Great experience love the community and amenities. They have regular community events with food, drinks and activities. We enjoy living here and there is a public park right next to the community which we visit often as well.

Great tour and very helpful in the leasing office.
Latriece was extremely helpful and friendly as soon as we walked in and throughout the tour process. She gladly answered all of our questions and provided us with everything we need to make some decisions.

Just moved in so I must say I'm a little disappointed thus far but I'm trying to keep an open mind. It's an older building and there quite few issues. I'm hoping the issues will be addressed soon. I signed a 15 month lease but I hope move to a newer unit. Hopefully that will resolve some of the issues.

Apartments are nice and the neighborhood is great. DO NOT choose what they call the "old model" at this time -- they will not provide you an ability to open the building your apartment is in, and did not say this to me until after I had already signed and paid.

Watch out for hidden fees!
Nice place to live but they will sneak charges into your monthly rent. If your garbage can isn't inside your unit before 9am then they charge you $50. Be careful because they look for reasons to squeeze every penny from you which is so unbelievably wrong when you consider how expensive everything is these days. $50 is a lot of money to charge someone for such a stupid violation. Be careful

I love living at the Village of Commonwealth. It's been really hard to think about leaving and going somewhere else! I've heard of so many friends who complain about their management company or about their complex, but I honestly can't relate! All of staff is so helpful, professional, and kind. I've never had a bad experience when I've needed something or had questions with others. It's truly been a great experience, I hope to stay here for a while!

Thanks JP!
I had a maintenance issue, and JP was so quick to come resolve it! He was kind, personable, and knowledgeable. It was a minor maintenance issue, but it still only took a couple of days to come out and fix it. Thanks JP!

The barista bar has decreased the days it's open and you can no longer order online and go pick it up you have to wait 30 minutes to get anything now. There's a lot of poop around and dog owners don't care to pick up after their dogs.

Lackluster. Maintenance requests aren't taken urgent unless there is a leak. I've been without ac at least 3 separate times this summer for at least 2-3 days or more each occurrence with a service animal on the premise. I reported a leak in my utility closet that turned to mold a week later, and was not fixed for almost 2 months. I have emailed the manager of the property and still have not received a call back. This community will fine you for literally any and everything but won't take accountability when it comes to resolving health hazardous issues. My apartment walls have been cut into dozens of times to fix leaks for other units starting the 3rd day of me moving here. At one point I considered staying but it's definitely not worth the headache or money.

Overall Amazing Customer Experience!
Hey there so I went in for a tour where everyone was genuinely friendly and for a business I was so surprised by just the welcoming vibe, from the leasing staff but especially from the baristas! I'm not sure if I'm moving yet but Mark and Liz are for sure going to make you wish you got to see them everyday with how warm and professional they were. I don't think I'd ever go to Starbucks again, and I barely would have to leave the apartment? Huge selling point. On a personal note "Thanks Mark and Liz," couldnt leave without making sure you guys got your flowers!!

Good overall. Lots of amenities. Would be better if gyms, pools, hot tubs and major repairs were handled quicker. Very often public amenities are broken for months on end. Maintenance guys are prompt and friendly when it comes to fixing stuff inside the apartments (occasional broken light fixture, etc). Phase 2 pool gets completely wild in the summer and they hire very meek pool attendants that don't enforce safety policies, from no glass at the pool, to guys throwing full cans of beer off the 2nd floor balcony into the pool. Usually safety policies don't get enforced until someone gets injured and then they are enforced for about a week. Besides that, overall really enjoyed riding out the pandemic at a resort like apartment community but we are ready to move on.

Awesome building with exceptional concierge staff
The building is great with friendly staff, maintenance, and all the amenities you could want. Location is amazing too. I want to give a special shoutout to the concierge team, including Aaron, Anllelo, Dan, Evan, Haider, and Stanley. Every single one of them has been so friendly, kind, and helpful. They even have my packages ready to be picked up before I walk in the door sometimes! Awesome service and they go out of their way to be helpful.

Declining quality with increasing prices
We have lived here for 3 years. We loved it at first- beautiful apartment and many amenities and community events. However, it seems like the staff focus more on events than maintaining the quality of living for residents. There were a number of minor issues when we moved in that we were told would be addressed, but they never were. The quality has really declined in the past year. 1. It took about 4 months and many emails and requests for us to get a working microwave. Eventually I contacted Northwood Ravin- never got a response from them but maintenance came the next day to finally bring a new microwave. 2. Office staff is not responsive at all. I have contacted them about pests and mold and receive no response. 3. There is no ventilation in the apartment and out windows and door get dewy each morning which has led to mold. This has not been properly addressed despite multiple requests and maintenance coming a few times to “do a moisture test.” 4. As others have noted in reviews, the apartment has become infested with roaches. It started out as only seeing a few here and there. But in the past few months there is constantly feces on the countertops and dead roaches everywhere whenever we go to the apartment. We have small children and became uncomfortable living there so have moved out, but are unable to break the lease. 5. The rent has risen $1000 in the 3 years we have lived there. It is now completely overpriced for the quality. The amenities and events offered cannot compensate for poor management and living quality.

Incredible amenities, although upkeep could use improvement. The VAC is great for a short term rental. Maintenance staff is terrific, although a bit overtaxed. (so it's not always easy to get a quick repair.)

The Village at Commonwealth was my top choice after viewing apartments while transitioning from Detroit to Charlotte. The best decision ever! Since moving in here, my experience has been great! Very nice and welcoming staff, very beautiful and spacious units, tons of great amenities and community events. On top of all this, it's in a great part of town! 10/10-highly recommend!!!

The move in process was easy and sufficient. They was very patient with us when we came the day of our move in running a little low on time due having to run to the bank for our first rent payment. Nya helped us figure out exactly where our apartment building was and where to park our u-haul truck for unloading.

Prices get higher, services get worse
This is my 5th year here. The concierge staff and baristas are the few consistently-good things here but as for everything else... During my time here, I've witnessed prices skyrocket while they provide lesser services, amenities are constantly out of service, building quality/safety is questionable, and management does nothing to remedy any of this. For 6 of the past 18 months, when it rains, I've had a steady drip of water coming from my ceiling light fixture, my ceiling air vent, and around my window from a leak in the roof. I was never provided any compensation or reduction in rent for having to live with rain buckets in my apartment. Quite the opposite actually - they've raised my rent 10-13% each of the past years. The audacity. Based on other reviews I saw at the Better Business Bureau, I'm willing to bet my building isn't the only one violating the city's minimum housing standards. And despite that fact, management has historically been little help - to get that leak resolved (on two separate occasions), I had to submit 3+ maintenance tickets, write multiple emails, call multiple times, and show up in-person multiple times. It's still not fully resolved, as I'm waiting for them to replace the light fixture in my ceiling that's been missing for 2 years. It took me printing out the city's housing code, highlighting the violations, and marching into the leasing office with threats of city fines for them to finally do something about it. In fact, I'm sure the only reason this got partially-resolved was because a regional maintenance guy was walking out the door as I walked in to complain. If it hadn't been for that, I'd probably still have rain buckets in my living room. Parking is horrendous while paid "upgraded" parking spaces remain empty. Wanna come home after 10pm? Good luck finding a parking space at all. Live in a building south of McClintock? It probably has widespread mold problems. Safety? It's an illusion. Amenities? Regularly out-of-service. Valet trash? Quality of service decreased but they increased prices from $35 to $50...but you can only put bags out between 6-8pm Sun-Thu, or risk being fined and there's no ability to opt-out when your schedule doesn't align with pickup times. Noise? Hit-or-miss - some of the neighbors like using McClintock as a drag strip at odd hours. It looks good on paper but the actual delivery is shoddy and the leasing office staff are often rude and make excuses for poor performance and blame problems on everyone else instead of taking accountability. Don't fall for the fakeness - it's rare that anyone in the leasing office is helpful unless you're signing a new lease. They're usually not doing anything but socializing when I walk in - perhaps that time could be better used by, idk, improving the community - and the only time I've found them helpful is when they call concierge staff (who are absolute rockstars) and concierge staff ends up being the one to follow through. If it weren't for the fact that I got in back when this place was under $1,000/month (meaning my rent is still relatively low), I would've left years ago. I certainly wouldn't pay the $1700 they're charging now, and frankly wouldn't pay more than $1400.

This is a beautiful community. The amenities and apartments are great. I didn't have the best move in experience but there are some staff members that have made an effort to correct that and were empathetic. The maintenance hasn't been a highlight here so I'm hoping that will improve. Concierge has been really kind and very helpful. Overall, its a beautiful area to live in.
