Management does a great job of maintaining the property. They are quick to respond to any maintenance calls. Love that there are kids playing outside. Wish the pool could be open longer and earlier. Community is a bit noisy with loud vehicles. Overall the community is a lovely place to live.

I will say that there are a lot less bugs than in my previous apartments. Maintenance is quick and polite. Fellow residents are TERRIBLE at picking up after their pets even though there are quite a few waste stations around the complex. The size of and space in the 3br 2 ba is really nice. BUT I will say that the layout of these apartments are not at all designed for WiFi signals so if you require full high speed 1GB internet, plan to have long cables running along the floor or the ceiling. One area will always have slower WiFi/a weaker signal than the rest of the apartment due to the limited places you can put the modem and router and the only power outlet in the back hallway is behind the washer/dryer. But this is my favorite apartment out of the 3 I've lived in in the Matthews/Charlotte area. Very nice.

I've only been here 5 months, but so far, I have found it to be a nice, quiet place to live. I've had a couple of maintenance requests that have been handled very quickly, which I like. The complex is well taken care of.

I only been living in the community for seven months now although I haven't used all the amenities that are offered here but I can say for certain that they keep everything clean and in order. When it snowed recently maintenance came and put down salt on all the entry points of every building and they shoveled the snow as well. Safety was the definitely top priority.

Feels safe, buildings/units are very outdated, little routine maintenance is done inside the units unless you request certain things. Pool and pickleball courts are decent, playground area is not well maintained, kids are never on it due to that.

I love my home here! The location is perfect for quick access to stores, highways, or an easy walk to the village of Matthews, if you prefer. The office staff and maintenance crew are fantastic, anwering my every question or need promptly and with a smile. The complex is set among trees and has a woodsy feel, while having amenities like pool, grills, playgrounds, and gym. Like many I enjoy walking the neighborhood after work, in a relaxed setting with little traffic. I recommend MAA-Fifty-One wholeheartedly, whether you're single, a couple, or a family. It is home to many!

When I moved here, it was beautiful! The curb appeal is now awful, no grass, the garbage area always a mess, I have tried to talk them into posting a sign that says you can not drop off off your old furniture here! The asphalt needs replacing, the fountains do not work and the water is just down to a quarter level...I have had a lot of retaliatory experiences here, because I care about my community. Decent place to live but it has its cons. Things has to be fixed all the time, leaks (discoloration on ceiling from water), and ceiling/floor is thin. I think renovations need to be done, instead of doing little patch ups.

The apartment that I got ended up feeling really cheaply done. Many of the fixtures are loose, or attached poorly where they can come off. The entire apartment is filled with these small details, a crack between the bathtub and floor with poor caulking, sinks with non-working stoppers, loose electrical outlets. It gives an impression of appearance rather than quality, and that has been my general experience with living in this community. A great deal of work goes into the appearance, but it is only deep enough to convince a new renter to sign.

This is the worst complex I have lived in, in my 6 years of renting. The staff is inconsiderate and incompetent. They know that have a cockroach problem yet they still rent out the building. You pay 80 dollars for MAA connection for what. A lock? An app? Yet they can't have valet trash. Very disappointed and very disgusted. Excited for my lease to end

Neighborhood and Atmosphere Well-kept grounds with lots of trees and greenery, generally quiet. Safe area, staff is friendly and responsive. 3. Amenities Good basics: in-unit washer/dryer, gym, dog park, pool, grilling areas, Wi-Fi zones. Some apartments feature extras like garden tubs, bay windows, and balconies. 4. Maintenance and Management Many residents highlight fast responses to maintenance requests. Amenities and occasional updates are seen positively. Cons / Frustrations 1. Apartment Condition on Move-In Some residents reported that apartments were not properly cleaned before move-in: dirt, hair, rust, wall and furniture damage. Occasional complaints about pests (roaches) and animals in the attic/roof. 2. Noise and Neighbor Issues Reports of cigarette/marijuana smells drifting from other units, and noise from neighbors. Concerns about cleanliness of the community (trash left around, grounds not always well maintained). 3. Cost and Extra Fees Several residents complained about unexpected extra fees added to rent. Rent prices are on the higher side for the level of quality provided. 4. Wear and Tear / Infrastructure Some apartments and building elements are older and in need of repair (AC units, ceilings, walls, flooring, etc.). Landscaping and property upkeep not always consistent.

This complex is great! Its very quiet. Most people here work and it stays quiet. Office staff was friendly to work with and maintenance is quick to respond. My air conditioning has went out twice this summer and was fixed within a couple of days.

nothing much. activities aren't so engaging. so much dog ---- around the complex. rent is very expensive with not much maintenance like regular pest control, ventilation duct/vent cleaning. garbage disposal is terrible.

Nice floor plan, good storage, well kept grounds and maintenance staff is fantastic - prompt and professional. Pool and other amenities are well maintained. I'm a first time renter having sold our primary home to downsize and love having everything taken care of properly for me.

Overall great community. The only big issue I had was with middle schoolers being loud (playing around and making banging sounds in stairwell) and getting my dog worked up. Since the neighbor moved, all is quiet again. Great dog park but have yet to meet dogs friendly enough to play with my dog. Great location and only a few minutes drive from the Four Mile Greenway, Shopping, and dog park locations. Maintenance requests have been completed quickly.

We have loved our move to 51. It's a beautiful well manicured property. The floor plan with alllllll the windows is a huge bonus because we love the outdoors. The pool deck and fountain is resort style. Maintenance is quick and efficient. We love the color palette of the interior and exterior of the apartments.

My spouse & I been here for 3 yrs, we love the area schools Walgreens & CVS. About 2miles down walking distance there's target Harris Teeters and other stores & eateries. The neighbors are kind and respectful.

Staff is responsive and nice. Someone always keeps the dumpster area tidy which is great. Also, the grounds are typically kept clean. Good experience besides my neighbors being inconsiderate despite multiple complaints. That alone makes me consider moving.

The apartments are in decent condition, the price is reasonable, and the workers fix anything that breaks or needs repair. I have no complaints. The gym is small, and the pool is fine. Overall, it's good for living. There are many windows, and the apartments are bright, but that depends on which unit you get. You can't hear the neighbors unless they're unintentionally making a lot of noise, jumping around, or letting their dog run across the apartment, jumping from the couch to the floor. Other than that, everything is fine. Come and see for yourself. Everyone has their own opinion. Each person must make their own decision, and no one can influence it except you. If you like it, rent it.

Let's just say this was a better option than the other apartments in my price range in Matthews. The application process was confusing. They don't call they just email you back and forth and there is always someone different replying to you so then you have to try to fill them in on what you have discussed so far, over email. So just show up in person and get it all done and save yourself the headache. Prices constantly change and if you don't officially secure your unit another leasing agent will rent it out before your agent is back in the office. We finally got another unit, luckily our move in date was flexible. We were told we could pick accent colors for the walls and the kids were excited. It was never done. She let me know the morning I was moving stuff over from storage and I already paid for the U-Haul. She asked if we could hold off because they aren't allowed to paint once belongings are in the apartment. Then proceeded later to tell me she could have the ceilings painted while I was gone(I was headed out of state for a week right after move in). I get back, ceilings weren't painted. Make sure to ask for a tour of the actual unit you will be moving into because they are not upkept as well as the model unit they initially show you. My unit had mold on the ceiling and in the ducts. They did have someone come out to do mold remediation. I can say when you put a maintenance request in they show up later that day or the next day. Maintenance guys are nice and do their best. I had to call them three times to fix dryer that wasn't drying clothes. He cleaned out the ducts and it was so much that it probably hasn't been done in years which is a fire hazard. My neighbor lady said her dryer caught on fire a week after she moved in. That was the first time she used it. And that leasing agent told the fire department that the ducts were cleaned out in january(8 mo) ago. When she showed me where the fire was I went to check my dryer that still wasn't drying the best and sure enough there was burnt lint behind the drum. So I YouTubed it cleaned it out myself. Then there are the roaches? American cockroaches. The complex says they have complimentary pest control every Monday, you just have to add your name to the list. I found the spot they were coming in. when I reported that the weather stripping on my front door was ripped and I could see daylight, they put in the notes that it was checked and was fine. So I bought a rubber door sweep myself and guess what? No more roaches. Which weather stripping is cheaper than paying a terminator so I don't understand why they wouldn't just check weather stripping on all units. There are other reviews about people having roaches and it's such a simple fix. Then I started noticing water coming in on the window sills in both my kids rooms. I raised the blinds to find water leaking down around the windows, cracks in the dry wall and mold starting to appear through the paint. That wasn't there when I moved in because it was all covered up with paint. I'm not sure if the managers knew but the painters definitely should of said something instead of painting over it. Just put request in for window issues and waiting on Monday to see what they say. So if you are willing to put in maintenance requests and be patient and do small repairs on your own, then other than that, the neighbors are nice, it's beautiful complex, mostly peaceful, and close to downtown Matthews. I think MAA is trying to do their best to make repairs as people report them since they have only owned this property for two years, but some people don't report stuff. So they really just need to inspect all units when someone moves out before the next family comes in.
