No

I lived here in 2001, the office is usually too busy to talk to you after you sign your lease, at lease signing they switch you deal on you so that you are paying more. The apartment was clean and ready to move into, but you can hear EVERYTHING. I could hear the neighbors going up and down the stairs at all hours, shaking the things in your cupboards. You can hear your neighbors walk in their apartment, the garages are nice, but thats about it. Spend a little bit more and move somewhere else!!!

    hell no

im writing this as i still live here. I recently had the experiance(last night) of watching two -------- people basicly screw and get drunk in their car for 4 hours, untill i looked out of my window to see the guy trying to break into my car. I yelled out the window he left. I went down to remove the face plate from my stero to also find he had taken a leak on my truck. TO add our buzzer is always broken, our hallway smells like baby pee and burnt chicken always. Our parking situation has resulted and 10 car breakins in the area in about 6 months. I though they have a on call security guy he can be found at the local 7-11 or ironicly behind our garages eating arbys(literaly) but not one car break in has been stoped. I'm on this site finding a new apartment.

OK for people who don´t mind constant noise and parties!

I lived at York Creek from 2000-2001 in a 2 bedroom loft apartment. There was constantly loud noise coming from the apartments around us from college kids cranking their music. The cops were at the apartment at the other end of the building on a weekly basis to break up parties and drug deals. There were 2-3 fires while I lived there also. We had registered sex offenders living down the hallway from us and there was a smashed up car in the parking lot that was there from the time we moved in until the time we moved out a year later that never moved. It´s probably still there! I was afraid to walk to my car at night at times because there would be people out yelling drunk in the parking lots. There was always trash on the ground around the apartment and parking lot. Kids were everywhere in the parking lots and the front door was constantly propped open- so much for the intercom! Our apartment itself was nice, but the surrounding apartments and parking problems outweigh the actual apartment. I would only recommend this apartment to people who want to live in the middle of a big party house.

        Not bad... for the ------

Welcome to the northside ------. Great rental rates at sign in ($485 for 2 bedroom, plus $15 utility fee), but they will go up if you re-sign the lease (ie: $520 plus $30 utility fee...). The office staff is always friendly and helpful, in every circumstance.
The neighbors are less than to be desired... making it the northside ------. Due to the low rent and the decreased security checks, the neighbors are a bit shady. The halls are often dirty, the "buzzer entry" doors are often void due to a rock being stuck in the door propping it open. The tennants are mostly either low income families with children or college students (who like to party).
One HUGE problem is the address numbering system. Every single time I have people over, I have to "go find them" because they are lost. I even had to call the ambulance once for my neighbor, and THEY got lost. I find it very annoying that York Creek doesn´t invest in a better system to direct visitors.
York Creek is not a bad place to live. I feel pretty safe, and enjoy the low rent, plus the extras like a garage, low electric bill ($13-18/month) 1.5 bathrooms, and dishwasher.

          Going Down Hill

I have lived in 2 different Apartments in York Creek for the past several years. Ever since they did their expansion 5 years ago the quality has gone down hill. Because the is a need to fill apartments their screening process has gone down hill. I have had a few decent neighbors over the years but for the most part not.
This is my home for the time being and even though I do not own it I like to take pride in my home. Most of my neighbors could care less about those around them.
For the most part Maintainance has been pretty good. When I have called about trash and dirty halls and laundry they get someone over in a timely manner. The point is that I should not have to do this.
These could be decent apartments, but look around before you sign a lease

Ok but be careful where you live

My husband and I moved in here when I was pregnant with my son. We moved in on a "deal" where we paid $469 plus a $15 utility fee. Well, when it came time to renew our lease they bumped up our rent to $509 plus the utility fee was now $30. We would have moved but we didn´t have the money to put a deposit on another place so we resigned. We really like the neighbors as long as they are quiet. We used to have a lady that lived above us. It seemed like she was having her grandkid over every other weekend. Every Sunday morning that he was over, he would make so much noise. now, if it was at was at 9am we wouldn´t have had a problem but it was at like 6am. It sounded like the kid was jumping off the couch onto the floor. We went up to the lady´s place about 5 times to ask her to have the kid knock it off. She refused to answer her door. So, we hit the ceiling with a broom and they did it even more. We just dealt with it and made some noise a little louder. After my son was born, she decided to have a birthday party for the kid. Now there was about 8 kids running around the apartment above us and it was scaring my baby so I went to ask her to make them stop it. I told her it was scaring the baby and she said they would be done in a while and i said it needed to stop now. She said if I wanted to call maintnence that was fine they wouldn´t do anything. I got back in my apartment and all of a suddent his awful stomping started and two of my glasses in the cupboard broke. That was it, i was pissed. I called security and they came and told her to have the kids leave. Then she started throwing stuff off her balcony at my patio. I ended up calling the police, but they didn´t come in the building they just walked around it and left. she has since moved out thankfully and things have been fine ever since. Maintenence leaves a lot to be desired. We had a pipe come loose in our kitchen at 7pm on a Saturday. A guy came over, propped the pipe up and said he would be back on Monday. I have had my dishwasher fixed 2 or 3 times and they said the next time they have to come out here, they will get us a new one. Parking is a -----. My husband and I have a garage as does everyone else here. Well, most people don´t use the garages and cars are parked in the same spot for weeks without anything being done. I leave for work at 3am and I hate having to walk all the way to the dumpster to get in my car when it is pitch black because the lights in the parking lot don´t work. It is pretty scary.
I would recommend this to people only because it depends on where you are in the complex that you have to deal with rude, loud people. The people in my building are nice and if you tell them to turn the music down or not to throw firecrackers off their balcony again, they are cool and respect your wishes.

              York Creek is very helpful

I just wanted to thank EVERYONE that wrote a review for this apartment. I´ll keep it in consideration when looking for an apartment to rent. I called York Creek just five minutes ago, and I found them to be very pleasant and helpful. I´m newly wed, and my husband was evicted from the apartment complex because his roommate died very brutally, he lost his job about 3 weeks later, and of course couldn´t pay rent. York Creek took him to court and he had a civil action filed against him. That was a year ago, and he is now making the payments. They were even helpful back when his friend died. Yes, they filed the civil action, but it was only because they had to. To this day my husband says that he still likes York Creek, and would gladly live there again. They said that they would gladly take him back, and look forward to doing bussiness with us again. I don´t know any other place that would do that. I know that the other opinions on York Creek are very warranted. So, we are still looking araound because we know that there are a lot of previous tenants that had some major problems with them. But overall, I think that BECAUSE those tenants made complaints so readily (like they were supposed to), York Creek is becoming a very nice place to live.

                York Creek is great!

I lived at York Creek for 5 years. Recently moved out because my job transferred me out of town. I have lived in many apartments and York Creek was by far the best. I loved the apartment style. It was spacious with lots of storage. My view was of the creek and woods which was beautiful summer or winter. Maintenance was always fast to respond and quite personable. I had great neighbors and I still miss them. If there ever were noise problems someone responded in a reasonable amount of time. York Creek is so big I´m sure it´s a huge challenge to try and satisfy everyone. Besides, they´re not responsible for every cotton-pickin´ thing that happens there. If you don´t like your neighbors refer your friends. Two of my friends lived there for 2& 3 years before building homes. They are professionals and loved York Creek as well. Plus York Creek paid me a referral commission for my friends moving in. Thumbs up York Creek. I hope I find my way back there again some day.

The good, the bad, and the ugly!

The GOOD.... I´ve lived at york creek for 2 years. I´ve had the most wonderful neighbors ever! (all of which had lived there at least 5 years from the start) I dont live there now and I miss them.

The BAD... unbearable people who complain about problems that are caused from themselves and think that the world revolves around them. Example... people complaining about the grounds garbage when I see them throwing garbage out their windows themselves. Talk about lazy hypocrites. Didn´t they notice the huge dumpters near every building?

The UGLY.... The snow I see those poor grounds people treading through to keep our garbage picked up. I´ve seen them out there in rain, sleet, & snow, faithfully. God bless their hearts!

                    Nice place to live

My family and I have lived in York Creek Apts. For almost 3 yrs now.. Anytime that we have had a problem they are always quick to respond whether it be maintenance that we have requested or calling to the office for questions that we may have..

Now we are very happy with the response we get from the maintenance staff here.. and they are very nice no matter what the problem may be..

The noise from time to time is loud but in what neighborhoods are you able to call and have someone right out to try and settle the noise problem..

The parking here is ok, wish it could be better, but with having a garage to park in and a parking spot in front of the building..

My husband had his family up and he was able to get a guest apt (fully furnished) for them at a very reasonable cost. Cheaper then staying at a motel for a month.. Now don’t we all wish we would be able to do that when we have in-laws staying? Ha Ha.. So that is another plus of the York Creek and the office staff..

So what I am saying is that we would recommend York Creek to anyone..

                      READ THIS!

I HAVE LIVED HERE IN YORK CREEK FOR OVER TWO YEARS AND STILL COUNTING. I HAVE SAT HERE AND READ EVERY PERSONS OPINION ON THIS SIGHT. I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH WHAT SOMR OF YOU ARE SAYING. YES MAINTENANCE CAN TAKE A WHILE TO FIX CERTAIN PROBLEMS, BUT JUST THINK OF HOW BIG THIS COMPLEX IS AND HOW MANY OTHER THINGS THEY HAVE TO DO. AND AS FOR THE PEOPLE BEING LOUD, YOU WILL GET THAT EVERYWHERE YOU LIVE UNLESS YOU GET A HOUSE IN BFE. YOU WHRERE YOUNG ONCE"WERE YOU QUIET AS A MOUSE?" DIDN´T THINK SO! FOR THE PEOPLE THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT LITTLE KIDS BEING LOUD IN UPSTAIRS APARTMENTS, THEY ARE KIDS AND YOU CAN´T EXPECT THERE PARENTS TO TELL THEM TO BE QUIET EVERY MIN., THAT WOULD BE LIKE TELLING THEM YOU CAN´T BE A KID AND HAVE FUN. IF YOU DON´T LIKE IT, MOVE TO THE TOP FLOOR. PARKING IS PARKING. FIRST COME FIRST SERVE AND IF YOUR VEHICLE GETS BROKEN INTO OR HIT, IT´S NOT YORK CREEKS FAULT, IT´S THE PERSON WHO DID IT´S FAULT, SO CALL KENT COUNTY MORONS. AND AS FOR THE MAINTENANCE BEING SLOW AND STUPID AND THE MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR BEING THE BIGGEST --- HOLE OF THEM ALL, BOY DO YOU GOT IT BACKWARDS. YOUR THE --- HOLE WHO THINKS THAT THEY SHOULD REVOLVE AROUND YOU AND YOU ONLY, THIS COMPLEX HAS GOT ABOUT 10,000 PEOPLE LIVING IN IT, THEY TREAT EVERY BODY EQUAL, YOUR NOT MORE SPECIAL YA KNOW! THIS PLACE IS LIKE A SMALL TOWN. IF YOU CAN´T APPRECIATE THE HARD WORK THE WHOLE YORK CREEK STAFF AS PUT IN FOR YOU THEN GET THE HELL OUT OF DODGE JACKASS. HOWEVER I DO AGREE WITH THE WHOLE SEX AFFENDERS BEING IN HERE. BUT THEN SEX AFFENDES ARE EVERYWHERE YOU TURN. THEY COULD BE THE ONES WHO BAGGED YOUR GROCERIES AT THE SUPERMARKET. BUT I WOULD RECOMEND ANYONE WHO HAS A HEART AND THAT IS UNDERSTANDING TO LIVE IN YORK CREEK, I LOVE IT HERE AND I DON´T PLAN ON LEAVING FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

We have lived at York Creek for two years. In that two years we have had more problems than most people have in their eintire lives. Our heat works on ocassion. We have had to have someone out to fix it six times in the last two weeks. People are constintally breaking into cars. The hallways are dark, and always smell like pot. There are visious racoons that do not hesitate to try to enter your apartment through your slider door. The maintance staff are all incompetent morons. The maintance manager is the biggest --- you will ever meet. He refuses to return your calls. I should know. I have tried to reach him six times in the two years we have lived here. The buildings are all full of sex offenders. The parking is crappy. I have to park three buildings down from ours, and walk down. We will be moving as soon as i am done with school.

I moved in to York Creek about a year ago and have seen a tremendous change in everything! The staff is friendly, maintenance is promft and for the most part very efficient. The grounds have improved and as for my neighbors they are normal people. What annoys me about this website is that if you don´t know how to spell stay away from writing reviews that require that skill such as this. I have placed several complaints to the staff here at York Creek, for parking problems; and a few things fall under this. There are handicapped parking spaces in front of my building that never get used, as well as dont meet state requirements. Then they tag cars that have been parked here for months, the person who owns the car then moves it down one space and lets it sit till it get another ticket, and keeps on doing the same.

My fiance an I lived at York Creek (in one of their older units) The staff was friendly until the lease was signed...then we became an annoyance (perhaps because they already had our money). 24 hour maintenance is a HUGE joke! We had a broken light over our diningroom table for 4 weeks...they kept saying "someone will be out tommorow" every day for the 4 weeks! Our dishwasher broke twice and it was almost a week before it was fixed each time. The heat went out in the middle of winter. We had only been there a month when it happened. It took them 3 days to come out and they didn´t even fix it the first time. When they came back 2 days later it only took him 15 minutes to fix and he tracked mud all through our apartment. In the year we lived there they sent us 3 evition notices for non-payment of rent when we DID pay the rent...they ended up applying our rent to someone elses!!! Each time they did it...they didn´t even appologize. We move out next month and I CAN´T WAIT!!!

I thought it was pretty nice at YC . . .

I lived at YC for a year, and the biggest problem I had was that the person whose wall shared my bedroom wall liked to play loud music. I got a REALLY good deal when I moved in . . a 1 bed loft for $569, with a free month, free electric up to the first $50/month, and free cable. My apartment was spotless when I moved in, and when a light bulb went out the first day, it was fixed right away. The carpet was brand new when I moved in too. It sure was nice to have a garage and dishwasher (included in rent). I never used the buyout policy in my lease, but it was nice to know that I had the option in case I ever needed to move. I know there´s a fair amount of parties, but I´ve never had that much of a problem. Overall, I thought that YC was quite a good buy . . . .it wasn´t the nicest apartment I´ve ever seen, but it wasn´t bad at all.

It´s okay if you live on the top floor and are young w/o kids

Have been living there since Feb ´03 and my roommate and I are lucky since we are on the 3rd floor with a loft, washer and dryer, 1.5 baths, and the special that came with our lease was free cable. You can hear a toilet flush when you are like right by the wall in the bathroom, but that is to be expected in even a house. Only get annoyed once in a great while with a neighbor that lives on the ground floor, but will stop playing loud music when asked. The only things that have really gone wrong are really the everyday stuff that you would encouter anywhere. There are a lot of kids around that don´t pay attention to anything, but also an expected thing. Course, the neighbor below smokes, but since having the air on or the heat, doesn´t get too annoying...

My roommate had lived here before, but was fine coming back, and is actually happy now. Mainly since we face trees, don´t have a lot of noise, and have a lot of space for two people that have odd schedules.

I would say that if you happen to be in a good spot (if you prefer quiet) then it is good for someone starting out - like me. I think that it is just too big for people with families.

I lived at York Creek for one summer. The place was nothing special, but wasn´t horrible either. When I moved in, my apartment smelled like old cigarrette smoke. It still smelled like that when I moved out. Pretty gross. The stairs and hallway going down to the apartment were dark, and didn´t smell too sweet either. I didn´t think that the complex was very safe. Looking on Michigan´s sex offendor list on the State Police website, I found that many of my neighbors were on that list. Not good at all if you have kids playing out in the parking lot. The maintenance was usually there when they were supposed to be. The rent was cheap. $500 a month. Can´t beat that. Overall, just an average apartment complex with a few too many sex offendors as neighbors.

                                      Don´t Ever Live Here!

I don´t care how desprate you are if you are smart don´t live here. I have had two different apartments here and both times I felt unsafe and hated it. My upstairs neighbors were the worst. Some examples of the kind of people york creek lets in, they stold a sign off our soor, the peeded off their porch, the had too many loud parties with beer spilled all over our porch, loud music, loud mouthed people on the deck, you could hear people all around you using the batchroon and having sex or arguements, the manitence and security staff are slow and stupid and when you make a complaint nothing gets done about. We were threatend by our neighbors and york creek did nothing and my car was hit with something by a tenate and again york creek did nothing. This is the worst place I have ever lived, needless to say I am moving out and far away from here. Save yourself the problems and live in a box, it will be nicer for you.

                                        HAVE KIDS? BEWARE PARENTS!!

I have noticed that while living in these apartments, there seems to be more and more people moving in who are currently on the list of Michigan Sexual Offenders. Why do sexual offenders gather at apartment complexes? Because there are so many kids there! For the sake and safety of your children, I would NOT rent here. You are putting your children in harms way if you do!

If you like hearing people shitting next door... this is your place!

If i could´ve had a week to live in the apartment, i´d have never.. ever signed the lease to live in the crap hole. You can hear people clear as day in the apartments sorrounding yours. They´re poorly heated, poorly lit up, poorly maintained, and the people are complete -------s that run this place. I´ve wanted to leave since the 2nd week i´ve lived here, and soon i´ll be buying the lease out. Trust me, there are WAY better places to live than this dump.

                                            Don´t!!!!!

York Creek apartments is a cookie-cutter, "get them in......get their money.....get them out" type complex. I was not there long due to the noise, the poorly maintained grounds, the interruption of police officers that were called there often, the college students throwing up over the balconies, and the cheaply made apartments. It is a huge complex with no personal touches what-so-ever. This apartment complex has had several fires and they do not ensure that the damaged apartments are properly taken care of before renting to the next customer.

Excellent--wish we had York Creek where I live now

We only ever had one problem here, and that was a rock being thrown through our car window. Not the management´s fault, as we had a stalker after us and it was probably him.

Besides that, the management was great when we lived there. They understood that we didn´t want them entering when we weren´t home, and they never did.

They even replaced a light bulb in our apartment when it burned out after us only being there a couple of weeks.

Loved the security entrance that actually worked. Loved having a garage to park one of our cars in. Loved the washer/dryer hook-up and ample storage space.

The rent was excellent when we lived there ($550 for a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment with garage and free heat that worked very well and washer/dryer hook-up). They also gave us a free membership to a health club the entire time we were there. We wish there was a York Creek where we live now--we would definitely rent from them again!
Not worth the price they´re asking now.

I haven´t had rent increases in 5 years because the management probably does not have any system for increasing rents. The maintenance is nothing but trouble. They are slow to respond and generally do not fix it right the first time. The maintenance staff will enter your apartment even if you tell them not to. So I suggest that if you do not want them to enter without your presence, make it very, very clear to them. Also, in the five years since I´ve been there, the community has been going down hill, and it´s picking up speed as it goes down hill. In the last 2-3 weeks, they´ve had two of their buildings catch on fire. I´m not impressed, but it´s just a pain to move.

A: Absolutely, and noise complaints almost always go ignored, OR they take so long to send their rent-a-cop over to check things out people have finally quieted down, leading to a response of "we cant do anything if we dont catch them at it", making me wonder if they arent INTENTIONALLY slow so they dont have to deal with enforcing their rules and the trouble of removing a problem tennant.
