Good for the price
Overall a pretty good place to stay - I have been renting from various places for the last 6 years. This apartment has by far had the most amount of square footage per dollar (2 bed 1.5 bath with a loft and pantry) and coming with the detached garage is a great feature as well. My big complaints are more due to living in apartments in general - we had a a problem with our sink and clothes dryer, and of course, they have their own apartment maintenance which, although they know some things, are not true plumbers or electricians so it took several trips and complaints before our problems were properly addressed and fixed correctly. The other things deal with who you may/may not live with, our unit was adjacent to the G Avenue entrance/exit, so it would not be uncommon for residents/visitors to "peel out" of the complex. Also, we had a neighbor who lived on the first floor directly below us and smoked like a chimney, so we could rarely keep the windows open without smelling his awful cigarettes, along with the smoke smell that was always present in our stairwells. Overall, I was content with living there, but am now glad to be able to afford a home of my own.

I like Cooper's Landing Apartments
These apartments are nice. I have an attached garage to park my car in. My last apartment office didn't care when my car got vandalized in the driveway. I have a one bedroom apartment that has a half bathroom downstairs and a full bathroom upstairs. The washer and dryer is full size and I can easily wash my comforter. I haven't used maintenance except when I locked my keys in the car and they couldn't help, so they called a tow service. The ladies in the office are friendly. I took advantage of the discounted membership to Borgess Health and Fitness, but I was a little disappointed about the $100 upfront fee. I do enjoy the gym and think it has a lot to offer even if your not into just using equiptment. I am impressed with Cooper's Landing so far and I think it is definately the nicest place in Kalamazoo

Nice location, nice apartment.
I am a current resident of Cooper's Landing, I am going on my 2nd year. I chose to live here for the location (close to work). I had heard Kalamazoo had a little more to offer then Battle Creek! I checked out many apartments in Kalamazoo and think that Cooper's Landing is superior for this area. I live in the loft style, it has some unique features I didn't see anywhere else. I enjoy my apartment but more so the staff here, they are easy to access and friendly. I have lived in apartments since college and have had some note worthy experiences! The most I have ever dealt with here is an online payment that got lost in transit. I called the front office and they put me at ease while they corrected the problem. I've had maintenence in for quick fixes here and there, they always respond the same day, and they are the type of maintenance staff you feel ok letting into your home. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a more upscale apartment in Kalamazoo or close to Battle Creek (25 minutes). They also have memberships to Borgess gym it's clean, well kept, and basically a higher class workout facility with a pool.

I love it!!!!!
I recently moved in and can honestly say that I love my apartment here. I have a 2 bedroom loft and It is so great. Free heat just adds to the benefit that makes it more loveable. The maintenance guys are great and the girls in the office have been so helpful. They really went the extra mile to make sure that the apartment was going to be the right one for me. I love the fact that my neighbors are all nice and quiet but still hold the door open for you (when needed), and my garage is a godsend. I have lived on campus for the last several years and it was so loud all of the time, it is nice to know that with this great apartment, comes the serene atmosphere that they have here.

Great Apartments
I have lived at Coopers Landing for 3 years and i have nothing but great things to say about the place. I love the friendly office staff who are always professional and very punctual when dealing with problems. The townhomes are very spacious and offer various floor plans. Full size washer and dryer are always a plus, and the garage is a added bonus. I really enjoy the quiet atmosphere that Coopers Landing provides, as well as the friendly maintenance staff.

We love to call this place home
I have lived at Cooper's Landing for 2 years now. I am very happy to call it my home. I love the washer and dryer in my own apartment and with this weather I can't imagine not having a garage. The staff is great here! The only thing I wish they had was a playground for the kids. Overall this is the best apartment I have lived in.

Great place to live
I have lived here for about 3 years now and I absolutly love it. The people are nice and friendly. The office ladies are extremely helpful. The have been very prompt in answering any questions that I may have or if I need something done. They are very generous and ask me how everything is going and likes to hear any thoughts or feelings I might have about living here. The maintenance is fantastic as well. Need something done, they are there in no time. I like that they are very prompt and help to hang pictures ect.

i was pretty disappointed
i have lived her in C.Landing for a couple of years now and stay because i like my neighbors and the apartment works well enough for a place to sleep when i'm not working. the management seems to be doing its best to make it a nice looking community, but i must agree with the reviews posted here about the office staff. i haven't had a complaint against me and have always paid my rent early (not on time: EARLY) and yet they constantly are rude, short, inconsiderate of my time, and treat me as if i am a burden to them (once i requested a receipt for my rent payment as i was paying a couple months in advance and the manager nearly screamed me out of the office.) i've spent some time reading all the reviews on this website and wasn't too surprised to see that management ("janm" is one of the usernames) not only posted positive reviews of the community, they actually RESPONDED to tenant complaints with name calling, accusations, etc. if i would have known about the staff here, i would have looked elsewhere. there are nicer apartments and there cannot be a worse staff. but i'm here and will stay until my lease is up in a couple months.

No complaints here!
I lived here for a year and if Michigan had good jobs I would stay, but I'm moving to Philadelphia for better income and job security. I did also have a ticking noise when I used my sink or dishwasher. But, I never reported it to management as it really wasn't a big deal at all. Everything I did report was taken care of immediately and professionally. Like I said, never any complaints. I would live again in a heart beat! The garage is great and allows for a lot of extra storage in the rafters. Hope this helps!

Its not too bad
I have lived here almost a year and I really haven t had any problems other than with the staff a little bit. I had a personal problem with them getting something accomplished which was there responsibility to do so. They just seemed neglectful, but only that one time and I haven t had a problem since. There are only a few things that I don t like about living here and that is it is not really children friendly. I have to drive places for my child to play. It just seems like it was made for adult living not for families. I also have a problem with noise coming through the walls behind the kitchen sink. Anytime that I run the water in the sink or the washer is going or anytime my neighbors use water I get a loud ticking noise through the walls like it is coming through the pipes. It is pretty annoying! It also gets pretty cold in here because the windows don t shut very well without slamming them and keeping them completely locked all the time and even then it has a large draft. Good thing heat is included! This place is much better than the last place I lived at but for the money I could definitely find better!

Positive Comments
I would like to say that I have lived here at Cooper's Landing for over a year. Everything I have to say about the apartments or staff is positive. The maintenance crew that we currently have are outstanding and very attentative. I normally would not respond to such a survey. However, after reading the derogratory comments I feel that I should. The community is very large and I am sure there are a few unhappy customers as you would expect. Those wishing to "vent" personal issues here probably should try to keep the personal attacks from others. If you have an issue, try to work it out with the staff. They are more than willing to make this a nice community. I have and will continue to recommend this community to others as some have also moved in here and are very pleased. Thank you for taking your time to read my comments.

IS GOING DOWN HILL!!!
My fiance and I have lived in the townhomes sence April 2004. The first year was great but after that we have had numerious problems.
*Had to spend days buffing car because the sprinklers were spraying our vehicles in the parking lot and it left streaks down them
*Fiance's vehicle was broken into
*Water heater was broke for 2 months before it was completly fixed
*Broken glass in parking lot from beer bottles
*Noisy drunk neibors
*People driving through yards and on sidewalks where people walk their dogs and push their children in strollers

The last few months if have felt very unsafe living in these apartments. We are strongly concidering moving out and would not recommend people to move in here even though we would have a year ago.

Never again
We have lived in Coopers Landing for just over 2 months now. This is the noisiest apartment I have ever lived in. We have the Centipede family upstairs - only 4 people, but who sound like 64 on the stairs & can't leave the building without a lot of loud talking/yelling. The heavy pot/cigarette smokers who were just evicted downstairs. We could smell smoke throughout our apartment every time they lit up.
When there was a cat trapped in our row of garges (they are seperated, but open along the inside roof line), the girl in the office acted like I was a pian in the butt and making up stories- she didn't seem to understand that I didn't appreciate the scratches on our car where the cat had climbed up and down.
Right now there are (I am hoping) maintenance people who are yelling at each other and listening to a loud radio. This started at 8.30 this morning.
We think of this crappy place as a pricey ------ & cannot wait to get the hell out.

This is interesting
I enjoy living at Cooper's Landing Apartments and have been here since 02' Recently I refered a friend who ran across this website while searching for an apartment. I can't believe some of the information, all I can say is I've never had any problems here. I love my apartment and have always gotten along with the staff. I have lived in 2 other apartment communities in the past 10 years and would only recommend one, "Cooper's Landing." I won't use names but my other experiences were not favorable, infact one was a complete nightmare! I think that some of the opinions are not genuine or facts but someone angry and looking to seek revenge. I think these websites can be insightful when used properly so I was a little disappointed. Because of the length of time I have lived at Cooper's Landing I know most of my neighbors and have never heard many complaints. One thing to note when apartment searching is that (1) Cooper's Landing does not have a pool or playground, however they do offer gym memberships at Borgess Health and Fitness and there is a pool there.(2) I would like to see extra parking because the weekends can be difficult unless you use your garage (a lot of people use it for storage).(3) Finally you have to mail you which can be time consuming when the office is right on-site. Other then those things my apartment is beatiful and I enjoy the office here they are bright and cheerful young ladies.

FREEZING COLD!
I can feel the freezing cold air coming in through both the electrical outlets and the seams around the windows. The heater has to kick on once every five minutes or so. Anyone else having this issue? Any solutions? It is FREEZING in my apartment.

This place is a disaster
This complex is very poorly run. The staff is poorly trained and don't hesitate to engage in sketchy practices. Initially, they tried to keep my entire security deposit when I moved out at the end of my lease. My lawyers responded (be sure you respond within seven days of receiving their damage assessment) and magically, the staff of Cooper's replied with a "our mistake" letter and reimbursed my ENTIRE deposit. Poorly constructed, shoddy materials, cheap landscaping. My townhouse was a slum.

A considerate staff!
I've lived here for 2 years and have never seen a more professionally run community. These apartments are beautifully maintained and very well constructed. I am thankful to the staff because they were able to located my cat after it escaped out of my apartment while I was bringing in groceries. After looking for an hour I called the office hoping someone would have turned her in. No one had, but minutes after my call I saw the manger and one of the leasing agents walking the property and was very appreciative. They actually found my cat underneath a car and brought her back, I couldn't believe they took time out of their day to help me! I love my apartment and the space it has. I would reccomend this community to anyone in search of their next place to call home.

Worst experience I've ever had
My first two months at Cooper's were fine...I didn't understand all the ratings on here: sure the apartment girls were silly and shallow and flakey, but seemed alright. However, once my roof caved in, it took them 2 days to even respond to my complaints -- emergency maintenance showed up that night and put up a tarp and then just left it. As soon as I complained once, I was blacklisted -- after that, I had more problems that I can list with the staff and hated it here. I am glad to be gone.

A very good 3 years!
My experience with this community was far better then anywhere else I have lived. I recently married and am moving into a home however would definatley suggest you check out these apartments. The staff was always courteous and professional. My apartment was spacious and clean. A garage was included and attached which made it more like a basement. The storage space was more than enough for me and my child. I am use to being gauged out of my security deposit with every other place I have lived. When I moved out of Cooper's Landing I received my full deposit. I really enjoyed my time here and would reccomend it without hesitation.

Worst Experience in 15 years
I have lived in apartments for more than fifteen years and have had a range of experiences, but NOTHING has been as horrible as my year at Cooper's Landing. The office staff is miserable to deal with and the apartments are poorly constructed. I lived in a two bedroom loft with garage and could hear every noise from neighbors next to and below me -- from fornication to watching television. The carpets shredded, the walls cracked. I complained to the office staff frequently as nothing was EVER repaired and finally had to put my rent in escrow until the staff "repaired" the problems in my apartment. My rent was always early and I had no complaints against me, but K & J gave bad references to other complexes I was looking at after I moved out...but then tried to convince me to renew my lease with them (phone calls, letters, etc.) stating what a "great tenant" I was. This place is out of control -- unless you have the time and energy to fight a 12 month battle with the leasing staff, save yourself some anxiety, stress, and anger: look somewhere else!

A RIP OFF
we moved into coopers landing about six months ago and have been extremely disapointed! Rent is too much for the size and quality of our one bedroom townhouse. And just because the apartments are new doesn't mean they are necessarily nice! the carpets are crappy and are pealing up around the edges of the rooms and at the seems. I couldn't believe it when we had problems with our cheap closet doors and no one did anything about it for two weeks. I had to call them four times before they sent someone out. We expected much more then what we have seen. what really caught our eye was the attched garage but the remote only opens it half of the time, and most of the time i sit in my car like a fool for ten minutes trying to open the damn thing, before just pulling in a space. we have a small dog and she even hates it here. The echo from other apartments is terrible. I can hear my neighbors t.v.,at normal volume, crystal clearly in MY apartment. the office staff is okay. they seem pretty snotty for the most part. and i constantly feel like I am being watched. I can take care of myself, thanks! I cant wait for my lease to be up and move the hell out of here! I feel like i have been majorly riped off!!!! For the price... you could find much better.

No Way Would I Ever Again!
I was in a townhome and there were just so many problems. The maintenance does jack. I had to wait a week for my door to be fixed! Someone couldve easily broke in. The noise from Sprinkle is awful, even with concrete walls. You can hear your neighbors. Parking is a pain. A friend of a lady in the office would block us in our garage, and when I went to complain, the lady in the office said to deal with it, it was a friend of hers! Also, we had a mice problem. I went to the office to report it and they had the nerve to say "well maybe its your way of living" in a snotty tone! I couldnt believe it. I am a neat freak like crazy. It was so awful, we decided to take a loss and terminate our lease. Dont live here!
