There is a lack of thorough and complete review on this website, which is understandable considering most that review will have had a particularly excellent or horrible experience with something related to their leasing or living experience that usually leads to a hasty review lacking detail or honesty. I will try to provide this missing review. A brief background on my situation: I am temporarily living at York Creek Apartments as I transition to a new position with my job in another city. I am neither thrilled nor terribly distraught with ending up leasing at York Creek; it wasn t my first choice as far as location and commute go, but the cost savings and lease buy out options lured me in. Hopefully this means that I approach this review from an unbiased and fairly neutral position and it will provide you with more thorough information than I found in the reviews that I had to rely on. I walked into the leasing office with no appointment, and was seen right away. The staffs in the office were very friendly, energetic, and helpful. I found them to be slightly unpolished as far as professionalism goes; I do not mean to insinuate that they were unprofessional, just slightly less than 100% professional, but I doubt most people would notice. They were thorough and fun, anyway. The staff was detail oriented and provided the information I needed, quickly assessed that I was looking for a temporary lease, and quickly steered me towards a twelve month which has a friendly buy out option that saved me lots of money. Much appreciated. The moves in fees were less than $500 which was very surprising to me. I decided on a one-bedroom loft. Overall my experience at my initial visit was quite good. One week after visiting the office I was able to tour my new apartment prior to signing the lease. I moved into my apartment that day and found it in relatively clean condition, however I am glad that my cleaning fee was waived upon move in because the professional cleaning company that cleaned by apartment did a fairly average job. To the non-particular it was probably of expected quality- I myself chose to re-clean but also recognize that the job done seems typical of most apartment complexes of this style/quality. The office staff was friendly upon receipt of my keys and I was appreciative to have a whole week to return my move-in checklist. I ve now been living in the complex for close to a month. I was generally concerned about a couple of things here: firstly, I was slightly concerned about the location. I had heard from my friends that this was not an ideal and safe place to live due to the type of tenant typically attracted. I also read reviews that commented on noisy neighbors, dirty hallways, broken laundry machines etc. Regarding the location and tenants: you do get quite a variety of interesting people here, but I will say that I ve never felt unsafe walking around the complex at night. It seems adequately lit and everyone generally keeps to themselves. No complaints here. I often do hear loud neighbors, mostly because of children or music, as I walk through the hall to my apartment, but I must say as soon as I close my door I hear nothing. I know for a fact that my neighbors play fairly loud music and have screaming children (as I mentioned before, I can hear it when walking through the hallway) but the apartment itself seems well sound proofed. I have never once heard a neighbor whilst inside my unit. The hall way doesn t smell excellent, but it has always appeared clean. Also, I have used the laundry equipment multiple times and have never had any issues with them. It wasn t long before I had to call in my first work order. The bath tub wouldn t drain. The maintenance staff responded within 24 hours and fixed the issue very quickly which was much appreciated. Garage parking is a huge plus! Overall it s not a bad place to live. I ve had a positive experience so far and would not discourage others from seeking residence here.

Just have to give a shout out to Charleen Jennings, an associate that has gone out of her way to make something happen for one grateful basketball team and their Moms. She overheard my comment and question to another associate and put 2 and 2 together and started the ball rolling, and has worked to make it affordable so the team can hopefully move in next week... We are looking forward to the move in to two loft apartments, and hope for a great association with York Creek Apartments. Thank you, Charleen!

The neighbors were loud and rude, the hallways were a mess with people leaving trash in them, including their old food. The washers and dryers were almost always broken and not fixed right away, so I would have to take my clothes to the laundromat a lot. There were cigarette butts, beer bottles and cans, broken glass, trash that was not picked up all around the buildings, so my children could not play at all outside. The parking lots were full and it was hard to find a close enough spot to park. We had people hanging out in the hallways being loud and partying at late hours of the night. Also our neighbors fought constantly and were constantly swearing at each other, which could easily be heard in my apartment where my children could hear and would get scared. They raise your rent once your lease is up, so just because you think you are getting a good deal at first, do not expect your rent to stay the same or even close to the same. If you need a temporary place to live for a good deal it may be fine, but other then that I do not recommend this place as a permanent residence and not for people with children.

I've lived here since August 2011 with my two roommates. It is a nice spacious apartment and seemed freshly painted when we moved in. The area that your apartment is in determines what kind of neighbors you have. Some areas may be worse than others. I think they base it on credit so those with the same credit will live in the same area. The area that I live in has mostly families so the only noise you might here from your neighbors would be their children running around. The grounds around the apartment is kept up most of the year. They are constantly mowing, weed-whacking and such. In the winter, they have a couple issues with plowing and putting salt down on the walkways but they got better over time. Haven't had any issues with maintenance because nothing has failed in the apartment so I can't really talk about any interactions with them. Every once in a while they will do a maintenance check-up where they will put in new energy-efficient fixtures so that is what we have mostly had to deal with. The staff is generally helpful and willing to answer any questions. There is one lady who works at the front desk who is completely unhelpful and rude when you need anything to do with your apartment but once you get past her you'll be scot free. I recommend that you give them a call and try. I haven't had any issues with them and as a college student this is the best you can get for the price that I have found. The apartment is really nice.

I spoke on the phone with a very nice young lady name Kim at York Creek Apartments in Comstock MI today. She was a good listener on what I wanted to be included in the apartment I am looking for . She took her time with me and explained everything into detail. She had a very good attitude and was very informative. She did not rush to get me off of the phone , when I begin to ask a lot of questions . I did not feel rushed nor did I feel pressured to make a quick decision, unlike some of the other places I have called. She was kind enough to give me with the web site address , while I was on the phone with her, so that I could ask questions about the apartment. She is a good person to ask for if you are interested in living at York Creek apartments in Mi.

Charleen, at York Creek, was EXTREMELY helpful with helping me find a new place on short notice when dealing with a very unfortunate displacement due to flooding that was handled very poorly by the previous facility. My application was processed immediately with all the requisite paperwork. She continued to be very helpful even when the previous place continued to be obstinately difficult. The offices at York Creek went beyond what I would typically expect to help my transition.

My girlfriend and I moved to York creek last summer and we were happy with the apartment at first. We had a one bedroom loft style apartment and for the price they asked it wasn't that bad. After a few months we became dissatisfied with how noisy our neighbors were and just the overall atmosphere of the apartment complex. It also didn't help that we moved in during the summer and the small wall unit air conditioner did nothing for us but double our electricity bill. The ceiling fan and the windows adjacent to the loft were impossible to clean and began to drip into the living room. We also had a package STOLEN from in front of our building and of course York Creek's office wanted nothing to do with it. Also, the neighbors below us smoked in their apartment and made it unbearable for us to leave our balcony door open. Finally, toward the end of our lease we received a letter saying "Happy 1 year anniversary...we're raising your rent!" Overall, I'd suggest some thorough apartment searching before settling on York Creek. It will save you a headache in the long run.

Have been here for a year and unhappy that I had to resign for another as I couldn't afford to move. Price and location are the only things going for this place. Maintenance personnel can be argumentative and accusatory. Going to the Office only offers a smile and a "we'll get right on that" and if your lucky, the head of maintenance and an office person will come and grill you on every issue, while ridiculing you on those they either can't or won't fix. Be prepared for high electric bills in the summer if you decide to run the air conditioner....I paid less for electric in a four bedroom house with central air and insufficient insulation. The one window in the hallway is screwed shut for "insurance purposes" and the hallway is suffocatingly hot in the summer. You can also hear your neighbors conversations in the hallway as you walk through. Security Personnel that I have dealt with have been arrogant and unprofessional. Totally disappointed and praying that I can move elsewhere next year!

If i was you i would stay away from this place. DO NOT RENT HERE. I am an over the road truck driver and they will harass you if you want to park your semi here. The security here are a bunch of rent a cops with an attitude problem. They think they are the real cops but have no guns. The complex itself will charge you for every little thing they fix even tho it is their property. The neighbors here are nosey as heck. There for i would not rent here ever.

This place is TERRIBLE!!!! I'm breaking my lease after the 6 months and going somewhere else. I've been harassed and had safety issues and I've complained about 15 times in 3 months and no one does anything! In fact, the security guard will just tell the people who complained about them making them harass you more! Everyone is so kind and helpful in the beginning but as soon as they get your money, they don't care about you. I don't suggest this place to ANYONE. I wrote a nice review in the beginning but now I can't wait to leave. So many problems.

Not a good place to live, overall. I'll give a few specifics. The price is pretty good. I never had any issues with anything breaking or not working except for my garage, and that was fixed promptly. The parking lots are a little dim, they don't replace light bulbs promptly. I work third shift so I'm out and about when it's dark, so that wasn't good. Mostly, it's just hard to deal with the neighbors here and you have to call to report noise A LOT if you want anything done about it. I had a neighbor that literally played music constantly, I don't think they were even in the house all the time when the music was on. I could hear the bass in my bedroom at all times. So, when I go to bed at 6 or 7am, I couldn't sleep. If you try to call to report anytime from 4am to 9 am you're just out of luck. Rarely will they come to document the noise or anything, so I ended up trying to call to get the noise to stop every single day for a couple of weeks before they addressed the situation in a way that got the noise under control. The company itself contracts people to replace the carpets and tells them to start promptly at 8am. So right at 8am they are hammering directly next to the bedroom and whatnot doing their job. If you're a 1st or 2nd shift worker it might not be an issue but this is really not 3rd shift friendly at all. Basically, they are not very accommodating in many aspects. Be prepared to handle your neighbors on your own. Don't work 3rd shift or try to sleep in much past 9am because you'll just end up irritated.

I lived here with my Husband and daughter as a way to get on our feet to buy.I think we were some of the only decent people in there. There was family next door with a special needs adult and you could always hear the parents yelling at him...You could hear hole conversation in the master room. It smelled like Pot and Ethnic foods. My daughter 15 years old got threatened once for wearing gang colors (a red Aero shirt). And one day around 6 she decided to walk to MacDonalds she took a back path when she got to the top of a hill that had a street on it someone tryed to get her in the car and she came back crying nothing could be done i was told.It was EXETREMELY hot during the summer. there ac unit doesn't work and they dont allow you to put ur own window AC in.I had left laundry in the units machines and all of it was taken out when i went upstairs. But honestly you will choose it in spite of these reviews because you get a lot for your money. garage, sq feet , location, overall living prices are low. I recommend this place for couples only.I never had a problem with parking though and the staff did rush over when my daughter was locked out. When you have so many people in such a small area for so cheap. Theres bound to be violence. You get what you pay for.

I've had plenty of friends live in York Creek and enjoy their time, so I am moving into a 1-bedroom loft next week when my lease at another complex is done. Unlike most people on review sites, I don't expect quieter-than-a-mouse neighbors, perfectly sound walls, exquisite maintenance (who EVER has that?), or non-stressed office workers; those people who want that should buy a house and take on the responsibility of caring for it. ANYWAY, as far as I have seen over the years of visiting and staying there with friends and family, I can confirm it isn't any worse or better than any other apartment complex that costs less than $1000/mo in the greater Grand Rapids area; in fact, in my apartment search I found a LOT worse. I'll update this in a few months to see if anything changes.

This place is awful. It's not just about whether you have decent neighbors (but don't expect the office to do anything about the drug dealers, the people in the hallways drinking and partying, the drunken college students setting off fireworks right outside your bedroom window in the middle of the night, or the apparent herd of elephants who live above you) as other people have said. They replaced the wooden bridge that accesses the apartment with cheap plastic that is extremely slippery, not to mention FUGLY. It snows on a weekend, and nothing gets plowed or salted until Monday. They fix up the apartment of someone who moved out and fill the whole building with noxious fumes (including the inside of your apartment). They say it's the contractor's fault. They mow the grass at 8am in the summer. I hope you don't work 2nd or 3rd shift. I wouldn't recommend this dump to my worst enemy.

I have lived at York Creek for six months now and I have to say that the size of the apartment for the price is a true value. Melany the manager is always right on top of any maintaince issues with 24hrs, if not the same day. York Creek also has 24hrs security patrolling the entire complex. I have never had any noise issues at all. Having a garage is a bonus. I have seen the maintaince crew painting the trim work around the garages as well. Many improvements on a daily basis. I would recommend York Creek to a friend.

I lived in York Creek for three years until last year. I got in on a REALLY good special and because I paid my rent a year up front, they didn't raise my rent. I would recommend York Creek for people looking for an economical option, however, I was pretty happy to be out of there... The neighborhood that we lived in wasn't bad when I moved in, but by the time we moved out, it was just not a very safe place after-hours. I have nothing bad to say about about noise, parking, staff, or maintenance, but I was rather disappointed in how safe I felt - It changed significantly over the course of just a few years. Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible by any means, and definitely not bad as compared to living in a bigger city, but for a small town girl, it was a bit much.

I have lived here for a couple of months. Ill have to say I was a bit nervous about moving here from the comments from people. But Ill have to say I Love it here. Everyone is so nice. The maintenance people are always fast to fix any issues that you have. The unit I live in is very quiet and we all get along beautifully. I can say that everything that I had heard was not the case. I was looking for an apartment for my son who just relocated to Michigan. I saw the York Creek Apartments and liked the location and the looks of them and felt the price was the right price for him. I met with Shawn and she was very friendly, made me feel welcome and was more than helpful in finding the right apartment. We did a lot of the transaction over the phone and by fax which was a great help to my son and myself. The apartment was clean, had new carpet and paint and counter tops and has a laundry room on site. Hopefully it will prove to be the right place for him. It is close to shopping and all that he might need to make him feel at home and part of the community. Shawn was very professional throughout the transaction and getting my son settled, went above and beyond.

We recently moved into York Creek from out of state. We had never been to Michigan before, and our entire rental process was conducted over the phone and email. We worked with an extremely professional and friendly leasing agent named Shawn, who answered all of our questions, was extremely informative, and made us feel right at home the moment we arrived. Thank you Shawn for all your hard work.

Hello, my name is Jeff, and its been some time since I've rented an apartment, so I have to say I was a bit skeptical. However, I was treated so great by the entire office staff here at York Creek, and they really made it easy and cost effective to get into a great apartment that I'll be proud to call home. I want to give a special thanks to my leasing agent Shawn, as well as Jennifer, for going above and beyond for me, and being sensitive to my current situation. I can't say enough great things about my experience here at York Creek to this point, but again, a huge thank you to the staff for making this transition much easier for me. Oh, and the apartment itself is fantastic. Clean, roomy, and tons of cupboard space in the kitchen, which is always handy. Thanks again Shawn, Jennifer, and the rest of the staff!!!!!! Sincerely, Jeff Brown

I liked that I had to pay 500$ and was able to move out of my parents house. Sucks that I could hear the neighbors, but not that I expected 500$ a month would let me live like a Russian Tsar. Was clean apartment that gave me a lot of space. Were some people who i thought used drugs or whatever, but never felt threatened. Don't know why people complain about drug dealers or stuff becuase I never saw anything besides kids, who didn't look like they were bigshots from Detroit, which is where I'm from. I think a lot of these reviews are mad that they have to live with ------. I mean ya you gonna have alot of diversity living in a place with 2000 aparmtnets. Gonna have problems with police too just reality. Ya you can live in the boondocks and expect no problems with anyone, except maybe your goat you hillbillies. Problems are just a part of life. Anyways, got a nice clean space nice looking building nad nice price and nice place to lay my head down at night. Everything u need, except of course if you think u are some sort of Royalty who deserves the best of best. Get real kids. 3/5 stars great price/location/apartment.

I love York Creek Apartments. Everything about it to us is perfect. The area that it is located is great, you can easily walk to Walmart, Sams Club, or a drug store. The people here are nice and the 24/7 maintenance is always here when you need them. Not only that but the staff here at York Creek are very friendly! And make sure to ask for Shawn as your leasing agent, she is great. Shawn will help you get familiar with the area and is a very friendly outgoing person! Thank you Shawn!
