease. This complex is definitely not a high end apartment, but it is definitely worth the price in Lexington. Even the larger one bedrooms are still affordable for a single person. It definitely has some older features. For instance, the cabinetry is outdated and the laminate looks cheap and looks as if it was installed quickly and not with care. But again with the price in Lexington you will not find anything with the positive features it does offer for cheaper. For reference from 2015-2016 I paid a base rent of $575 a month with a $20.00 a month increase for pet rent. Also my water bill ranges from $27-35 a month. My utilities were about $90 in the winter, but I love heat. And $30-50 in the summer. While living here I have never had any major issues, but maintenance was extremely prompt even with the simplest of requests. They were often there within the hour, or later in the day. I never had to wait more than 24 hours for a maintenance request to be fixed. Also, the maintenance staff is incredibly friendly. I had an issue with my car door lock freezing in winter; they saw me outside struggling and spent 20 minutes in the freezing cold to help. Also if they saw me walking around the complex they would ask if I was having an issues with things they had fixed in my apartment, I never did. Also this complex in my opinion is incredibly safe. I am a single female living in a first floor apartment in the back of the complex, arguable the most "unsafe" unit to live in on the property, and I have never had safety concern. I usually always have my sliding glass door open when it is nice outside. I also work second shift, so I am coming in and out late at night. Again, never felt unsafe and would highly recommend my unit, and any unit on the property to a single female with confidence knowing they will be safe. Also the surrounding neighborhood is safe, there are many afternoons I have spent walking around the neighborhood by myself with no issue. Kirklevington Park is great to have so close by and will miss it. This apartment complex is also incredibly quiet. I never once heard my neighbors. I have never even heard a TV on a little too loud or people above me. I also have an extremely needy cat who frequently likes to "talk" and none of my neighbors have ever approached me about her making noise, so I am assuming they cannot hear her. I do want to touch on the complaints I have seen listed about the office staff. As I mentioned the leasing agent Rachel May was incredibly helpful when moving in and very pleasant when I was giving my 60 day notice. She is honestly the only member of the office staff I have dealt with, but I have never had a reason to talk with anyone else in the office. I will say that whenever I have placed a maintenance request they were always sympathetic. I feel as if you pay your rent on time and treat people with respect, you will never have any issue. One issue I do agree with on the complex is parking. As I said I work second shift so often I am trying to park in the complex around midnight. The unit I live in has absolutely no parking available at night, this is mostly due to how the building is positioned and the lack of parking in front of the unit to begin with. I do often find myself walking quite a distance from where I parked to my unit at night. This is not an issue for all units though, because I normally end up parking in front of the same building every night, so had I lived in a unit in that building, parking would be great. I suggest to any prospective resident to tour the unit when you would be coming home from work to see how parking would be for the unit you are interested in prior to signing a lease. For me this is not a deal breaker, but it can definitely be frustrating. Also please be aware that when moving in you will only be allowed to get internet and cable through one company called Suite Solutions. I do not have cable, but the slowest possible Wifi package that will run HD Netflix does cost $42.82 monthly. I find this to be slightly more than competitors and wish the complex allowed different options. I cannot really speak about the laundry facilities, gym, or pool as I have not used them. In all I would highly recommend this apartment, and have recommended the complex to several coworkers and friends. I hope this review helps any potential future residents.

I lived here in two different apartments, a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom. The 2 bedroom was in an older building. The concrete on the stairs were all broken up and one stair was an placed correctly and tripped everyone who ever came to my place. Not safe at all. Our fridge was so old it had turned yellow and had the fake wood trim. We requested a newer one with an ice maker like my 1 bedroom had. Matainence brought one without an ice maker, not a big deal, but when they did they were not careful at all. They dug a big scratch on our entry way floor and 5 scuff marks on our walls. Matainence is slow at fixing any problem in general. Old buildings have a major bug problem. Constantly finding bugs in our apartment. Newer buildings don't seem to have that problem yet. When I first moved in, the woman was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. She left and now everyone is new and don't know anything. I'd go in to ask questions and they weren't know or fumble to find an answer. Not professional. This past month we were late for rent, first time ever, and it was a holiday on the 4th. We go to pay rent and there's a paper taped over the drop box saying its late and you have to pay in person. I pay it on the 5th with the $35 late fee. Is what it is. 2 days later I get a note on my door saying I owe another $5 for a late fee for the 5th. I went in to ask because not only did I pay it on the 5th (so why should I have to pay a late fee for that day?) but I also could not pay it on the 4th due to the fact that they were closed for holiday and the paper was taped over the drop box. So I ask and she continues to fight over $5 saying the paper wasn't taped over the drop box when I was there myself trying to pay rent and it most defiantly was...

Holy cow! What a dump. The office staff is rude , very unprofessional, and ignorant to boot. Something has happened to the maintenance staff I never see the old staff around here anymore. These new guys are not very knowledgeable and it takes them multiple trips to fix anything. There's dog crap everywhere and nobody seems to care this used to be a really pretty place but the staff now doesn't seem to care.STAY AWAY FOLKS! As soon as I get out of school I'm outta here!

DO NOT RENT HERE! LOOK ELSE WHERE! My name is Jose and i am currently a resident at this atrocious apartments. I am here because i am at my last straw with these people. Lets start from the beginning, we first rented a 1 bedroom apartment (302) only to come to the conclusion that the bedroom window wasnt sealed correctly. So everytime it rained water inserted into the apartment, over time mold started to grow and the complex employees continued to ignore it. Eventually it came to the point where it was no longer possible to ignore the black mold making its way from the window the surrounding walls thus becoming a health hazard so they offered us a "new 2 bedroom apartment" that we got to move to for "free!" Imagine that, how nice of them to not charge us for moving into another apartment on their complex due to mold. But in the end we never received our deposit back because of this or that or this or that. Upon moving into the "New" apartment it was clear that it had been vacant for quite some time. Spider webs were EVERYWHERE inside and outside of the apartment. Within a month MORE mold started growing in the wall where the washer/dryer unit goes, which shares the same wall with the guest bedroom closet. Had i not reached to grab a coat i would have never noticed it, but by the time i did it had grown so much that the mold transferred from the wall to my coat, shoes, and carpet. They brought in a "specialist" which determined it wasn't mold it was mildew, right. They proceeded to fix the problem and life goes on. The month after that our air conditioning unit, during the cold season, wasn't keeping us warm. Which was odd because it sounded like it was working overtime with the noises it was making, but the temperature never reached anywhere close to where we set it at 70 degrees. Once again they came back and "fixed" the problem. But they didn't, soon after the problem remained and another "specialist" was called. He came in and replaced the thermostat and it seemed all was right. Indeed you guessed it, it wasn't. Although the AC unit reached our set temperature, a new problem arose to where it would go past 70 degrees. Way past, i'm talking 86 degrees at one point. Costing us insane amounts of money on our electric bill because even when we turned the unit off it continued to "Work." After about a week or so they finally fixed it and the apartment complex offered to take off half of next months rent. Even though we spent well over the $375 in discounts from them on our electric bill that month. About a month ago we noticed that water was dripping from over the shower head in our bathroom, not uncommon right? Wrong. Air bubbles were starting to form and our old friend mold was back again. Apparently there was a hole in the showering area of the residents above us. So they proceeded to spray it down with a disinfectant/ killer and called it a day. Today we are once again experiencing the problem of our ac not shutting off once it reaches the set temperature and that is what brought me here today. I am not one to complain because i was raised to fix things myself. But when you sign a contract and uphold your end of it-it is expected that you receive that same kind of respect. I am by no means blaming the maintenance men because they are trying to do the best they can with what they are given. No, i am blaming the select few who decides where the money goes and stays. The few who are too ignorant to realize that they are leasing out units that have no reason to be leased in the sake of making more money. My my how different things would be if i charged them for every inconvenience like they do their residents. And they do. Cigarette butt on your unit's vicinity? 50$. Have a pet? $250 deposit PLUS $50 a month. Leaving a poop bag next to your door because you'll just take it tomorrow to the trash can, 50$. Light bulbs not replaced? $20 each. Even if i left this place exactly how they gave it to me i'm sure they would find a reason to not give us back our deposit. Sadly these people are crooks. They do not maintain these buildings at all, and i am just worried that one of these days someone can get hurt. God forbid it's an innocent little kid. You are not allowed to smoke on the entire complex but people do anyways. You are supposed to pick up after your dog but be careful walking in the grass. And as i've mentioned before getting things "fixed" here is a joke. I was lured by the affordable living price like many people are, but in the end you get what you pay for. There are no pros here, only cons. I urge you to highly reconsider moving here. The price is just right, but everything else is not. More and more things in our apartment are slowly falling apart and i'll be damned if the maintenance men don't fix it before my lease is up, because if i get charged for it i'm afraid i might have to resort to extreme measures. You have been warned. I am not one to complain, but i will be posting this on every site that will allow me to write a review. These people need to be stopped.

I have lived here for 2 years too long! When I was first looking at apartments I stopped here and they showed me the model and I was impressed. I talked to other people who had lived there and they seemed happy with it however, when I moved in I had nothing but problems. I was given a handicap apartment without knowledge and almost got evicted my first week because my leasing agent did not collect my rent up front and was charged a bunch of late fees because it was past the due date. This is a smoke free property and so they only allow you to smoke IN your car on out on the sidewalk in front of the apartment. If you're caught smoking on the property they fine you $50. The amenities aren't all they are cracked up to be. They have a gym that you pay $10 for but it's hardly a gym at all. Management is horrible! I asked for a receipt for my rent when I first started living here and they said they didn't write receipts but could make a photo copy of the check. I don't understand how a property can collect rent and not write a receipt? I only renewed my lease because I didn't have much time to look else where but when I renewed my rent went up $22 and they wouldn't honor the discount they gave me the year before for working for the University even though I still worked for the University. Then when I asked them if it would be possible to switch to an apartment that was not handicap accessible they wanted to charge me more and told me one wouldn't be available until September. I would live else where as you don't get much bang for your buck.

My experience with Breckinridge Court was less then pleasant. The first floor unit I lived in smelled odd when I moved in, I found out from a neighbor it was because raw sewage had backed up in the unit. The heater never worked properly and my electric bills were huge. The office sends you a bill each month for the water, my bill averaged $50 per month, I lived in a house previously and never had a bill larger then $37. Once I moved out I was given my deposit back but then they filed a claim against my renters insurance so they could get new carpet.....the maintenance team looked less then desirable and I had to request three and four times to get anything fixed in my unit. I would not recommend this complex to anyone. The parking is impossible, the office personnel is not helpful and the maintenance dept is a joke.

Before writing this, I looked through each of the reviews to see what people were saying. I saw both good and bad reviews. I understand everyone has their experiences and im not in any position to judge it. However, let me explain how great of an experience I had in my short time at Breckinridge apartments in an attempt to maybe rebuild the trust in this apartment community. About 5 months ago I had a really unique situation happen that caused me to have to find somewhere to live. I did not know if it would be permanent so I signed a 12 month lease. I could spend a lot of money on somewhere to stay but I wanted a safe neighborhood. A friend of mine recommended it to me and I took them at their word. The day I went to look at the apartments the staff was really helpful and patient with my while I sorted through my budget. They provided me with what electric and water would run me on average. Well, I decided it was for me and moved in. while living there I had to make one maintenance call and they had it finished the same day. Fast forward 5 months and my unique situation changed. Well I was obligated to pay for the 7 remaining months or there were other options. The staff was very empathetic to my situation moving in and made things happen to get me out of my contract without paying as much as I would have. I called them repeatedly but they never showed frustration. They were always so helpful and kept me up to date. None of this stuff had to be done. They helped me out when I needed them. Great community and staff.

I have lived here 4 yrs..and that is 4 yrs too long. We are finally buying a townhouse and are moving!! I really do not know where to begin. Management is a joke. Maintenance is a joke. Amenities are a joke. We have had water leaks several times a year. The last time it took them 4 times before the "fixed the leak." The water ran into the bedroom and into the hall from the water heater/air condition closet. They used a water vac but the mold smell is unbearable! I had to clean the mold off the wall. They never came back to check. We have had leaks above us and have water rings on the ceiling in three different rooms. We had water coming through a vent in ceiling that is over the toilet. Was this from the person's above me toilet? It's gross to think about it. I cleaned all day. Pet owners are suppose to pickup pet waste but it is not enforced. When I reported several people after watching their dogs poop, I was told "they" (management or staff) would have to witness it. How can they witness it when not one of them live here!? I was told that non-working air conditioning in 90 degree weather is not an emergency. I have breathing and heart problems. I could go on but I think you get the message. Also, two different people gave my name as a referral when they moved in and I never received a cash bonus that is advertised. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY!

I cannot wait until my lease is over. This is my second year here, and it just keeps getting worse. The management team is a joke and rude. The maintenance enters without knocking. Some residents are tacky and leave trash by their doors, and management does nothing about it. Furthermore, people are allowed to have boxes and other "junk things" on their balcony. It is NOT worth the price they are charging, and I wish I had realized this sooner. The laundry facility is disgusting, and the washers and dryers are never cleaned out. It is unsafe and is NOT locked from the public like it should be. It is located in one building, and unless you go very early, you will wait forever for a machine. Furthermore, let's talk about the pool. This summer, human feces laid on the ground next to the pool for over four days. The neighborhood is also going downhill, and cars were broken into as a series a few months back. However, there is of course a rent renewal increase because "property value went up..." Can we talk about how the cabinets are pieces of plywood from the 80s?

We have lived at Breckinridge Court going on two years. When we first moved in, we were living in a townhouse, and had decided to downsize to save money. The ladies in the office helped in every way they could to find something that suited our likings. The apartment we moved into is wonderful, we never have any problems with noise. The maintenance staff is wonderful, we have always dealt with Steve and he is always kind, professional, and friendly. He knows what he is doing and he gets the work done in a timely manner, and never leaves a mess. In my personal opinion, I think we have a wonderful office staff, including the manager. It would be easy to mistake her as "rude" but she is just to the point and outspoken, she knows her stuff! I have never been spoken to in a rude tone, but I have also never been rude to them. I believe in the phrase, "if you show respect, respect is what you'll get." The grounds are always kept up, and the amenities are wonderful. I would reccomend this complex to anyone!

I've lived at Breckinridge since July 2013 and my experience has been wonderful. The office staff and maintenance are helpful, friendly and courteous. I started out in a 2-bedroom and then after two years requested a 1-bedroom as I didn't need the extra space anymore. Being a full-time non traditional graduate student, I live on a tight budget and the leasing staff, on both occasions worked with me on finding just the right apartment for what I was needing. My electric bills are reasonable, the amenities located on the premise clean and nice, and the location is close enough to UK campus (~ 4.5mi) that I can bike or drive in easily, but far enough away that I don't have to deal with the 20 something college kids.

This place may look really nice on the outside, but do not be fooled! The office staff are horrible. Mostly the office manager. They make promises they will not keep and blam you for their disorganization. When you try to confront them they take over and yell at you and blam you for something they should have fixed. When the manager called to address my maintaince problem she became very offensive when I asked about the 48 hour guarantee and I was told I was not aloud in the office until I had calmed down.... This being said I NEVER raised my voice, and only told the manager I wanted to speak to her in person. She refused to let me talk. She would not let me get a word in while on the phone with her. She yelled at me the entire time. I feel she disrespected me horriably. I have never been late for rent and I have always been on top of letting them know about maintaince problems, yet somehow everything is my fault. The problem with this apartment community lies solely with the office manager at Breckenridge court apartments. According to other reviews I am not the only one who has a problem with this apartment or the office manager. Do not move here!

When we initially move in to the apartment they treat as friends, but when we move out that time they treat as enemies. I have signed a 10 months lease with them (Mid 2014- ~ mid 2015). I have submitted my notice vacate form 60 days before of my lease expires. I have mentioned there my lease expire date and by mistakenly I have entered the starting date of my lease in the vacate of the premises. I thought every things is fine with that. Before I vacate the apartment I went to leasing office to settle my account. They said you have to be here one more year or other wise you needs to pay two months rent as penalty. I have asked them why? they said you have mentioned to here up to 2016. That is 14 months from that date. If I want to stay another 14 months, why should I submit that notice to vacate form. She (Property manager) is very rude on me, and she is not at all listen my words. What is the aim of Notice to Vacate form? is it for extending the lease or is it to vacate notice. If they have any doubts they have confirm with residents. They should not take their favorable decisions. I didn't understand at all their behavior. They are money grabbers, cheaters. They don't have humanistic ethics. Be-careful with these people.

The property is very well maintained, especially for it to be heavily populated by college students. The grounds are picked up daily i always see the guys out there cleaning up.The new maintenance staff is top notch in my opinion, compared to what we once had here these guys are awesome. The new maintenance supervisor is a man of his word , i had an issue in my apt. that was not an easy fix , yet it was done in a timely manner they cleaned up after themselves , and the supervisor kept me informed the whole way.The office staff is still not up to par, i have been told things several times that turned out to be untrue, if they made a change in the office like the maintenance staff has this would be a gem of a property.

These apartments are alright, not great. It is "economical" if you are looking for a cheap place to live. If you really want to get screwed over by the Management, be sure not to read the "fine print". They make you agree to have their company be a 'party of interest' on your insurance policy so that they are cut a check if something happens to you or your stuff inside the apartment. $100 is automatically deducted from your security deposit and is non-refundable. You want cable, too bad, they have a contract with dish. The only saving grace of this apartment complex is that the pool is alright and they have a community garden (first come, first serve). Knowing what I know now, I would not have signed that lease and I hope people that see this take this into consideration before signing. It is just a cheap place to live.

I am absolutely pissed off by their maintanance group. We experienced an water outage on Sunday. It started at noon and is still lasting. I called their maintanance, and was told there is nothing they can do. They said the water company did not have plumbers to fix it. We have to wait until tomorrow. They were not willing to tell any details. I then asked, when could it be fixed, you said tomorrow, what would be the specific time? The person just said "I don't know". I asked, can I talk to someone who is directly working on this, he/she said, "I am sorry I don't know. Have a good night" and then the phone was hung up immediately. I felt extremenly angry. First of all, there would be no water the whole night; second, the person was very rude and hung up my phone call. This is terrible.
