MOLD/LEASING OFFICE DOES NOT RESPOND
IVE BEEN LIVING HERE FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 MONTHS AND HAVE NOTHING BUT MAJOR COMPLAINTS. THE SMALL PROBLEMS WERE ADDRESSED BUT THE MAJOR PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME REGARDING THE ISSUE. THE UNIT HAS THE FEEL OF LIVING IN A BASEMENT. THERE IS NO AIR CIRCULATION THROUGHOUT THE APARTMENT. WE HAVE TO PLACE OUR TOWELS IN THE DRYER EVERYNIGHT IN ORDER TO HAVE A DRY TOWEL FOR THE NEXT NIGHT. NOW THERE IS MOLD FORMING AROUND ALL THE WINDOWS, DOORS AND WALLS. I HAVE COMPLAINED ALL THE WAY UP THE ORGANIZATION LADDER AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR. THE NEXT STEP IS TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION. THE LEASING OFFICE IS VERY UNRESPONSIVE YOU VERY RARELY GET ANYONE T ANSWER THE PHONE SO YOU HAVE TO FIND TIME TO GO INTO THE OFFICE. EVEN STILL NOTHING GETS RESOLVED UNLESS ITS SOMETHING MINOR. ONE TIME THE POWER WENT OUT IN 2 OF THE BEDROOMS. I CALLED MAINTENANCE AND HE TOLD ME HE LIVES TO FAR TO COME OUT THAT NIGHT AND SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE I DIDNT PAY MY ELECTRIC BILL. THAT WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! ADVISED THE RENTAL OFFICE OF THIS AND GUEE WHAT?---YOU'RE RIGHT NOTHING! THEY SENT OUT AN ELECTRICIAN 2 DAYS LATER BECAUSE MAINTENANCE COULDNT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FITNESS CENTER IS OLD AND MOST THE EQUIPMENT IS BROKEN MOST OF THE TIME.I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX. ITS A SHAME BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY IS OVERALL QUIET BUT THE LIVING ARRANGEMENTS ARE HAZARDOUS.

its okay.
Staff is exceptional. I have moved once in this apartment because the house started to grow mold and the one i'm living in now has mold as well even thought the maintenance staff cleaned it already. They claim to provide security, gates around the perimeter has been broken many times and the gates have been bent. Since the time it as been intalled its been used for the first 20 some days after that they never tried to fix it. If you plan to bring your Direct TV and Dish Network service be ready to pay more. They require you to have Time Warner Cable basic service in your rent payment.

Not bad as Apartmments go
I haven't had too many problems, occasional noise being the main problem. However, make sure you get that rent in on time and make sure you have proof of payment. I filed a payment online, they claimed it didn't go thru, and next thing you know I'm having to get a cashier's check for the rent and a late payment fee. Then they drafted the money out anyway. Maintenance has been great, response in a few hours, or at most the next day, to the minor problems I've had.

Satisfied with it all
We have been here for about 6 months and are happy so far. We have not had any problems with crime, maintenance or noise. The apartment is nice and everything is updated. We always have a parking space. I am a SAHM and have not had a problem with noise at all, beside the occasional youngster after school. I take my 15 month old to the playground all the time and have never run into "thugs." In fact everyone I have met here has been really nice and friendly. The staff has always been nice and helpful with any questions I have. I haven't used the pool yet, but it looks nice. I use the gym several times a week, besides the bike not being fixed in a while, everything else works for me. We needed something quick and are happy with our choice. The only complaints I have are that they do not enforce people to clean up their pets poo from the grass. This sucks, since I can't let my child run in the grass for fear he may step in poo. They also do not keep the poo bags in stock so we can pick up the poo. There are also minor things around the complex that need to be fixed or re-painted. We also don't like our floorplan for the 2-bedroom...small bedroom with its own bathroom?, doesn't make sense.

University Living
I lived at Laegacy Park (now Colonial Grand) from December 03-January 07. It was a very nice community. As I researched places in the University Area, I always heard about high crime- especially- car break-ins (not just at this community but all of the area). Since I did not drive a highly desirable car- this was not much of a concern for me. The property was well maintained and my work orders was addressed and completed within 24 hrs in most cases. I am sorry to hear the property has since "gone down". Probably because they are trying to fill empty apts due to the economy!

NY Transplant Very Happy Here
I am confused when people speak of all the "crime" and the "kidnapping" (from a post 8/18/08). I moved here in May and don't have any major complaints. I haven't heard about any crime here - where are you getting this from? And who was kidnapped? I would have thought that would have been on the news and Missing posters would be all over here. You don't hear a peep from outside after 10 pm, except maybe a few young people on a Friday or Saturday night getting into or out of their cars. I do recall seeing fire engines and police one night in June, but I don't know what that was. The pool is well kept. The gym is well kept - could use a new water fountain and maybe a TV for those using the weight machines, but all cardio machines are practically brand new and have TVs on them. I was paying $80 a month for my gym membership in NY and it didn't offer anything more than this gym here. The grounds are well kept and maintained well. There is a great county trail behind the complex for walking/running/biking, etc. There are alarms in each apartment. Cable is included in the rent. Pets allowed. Always good parking. What I think could be improved: The back gate - Yes, it is broken again. I am not sure what that is about. The bathroom in the ClubHouse is not well maintained. More community activities or gathering would probably foster a better sense of community. With that said, I believe that this may have been a crappy place to live a little while back and although I don't know for certain, it's my belief that this place is shifting to a better quality of renters, slowly but surely, and some of the "old residents" are still lingering here. Even in the short period of time I have been here, I have seen a shift in the quality of residents. I would bet in a few months to a year, you'll start seeing a shift in the reviews too. For the record, I am a single female and safety was on the top of my list when choosing a place to live. I feel safe in my second floor apartment (windows higher - I do this wherever I live). I have single females above and below me as well. The alarm system is nice to have. While I don't think it is necessary, I think it was probably something that was fairly important before my perceived shift started to happen, and it's a nice extra feature now. I would definitely recommend this community to any responsible, working people who want a nice, safe place to live close to University, but without the nonsense normally associated with the area East of 85.

Negative Review Removed
I wonder my my negative reviews from 2008 and 2009 were removed? I am responding because I got a email reply saying someone posted a review and noticed mine were missing. So I will post again. There was a kidnapping from there. Don't believe me? Look at the police report. It was also on the local news. The management leased to anyone it seemed. Theft and crime were rampant when we left. I was harassed several times from outsiders who used the basketball court. And what I never understood is how management would do nothing even as people were moving out because of this. I am still angry at how we were treated there.

good so far
hey first of all the address of the community is wrong;its 8810 Legacy Park Dr;not, 8810 Legacy Lake Ln.Neway.......i moved to Legacy Park in Aug.07;i did go through all the reviews abt this community posted before Aug.07,they disappointed especially the maintenance reviews saying that the maintenance here was very poor, but i moved to this community for the near by Park & Ride(for CATS Bus No.22),as i commute to my work by bus.But honestly,i did not face any of the posted problems so far,we had to ask for maitenance a couple of times for very trivial problems (like the water moving out of the bathtub very slowly etc etc )after we moved in and the response was immediate and very well attended.Even the leasing office staff are very well behaved and professional. The community has decent ppl;its quite nd pleasant.i havent seen any gang activity here or car break-ins though the winter has officially started-off.infact my premium for my car insurance was reduced by $60 when i moved here(28269 zip code)from 28262 zip code;which implies that this area is safer than 28262;way to go! i liked this comunity in all aspects;i highly recommend this community and moreover the rent for my single bedroom apt is only $705 including the Time Warner Cable service of 100 channels which comes with the apt.,mandatorily.

So glad I don't live there anymore
I agree with the gang activity. I watched a shoot out right in front of my building and called the police. The management didn't supervise a 100 party that they allowed at the clubhouse one night and that's how it ended. When I went into the office to ask about it the next day, the girl lied to me and said that it didn't happen. When I told her that I watched it, she had nothing to say. I hated living there. That's not the only safety concern that I had while living there, my car was broken into and my radio was stolen. Also, a guy got jumped when he was getting out of his car at night. Horrible!

Good place to live
<br>I have lived here for 2.5 years and have seen some good things and some not so good. I can definitely say that while last year I was at times afraid for my safety, they have really cleaned this place up. It has always been well-maintained and a friendly place, but there used to be a lot of ------ people hanging out on the sidewalk that are long gone. Now mostly young business men and women and families are living here.<br>This complex is by far the nicest in the area. Good maintenance, nice clean apartments, friendly quiet neighbors and it's safe as well.

Great new place!
Since i have lived in Legacy Park I have seen alot of ups and downs. However in the past few months things have gotten better and better. I love it here!!!! There is a whole new staff in the office that is as nice as can be, the maintenance staff has always completed my requests in less than a day, and it seems to me like they have pretty much cleaned house with all the ------ people that used to live here. Beleive me, they don't play around anymore! I would recommend anyone to live here.

Shady Management
The management here is the shadiest that I have ever seen in my tenure of property management. Let it be known that certain people are able to get out of their leases because they date certain office staffees. Starts with a C and sounds like Brystol- you do the math. I wouldn't live in this piece of crap again if you paid me to. Good luck if you choose the Legacy. Word to the wise- date the office staff and you too can get special treatment.

Can't Wait to Leave!
I've lived here almost a year and can't wait to leave! Within the first three months of living here, the antenna on my car was broken off by someone. I also notice random people walking through the parking lot at night that don't even live here! I do not feel safe walking my dog alone at night. <br>I now have a new neighbor whom I call DJ Legacy who enjoys spinning his turntables on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 11pm until 3am. I also have neighbors living across the street who enjoy serenading the neighborhood with disgusting burps and farts while they stand on their balcony smoking cigerettes and dringing beer. We also get the pleasure at looking at their sexy beer guts because they enjoy pulling up their shirts while the do this. <br>Be wary of using the grill at the pool. It is so dirty, you could probably catch ecoli or salmanila off the grates. I also know someone who almost blew their hands off by trying to light it. All this does depend though, if the pool is even open (eventhough it has been said that it's open year round by our wonderful staff)! There has been plenty of times that I've walked down to the pool and it's been locked.<br> Also, recently there has been a change in ownership of the complex and I have found that the management staff is rude and unhelpful. Stay Away from this Complex!

Going Downhill
I lived in Legacy Park for a couple of years. I loved it and the management is awesome. In the last six months my car was first broken into and the other day it was stolen. Both when it was sitting infront of my building. There were also other people in my building that had their cars broken into as well. There has been a lot vandalism to the property itself; spray-painting, busted signs, etc. This apartment community is not safe and has went downhill fast in the last year.

Great!
I've been at Legacy for almost a year and have already extended my lease through 2006. The staff has been fabulous since I first started looking for an apartment. My only complaint is my neighbors, which is out of my hands, and loitering after dark which happens quite a bit it seems. Overall I feel very safe and happy. I have a great apartment and I have a very fair lease to go along with it. Two thumbs up!

Nice place to live!
Overall, it is a nice to place to live. I ended up relocating to DC for a job and had to continue paying my rent because they do not have a policy on this as most places do. I was not happy about this. Also, because pets are allowed there is always a lot of dog poop everywhere that never gets cleaned up. Kind of sad for such a nice place.

Going down hill fast
this place is turning into University Club. If anyone knows about university club then you know what i mean. as i right this my --- is vibrating from the dumb --- that moved in downstairs this weekend that continues to play his bass music really loud. if you like lots of large guys hanging around in the parking lot starting you or your significant other down when you come home at night then this is the place for you. you can complain to management all you want but that wont do you any good they dont care they have your money. do not live here - i would live on the street in a kenmore box before i lived here again.

pretty good
havent had any real issues living here. it is a little irritating that the staff changes every few months, staff is friendly (dont know how other people see them as rude). people do throw parties, but the apartments are so well sounds proofed you only hear them if you are outside. parking is almost never a problem unless you come home at 3 am, then you have to walk about 20 ft more than usual and thats still not bad (and rare). i renewed my lease once. (not going to again b/c trying to get out of university area. safety is never an issue here.

Great and getting better!
I´ve lived at Legacy Park for almost a year and I can say that they have made some great changes there. The old staff, who were always rude and didn´t ever seem to know what they were doing, are gone. The new staff are wonderful and sweet. I have had a couple of maintenance issues (which will happen anywhere), but they were taken care of that same day. I was thrilled! I do hear my neighbors, but that´s to be expected in an apartment. I intend to stay at Legacy Park for another year when my lease expires.

It used to be a good Place
I have been here since it opened up in 2001. It was a nice, relzxing place to kick back. <br> <br>Now like soeone else mentioned it is full of college kids, Drunk people and carelesness, not to mention a horrible staff. I honestly think the company the owns this apartment complex should come in an "clean out the problems" replacing all of the rude leasing agents / managers and ground kleeps that have no regard for anything. I finally decided to move out terminating my lease early. Because i can´t stand this anymore. <br> <br>The floor plans are not that exciting either. After seeing planty of other apartment complexes i realized that legacy park is nothing more then an overprced University Terrace, commonly known as UT. yuck..

Terrible Neighhood
It was a decent place to live two years ago. But now the apartment complex is filled with either college students or low life who have no regards for other people. You can wake up to find out that your neighbors are tests their new motorcycles without mufflers at 1 a.m., then for at least two hours on Friday night. Or the parties to 2 a.m. with flying beer bottles from patios. The walls are so thin that you can hear that your neighbors slams their door, or do their landry at 2 a.m. <br> <br>I am dying to get out of here. I am waiting to get a job offer, so I can get out Charlotte alltogether. Otherwise, I would´ve broken my lease, and just leave.

Constant staff rotation
I have been living here for 2.5 years now. I am happy with the apartment, but displeased with the continuously change in staff at the complex. When we first moved in, the staff was exceptional. They were prompt and friendly and knew everyone by name and apartment number from memory. Now, I am unsure of who even works here. The staff when I first moved was their first group of associates for I moved in when the complex first opened. Apart from the maintenance the staff in the leasing office are always curt and extremely inefficient. It took them 4 months to give me an extra copy of my lease when I requested it in January of this year. The apartment is fine, its the leasing office associates that I have trouble with.
