I have lived here for about 3 years and must say I do enjoy my apartment. I like the area and the shopping. My apartment is good and all of the staff I have come in contact with are helpful and very friendly. I would recommend this community to those looking for a new place to live.

I've lived here a year and I really like it. It's clean, affordable, and the staff is great. The place looks great and the maintenance guys who work here are outstanding. You can't beat the location also. A few years back they totally remodeled the buildings and this year they put a lot into the improvement of the grounds. I have the one bedroom with loft and enjoy calling this place home. I would recommend The Arboretum Apartments to anyone.

I have been living here for 2 years, and I really enjoy everything about it. Here are some of the examples: Excellent office personnel,to the maintenance crew. They are very diligent about my needs and every they say they are going to do they do it in a timely manner. I did forget to mention that ---------------------- do an outstanding job as well. ------------------------- always take care of me if I have something that needs to be fixed. ---- maintains the clubhouse and it's always clean. The indoor pool and outside pool & hot tub are so relaxing after a hard day. The landscaping is very beautiful and the lawn is immaculate. I have very nice neighbor's and we have cookouts all the time. I also enjoy having the Arboretum shopping center right across the street from where I live. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone that would like to move here. Regards, Steve Starnes

I gotta say I really love this place. Parking can be a bit of an issue if you live in one of the smaller complexes but besides that, management is awesome. I love all the extra little things they have available for us such as the gym, indoor/outdoor pools and the clubhouse. It's deathly quiet in the complex I live in, sometimes it feels like I don't have neighbors at all! It all depends on luck with who you live by. We just got really lucky. I definitely feel safe living here. Grocery shopping is easy since everything is within a 10 mile radius and Walmart and Harris Teeter is literally right across the street. The only thing I would change about the apartment is probably the fixtures. Everything's old school and could use an update.

This place is nice , good location , staff is excellent. BUT When you pay 1000 dollars per month the least you expect is a good night of sleep, which unfortunately is a rarity here. A good night of 10pm - 5am sleep is really that you can not expect here. Every 2nd day neighbor decide 10pm -12 pm night is good time for laundary. You request management about the problem, hoping something good will come out of it , you are out of luck. Every day is a struggle - An apartment building where you are not gurrantted a night sleep, no matter what other features are nothing else matters. Do not remember a single night where we have not to get up in middle of night with loud dryer/washer noise. I really wish management have a better policy to address or provide the very basic an apartment should provide - GOOD NIGHT SLEEP It breaks my heart to rank this builing 1 out of 5. Really hoping someone from the management addresses this issue, so I can put the rating this building deserves

Honest Opinion
Ok - so after reading reviews about The Arboretum Apartments I want to set the record straight. Apartment life is all about luck. You could be unlucky and live next to the WORST people in the world and then blame the apartment for your unhappiness or could be as lucky as we have been at The Arboretum and have enjoyed our experience. My husband and I have been here 2 years now and enjoy it for the most part. There are pros and cons like any place. Here we go. Pros: 1. Great Area - I love how convenient it is to EVERYTHING (Greenway, Grocery Stores, Good Restaurants, etc.) 2. Price - for the area - it is not bad priced. 3. My husband would say the spiral staircase (with me - not so much). 4. Quiet 5. Safe - it is on 51/Providence Rd - besides the random car break-ins (hello, you live in the city) I feel very safe. Again, this goes back to luck or just sheer stupidity for those that leave valuables visable in their cars. Plus, there is a cop that lives in the neighborhood and patrols. 6. Great Neighbors - ask to live near people who have been in the community a while. We didnt, we just got LUCKY!! 7. Fun Social Events/Office Staff - the office staff makes an effort to get all the neighbors together once a month to share breakfast or dinner. It is a fun way to bring everyone together. I think people forget the meaning of COMMUNITY and The Arboretum Apartments make note of this and do their very best. 8. Valet Trash - I'm semi-lazy and like that someone picks my trash up. 9. Great Ammenities 10. Maintanence Staff - THEY ARE ON IT!!!! Cons: 1. Outdated appliances and cabinets - lets be honest - it is not modern by any means - but it works. 2. Electrical Outlets - They go out quite a bit, but I guess I could call maintanence to have this fix. It is on my to-do list. 3. Closet Space - My husband and I share one closet. It was only meant for 1 person, not two. 4. I would say the Spiral Staircase (My husband would totally NOT agree - it is actually his favorite feature). 5. Ceiling Fans - I wish they had them in the bedroom, but I purchased a stand alone fan that works great. 6. I wish it was all electric (gas is just another bill to keep up with). 7. Rent increases - This is with anywhere. What happened to $500 for a one-bedroom?? Unfortunately, this is the reality with the renter's market in Charlotte. As you can see - i'm not IN LOVE with The Arboretum Apartments - but having lived in several apartment communities - they make it enjoyable. We plan to renew our lease again for another year.

Rudest management I have ever dealt with
At first I loved the place, then I had to deal with management,I can say its probably the WORST customer service i have experienced in a long time. Leasong consultants are nice but managers are just plain rude and unprofessional, to the point i will not renew my lease. There was also a break in, armed i might mention and management did notify the residents, I read about it in the paper.

I have a 2 bedroom apartment. The rooms are larger than most apartments. My place is usually quiet. Some apartments need more parking places. Others have plenty of parking places. Ownership changed from Simpson Properties to Connor Group around Memorial Day 2014.. Maintenance was excellent under Simpson, but has deteriorated under Connor. Simpson had 3 qualified or overqualified and concientious maintenance men and a wonderful part-time cleaning lady for the model apartment, office, and club house. Connor has 2 maintenance men, one to work on apartments between residents and one to do maintenance calls. Common areas are neglected. We got a letter on our door telling us how Connor management was interested in us and we were welcome to meet or e-mail management. I did both and would have accomplished more just cleaning the common areas myself. If you donâ??t care what people say, it is better to keep a low profile than to invite people to find out how little you care. In addition to the rent, there is a mandatory additional charge of $21 per month for at-the-door trash pickup Sunday-Thursday. I thought Connor might end this, but a nearby apartment complex owned by Connor Group charges more than $21 per month for trash without at-the-door pickup.

Buyer Beware
The parking lots are frequently 'painted' black, not really paved. Noise, even for apartment living, can be an issue. Property management wants tenants to work out their issues and would prefer not to get involved. One courtesy officer can only do so much. Grounds around the office and entrances are attractive, but grass and shrubs farther inside the complex are in poor condition. Throwing pine needles on top of the problem doesn't solve it. Outside lighting is frequently a repair issue with stairwells dark and unsafe. Property management doesn't do any nighttime drive-bys to inspect their property. Buildings are aging, and although recently renovated outside, inside units have cabintry that is very dated. Maintenance, depending on who is assigned to your request, does the minimum and have been known to leave a mess. Depending on which staff you deal with, your experience might be good upon signing the lease, but once you become an established tenant the service drops off. Pet owners are not monitored and poop can be found regularly around the property. Pet owners notorious for not picking up after their pets and not following guidelines to take pets away from buildings to do their business. No repercussions. Overall, the location is what makes this community.

Don't move in
Easily the worst apartments I've ever lived in during my 8 years in Charlotte. NOTHING was fixed on move-in, oven temp. still off after being "fixed" twice, drains are clogged from day one, toilets broken, bad wiring and outlets, dead roaches on floor, broken washer hookups, thermostat doesn't work right, 2/3 of the "amenities" are broken/in dire need if maintenance, and the staff in the office is absolutely useless. Oh, but they have pancakes every third saturday. That totally makes up for it... Don't move in here. Ever.

Bethanie Hawks-Suter/ Community Manager
This is predominantly about Beth, the Manager. From way before I even moved out of state to North Carolina, and decided on renting at The Arboretum Apts., my needs were met with excellence. Even after arriving, if little things needed to be corrected in my lovely upgraded unit, they were given immediate attention. The office staff was so accomodating and friendly, along with the residents, that it was such a rarity. But, the focus of this letter should be, and is about Beth. It is impossible to feel like a stranger, once you become a tenant at Arboretum. This is largly due to Beth. She manages to maintain a totally professional demeanor, while also making you feel like the most important person of the day, effortlessly attending to your needs. Even if it's just an apartment issue, small conversation, or a much needed ear for a few minutes, she is there for you, above and beyond! With coffee, or a possible snack on hand, she and the busy staff will always maintain a generous and respectful attitude. Beth is always excited about the positive changes that are being made for all, regarding the property itself. She is more special and valued by me than she will ever know, and while I could only stay for a short time (unfortunately I had to move again!), she was the best person to have known in The Arboretum Apts. The shopping and area is wonderful, and I would move back in a heart beat, if I could. Bethanie is not only an asset to the property, but to me, she is a dedicated and loving human being. You cannot go wrong with her as your manager, or with the others on site, like Alex, and Cindy? In my humble opinion, it's a wonderful place to call home...so click your heels! Thank you Bethanie! God bless!

I love this place!!!
Got security, got decent rent, got nice maintenance and office staff, got it ALL!!!!!!!!!! Plus, I never fret about parking- dang. You should just tour the place before making that silly argument. The place is set up with security lights, a courtesy policeman and yes, a gorgeous pool. Security cameras all over, ESPECIALLY at the pool so remember kids use it- adults don't need to be doing that X-stuff in it. Try it, you'll see the cop at your door. Any way, come argue with me if you dare- this place is a mack-daddy safe as h___ home for a lot of good people.

Really like it
I have lived at the Arboretum for 2 years now and am renewing my lease again. The staff is friendly and attentive. The apartment exteriors were just redone and look really new and nice. The interiors are inventive and cozy. I really like it here and will continue to recommend it.

Inexpensive but trouble
Multiple, major water leaks that took hours to even get looked at because maintenance staff does not live on site. In the mean time my bathroom and hallway are soaked with sewer water, mind you not clean. It took 2 days the first time, and 3 the second, along with multiple calls and stops at the office to get them to get someone out to clean the carpets. After the 3rd leak I bought a carpet cleaner myself. Worst of all was the smell. I thought it could possibly be mold from the leaks. The girl at the office refused to even put in a request to get this looked at because they'd have to drill into the walls to check. It was actually the guy upstairs who smoked and had poor hygiene, and also caused the multiple leaks. Now all of my furniture, which is in my new home, smells like that and they said it was not their problem. Cindy who runs the office every day except Tuesday and Wednesday is a bit flighty but she's good if you are lucky enough to get her when you come to them with a problem. Beth is the property manager and also good. The rest of the staff is useless. The place is somewhat inexpensive but is very old and your lease makes them not responsible for anything. Including thousands of dollars worth of furniture that I can't get the smell out of and will likely have to throw away.

Great Place!!!
The Arboretum is in a great location. The apartments are a bit older looking but they are re-doing the entire outdoor complex this fall. Landscaping is done every Monday and it's in pretty good shape, even tho it hasn't rained a bit. The pool area is pretty large there is a BBQ that once or twice the tank was empty. The indoor pool is kept very clean and is great in the winter. My neighbors are all nice and there are a couple of single girls/guys in my area where noise hasn't really been a problem. Maintenance is quick to respond and very friendly and I did have to use the 24 hr emergency service for a low fee when I lost my keys. Beth and Cindy in the office are very welcoming and helpful.

Wanting to get out of my lease
This place as gone downhill very quickly. As a young woman living on my own, it scares me to think that there was a shooting, break-ins, and cars being vandilized. I renewed my lease earlier this year and the price increased A LOT. I hate moving and it is a big hassle so I renewed. A few weeks later my friend looked into these apts and got a MUCH- about $150, better deal than what I was paying. I'm thinking I got ripped off and forced into renewing at a higher rate. I love the area of town I'm in- near everything... but if I could do it again I would move. To break the lease would be too much $ for me to dish out so I will stay with my lease and move when it is up. The area I live is a nightmare for parking- they said we can have 2 cars, but I only have 1 and need to park far away- another issue for being a young female. I can hear my neighbors through the walls. I have complained but nothing was done. With the pet issue... there are dogs near me and the owners let them out and they bark all the time (not to mention many people do NOT clean up after their dogs).

I'll tell you everything
The Arboretum is in a great location. While traffic can be heavy, there are two ways out: onto Providence and onto 51. The apartments themselves are a bit old, but they layout and room sizes are good. Landscaping is kept up every week and always looks inviting. The pool area is pretty large (I've never used the indoor pool). My neighbors have been nice, you hear them occasionally, but nothing outrageous. It's an apartment... not a house. Maintenance is quick to respond and very friendly. The office staff is welcoming and helpful.

Best find in Charlotte!
These apartments are really great. They have really nice and unique floor plans, unlike any we have ever seen in the Charlotte area. We have had only one maintenance issue since we moved in 4 months ago, and maintenance responded very quickly. Clean and comfortable living at an affordable price. We shopped and researched for months and believe me, this is a gem! For the area of town and the square footage, the prices are wonderful. We may have seen 2 bugs, but certainly not roaches as the other review stated. Parking can be an issue if people are having guests, but there are certainly enough spaces, it's just a question of how close to your building you can park. 9 out of 10 times I get right outside our apartment building. The floorplans are very open and the deck space is insanely awesome. THere is a valet trash service but watch out, because they are serious about the policy of not keeping trash out during the day so you could get a fine if you don't adhere to that. The clubhouse is very nice and so is the management. I don't know what people are talking about when they say these apartments are "old." They were built in the late 80s, yes. We have lived in apartments built in the 60s that were not completely up to code and that's something to complain about, not The Arboretum. Great sound insulation. Very safe. I would recommend these apartments to anyone. *UPDATE* I have now lived here 9 months and still love it. We had a maintenance issue one night the other week and someone was up to fix it the very next morning.

Beware Roaches !!!
These apartments are really old !! They show you the model apartment not actual ... We moved to this apartment. The same night, I switched off the light and went to bed, then after 30 mins, I turned on the light to get the water and I found the roaches running here and there in kitchen .... It was horrible ... We reported this to rental office and they denied that there are roaches ..later they did pest control ... roaches disappeared for a while ..later again appeared ... Beware !! Stay away !!!

Please understand what you are getting into..
As with many older apartment complexes, the energy consumption is very poor. I did not realize this until I moved to a new apartment. Dreading moving, I put up with a lot of poor maintenence practices as well. Laminated countertops came unglued so they fixed it by simply trying to paint over it and the paint covered everything. We cleaned it up however the appliances and floor covering would never shine up after that. They refused to fix it. The appliances were old and the dishwasher could barely get the water hot. They told me that it was junk but they could not replace it until it stopped working completely. It eventually did and they gave us a black dishwasher which is fine. It didn't go so well with the white stove with brown rust spots all over though. My brother who lived close to me in this apartment complex got fed up with the lack of maintenance as well. We finally told them that we were going to have to leave if it did not improve. We were told that given the influx of people into the Charlotte area that they would remain at a very high occupancy rate. I can't remember the % they told me. Basically... leave and we will fill it fast.. If you get a "Special" rate on move in, count on the yearly rent increase to climb fast until they reach what they call "Market". Don't count on getting the deposit back either. Just to give some balance. This place is a good location and the parking is adequate. The layout was nice as well. I'm Sorry that I cannot be more positive.

LOVE IT HERE!
My husband and I moved here August 2007. We had made a list of apartments we liked and this one was number 1. Lucky us, the floor plan we wanted was available. We live in the 2br/1ba [master bedroom downstairs, loft upstairs.] I cant even describe how much I love this place. I really almost fainted when I walked into my unit for the first time. When they said "vaulted ceilings" they werent kidding. I never got to see an upstairs unit before moving in, so I had no idea how high the ceiling was. I think its 20-22 feet at its highest point in the living room up to the loft, and the bedroom ceiling is about 11 feet I think. This apartment has a very spacious floor plan, I especially love the separate walk-in laundry room, and huge patio [8x10 feet]. The spiral staircase is gorgeous, as well as having so many big windows allowing lots of light. The common area [pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, gym] are always very clean and well kept. The indoor and outdoor pools are open all year. The staff here is nice too. I havent met one yet that I didnt like. The neighborhood and surrounding areas are very safe, my husband and I walk to the store all the time. Ive never felt scared leaving and coming home at night. I'd describe the neighborhood as being pretty quiet and peaceful. Our lease will be ending in a few months, and we're not moving. We love this place too much, any other apartment will pale in comparison to this one, anything else is a step down.

GREAT PLACE!!!!
You will LOVE this place and the best location!! The staff and maintenance is the best ever had in apartments. They go way out of thier way to make it a nice stay. Pancake Breakfast monthly. Apts. older but they take such good care of them. You must try this place and don't listen to the bad reviews b/c most of the time those that write bad things were the people who were evicted due to complaints or didn't pay the rent! I have lived here a long time and know lots of people who live here and noone ever has anything bad to say. It is managed very well!

hospitality and service
I have come to enjoy a place staffed by very conscientous and always friendly people. The Leasing Consultant in particular is always ready to provide immediate attention to those typical apartment issues that arise every now and then. She offers practical advise with real solutions, weather it deals with the complex or beyond. Thanks to her, she has really made a difference in the way I used to view apartment living and the people managing them. I recommend an award for her exceptional good nature, sense of humor, genuine smile; which never seems to detract from her consistant professional outlook and performance. She's really rare and outstanding. I have had a very good experience living at the Arboretum for more than 3 years because of her fresh and charming personality. The Arboretum is alway clean, well kept landscaped and managed with great pride. I would recommend The Arboretum to anyone desiring a quality living environment.
