Rude and Lazy Manager
I have lived here for a year, the management is horrible, the office Manager hung the phone up on me when I had a question about my bill. She has a short temper and it is as if she never went to college which I doubt she did. I am leaving as soon as my lease is up and she will probably find some way to screw that up. Another thing, I have yet to see her stand up and greet me when I come in, she just sits behind her desk and expects you to help yourself anytime you come in for a package, thats just LAZY.

Don't ever move to this apartment
Management is big problem. Every mistake they do, they will blame on the <br>computer as it runs every thing. Moving out is big problem with them. <br>You will get bill daily( with rivised amount)for a week. <br>If you are lucky enough to stay in same town like me and able to spend some time<br>arguing with them, you will get most perfect answer....<br>....Sorry, I know you paid the final prorated rent but computer doesn't.<br>....Sorry i know you paid THE initial deposit( AFTER you showed THE proof WITH same lease copy <br>you have.. till now i am NOT sure how my copy IS different FROM their records) but computer doestn't.<br><br><br>When i was staying and complained about pest problem. They said, its every where and quite common in <br>raleigh when previous winter is mild. But we will have pest controll people spray. When you moved out<br>you will get bill saying that pest are because of your stay and need to pay 100 dollars for spray.<br><br>Don't get suprised if you get a call just a week after you moved out saying if you dont pay the amount today or tommorow, will be forwared to collection agency even though bill/letter says you are supposed to pay within 30 days.<br>

the dump at crabtree
It's as if a monkey sat in a corner, took a squat, and out came this complex. I've lived here for nearly 4 years and the stink has gotten worse. The office staff is horrible. Back when I first moved in, the place was ok. Since colonial grand bought the place, ghettoites are my new neighbors, the place is dirty, noise is everywhere, and there are more cars with less than $500 in value that surround the parking lot than you can shake a stick at. I'm pretty sure I even saw a porno being filmed at the pool late one night. If you're into that kinda thing, "come on down". Don't worry too much about the office staff, because somebody new will be there tomorrow.

Terrible conditions!!!!!
I have lived year for about 1.5 years. When I first moved in things were nice, then everything went downhill. We had a leak in our air conditioner unit, which wasn't permanently fixed until after it leaked 4 times in about 6 months. We have mold and mildew growing on the carpet, baseboards, and unit. I asked to get the carpet replaced and recieved no response. I asked again and say they only do it with new leases. When I requested it the first time, I was a new leasee. It's also noisy. The fitness equipment was great at first, but the ------ kids without supervision managed to break them. Don't move here.

Hell No!!!
I have lived here long enough to know that the bad is starting to outweigh the good. The office staff is incompetent and cares nothing for its residents once they get you into an apartment. They changed the entire maintenance staff from a few years ago. The guys that used to be here made it seem like they were part of the apartment "family"... the new staff is nice enough, I suppose.<br><br>I have great neighbors. It's mostly management and maintenance that are the problem.<br><br>There is a website I found on myspace, which encouraged me to come out here and give my opinion. I am going to sign up for a myspace account so I can, hopefully, get to know some of my neighbors online.<br><br>try www.myspace.com/colonialgrandresidents

Mold -- lawsuit
Another apartment complex managed by Colonial Grand faced a mold lawsuit:<br><br>"Inspectors say the alleged mold was caused by a water leak, and attorneys aren't certain if it was contained to one unit. The lawsuit claims the couple tried to notify management but the problem was never corrected."<br><br>Here's the full story http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news&id=3888623

Nice place, minus office staff and ------ neighbors
I have lived here for almost 3 years and will be leaving soon. I have enjoyed the ammenities as well as the spacious apartments. The maintenance guys are great, but recently the complex was bought by a new company. Since then, they have had a high turn over rate in the office. I don't know what has happened, but the type of people that are moving on to the property are NOT the type of people who lived here from 2003-2004. Let's just say it's gotten worse as to the choices the management make on letting people move in here. If you stay away from your neighbors and the office staff, you'll be ok. Ha.

Response to Handicapped Parking Post
Since Apartment Ratings will not address our concerns with the last post since it is personally identifying, I'd like to respond to the writer's complaint.<br><br>I am Morgan, the person referenced in the claim. I am not the manager, as they had referred to me as being so. Since I am not the manager, I do not have the authority to make purchases like new handicapped signs without receiving prior permission. There are proper channels for doing such in the business world and as soon as I received the complaint, I worked on doing so. These things don't happen overnight and I never guaranteed the person complaining that it would, nor did I guarantee any time frame. I returned every message that I received from the writer, so I do not know what they are speaking about there.<br><br>Furthermore, the person complaining is not a resident of our community. While we take comments, requests, and opinions very seriously, our only responsibility is to our residents. The resident that this person was visiting NEVER contacted our community to complain about the parking.<br><br>As you may know, it is impossible to control where other people park. We do everything in our power to deter people from parking in unauthorized areas, including fines and towing. We care deeply about all of our residents and treat them all, handicapped and non-handicapped, fairly and with respect.

Beautiful Apartments
I completely disagree with the gentleman that wrote the "be careful when you try to leave" review. I was amazed at the quality of the Grove's apartments. They pride themselves on prefecting every detail of your new apartment home. No one wants to move into an apartment with damaged carpet. I was thrilled when I was told upon move in that the carpet in my aparment was brand new becuase the person before me had let their cats ruin their carpet. As with any community you cannot chose your neighbors, or their cars, or where their kids play ball, however the Grove staff has been very attentive to my needs, and done everything possible to make me comfortable. I would recomend these aparements to anyone looking for a beautiful and quiet place to live.

Be careful when you're ready to leave
I lived in the apartment complex for a year without any major complaints. The neighbors did get a little loud once in a while, the kids bounced balls off of my wall, a few leaks from upstair, but everything was taken care of promptly.<br><br>When our lease was up and we started looking for a new apartment complex, we found one we liked and decided to move only because it had a racquetball court. something that the grove didn't have. we turned out application and received a call saying that the grove would not give out any information until we gave them a two month notice. We were not sure we ~wanted~ to leave until that point. The office staff told me that they didn't want us to leave so they would not give out any information.<br><br>Two months later we left. A couples of weeks into the new apartment, we received a letter from the grove office staff that said the year old carpet needed to be completely relaced. They blamed the cats but the cats did not do any of the damage that they suggested. They are unwillingly to negotiate on the charge even though a majority of the reason for replacing the carpet was damage from a leak upstairs. Since the very first letter sent to us, they have been threatening to send the balance to a collection agency. As a business owner, I do not see this as good business pratice, but this is the road they chose to take.<br><br>Can't say I didn't warn you.

Great complex-no complaints here!
I have lived here for a little over a year and enjoyed my experience. <br><br>I don't feel like I'm in the ------ like the other person said. All of my neighbors are very friendly and considerate and management does address problems when they arise. I think the gates help keep criminals out of the community, but crime can happen anywhere.<br><br>Since the office staff has changed, I have seen a lot of improvements.<br><br>My apartment is in great condition. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of flowers. <br><br>Some people may think this is overpriced, but I believe you get what you pay for.<br><br>I really enjoy living here. I suggest that everyone come out and see for themselves what a wonderful community this is.

Overpriced
We have been extremely disappointed with our experience here at the Grove. You pay too much for what you get: broken gates, dirty staircases, running toilets, and sketchy looking neighbors. People leave their trash outside their doors even though you're not suppose to. And we've had SO much trouble with our neighbors playing loud booming music. After many complaints, the staff basically told us they weren't going to do anything about it. It's been miserable. Feels like the ------.

GREAT PLACE IF YOU LIKE THE ------
IF YOU LOVE TO HERE BASS RATTLE YOUR WALLS AND P.O.S CARS PARKED EVERYWHERE AND AN OFFICE STAFF MADE UP OF THE DUMBEST S.O.B.s <br>AROUND THEN MOVE RIGHT IN. THIS PLACE IS ONE STEP ABOVE THE PROJECTS. SO GET YOUR FOOD STAMPS AND MOVE IN TODAY. THE OFFICE STAFF WILL BE VERY HELPFUL RIGHT UP UNTIL THE POINT YOU ASK THEM FOR SOMETHING.

Home is Where the Heart Is.
I´ve always heard that a home is where the heart is as it comes from a place deep inside of one´s soul and spirit. It´s the ambience that creates this atmosphere that has been conveyed by the wonderful staff that manages this place I call home. I´ve been in my home for three years and I highly recommend this community to anyone that is searching for a place where they, too, can feel like they belong and are wanted.

Awesome!
I moved to Raleigh in July 2000, and looked throughout Raleigh for a place to live. Most places were ok, but when I checked out the Grove, I knew right away that this was the place for me. I´m a single professional, and wanted a newer, clean and safe place. The Grove provides all this and has excellent location. The apartments are roomy, well planned, quiet and all the residents seem very friendly. The staff is the best around. They were very friendly, patient, knowledgeable and always accessible. I enjoy the privacy of the gates and although the staff explains when you first visit, that they are for privacy and not safey, I still am glad the gates are there. I am now in my 4th year of living here and until it is time to buy a house do not plan on moving anywhere else. I recommend anyone looking for an upscale place to live to check out the Grove at Crabtree.

The Gates of Hell
I looked at dozens of apartments in order to finally decide on The Grove because of its grounds and the fact that it is a gated community. Since I moved in, the gates have been broken more than they have been working. My car was broken into, and the community said "sorry, but we don´t expect the gates to keep anyone out." Huh? The apartments are noisy and the stairwells are moldy. Maintenance has been in the place often installing meters and radios so that water can be charged to each individual apartment. I can´t imagine staying here another year and paying for water this time. Look closely before you decide, and make sure you listen for the Milbrook noise. <br> <br>

Great Place to Live
I have been very happy with this community since I moved in a couple months ago. The staff is friendly and helpful, maintenance responds in a reasonable amount of time. <br> <br>The apartments are large and open floor plans. They are well cared for and have large windows that let in lots of light. <br> <br>I have had no serious problems with this community and have felt very welcome here.

The Grove was the cleanest, best maintained complex I visited when looking for an apartment. The staff was very nice and not pushy at all when checking it out. They made me feel I was their only visitor that day, very courteous, patient and knowledgeable. Now that I have lived here for over three years, I have looked at other places when my lease was set to expire, but realized the Grove was still a cut above the rest of the other complexes. The place is very quiet, safe and the people that live here are great. Whenever any maintenace is necessary, it seems most things are taken care of that day. Great place to live, I highly recommend it.

Best place to live!!!
I have loved living at The Grove! The office staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. The maintenance staff does a great job and are also very friendly. <br><br> <br><br>The landscaping is beautiful. The fountains on the lake are relaxing and the swans are great. <br><br> <br><br>I HIGHLY recommend these apartments if you enjoy coming home to a quiet, friendly neighborhood.

Get a new office staff
Okay, so I lived here for about a year and let me just tell you, I don´t know what was up with the office staff, but there were a few who could really afford to change their attitudes. Not only were they short with me, but they seemed uninterested and almost irritated the FEW times I encountered them. <br> <br>The community is nice, but it doesn´t compensate for the fact that I felt unwelcome in my own "home"
