Nice Place to Live
Doncaster is a very nice place to live. But reading the other comments I guess it all depends on what court you live in.
Maintenance cares and are very friendly! I have never had any problems with maintenance they always come out fast and sometimes the same day. I was very impressed when I had a refrigerator leak and the maintenance man was all the way in PA and came out and this was on a Sunday. My sink was stopped up and they came right out!
It is true that the walls are thin and sometimes I pratically want to kill the small Chinese lady who lives over me. She sounds like a heard of cows. It can be very disturbing when you are trying to sleep and have a little one! I blame the fact that this place does not have carpet or make sure that the tenants have the proper area rugs with padding. You can hear any conversation that is going on outside because the walls are thin and the windows are outdated. The master bedroom gets extremely cold in the winter because the windows needs to be updated. Which means that you need to turn the heat up....hence higher energy costs. You can also hear when your neighbor is running water, shower, etc. That is annoying. Sometimes it gets so loud that you have to turn your tv up.
They recently just started giving out vertical blinds at the patio door. I had to bring my own. They give you window shades for your windows not mini blinds which would be so much better.
Continental came over and took over Keelty which was a bad idea. Continental fired the former property manager who was very sweet and replaced her with The Wicked Witch Lisa Walker-Sears! However the rental office workers are nice. Especially Debbie, and Kathy (Continental fired her) good work guys! They really care!
I have never had a problem with mice, which is a plus!! I can't speak for other courts. I break leases for mice problems so to not have them here is refreshing!
Parking is ample on my court but once again I guess that it depends on what court you are on.
The neighbors are friendly. No violence. I never once had to call the police.
The grounds are kept beautifully. No trash! Tall and ample dumpsters so no trash is seen. They cut the grass every three days. Landscaping is classy.
They installed new washer and dryers in each building. The wash rooms are safe and clean.
They give you nice storage areas on each floor.
Overall my experience here was nice. Take it from me. I am stuck up and do not deal with any nonsense out of an apt complex! So for me to live here says something. The only problems were the occasional noise I hear from the person walking upstairs, and the fact that you can hear everything outside. But most apartments are made with thin walls guys. I have yet to find one that does not. Word of advice if you want to live here make sure that you get a third floor apt to cut down on the noise level and if you have kids or walk hard get a first floor apt out of respect for your neighbors.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Where to begin, ahhh, I lived here since Dec 2005 & the experience has not been good at all.
Lets begin with the parking, horrible, if you work nights like I do, you will not find a space near your building at all as they do not have assigned spaces like other complexes I have lived at.
The kitchen is in very bad shape in my unit.
The stove is run down, filthy with stains that will not come out, the counters are littered with stains & scratches.
Not one of my windows will lock, I had to wedge wood in between the sills to keep them locked.
Forget about keeping the patio door open during the summer as there is a gap in the bottom & the top of the screen door enough to let in moths, ants & every flying insect known to man as my unit faces the woods.
I agree with all of the complaints about the noise, you can hear water running loudly & footsteps.
Toilet does not flush well at all, usually I have to flush mine 3 times before the waste will finally run through.
Tub does not drain well at all I tried everything from pouring bleach down the drain to using a plunger, no luck.
It is such a shame that this complex does not care for the needs of their tenants especially since the rent here is not cheap.
The only plus at all is that the closets have ample space.
Better keep a clothes pin on your nose when entering the laundry room, as I have never in m life seen one as filthy as this one.
I am by no means exaggerating ANY of these claims, they are ALL true, sure the units look good driving by them, but enter them at your own risk.

The grounds of Doncaster Village are not kept clean. I live in the neighborhood of Doncaster Village apts and I very seldom see a maintenance person picking up trash on their grounds. I see Kenilworth at Perring apts crews out every day picking up trash. Kudos to Kenilworth for beautiful grounds. Doncaster Village Apartments please do better and keep your property litter free.

Not great.
I was just browsing reviews for other apartments and happened to see my old apartments, Doncaster, had some feedback so I read all the reviews. I lived at Doncaster about 3 years and I have to agree with all of the negative posts. The noise is what I remember most - Doncaster was my first apartment and I've lived in others since, and the noise in Doncaster, there is nothing like it anywhere else. Water running in someone else's apartment sounded like a herd of buffalo. I also asked about an adults-only building, I guess no one does that anymore but they told me there is a limit of 2 people in the 1-bedroom apt. buildings so I thought I was fairly safe from a lot of noise. However, the kids all played in an around my building, I guess their parents yelled at them for playing in theirs! They bounced balls against the building and always played around it and I lived on the ground floor so that was annoying. They even played in our hallways. I was down a small hill so my bedroom windows were level with car headlights. If you rent here, only get a top floor apt, I'm serious. I had a snake once and 2 mice that got into my apartment (not very good overall insulation/protection from outside) and they actually said to me that they don't exterminate for those. There was no space in the kitchen, only 1 small drawer. Apartment was very small. I agree that the parquet floors were horrendous. I finally moved out because I had the noisiest neighbors above me. There was supposed to be a limit of 2 people per 1-bedroom apartment, but the people had a baby and they were noisy before, but after, they were up pacing and banging up and down the floors all night long. The management would not enforce their 2-person limit rule and would not make them get carpet. I am not a crank, I complained about it very civilly both on the phone and with a followup letter. No response. So 6 months later when I don't renew my lease, they want to know why. I again stated my complaint. Oh, they said, we can fix that! Too late, I said. You should have acted on my complaint at the time. I knew then that they only cared about attracting new tenants, not keeping the ones they had happy. Please note the rent I quote is what I paid several years ago.

Look elsewhere
I have lived here for many years, and for most of that time would have recommended it. In the last few years, however, the quality of life here has so deteriorated that I felt compelled to write this review.

I have had my mail stolen, been assaulted by a teenager loitering in my building, and had to endure noisy, foul-mouthed neighbors including one who regularly urinates from his balcony.

The rental office will not enforce lease provisions requiring carpeting for noise reduction or prohibiting loitering.

Look elsewhere, even if you have to spend more. Don't live here,

Still here..reconsidered
Okay, when I first moved in there were issues, but some were fixed. The kitchen flooring was coming up, but they fixed it. A window was missing a lock, but I got one. Biggest was the gas oven which did not heat properly (after 45 minutes set at 400 it got up to 250).
Maintenance kept telling me it is fine and I am wrong. But a letter to the management got me a new (replacement) oven.
Had to call cops a few times for those "Jerry Springer Show" fights outside, but those people moved away.
I'm in my third 12-month lease now and it's not as bad as when I first moved here. I am used to the loud shower and bathtub noise from other apartments. I'm still not used to the thin ceiling and hearing the guy's every footstep, but he's not as "active" as the previous neighbors who seemed to walk around all night long. This guy actually goes to bed before midnight and gets up around the time I do for work.
My energy bills are not bad. Parking is not bad. Crossing my fingers the zero crime continues (although a drunk girl backed her car into this nice elderly couple's car a few months back and she just drove off).
Rent has increased over three years for my 1-bedroom from $585 to $650. I see online they want $744 now..okay THAT is a little steep but a new management company did just take over.
I am more than willing to stay here, but I am waiting for one of my upstairs neighbors to move out so I can see about moving upstairs.

Great Apartments!
I have lived in Doncaster for 2 years and have had a wonderful experience. While it can be noisy at times, that is not the apartments' fault as much as inconsiderate neighbors. The area is safe and well-lit, the apartments themselves are spacious and well-kept, and I would definitely continue to live there if I were not going away to graduate school.

Honestly, do not live here.
I am not sure if the other people who reviewed the complex really lived here, because it has not been that nice of an experience. The parking lots are poorly lit, as I have had a car stolen and one vandalized. The police informed me that the complex is a hot spot for car theft. Living in my apartment, is like living in a hotel sometimes. I can hear all of my neighbors movements. When neighbors, either next door, upstairs, or downstairs, shower it is as loud as a cheap hotel and sleeping is out of the question. Also, you can hear televisions, radios, phones ringing, and walking very clearly through ceilings and walls. I would say that the ceilings are easier to hear through than walls. The condition of the parquet floors in the apartments is also not very good. The walls and ceilings are poorly constructed as you can clearly see joining wall joints. The apartments are very small and the rent just went up to a point where it is not worth it at all anymore.

An interesting fact. The rental office says they have basketball and tennis courts. The tennis courts are not in good condition and it was a fight to get nets put up two years in a row. Nothing is done to damage either. The basketball court is where it gets interesting. This is not even on their property. It is a basketball hoop on the parking lot of a church which runs up behind the complex. How can they say they have basketball courts? Bizarre.

Two positive things, the pool is beautiful and the hallways are carpeted. Otherwise, renters beware! Maintenance rarely answers!
Nice, But Noisy!
I lived in Doncaster Village Apartments for 2 years. The rent was reasonable and the building that I lived in was in a good location. The draw backs are, the 1-bedrooms are very small and the units lack sound proof walls. You can hear your neighbors and especially when they are taking showers.

Great apartment community!
I have lived in this community for 2 years, and intend to live here until I buy a home! The maintenance is great, the rental agents are nice, the area is well-lit and well maintained, the neighbors are quiet, the building is set up in such a way that neighbors can not hear each other, the rent is inexpensive, and the area is safe. I have 2 friends who also live in this community in different buildings, and they have had the same great experience that I have.
