Worse than college
Where to begin... Let's start with the positives, parking. There is a lot of available space so this is rarely a concern and Ashley Park is fine with parking boats and other items if that is of one of your concerns. The location is also a plus if you work in the park, in addition to the shopping across the street, although with traffic on the weekends this can definitely be seen as a negative.
Now that we have the positives out of the way let's discuss the reality of the situation. My first complaint is noise. If you live anywhere besides the top floor you are in for a treat! There are three, petite females that live above me and when I can hear their every step something is wrong. Also included in the noise category falls the built in surround speakers in the ceiling, yes they work great but they vibrate the floor above and often leads to problems with the neighbors, not worth the hassle. Second complaint, management. I have been out of college for three years now and when a middle aged office manager tries to belittle me because they are obviously frustrated with the career path they chose I take offense. Three separate times I have been accused of not paying rent, all three times my claims for paying were instantly dismissed, three times I walked into the office with the signed check by Ashley Park and never received so much as an apology. I am sorry that I am 25 and make twice as much as you, don't take your problems out on me, I greet you with a smile and I expect the same. The old management may not have been the most competent but they were at least friendly and empathetic, the new managements kindness towards its residents is ephemeral at best. Having lived in Meadowmont (in Chapel Hill) before moving here set the bar, I am sorry I left. The price seems like a deal at Ashley Park but like all things, you get what you pay for.
management is horrible
I lived here for 1 year and had a terrible experience with management. They were more involved with parties than the actual maintaining of the buildings, residents, etc. They were very rude and tought their
---- didn't stink. I paid top dollar and felt I was living in the ------. Too expensive for what you get. Management can make or break a property and this one is bankrupt.

i agree with the last 2 emails
i agree with the last 2 emails.. i see that man in the wheelchair letting his dog piss and poop on everything! ive only lived here for 2 months now and ive seen that man let his dog ---- beside my building several times and not even try to pick it up. all he has to do is use one of the bags provided free of charge to clean his mess up! i saw his dog one day kick up straw from the side of the building and kicked it onto the sidewalk. this is unacceptable in such a nice community. we all feel the pain of being in a wheelchair HOWEVER, it is not accceptable for anyone no matter what the case is to not clean up after a dog uses the bathroom. in conclusion, something needs to be done with this situation maybe the office staff should talk to this man to correct with serious problem. im tired of this man letting his dog use the bathroom beside my building and the next step i will take if i see it again is to call the manager hereand complain because im tired of seeing HIS dog kill all the pretty flowers and plants we have on property! if he wants his dog tp ---- everywhere carry him to a lake and walk him ok!!

A Pleasant Place to Live
I have lived at Ashley Park since July of 2002 and I have never had an issue with poor maintenance, rude staff, bugs, etc. In fact, the 2 times I had to call maintenance for minor problems, they attended to my needs immediately.

I live in a 3 bdr, 2 ba solarium and have found that the kitchen and floor space provide plenty of room for 3 people. I looked at a number of luxury apartment complexes before selecting Ashley Park at Brier Creek including Caswyck, The Terraces, and Summit Crest. My reasons for choosing Ashley Park over the other complexes included 1)W/D included 2) Spacious floor plans 3)Great facilities including indoor 1/2 basketball court, gym, tennis courts, car wash pool w/hot tub, sauna, media room, and bar area for entertaining 4) excellent offer they extended on a lease and 5)convenient access to work and a number of shops across the street.

Management does try to address issues that impact the community, and they make an effort to make residence happy by organizing monthly activities like happy hours, family movie nights, and exercise classes led by a professional trainer.

Since I've lived at Ashley Park my roommmates and I have extended our lease twice and we are in the process of extending for another term.

It's unfortunate that some former residents had a bad experience living at Ashley Park. I've never been bothered by any noise from the airport or traffic from Hwy 70. I've also never witnessed problems with the grounds being littered with dog feces to the extent that some people have indicated in some of their reviews. We did have problems in the winter months with excess condensation on the windows causing mold, but we installed some window laminate for about $5 and it took care of the problem.

I've recommended Ashley Park to a number of my friends and co-workers and will continue to do so.

I LIKE IT HERE
I moved to Ashley Park 3 months ago. I like it here. I have had to call leasing office, they are very considerate and kind. If I have to have something done in my apt, maintenance is quick to respond and take care of my problem. They all are very nice to me and my family. I enjoy everything Ashley Park has to offer and I plan on staying for a long time.

Terrible Manager and no respect or care for residents
I have lived at Brier Creek for just under one year now. In the beginning, things were great; however, sometime around the first of the year, there was a management change. Since then, I have noticed several changes for the worse. Now, if you have a maintenance issue, you would be better off hiring someone privately or fixing it yourself, since if they do come to "look at the problem", they are unwilling or unable to fix it (even after one month of almost daily requests). Secondly, the new manager has an attitude of disrespect and almost adolescent unpleasantness to any resident who has a complaint that she was asked to take care of. In fact, she totally blew me off and left me with no other option than to contact the main headquarters/owners of the apartment complex to have my complaint addressed and handled. Something that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I feel sorry for anyone who makes the same mistake that I made by signing a 14 month lease at an apartment that totally disregards your needs and rights after you sign on the dotted line and pay your rent. It's too bad there isn't a commission out there to protect residents from places like this.
Avoid for your sanity's sake
Seems like much hasn't changed. I lived there from 2003-2004.

It was a nice new apartment building when I visited, but 3 mos later when I finally moved in there was too many dogs w/ their ---- everywhere, maintenance (now that is a laugh), ------ ignorant office staff, and mold had just begun to be a problem. I broke my lease and got the hell out.

Heard the planes all the time, in between the noisy neighbors, dogs barking, during the quiet hours that the office had set and never upheld. Along with so many other rules.

On a plus side, the only plus, the apartments are mostly empty so it makes for great parking.

Do more than complain to the public!!!
If you feel that you are unsatisfied with the level of service, or living coditions at Ashley Park, dont just post it on here, contact the management company that is resposable for it. I'm Laughing at the Last Post!
At least you had the balls to imply you were from management--that's a plus.

But, you and I both know that the management company you work for sucks and doesn't care a rat's --- about bad construction because they built it themselves. Didn't they?!

My advice: if you really care, then you're working for the wrong company; find another job and don't even bother to give notice.

As for me, I wouldn't piss on Ashley Park could I but avoid it--two months and I'm gone.

Ashley Park changes are great
I have lived at Ashley Park for a while now. I have watched some residents do as they wanted to and you could say they run Ashley Park. The new manager and the office and maintenance staff are trying very hard to get things turned around. I have noticed a lot of changes in the past three months, I went into to the office to pay rent. Sheri asked me if everything was ok in my apartment, and was there anything she could do for me. They are all there and willing to help us with our problems The maintenance now gets there in a timely manner and they fix your problem the first time. Everyone on the staff is focused on the residents. I read these bad reviews and no one signs their name. Where is the credabilty? No one talks about the social activities we have. Every Friday night the staff shows a movie or we play bingo. The staff plans a party every month. There is changes being made and I am sure there will be more for the good of Ashley. Before you write a review, if you have a problem give the staff a chance to fix it. Lets work together, this is a really great place to live.
Decided to live elsewhere
I was originally lured in by the appeal of the Briar Creek with all of the new properties and shops but in the end I was glad I gave it some more thought. I?d been living in an apt in Durham for 2 years so I knew most of the areas. I needed to move to a bigger and nicer place which is why I started looking at the Ashley Park properties.

I was impressed by my initial look at Ashley Park but after a closer inspection I decided to live somewhere else. The construction quality of the apartments is really bad? they look like cheap college student apartments as with most of the Briar Creek properties. Also, while the location is close to RTP you are sitting right next to HW70 which can be really noisy. The floor plans were pretty good but really lacking in terms of closet space general ergonomics. The model apartment I was shown had things broken in the bathroom so this was my first red flag. Secondly, I read all the reviews on here (some of which you have to take --- grano salis because some people just like to rant for no real reason) and all of the comments about the mold really bothered me. I have allergy problems and mold is something you really don?t want to mess with. I remember driving by these as they were constructed and they were totally thrown up in no time ? there?s your quality and mold problems right there.

After looking at all the Briar Creek, Medowmont, Southpoint, etc properties I decided to move into the South Terrace at Auburn in Durham. Their buildings are a night and day comparison, the gated community has a full time attendant, their club house isn?t designed to lure you in by looking like a resort, every floor in the apt is built on slab, thick walls so you don?t hear your neighbors, textured walls and rounded corners and porcelain sinks are some of the small things that denote the higher quality.

Anyway, just sharing some comments to help others in their search.
I love Ashley Park, The office staff is great. They are always willing to help me. I always feel comfortable when I enter the office. I have never had any mold issues or mice or anything else. My apartment is wonderful.I run an office myself and I would take the staff here at this complex anytime... When I read the complaints of some of the other people, I wonder how many of them did not pay their rent on time or had bad checks or other problems...Those ar e the ones that usually write negative comments..I actually had a conveersation with one resident who was upset that he had th pay a late fee...He said that he was going to make up things and send it to their main office. I think that is horrible. Anyway..I love my home here and think that it is a great place to live...

Yes Chris does sucks major balls!! She has no customer service skills what so ever. Her man wife is a little scary thing running around the complex telling her everybodies busy. Maintence is ok sure they have gone though about six of them since she has been here, but hay I guess thats how it works. They did get rid of Jenna she was a little Chris in the making so I guess she had to go or was it the many sex parties that she was attending with the male tenants?! The only staff member who works is the young man he should be running this place. Anyway Chris knows who to be nasty with. Dear Chris times are tough in this world right now so you may want to be mindful of the people whom who speak to because everyone is not your man wife.

I am happy to read that I am not the only one having issues with management.

The construction is cheap, therefore you will hear every step that your neighbor takes. There is mildew present.

On behalf of the dogs I would like to say that not all owners leave the poop behind. I pick up after my dog.

Not worth it
First off, my comments is not as bad as the previous people, but I would still not recommend this place to anyone. I do not think that this place is anything like a ------, nor have I seen thugs running around in packs like previous people´s comments. I am a white man, don´t take this the wrong way, but anytime you see more than three black men together, it is not a gang people.

I do have serious problems with the price and the office staff. The new office staff is just horrible (there is one lady in the office who is really nice). The new women is just as bad as people say. I went in to talk about my lease and first she acted like she was to busy, then she was rude as hell, after she finally took the time to look up from her computer. Then she got up and walked right pass me and told me that she did not understand what I wanted and told me to talk to someone else.
Now my lease is up and they tried to raise my rent from overpriced to severly overpriced.
I do hear everything my neighbors do, so the construction is cheap. I had a problem with ants and I leave on the 3rd floor, but the problem was resolved quickly.
The apartments are nice and the maintenance staff has been great. The gym and workout room are nice. If you are actually working out, or moving around, it is not that cold in there in the winter.
The reason I moved here is for the location, but the reasons I am leaving is the mgt. and the price. The apartments and the amenities are not worth the price.

Do you feel lucky...well do ya?
When we moved in this apt. complex we did so because of it´s appeal, location to my husbands job and shopping centers. However, after just 5 days, we were confronted by a horrible mold problem that was known to exist by the management staff and Epoch Inc. The prior tenants had complained of the same problems and from what I can assertain the management cleaned up the surface but failed to eliminate the source. This is of great concern because I have two children one has bronchitis and the other has allergies, not to mention that I have bronchitis and sinus problems.

After bringing this to their attention, we were moved to another apt. in the complex within days, but the solution was short lived. A few months later we had mold growning around all of our windows from large amounts of condensation. This too was taken care of in a matter of days, but is bound to return due to poor building structure. Now we´re being told that we have to wipe our windows down every day in order to keep the mold/mildew to a minimum. I shouldn´t have to do windows everyday in order to keep the mold/mildew under control, i´ve never had to do this in any of my other residence and the rent was a lot cheaper.

I´m also appalled with the lack of animal control on the premises. The dogs aren´t suppose to be over 25lb, should be on a leash at all times and FECES removed immediately upon deposit. This isn´t happening and my children are being penalized because now they have to play in the parking lot. The parking lot where these very same animal lovers park their cars and then complain, because the kids horse play might damage their cars!

The new manager, Key is very unprofessional and should be replaced at once. She pushed past my husband not even acknowledging him after he sat in the office approximately 20 minutes waiting to speak with her. As he followed her out of the office, trying to approach her she told him she had important personal matters to handle. The urgent matter was picking her child up from school because the father wouldn´t have been able to at a reasonable hour. All this while she was still on the clock.

The friendly neighbors and hard working maintenance staff have been the one staying factor. The people in the complex are wonderful and the facilites are excellent, but if I had it all to do over, I wouldn´t do it here.

Clear up re: mold
There has been no definite scientific proof that points to mold as a source for health problems. There is only speculation. I work in the field and I wanted to clear that up. It is probably not good to live in an apartment with mold, however exposure to mold does not contribute to a pregnant woman losing a child. Give me a break!

Also, I have lived at a couple of complexes in the Raleigh area. I have also rented a house for a year. You are going to run into these sort of problems wherever you go. Management is a problem - think about it, what sort of highly educated person would want to get into apartment management? Bugs - no matter where you are bugs are a problem, especially if you are on the first levels. Every place I have lived in has these problems - luckily this one has a good maintenance staff who will take care of it. If someone can suggest a place without these problems, I would be glad to hear it.

In short, if want to solve your problems, try owning a house! And if you can´t afford it, don´t complain!

Not Bad At All
When you hear people say so many bad things about how something is, they´re probably not so happy with their lives anyway. Or maybe they think they are the only resident who live in the community and didn´t get the attention they wanted when they wanted it.
Ashley Park is like anywhere else you live or better. Their maintenance staff is always working very hard to please, and also very kind.
Yes the office has problems and are going through some changes as I have witness myself. The new manager seems to be very stressed. As I noticed she is also a little to over acting and caring only about what she wants. There could be some serious changes there but over all I think Ashley Park is a very place to live.

We have lived here for a year and half. We signed a two year lease and are dying to get out. The apartments look cute and pretty nice inside. Management is hateful. It is the noisest complex. All you hear is music and and people stomping around b/c the place is built so poorly. There are tons of dogs and the poop problem is out of control!

No Heat in the Gym
This is the first winter that I have lived in this complex. Can you believe that there?s no heat in the gym or basketball court? Seriously it´s about 50 degrees in the mornings and in the afternoon it´s only about 60-65 still uncomfortable to work out.

I asked management about the issue and was told that the heat was not working. Several weeks later I asked about it again and was told that it doesn´t have any heat at all. Confused, I asked a 3rd time and found out that when the building was built they didn´t put heat in these areas to save money. I have asked that they fix this as soon as possible but nothing has been done about it yet.

Lets hope they fix it soon.
Very Unprofessional and quite Rude new Manager
Well to start; this apartment complex like any other does and always will have problems!
There is no way around "ants" that want to come in, they make sure that the exterminator comes ASAP (to all the people with ant problems, try not leaving food out and vaccum) and the few mold problems that have been an issue are simple and taken care of quickly so there is no health issue! The comments left are angry residents who wanted to get out of the lease without paying any fees ;) I had the pleasure of listening to them go on about it last summer while they were enjoying the pool at the apartment complex they hate so much! Any way what sets aside a great apartment from a good one and a good one from a bad one are the office personel and the management. This is your home for whatever reason it may be this is where you want to feel safe and sound. When going to the club house, I have seen a horrible display of chaos from the current manager (Key) She doesnt seem to know what she is doing at all. She refers people with questions to the other office personel and then talks down to them even though they obviously know more than her. I have heard of and encounterd myself her unprofessional rude manner. My lease is up within a few months and I am currently looking elsewhere because of management alone. So if you dont care how you get treated then this is a great place to live, but to all the people with feelings...... BEWARE!
WORST PLACE EVER
I don´t know where to begin. I had problems from the day that i moved in and tried to break the lease but couldn´t without this ridiculous fee. They should have a 30 dayb satisfaction, but then if they had that no one would ever stay. The manangement is very unprofessional and rude. Several problems that have been ongoing and never seem to get fixed. Seems that there is a financial issue with them or something.Other problems include from what i have heard and seen are that some of the biuldings are sinking, mold is a BIG issue, manangement needs a lot of improvement, gates never work so it is not really that safe, dumpster is always full, place is infested with rodents (mice) and ants, and did i mention that the office staff is horrible and that i would not live there if it was FREE.

MOLD MOLD MOLD
Tell me you could believe anyone would write something positive here about Acid Park—opps I mean Ashley Park-- maybe the managers, which change every couple of months. Acid Park has seen three different managers this year--WAIT!!! Acid Park has only been open since the fall of 2002!!! Of course you could have some losers living in Acid Park--WHO DO YOU THINK RUNS THE PLACE?
Just after Turkyday management moved someone into an apartment that has black mold. The black mold is still there because you need to tear down the walls, interior and exterior, and have an environmental company do abatement of the black mold. Epoch Management, the company in Florida that built and owns Acid Park thinks you can simply pour bleach and paint over the mold. I was present when a mold specialist told a previous manager the same exact thing. Did I mention the manager hired the mold specialist and said I would get a copy of his full report? I received a three page report containing what type of mold and how much of it. After contacting the specialist I learned there was a great deal more and Acid Park would not allow him to release the report to me. IT WAS MY APARTMENT, MY HEALTH, MY FAMILIES HEALTH!!!

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS WRITTEN HERE!!!

All of the reviews are from intelligent people. You can see it in the way they express their opinion. The last review is obviously written by a manager or leasing agent. It is a runaround just like you would get if you spoke with one of them.
See for yourself --- Don´t believe all you read here!!!
I´ve been here a year and just signed a new lease... I haven´t run into any of the mold or slow maintenance issues. The staff is very nice and will go the extra mile to make sure you´re happy. Sure, there are a few LOSERS with no respect for others, but what apartment complex doesn´t have 1 or 2?? There is never a lack of parking. Some people are just too LAZY to walk a few extra feet and park in the HUGE parking lot. I have never seen a rat or a mouse.--That´s BS!! It´s unfortunate that most people only write in these rating sites when they have something negative to say or have an axe to grind...
