I've lived at Ashley Park for a few years and would rate most all aspects adequate, nothing above and beyond to have a competitive advantage. The pros: nice room layout (though no built in desks), quiet neighborhood w/gate, decent size pool, and rent didn't increase much. The cons: poor ventilation in master bedroom/bath, old (non-functioning and taped) gym equipment, breezeways/greenery, and lack of community. I do feel safe and comfortable but am disappointed that there is nothing new or innovative to make me want to stay. I have seen other places that have more amenities (trash service, starbucks in clubhouse, discounts at local retailers, cable included in rent, energy star appliances, signing for packages, more elliptical machines, etc)and community activities (organized dinners, pool parties, etc). One incentive for renewing my lease was getting the carpet cleaned- I had to ask twice for it to be cleaned and they definitely didn't do any spot treatment. Seems like two community events per year- Halloween and Christmas. It has taken almost a month and we still don't have new gym equipment. There is potential for new residents to be happy here, I wish management would do more market research to stay competitive and exceed expectations.

My first day living in my apartment, I parked my vehicle so that I was not blocking any vehicles from moving in or out of their parking spot. My vehicle was fully situated in the black asphalt area clear of the paved driveways. I carried my household items into the apartment and as my minor (4 year old) daughter and I returned to my car I saw a woman of unknown ethnic origin, wearing glasses, standing 5'10", with black hair, between my car and I assume, her garage. She was very upset to the point that she was visibly shaking with her cell phone in her left hand. I asked her if she was ok and she stated that she was currently on the phone with a tow company to tow my vehicle. I apologized to the resident stating I did not know that I was not to be parking in that area as I was not blocking her vehicle and believed that I was parked in a common area. The resident was able to pull her car into the garage despite her allegations that I was blocking her. I went further to explain to her that I had just moved in, and had not even spent one night in the apartment complex. Selat ontinued to spit on me while she was talking after I apologized and asked her to calm thenhe didn't want to hear anything I was saying and continued to berld. I then told her that she is not to address me again in that manner as I felt threatened and belittled. received a phone call from the property management office. The lady addressed herself as Erica Poyner. She stated that I should not have been parked in the other residents spot and that I had violated the terms of my rental agreement. I attempted to tell Erica about the incident from my perspective. She did not want to hear what I had to say and judging by her response to my statement, I felt that though she did not witness this incident, she felt I was at fault. I explained to her that other resident was confrontational from the initial contact and I tried to deescalate the situation however the resident was still upset when I left. Erica then went on to tell me that the resident pays $105.00 a month for that spot and the surrounding area is not to be parked in. I explained that I am a new resident , I had not spent any time in my new place and I was unaware of the boundaries as they are not clearly defined, and that it is none of my business how much another resident pays for services. Erica insisted that I was at fault and did not offer any customer service or suggestions as to how to resolve this. She was condescending and continued to speak to me like a child, even asking me" what part of that do you not understand?" She then informed me that the maintenance man lives in the building across from mine and that he has been instructed to call the tow company and have vehicles towed that are in the area of that particular residents space as well. Her statement was people move in and out everyday what is the point of her paying for a spot if you get blocked by people moving? At that point I hung up the phone. Upon returning to the complex, I stopped in the leasing office to speak with Erica and inform her that I would like to document this incident on my behalf for my resident file. She stated that she already put documentation in my file and it was not necessary for me to do so. I was not satisfied with this as she was not present during the incident and had already shown that she had a negative view of myself per our earlier phone conversation. I asked that she no longer call me unless it was an emergency. She stated that because the complex is private property, management reserved the right to tow anybody for any reason they wanted. I then told her that this is not the case as there is no statute that supports this. Erica then proceeded to, in front of my 4 year old daughter, tell me that I was acting inappropriate and like a child and that she was going to call the police and possibly have me arrested but consequently did not act on it. I had done nothing wrong and this statement caused me to feel that she was bullying me. Erica then stated I believe everything the other resident said about you because look how you are acting right now . I reiterated that I did apologize to the other resident and was unaware that the parking boundary extended beyond the paved garage area and would not do so again. However, this does not give her the right to demean, humiliate and threaten me or personally call me to reprimand me even after I explained that I was not the aggressor. My daughter was inconsolable because she believed that I was going to be taken away by the police due to Ericas threats to call the police on me. At no point in time did I curse, yell or act in a threatening manner, but I was treated as such. I then asked for her first and last name as well as the witness, Stephanie Youncy so that I could document this incident and forward it to the corporate office. I spoke with the assistant manager, Joseph on Wednesday 01/02/2013 regarding this and informed him that I would be sending a complaint to his superiors. I have no confidence in the staff and am afraid that I may be unfairly targeted for mistreatment in the future.

On 12/7/12, the office manager yelled at my 4 yr old son for taking a Christmas ornament hanging from the 20x10 ft Christmas tree located in the lobby. While yelling at him she snatched the ornament from him and yelled for him to go sit down. The office staff on duty that day, with the exception of one women, knew exactly who my son was and gave him two lollipops when he went into the office to see who was working there that day prior to the incident. Usually there has never been a never been a problem when he's up there with me as I use the computers, but I guess yesterday was a problem. I know kids might be annoying to some people because their curiosity continues to drive kids to exploring everywhere, so the 3 times he walked out of the computer room I would rush to get him away from them. But he only would go back to them to get more lollipops haha. That was why he went back 3 times. The office manager has had a history with my wife, so she knew my son and even stated that prior to realizing I was walking in there to get him. The pc room is 5ft away from the office and the lobby is 3ft away. I tried to keep him in the little pc room while I typed my paperwork as best as possible, so was truly sorry for repeatedly ( 3 times) having to get him. Since the office manager doesnt like my wife because she made formal complain about the noise from upstair neighbors in the past, when realizing my son was her son everything became a problem. The office manager had stated to us previously how she was tired of hearing complaints so when my son came around it was perfect for her to vent her frustration out on him. If cameras are in the lobby everything could be seen. As i told the manager that she doesnt have to yell at my son she stated he needs to stay in his place. Then when i asked the other office worker to have the manager call me when she returned, she told me that my son was acting ridiculous. Not use to doing blogs but since doing verbal complaints just made me look like the aggressor in the issue....here i am on this site. Not sure which direction to go from here. Im a resident of 3 yrs and in the process of trying to relocate because of the noise anyway. I do not recommend anyone to move here but the location is great haha..and thats about iy

After getting a job in the RTP area I decided to move to a more centralized location. I've always liked the Brier Creek area and after searching around for a while I came across Ashley Park. The staff seemed nice, the facilities were attractive and there was a single bedroom with a patio available on the first floor which is what I wanted so I filled out the application, paid the fees and was told that a unit would be held for me. From there it was all downhill. Just two weeks before I was supposed to move I got a call from the office telling me that the current tenant of the unit I was supposed to get decided to stay. They went on to say that they didn't have another single bedroom with a patio on the first floor but that they have a single with a loft available that they can give me at what they claimed was a discounted rate. It was more space than I needed which meant extra utility costs and it was still $50 more than what my rent originally would have been but I was pressed for time and agreed. A week later, just a week before my move in date, the office called again saying that a single with a patio just opened on the second floor and so I'd now be getting that unit instead. I told them that I was taking the one with the loft or finding a new place and they agreed to let me have the loft. At no point during this ordeal did the manager ever speak with me directly. Instead she would pass her commentary on through the staff. Just recently my lease finally expired and I could not wait to join the throngs that move out each weekend for many, many reasons that I documented over the course of my year at Ashley Park. 1. Facilities The clubhouse and pool look nice and the landscaping around them is pretty. The amenities offered are really not as great as they seem though. The further back you go into the complex the worse the landscaping gets. My building was in the far corner and had no flowers or healthy lawns. The breezeways weren't cleaned once in my entire stay. You have to make a reservation to use the billiards table or tennis court even in the daytime. The hot tub was broken four times during my stay, each time for about a week. All of the facilities close around 8-9PM even though I was told during my tour that the exercise room is open 24 hours. In the exercise room two of the seven cardio machines have been broken since I moved in, the cable for the lat pull-down machine has needed replaced since I moved in and the other machines appear to be very worn. The room was always filthy and the dispenser for wipes was always empty. The room and basketball court get crowded quickly after 5PM with people letting their friends in. The sensor for the door to the side of the clubhouse with the courts and billiards table was broken during my entire stay. You had to exit at just the right angle so the sensor noticed you or else you couldn't open the door. The party room in the clubhouse is useless. It isn't very big, lacks seating or any kind of kitchen area, and the charge to reserve it is way too high. There is no WiFi in the clubhouse either, something the staff claimed they would be getting when I originally toured. 2. Gates I thought that a gate would be nice to have but within a month I realized that it was just an annoyance. My remote was cumbersome and often came apart just from being jostled around in my pocket. The remote to get in and sensor to leave only worked if I was pulled right up to the gate. Twice I called the office to try and get my code set up so that friends could get through when I have them over and both times it was supposedly added but still didn't work. This doesn't matter much anyways though because the gates stay open as long as a car is pulling through so people constantly just wait on the sides and follow in behind residents. The gates were also broken all the time, at least for a third to a half of my stay. There was a point between April and May where the gate by the mailboxes was stuck open for over 27 days. Someone accidentally bumped into the same gate around mid-July and it was covered in caution tape for over three weeks before getting fixed. This gate has no keypad either so guests would constantly pull up with no way to get in which in turn caused a bit of a traffic jam. Ashley Park also claims to be the only gated community in Brier Creek which is untrue. There are at least two other gated communities that I know of in Brier Creek and two others within a five minute drive. 3. Noise Most of the residents in my building were quiet. There were only two times I could hear noise coming from a neighbor s apartment and both times they warned the building ahead of time that they were throwing a small party. Some of my friends in other buildings weren't as lucky though and had very loud and rude neighbors. The residents in one of the buildings near the clubhouse were so bad that I saw police officers come by on five separate occasions. The biggest issue with noise though came from being located right off of 70 and next to a gas station. I could always hear the traffic and there was the occasional revving motorcyclist or pounding car stereo to remind me of my surroundings. It is especially bad if you live in one of the buildings near the back of the complex like I did. 4. Maintenance You are supposed to be able to submit maintenance requests online but I could not even after calling the office twice about the issue. Both times they claimed to fix it yet the issue persisted. The maintenance staff are nice and they get to a task quickly. If I ever needed something fixed I would typically call in the morning and by lunch it would be taken care of. The problem is that their work is shoddy. When I first moved in one of the windows in the skylight was covered in some kind of film and the carpet had a giant stain in the middle of the main room. I called to have both cleaned off and they said they couldn't do anything about either. Another time one of the sliding doors to the laundry area popped off of the rack. They got the door back on but didn't bother aligning it so the door on the right now sits a half inch lower than the one on the left and sticks out a full inch on the bottom. This also made the door rather difficult to open all the way. One day I happened to come home for lunch while the maintenance crew was trimming some of the trees. Rather than loading the branches into a truck to dispose of properly they simply tossed all of the limbs in the woods around the area. 5. Parking The office will tell you that parking isn't bad and that there are plenty of spaces but unless you live in one of the middle buildings parking is awful. Certain parts of the lot felt like a junk yard with all of the broken down cars taking up space. Due to the location of my apartment if I came home after 8PM on a weekday there were no open spots anywhere near my building which meant I had to park halfway on the other side of the complex and walk through the poorly lit lot. What made it even more frustrating is that even though you weren't supposed to park on the curb most people would anyways because the parking rules were never enforced. On multiple occasions I almost hit a vehicle on the curb trying to get out of my parking space or navigate through the lot. Every now and then a resident with a truck would even pull their vehicle up on the curb, completely blocking the pet station there. The speed bumps are ridiculous too and I never understood why there were back-to-back speed bumps near the main gate. 6. Pets This is not a pet friendly complex by any means. There are no dog parks or fields, just a handful of potty stations scattered around that were poorly maintained and that many residents use as personal trash cans. There were also issues with people not cleaning up after their animals. The fees for pets are ridiculous. Right now the charges are a $350 non-refundable fee up front and then $20 per month per animal. This is 50% more than the majority of the other complexes in the area and 200% more than what my new apartment complex charges. 7. Apartments The apartments themselves look quite nice at first. I especially liked the design of the kitchen and bathroom. They are very poorly kept though and upon a closer inspection there are a lot of areas where you can tell that Ashley Park put cost ahead of quality. The carpet was awful. It was thin, covered in stains and dirt from day one, you could clearly see the lines where it was cut and on the edges it was coming up and fraying. Likewise the tiled flooring was very dirty. There was a half inch gap between the carpet and tile dividing the dining area and the kitchen. There was a random wooden floorboard in the doorway between my bedroom and the living room. The wooden railing in the loft wasn't painted even though the posts were. As I previously mentioned, one of the windows in the skylight was filthy and the door to the laundry area was crooked. My apartment had one of the electric fireplaces that looked very cheap and out of place, it did not give off heat even though it was supposed to and the mantle on top was scratched up. The mirror on the medicine cabinet in the bathroom was chipped on one corner and the rounded mirror next to it was not hung securely. The metal fixture for the lights above the mirror in the bathroom was rusted. The shower was clogged from day one, had rust stains around the tub, rust all over the shower head and had a slight drip from the faucet. Insulation was awful. I had energy efficient bulbs and electronics and kept the thermostat at a reasonable level and my average electric bill was still $110. Two of the light bulbs in the dining area needed replaced within my first week along with three of the bulbs in the bathroom. The stopper for the toilet had to be replaced. My bathroom sink and kitchen sink leaked from the handle when turned on. The oven and fridge clearly hadn't been cleaned before I moved in. The dishwasher was awful. The microwave had a large crack in the handle and was very dirty. The washer and dryer were loud and inefficient and the dryer vent was still filled with lint. Many of the cabinets were filthy on the inside. Both fans were completely covered with dust. The door dividing the bedroom from the main room broke twice, once when the lock stopped working and once when a hinge came loose. The surround speakers in the far wall sounded awful. 8. Staff I've already mentioned some of my issues with the staff. They seem nice initially but will simply tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign then quickly change their tone once you've become a resident. They lied about the apartment I would get, they lied about many of the amenities and features, they lied about the condition the apartments are kept in and they gave an attitude to even the most polite inquiries or justifiable complaints by tenants. They do not offer any specials or host any events for residents. When they showed me their copy of the move-in inspection form they had marked everything as fine and refused to accept my copy containing all of the issues I mentioned. On more than one occasion they never told me about a package and I only found out that it was delivered when I looked up the tracking information. Now they won t even accept packages for residents which in this day and age is a huge inconvenience. Near the beginning of spring I looked into reserving the party room. When I first toured the facility I was told that there was a $75 reservation fee for the party room and some paperwork and nothing more. A few months later when I was interested in reserving the room I called up the office to verify these details and was told the exact same thing. When I went by the office the next day though to make my reservation I was told that the $75 fee was just to hold the room and that there is also a $350 security deposit required. When I asked if I d at least be able to use the kitchen area on the far end of the clubhouse the staff member helping me rolled their eyes and said they would check. Due to the nature of their online system you cannot make any partial payments. During one of the winter months while I was on a business trip they put an incorrect charge on my bill that I noticed at the beginning of the month when I went to pay. Since I couldn't mail a check or make a partial payment for the correct amount I called and reported the issue immediately. They didn't bother fixing it until after the due date on the fifth though at which point they tried to charge me a late fee. When I called to complain the person on the phone had a very nasty attitude with me and it was only after arguing extensively that I got the late fee dropped. One afternoon I was walking my dog and she got sick and threw up by the steps to my building. I quickly brought her back to my apartment and got supplies to clean up the mess. Just ten minutes after the incident, about five minutes after I had already cleaned it up, I got a call from the office saying that someone saw my dog throw up on the walkway and that I had to clean it or they d charge me a fee for over $50. They continually harassed a friend of mine because they suspected that she had a pet. They would call her every other week asking questions and left a notice on her door twice saying she had to pay the fine. She even let me listen to a voicemail they left her where they claimed to have taken pictures of the animal in her apartment. I tried to talk her into pursuing legal action since she never had any maintenance done and was never notified that any staff members were coming by which meant the staff would only have gotten a picture by entering her apartment when she was not there and without the prior notice required by law. She was shaken by the incident though and she was about to move a few hours away so she didn't do anything. While I do not know for certain if she actually had a pet or not, she claimed she didn't and I never noticed any signs of an animal, I do know that the manner in which the staff handled the situation was very inappropriate and to enter someone s apartment take pictures without their consent or knowledge is disturbing. As many other reviewers have pointed out, the manager Kris is awful. She is a very rude person and only smiles for prospective tenants. She constantly snapped at residents using the facilities near closing hours, not after closing hours but before, and she would ignore residents needing assistance in the office, especially any younger residents such as myself. Overall she is an incompetent manager. When I received a letter with my new rent offer they wanted to increase my rent by about 12% with the only incentive for resigning being that they would clean the carpets, something that should have been done in the first place. I asked around and the increase wasn't consistent even for the same apartment. One friend of mine with a loft was told their rent would only go up by about 7% while another was told theirs would increase by 13%. The latter friend tried negotiating to no avail whatsoever. The nonsensical part was that since my friend has a good job, only needed a single bedroom and there are a ton of apartments in Brier Creek they ended up getting some friends to help them move down the street for the cost of a few pizzas. I ended up doing the same. It shows how much sense a place has and how much it cares about its tenants when it refuses to work with residents who have proven to be quiet, respectful and responsible on a fair price and instead lets them leave and then brings in random new tenants at a cheaper rate than what the former tenants were even paying. The apartment I live in now is still in Brier Creek but in a better location, it is gated, cleaner, offers nicer amenities, is much more pet friendly, has plenty of parking, the apartments are much nicer and better maintained, the price is comparable and the staff is very professional and does a great job. To summarize, it seems like Ashley Park is an apartment complex that was quite nice when it was first built but that due to negligent management and cut corners has degraded into a lesser quality establishment. People are always moving out. At least seven of the sixteen apartments in my building including my own were vacated within the past year. If you are still thinking about giving Ashley Park a try I d recommend doing more than touring a model unit that has never been lived in and that is specifically used and designed to make the apartments look nice. Just take a quick walk through the breezeway in any of the buildings along the back of the complex or taking a closer look at the fitness room to see how filthy they are. Ask to view a vacant apartment near the highway and make note of all the little details like the poor quality of the carpet or the road noise. You could even just hang around for an hour on a weekend as people sneak through the gates and some residents move out to get a better idea of what you can expect. You might think that I am simply one disappointed individual who is exaggerating or that doesn't represent the norm but when you read the numerous reviews written just in the past year all making the same commentary and notice that the few positive reviews are all very suspect then clearly something is wrong. For the price and the location you can do much better than Ashley Park.

My husband and I have lived at Ashley Park at Brier Creek for over 2 years and the leasing office has just decided that they will no longer sign for packages from FedEx or UPS. So if you're not home during the day when the delivery is attempted, the leasing office personnel sends your package back with the UPS or FedEx driver. We will not be renewing our lease here because this is a huge inconvenience. They're also very slow at completing work orders. Sometimes they just ignore work orders. We have a leak in our ceiling in the sunroom. I've reported it twice and still nothing has been done.

I have lived at Ashley Park since 2009. The only compliant I have is the parkikng because vistitors will taken up all the spaces from the tenants instead parking in the far left and/or right side larger parking areas. But I have blame my neighbors for that. The apts are very spacious and pricing is reasonable considering that lived in the Washington DC Metro area. Maintenance staff are cool. Response time is pretty prompt. Overall the staff is and has been more than hbelpful to me and my family. They are very friendly to me and my family whenever we seeing each other in passing or when conducting business about the apt. I would recommend and refer for anyone to live here with their family or alone.

I am so happy to take a minute and share this review with the hope that it helps prospective renters. My primary comment is that this apartment complex looks quite nice; the model is decorated beautifully; the floorplans are open and reasonable sizes; it's one of a few gated communities in the area; it's in a prime location; and has a gym, business center, tv room, and other amenities. However, the customer service here is horrible. Requests for repairs are not completed in a timely manner. The maintenance man once walked into my apartment without knocking (I guess he assumed I was at work but I was working from home in my night gown---not okay!). Once, the maintenance man entered my apartment to make a repair while I was not home and took all of my boxes (10 ) out of my closet and left them sitting on my bed, floor, etc. This was unfortunate because I have back problems and was not able to lift and return the boxes to the closet. He also left a W-4 oil and paint can on my newly purchased Croscill bedspread. He left a dirty rag on my counter. Horrible! I eventually began reporting problems to the front office and was treated as the perpetrator and not the victim. My advice is to not be lured in by amenities (e.g., gated community, floorplan) but to try to find an apartment complex that also offers professionalism and good customer service. Good luck!

I know that a lot of people are on here complaining and throwing out nasty, scathing reviews, and quite frankly, it's marginally juvenile. I've lived here for 3 years, longer than the current management has even been in place, and I can count on one hand the number of "issues" I've had. Look, no apartment complex is going to be perfect, least of all one in extremely high demand due to its convenient location (Brier Creek is optimal for about 100 reasons). The apartments themselves are beautiful, I am enamored with the landscaping team (who I've learned through speaking with workers on that team, are completely eco-friendly, subsistence based, and all around "green" in what they do), I love the maintenance staff (they're always available to help me out if something's wrong, and do so relatively quickly) - the maintenance staff, especially my buddy Glenn, is super personable, professional, but down to earth. The walls are thin, yeah, but I don't hear my neighbors using their garbage disposal (that was an exaggeration, come on now). I've had my upstairs neighbor's sink leak into my apartment through the ceiling on more than one occasion, but I think that's more an issue with the person upstairs than the construction of the apartment itself. There are a good number of accessible pet stations around the property, and they're almost always stocked with bags. Keep in mind that they don't HAVE to provide these things just because they allow pets, they do this to keep the grounds looking clean and sanitary. Unfortunately, as the old adage says, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think" - and people still allow dogs to defecate in the grass, oftentimes, right beside the station. Again, a problem with the RESIDENTS, not the staff or the community itself. As a pet owner myself, I find the stations to be convenient and well maintained, and honestly, their existence makes me much more likely to pick up the dog waste than I would be if I had to haul all the way to the dumpster. I find that a good deal of these scathing reviews on here are about Chris, the property manager, and the rest of the leasing office staff. Come on folks, grow up. I'm a relatively sarcastic and boisterous individual, and when I'm irritated with something, I let people know, but Chris has never been anything but nice to me. I've heard of people getting into battles with her, but quite frankly, she only gets feisty when you break the rules, plain and simple. The office staff isn't there to babysit you, they trust you to do the right thing, and they are there to run a business and to keep the status quo at a high level within the community. People are fussing about being kicked out of the pool, or the tennis courts, or what have you after hours - that's for your OWN safety, honestly. And as for the people partying by the pool, do you want beer cans and trash floating around while you're trying to take your kids for a swim? - yeah, neither do I. Part of the problem is that most of the people coming into the pool after hours are folks who don't even live at Ashley Park. We pay for it, why should we allow squatters to come in, mess up the stuff that WE PAY to maintain, and make it unusable by us? That's not to say I've had my qualms living here over the years, I definitely have, but on the whole, it's been marginal at best. They've always been cooperative on my rent increases to assure that I can stay here (they don't want to lose good tenants, and will do what they can to keep you here to try and raise the standards of the community as a whole), but I can see people getting angry about high rent increases. Supply and demand, that's all I can say on that front. All of my issues have been petty, nothing earth-shattering. Moral of the story: grow up. The lessees in this community are grown---- adults, and should start acting like it. When people get angry with the leasing staff over whatever it is that they're being charged an infraction for, it's not because they feel they're wrongly accused, it's because they got caught. Read the lease. Don't drink beer in the pool or party on the tennis courts. There, that's my two cents - - I can't stand ignorant people, and I had to say something.

I have mixed feelings. I love the look of my apartment, but just like others have said, the construction is horrible. The walls are super thin...If someone shuts their door too hard, the whole building shakes. The lawn near the front office is kept clean and but the buildings are horribly maintained...cobwebs and dirt all over. Parking has never been a problem for me but noise, the dead bugs in the building are definitely annoying. Most of the rental office staff is cool. I have an issue with Chris and her inappropriateness. Some of her comments are just rude. The other staff members are awesome. I have no complaints about the rent, but I don't think I'll be here once my lease expires. I can't take the noise level and the poor maintenance of the buildings...oh and the washer/dryer in my apartment are crap. Old and loud.

I just moved out and it could not have been any sooner. The entrance and model apartment look great and when you are considering moving in the front office is very polite and happy to help. The moment you apply though they will continually screw you over. My assigned apartment changed twice between when I applied and when I actually moved even though when I applied I was assured that they had the exact apartment that I wanted. The one I eventually got is near the back right by the highway so unless I have my TV on all I hear is traffic or neighbors stomping around. The apartment looked like it hadn't been touched since the last residents moved out. There were stains the size of basketballs in the carpet and grease all over the oven. Half the light bulbs went out in the first month and the shower was completely clogged. I called the office twice just to try and get the carpet cleaned and was basically told no. The entrance is constantly being landscaped but then the grass all around my building is dead and the breezeway is covered in lint and gunk. I sometimes have to work late and except for weekends I always have to park on the other side of the place to get a spot. The gates rarely work and the workout room is filled with dust and broken equipment. The staff is atrocious. There is one girl who is actually quite nice but the rest are simply terrible. The property manager Chris is the worst of them all. Shes rude, condescending and will lie to cover the mistakes that she or other staff members make. I had to argue just to get my security deposit back even though I'm a very clean person and my apartment was in better condition when I moved out then when I moved in. Come by here on any given weekend and I guarantee that you will see at least one apartment being moved out of. I ended up moving to the apartments down the street and got a nicer and larger apartment for $10 less than what I payed at Ashley Park and the staff is actually helpful. In summary, do not live in Ashley Park!

These apartments are aesthetically beautiful but once you live here you realize that no money was spent on quality. I am counting down the months until I too am an ex-tenant of Ashley Park. The walls are paper thin. This is shocking because of the expected quality associated with this area. I've never seen my upstairs neighbor but I suspect they are an elephant. I can hear every room they walk into. I'm not talking about minor noise I'm talking about room-shaking, stomptastic foot steps. You can also hear when your neighbor(s) run their garbage disposal, when they close their kitchen drawers, and it sounds like a waterfall in the walls when they flush the toilet, it's really loud and disruptive. The biggest source of noise is door-slamming. Again, the thin walls seem to amplify noises that I've never experienced in an apartment before. It is a shame that you can only hope to have a nice peaceful evening when you get home after a long day of work. I feel like I'm held hostage to noise. I've lived in much cheaper/older apartments where this level of noise was never an issue. There are two staff people that are great, one that is marginal, and as mentioned in prior reviews a rude, condescending property manager who needs to consider another field of work. I can say that the staff acts quickly on maintenance requests but for anything else you have to constantly follow-up with them even when they tell you they will call you back. I hope that when I'm finally released from this place that they will not try to stick it to me on the way out. I distrust the property manager so much that I can't rule out them "losing" my very detailed check-in sheet so they can assign damages to my stay (I made a copy but the property manager might accuse me of doctoring it or creating it on the internet; she has said something similar to this before). My apartment was not clean when I moved in (carpet has so much damage that I had to buy an area rug to cover it; it looked like no one cleaned the place after the last tenant left because there was hair and crumbs in the kitchen cabinets, windows have mold around them, etc). In summary, don't be fooled like I was by the beauty of the model apartment and clubhouse because the fantasy stops there. This is the worst apartment experience I've ever had and it's unfortunate because I had such high hopes for this place. The cheap construction of the apartments makes living here very difficult and not worth the headache...literally!

When I first moved to Ashley Park I thought I was getting a good deal on a great apartment. I quickly realized how wrong I was. The grounds are great by the clubhouse but go beyond the gate and it quickly gets worse. The grass on most of the medians is dead, a broken down white SUV has been sitting in the middle of the lot for months now, and the stairways haven't been cleaned once since I moved in. The "amenities" are a joke. The gate is constantly broken, the hot tub has been broken multiple times, the exercise room is filthy and the equipment is poorly maintained with many machines being broken, and the clubhouse closes around 8PM. Parking is awful if you come home later at night. The fees for pets are the worst I've seen in the entire area. The apartment I got was very dirty when I moved in, especially the carpet, and I've had multiple maintenance issues. The walls are thin so you will hear people coming and going plus the insulation is awful so between that and leaky faucets your utility bills will be way too high. If your building is anywhere near the highway you will hear traffic constantly. The worst thing about this place though as many other reviewers have pointed out is the staff. They act very professional when you are a prospective tenant but the moment you sign your lease their demeanor changes. I once walked into the main office to get a package and the property manager was just sitting there while the only other staff member was on the phone with someone. Rather than assist or even acknowledge me the manager got up and went back into her office. The staff constantly show up late and leave early and are very rude to the tenants. There are many things they told me when I was apartment hunting such as how they will be improving the grounds or how well maintained everything is that failed to be true. I spent a lot of time in the clubhouse using the basketball courts and would constantly witness the staff rolling their eyes at tenants or even mocking them behind their backs. To top it all off they tried to jack my rent up after the first year with the only incentive being that they would "clean" the carpet in my apartment, the same carpet that should have been cleaned when I moved in. Half of the neighbors on my floor have already moved out, all for the same reasons I've mentioned, and I can't wait to get out too.

Beautiful Facility, horrible management and staff
BE CAREFUL WHAT THEY TELL BEFORE YOU SIGN YOU LEASE!!! I have lived in Ashley Park Apartments for about 2 years. The facility itself is very beautiful, and I love the area it is located in. The apartments are very new, and well maintained; however based on the way management and the staff behaves themselves I wouldn't put yourself through the stress of living here. When I initially looked in to this place they try to pull you in with the 'ammenities'. Well, the tennies courts are only open during office hours, so if you have a real job, don't plan on using those in the evenings (even though they have lights out there). This is also true for the indoor basketball court. The pool closely promptly at 9. The manager (or her husband) will come and yell at people to get out of the pool, and will call the cops if you don't leave within 5 mins. (Apparently a group of tennants threw a party late at night out there three summers ago, so she feels the need to punish everyone for people who no longer live here). The manager, KRIS, will even walk up to people at the pool, ask them if they are a tenant, and if she still doesn't beleive them she will ask them which building and apartment. I've never seen her smile, and when you go up to the office for something, she acts as if you are an inconvenience. I've heard her talking about other tenants on more than one occassion when I've gone up there. Addtionally, the rent has gone up about $30 every year since I've been here. This year I am supposed to sign my lease again, and it went up $80. I understand inflation, but thats a huge increase. I would say there are much friendlier places in Brier Creek. The staff here is a huge inconvenience. (People are always moving out!!!)

Awesome
I have lived here since 2006 and this is the best complex I have ever lived in since moving to the Raleigh-Durham area. The location is great! The landscaping is breath taking and well maintained, the clubhouse is very spacious with a nice coffee bar for entertaining and a home theater room. And best of all... my apartment is just awesome! and entire staff and management is very professional.

This place is worth every penny
a one bedroom three months ago (they all have washers and dryers, alarms and surround sound speakers) and I have felt at home ever since. Management is very attentive and has always had a wonderful attitude when I come into the office. Maintenance is great, I called the office at 11:45 because I was locked out and a maintenance guy was at my door at 11:53, I love it. You really can't beat the price and the location --it's within walking distance to the shops at Brier Creek. This place is worth every penny .

Great place, inappropriate manager
I have lived in Ashley Park for two years and am choosing not to continue my lease for a third year. I would like to first off say that it is a great place to live in the fact that it is a convenient location to everything you need, nice apartments with lots of amenities, very safe, and has a wonderful front desk staff. However, the manager of the apartment homes has been nothing but rude and uninviting since I have started living here. I am a reliable, good tenant and always pay my rent on time. She has repeatedly caused me issues such as confronting me in the pool to see if I was actually a tenant (I had resigned my second lease the day before with her in her office), leaving notices on my door about having animals in the apartment (I have never owned a pet), and also wrote a written complaint addressed to the wrong person but intended for me about leaving trash outside (despite the fact that my neighbors had heaping piles of trash at their door and I had one trash bag). I understand that the issues she brought up were legitimate issues but she was completely inappropriate in how she addressed them. She has a complete lack of common courtesy and it is surprising to me that she chooses to work in a field where customer service has to be a strong suit. Despite the fact that I have loved my apartment and adore the front desk staff (they are nothing but accommodating and pleasant), their manager's behavior has caused me to not resign a lease. I think there are other properties in the Brier Creek area with the same amenities and probably a better manager.

NICE PLACE.
I HAVE BEEN LIVING AT ASHLEY PARK FOR 1.5 YRS AND HAVE HAD A VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. AS A PERSON ONCE LOOKING FOR AN APARTMENT, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT IF I WAS GOING BY THIS WEBSITE I WOULD HAVE NEVER LOOKED HERE. WHAT I CAN SAY IS THAT I HAVE LIVED IN SEVERAL APARTMENTS AND THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST PLACE. TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A NICE PLACE TO LIVE I WOULD SUGGEST LOOKING HERE AND FORMING YOUR OWN OPINIONS.

Feel Comfortable
After looking around at several communities I decided to review this site before making my final decision. I was very shocked to see the content of this website. The problems at places like maintenance, crime, slow response time, etc. were expressed for other communities, but it seems like the only thing people want to put in this website is immature name calling. I have visited this office a few times during my search and in my opinion everyone seemed fine. When I started looking for a new place I was looking for a nice spacious apartment that I could get for a reasonable amount in this area. I'm not out to judge people and write rude things about them on a website..I don't have time for that, I just want a nice apartment.

Don't be fooled about the consessions
I signed a 6 month lease with this complex. They provided me an $800 concession for being an IBM employee. I had the choice of using this all at once or stretching it over the 6 months. I decided to use it over the 6 months. I then resigned a 12 month lease. I got a letter for January '06 rent. It stated that I owed the difference between what I was paying with my concession and what my rent would be without the concession. I went to the office and asked why I received the letter. They stated the concession was only good for my first lease. I was never told about this when I signed the first lease. I feel like that was a little shady on Ashley Park's side. This is the second time I rented from Equity Properties and the second time I was duped with something like this. I ignored all of the warnings from other people on this site and now I am paying for it.....literally.

By far the best placed I've lived!
I have lived in various apartments for the last 7 years, and nothing has been anywhere near this nice. There are garden tubs in both bathrooms, surround sound in the living room and even marble-looking counters in kitchen and bath. You've got to see it to believe it, but this is nicer than I would have expected, especially since I leased over the phone. I am very happy and wanted to let everyone know. Don't miss out!:)

Beautiful, Friendly and Great Location
We have moved here from Ohio and find this area very nice. The staff is friendly and quick to serve. We have had 2 maintenence issues and they were quickly dealt with. They have social events for the residents and keep the grounds SPOTLESS! I do see cars parked everywhere if I arrive home after 9pm but I seldom have a problem finding a spot. Our apartment is close to trash container and we have not ever noticed a smell. I highly recommend this complex, I think children have mostly been leaving the negative comments.

WHERE DO I PARK! can not park near my own apartment
When this place was developed they should have done a better job at estimating parking spaces. There is no where to park and if you try to park past 4:00 pm you will be walking quite a way to get to your apartment. People are literally parking on the curbs and the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! When you come home at night you have to dodge the cars parked in the road just to drive all around the buildings looking for an open space. There is a nice jacuzzi but since the staff started leaving the office at 6:00 they turn it off or say it is broken. So if you want to use the jacuzzi you should only go before like 5:00 pm.....if you arent at work. Why have a jacuzzi you can only use during the day?
