Quiet environment, great service especially maintenance, convenient but rent is on the higher side. Would even be more better if we could have the community gated for better security. For activities it would be more fun to have basketball nets

Heather and all the staff at Legacy Park in Charlotte are fantastic. They are courteous and truly care about our needs as residents. I recommend them as being "Special" and encourage MAA to reward them for their tremendous work. These are employees you want to have around for a long time and recognition helps to that end.

It has been okay so far. I wish I didn't see the trash outside a lot but other than that. I love my apartment complex. I do wish the closet was bigger because it is too small for me. I do hope there are incentives for the residents as it makes apartment paying fun because next year I am looking at moving out of that apartment because $800+ is a lot for a one bedroom. But hopefully my closet grows if I do stay.

Average community, old apartments, poorly maintained. Kitchen is small. Play area is good with new play equipment. But no-lighting after sunset, pretty dark in play area. Parking n moving cars are little dangerous for kids near play area. Leasing staff is good. Good activities planned every month.

The apartment is spacious, but overpriced. Most things in the apartment are rigged instead of fixed, and this will continue if you have any issues that need to be fixed by maintenance. The pool and fitness centers are nice, but the hours for the fitness center are not always followed.

I no longer enjoy being a resident of this apartment community. The grounds aren't kept clean. The management staff no longer take the care it once did on screening the applicants. I have personally witness a drug deal in the parking lot. I leave on the end of the building alone and someone has come by and jiggled my door knob at least twice in the last two weeks. I have found cigarette butts in front of my door and I don't smoke. I can't get anyone to respond to complaints in a timely manner.

I love the community it's quiet and I feel safe here. My only issue is I can hear my neighbor snoring, talking, laughing etc. my other building wasn't like this but since I moved to a bigger unit I can hear everything! If I choose to move this would be the only reason why.

The management has changed in last quarter of 2013. Hence, we are experiencing worst management here in this apartment. They won't take any primary responsibility. They blame either third party or upper management. Only one staff member is responsible for one task. They can't able to assist for other problems. Even for their mistakes, we have to visit their office again & again. Cleaning wise, we can find pet's poop all over the community. Management won't take responsible to clean it. For the facilities available, this apartment is bit costly. I would suggest that we can find better communities near by.

Well these apartments look nice on the inside. The 2 Bedroom demo is amazing. It looks like a little house. BUT the staff. I don't live here. So I cannot comment whether someone should rent here. I do know I was in a hurry and stopped by to get leasing info. I came to the office and waited for about 20 minutes, and no one was ahead of me. There was some lady in there who saw me come through the door- didn't yell "I'll be right with you" or "Just one minute" or anything. So I looked into her office and she was tapping away on her iphone. (wow rude) But when she finally did show me around, I could tell she was lying..> Telling me she lived in the community--because before showing me around she made it clear that she was visiting from a sister property but she isn't a regular employee there so she doesn't know the community 100% (But you live there?) But dont get me wrong, she was very nice... The part of the community she showed me was kind of hood. Lots of young people no diversity from what I could tell. Lots of loud music. I asked her is it a quiet community and she said yes... And no later than 10 seconds after some guy started BLASTING music from his car. lol. I love the location though. But I think im going to go with CG-Mallard Creek, smaller and quieter community.

It was awesome. Office can get a little busy sometimes and you have to wait &/ or they ignore your call because of that.. But other than that and the unbelievable 6% RENEWAL increase (which was $180 A MONTH for me).... I was very happy. Everything worked water and electric was reasonable. sadly, My lease ended during a management change. At move out I had now charges (some places try to find things to charge u for in my experience. .. NOT THIS PLACE).

I have only lived at Legacy Park for 10 months, and I just renewed my lease here because it is the BEST deal in the University area. A spacious apartment complete with balcony, washer/dryer (in unit), and upgraded basic cable package for less than $800 is impossible to find in this zip code! LP doesn't have the car care center, but I can go to the Colonial up the street and use their amenities with no problem. The pool is open year round so I can go whenever I want. The fitness room is 24hrs. I always get great customer service with the clubhouse, and the maintenace team responds right away! Its in a stellar location: close to 85, 485, 77 and Harris (if you need that road). I can shop at either Concord Mills or Northlake b/c its an equal distance from both! Now every community has a downfall.... at LP, parking is an issue. On any given day after 3pm you will have limited parking. (It's like nobody has a job to go to). The walls are paper thin, and the stairs creak. Also, I wish it were gated. But these are all problems that are associated with older communal living situations. My neighbors are quiet...except when the baby cries >.< Overall, this is a great place to live. For 2 months I have been looking (actually touring and researching) other apartments in this area and surrounding areas to find a reason to move, and I have been given any yet to leave.

My roommate and I have lived in a 2nd floor unit for 6 months. I'll start with the good points; 1) I feel safe here, 2) property is kept clean enough, 3) staff is responsive and professional, 4) w/d inc, 5)unit stays warm in winter. The bad points have been; 1)Fees that should be covered by rent, feel nickel and dimed ($5 pest control, $8 trash, $4 admin?? along with the water bill), 2)$150 rent hike at lease renewal, although they said the would work with us, 3)theater room sucks - not wired properly and sound is awful, 4)rarely any doggie bags in stations, 5)unit stays very warm, have to run a/c pretty early 6)neighboring commercial property noisy for roommate whose bedroom faced it (I run a fan at night.) That's it, good and bad. Overall a decent place to live. We are moving to be within easy walking distance of lots of shopping because my roommate doesn't drive and to find something cheaper.

The countdown to me moving out is the most excitement I've received from this place. That should say it all. They told us everything we wanted to hear to get us to move in here. Here is what I have found in 12 months of living here Rent: I live with someone else and we need to pay our rent separately online. They assured us this would not be an issue but it has been nothing but headaches. Their online rent payment system is horrible and the only thing worse is their "policies" regarding it. Another rent related issue is when they changed their date on when rent was posted without notifying us, the office told us to "deal with". I did so by filing a complaint with Colonial Properties and sure enough they sent out a resident newsletter. Plainly put, they make it difficult to give them money. Community: If you enjoy the smell of incense, body odor and curry this is the place for you. I can't sit on my balcony without a foul smell punching me in the face. I am not going to spell it out cause that should say it all. Also the parking situation stinks. If you plan getting a spot close to your building, be sure to get home before 5. Facility: This place is old and it shows. Our apartment smells like moth balls and after every vacuum powder, candle and Febreze available it still smells like a bag of moth balls. The balcony is made of old wood that looks like it came off of a ship from Christopher Columbus. I spend my nights pulling splinters out of my foot and shoes. The faucets are old and constantly drip. I understand the buildings are old but they do a poor job of keeping them up to date. Overall: Despite my harsh criticisms, I don't hate Colonial Grand at Legacy Park. This does feel like home as strange as it sounds. My issue is that they make the simple and easy things very difficult here. I've never seen any crime myself but in the time living here there have been issues with individuals selling drugs and having sex in the pool area. I know this because the few good residents that live here, look out for each other. Better, newer apartments for a similar price can be found in the area.

First of all it's 8810 Legacy Park Drive not the above listed. PLEASE VIEW THIS ENTIRE REVIEW IT COULD BE A GREAT DEAL OF HELP TO SOME: I do not live and have not lived at CG @ Legacy Park. I am actually looking into it and was highly discouraged by the older reviews so I decided to do some research of my own. I could not find any articles on any kidnappings however in the 2009 search there are 2 missing persons ages 16 and over. That COULD be a kidnapping but COULD also be a runaway or a number of other scenarios. In 2009 from Jan 1 to Aug 12 (Approx time of year we are in right now) the crime reports were as follows: (within one quarter of a mile of the address 8810 Legacy Park Drive Charlotte, NC) Larceny From Auto 5 Non-Aggravated Assault 5 Larceny-Other 4 Larceny From Building 2 Missing Person-Age 16 And Over 2 Other Criminal Charge 2 Residential Burglary 2 Vandalism 2 Auto Theft 1 Concealed Weapon-Firearm 1 Concealed Weapon-Other 1 Fraud 1 Hit And Run 1 Other Non-Criminal Incident 1 Sex Offense-Indecent Exposure 1 Sudden Or Accidental Death 1 Suicide 1 However, it seems the apartment complex (and surrounding area) has done some work to make it a safer place to live because the crime reports for Jan 1 2012 to Aug 12 2012 are as follows: Non-Aggravated Assault 4 Larceny From Auto 3 Vandalism 3 Fraud 2 Larceny From Building 2 Other Criminal Charge 2 Auto Theft 1 Counterfeiting 1 Larceny-Other 1 Other Non-Criminal Incident 1 For anyone interested in where to find this information visit http://maps.cmpd.org/cmpdnet/quicksearch.aspx you are free to search any address. From my experience with these type of searches the second report I listed is actually very good for an apartment complex in this price range and area. In most cases the only time you will find significantly less on the report is if you go to a much more expensive and less diverse apartment complex i.e. one with professionals mostly/only living there which would typically (but not always) be found on the south side of Charlotte. I hope you find this helpful. If anyone has any research of their own or any FACTUAL information from late 2011 to 2012 please do not hesitate to add as I am still researching before I commit to a lease as I am sure others are doing as well.

Promises promises
Lived here for almost three years. Decent apartment itself. Maintenance not responsive. Placed maintenance request since January for a sim. ple fix that'll take five minutes thats costing us more in energy costs. Requested online twice and in person twice. Strange LOUD alarm by front door not associated with smoke alarm has gone off twice in middle of night. First time calling emergency maintenance for this call was never answered. Second time took ten minutes and they couldnt tell me what it was but was sending maintenance. Both alarms turned off on its own. Still dont know what it was for. Told when moving in that there would be a tennis court put up in place of a basketball court that apparently created problems three years ago with non-residence. Still an empty concrete space with nothing there. Told there would be community events at least monthly for residence. That was a big draw as we want a more social community when we moved in. Had a few since. Pool table is unusable. Pool dirty. Gyms monitors not hooked up to cable as they could for treadmills. Missing weights. Apartment itself is fine and all amenities a huge draw if they were usable and/or taken care of. If that is a draw for accepting a higher rental price dont be fooled by staff that it WILL be fixed. All the above promised at time we moved in three years ago to be fixed just to get us signed in a contract. None have been done to this day. Tolerated this for this long but lease keeps increasing as all apartments do but with no changes to unusable amenities that should draw new residence and keep loyal ones. Will be leaving at end of lease. All previous gripes from other residence still legitimate issues i dont need to repeat here. Little changes once you move in. I will say towing company that trolls through are jerks. Cant believe this is allowed. Had sticker on my car about nine months ago threatening a tow even though registration and inspection up to date. Had to store my car in garage for a month afraid i'd get called for emergency for work (work at hospital) and have car missing. Good thing for them i had that option. If that wouldve happened during an emergency i would do everything in my power to make sure they werent operating anymore. In short DO NOT move in if there is something about it that they promise to fix by time you move in. Will not happen. Coated just enough to draw you in (landscaping, nice LOOKING apartment, friendly staff). Once in they got you. Nothing you will be concerned about will change. You have been warned. Plenty of other places whose amenities are less but usable, maintenance more responsive, and apartment comparable in size, and you pay less.

Horrible place to live!!!!
This is possibly the worst place to choose to live in the area. After 6 weeks of living here I am still waiting for maintanence to be completed. Also the company they use to tow is running a racket. They tow at will with no warning and with no regard to city towing ordinances. If you like for the place you live to take your hard earned money and completely disregard the quality of living then this is the place for you. I know I will not be a returning resident.

I do not recommend this place
We have been having problems with the a/c for months. Some issues have never gotten repaired; I just did it myself. There was vomit in the breezeway for over a week before anyone got around to cleaning it up. I told them about it the first day and everyday after until it was cleaned. They have taken away amenities since we have been here and told us to visit sister properties if we wish to use what we no longer have. The pool is closed every few weekends due to chemical imbalances. I have had to repair the shower, toilet, and bathtub drain. The staff are generally very nice, although the property manager sometimes gets an unnecessary attitude. They have lost two packages from UPS. We signed an 8 month lease and our rent is being increased by nearly $100/mo so we are forced to leave. Wow, after typing this out I am wondering if I should make a formal complaint. Some things that are great, such as a quiet neighborhood, are completely null when considering the place is falling apart and no one is doing anything about it.

waterbugs everywhere!
pros : staff is okay, maintenance workers are prompt and helpful..5 stars to them..! cons : 1)the apartment is infested with waterbugs.. too many of them!! it is petrifying. may be because the apt is not new. 2) Our kitchen was way too small.. the smallest counterspace and the fewest cabinets you can expect in a 2 bedroom apt.. we had to buy new furniture to hold all our utensils..and it is not that we have too many of them.. the annoying part is that we were shown a different apartment while we were apt hunting, saying that this apartment is not vacant at the moment, but the one they were showing us is 'exactly the same'. The one they showed us had a decent kitchen with pantry, but as it turned out, after paying the advance and moving in, we realized we were fooled(?) or was it an honest mistake, i dont know... but since everything else was good abt the house, we decided to give it a try. nothing else is bad though..we stayed there for 2 yrs.

DO NOT MOVE HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. There have been a lot of car break-ins and people's apartments have been broken into. Most of management don't care about the residents and have very bad attitudes. Maintenance keeps coming out to fix a problem that I have call about 5 times, when does it come time to replace it. This place is just ridiculous and you shouldn't move here.

This Place SUCKS
If you are into drug dealers, hookers and loud music ALL night and scary loiters all at a very high price- then this is the place for you! If you want a safe nice place to live- look else where. The first day we were there over $5000 of stuff was stolen out of our uhaul! We never felt safe there, but since there were gang activities going on ALL THE TIME, who would? The grounds are nice, the maintence staff is good, the apartments are big, but the rent is very pricey to live around drug dealers!

Worst Management everrr. Not worth the pain
Management here totally ill treats residents. Not a professional management. Utilities are always broken, something or the other. I know electric items are prone to some issues but lot depends on what happens after that. If something breaks in the apartment, there is no one to complain to, Property manager is always out sick. Nobody answers the telephone, you will reach VM all the time. Certain issues cannot wait until these management fixes it, we got to do what we got to do. If the wash basin is not draining water properly and coming out all over the place. We cannot wait for these guys to come fix it, they will come on their own sweet time. Unbelievably loussy and would not recommend for anyone who is looking for a peace of mind.. I would rather pay couple of hundred $s extra to get into a better serving place than get into this mess. Who wants to see broken utilities and deal with them when you come back from hard days work.

Stay away!!! Find some other better place
This is the worst apartment community i have ever lived. Not a grunt from one bad experience. This frustration is from over time and the overall experience of living in this community. Definitely find other place to live. Heres the thing - poor workmanship, faulty utilities, mean meaningless sick managers, substandard maintenance of the property. Totally unsatisfied for the rent paid. Not worth all this frustrations. Explaining the above adjectives used- Utilities are always broken, try and find the managers who are always sick or out of office to open a service request, Supervisors will turn up at their own convenient time no matter how emergency the issue is. No maintenance whatsoever, streetlights are broken all the time, you may see a nice landscaping, if you walk around you will know. There is poop all over the place. Management wont clean, residents wont care. Its poop-poop everywhere. Gates are broken all the time, they never tried to fix it. Managers are ridiculously helpless anytime during the day. Discriminate alot, it may be just me but it still hurts when you are discriminated.

Started Out Great and Went Downhill!
Moved into this property as newlyweds. First year was great. As soon as signed lease for second year, things went downhill. Maintenance guys left tools in apt and would come to fix stuff without leaving notification as to why they'd come, outside people were having parties at the pool, young guys were hanging out at the mailboxes asking people for money, maintenance came to repeatedly "fix" the light in the master bedroom closet and after 4 times calling them it still didn't work, microwave went out and we were told it would need to be replaced but was given no timeframe, bathroom sink was constantly stopped up and when maintenance came to 'fix' it, they removed a part that caused the sink to overflow underneath and ruined personal belongings, young people were hanging out outside making noise, the gates around the property NEVER worked and ultimately were taken down, and last (but not least by any means!) had termites and winged termites (yes, that actually flew around the room) in the master bedroom! The issues listed above happened all within the last 5 months! When we reached out to the corporate office to break the least prematurely, they'd never return our calls. We ultimately decided to break it anyway and consult a lawyer. They ended on a high note by letting us out of the lease without the extra fees, but still too many low notes so left with a bad taste in our mouth. Moved out last week, would never return!

Stay away from this HELL HOLE!
Everyone do yourself a favor and keep going down Mallard Creek Rd. or Harris Blvd. before you think about renting at Legacy Park. The place is a dump and the "Colonial" management company SUCKS ---! They don't care about the people that have been here for a long time. I would never rent at any property that has the name Colonial attached to it ever again! Forget about getting anything fixed in your apartment b/c it will never happen! Forget about the gates working b/c the company is too damn cheap to fix them but yet they have no problem jacking up our rent to an outrageous rate! Forget about talking to the stuck-up ----- of a manager about anything b/c she is never there and when she is there, she won't come out of her office! Just forget about having a nice apartment here period! The place is a dump and yet they call it a "Grand"...WTF?!?!????? There aint nothing "grand" about this hell hole. Try Bexley Greenway down the street. I'm moving there next month and it can't come soon enough. They are newer, prices are better and at least they answer the damn phone!
